Chas. F. Irvine, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Irvine, Navarro County, was born September 14, 1896. He was educated in
the schools of Corsicana. Was assigned to Troop F, 1st Cavalry, when he entered the army on September 7, 1917, but was transferred to Battery D, 132nd
Field Artillery, and trained at Camp Bowie, Texas until his company entrained for France on July 31, 1918. The Artillery Brigade never rejoined the
division after their arrival in France and through the division had its fling at the front, the 61st Artillery never saw action. Pvt. Irvine was discharged
