Jones 65th Anniversary

Edith and Remus Jones of College Station celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with family and friends June 28 at Camp Creek Lake.

The Joneses were married July 2, 1938, at the First Christian Church in Corsicana. They both graduated from Corsicana High School where they were living when he was called to active duty with the U.S. Army in 1940.

Remus retired from the Army with the rank of Lt. Col. after serving 30 years. He fought with the Texas 36th Infantry Division, the T-Patchers, during World War II. He received a Bronze Star with V Device for valor while serving in Europe. His Army also career took him to Korea, Okinawa and Japan.

Their son David lives in College Station, and their daughter Edith Bulla lives in Weatherford. The Joneses have five grandchildren, Bart and Trent Craig, Jennifer Kelly, and Michael and Mark Jones and four great-grandchildren, Jeffery, Colton, Jaxson and Adeline.

Edith and Remus are members of the A&M United Methodist Church in College Station.

The Joneses lived in Killeen for more than 40 years before moving to College Station. Edith worked for the Killeen Independent School District, and Remus retired again, this time from the Texas Workforce Commission.

Both Edith and Remus have been active in Lions for decades. She is past president of the Killeen Lioness Club.

He is past president of the Killeen Noon Lions and was that club’s Lion of the Year. Remus is past district governor for Lions District 2X3 and is currently a member of the College Station Noon Lions.
