Birdston Valley Cemetery
This is a very large cemetery. Customs say that
when blacks were prevented from burying at the old Cooper Cemetery location, near the Burleson Cemetery, this area was then used as a cemetery for the
blacks. There is a total of 128 recognizable graves in the cemetery, however it is estimated that it contains at least 250 to 300 graves, many
which are lost in the old part - which is the east side of the cemetery. There are 43 recognizable unmarked graves. Location: Surveys: - Surveyed in Volume
3, pg 91 of the Navarro County Cemetery Records by Verna Bonner, Opal Bonner, Inez Lee, Gladys Rouse & Mozelle Pillans
on March 27, 1981. Photo survey in August 2006 by Dana Stubbs.
