Emmett Cemetery in Emmett, Texas.
He was born Oct 8, 1919 in Frost. He was a retired lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force, having served in
World War II and Okinawa. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 174 A.F. & A.M., Scotish Rite Cathedral, Houston,
and the Arabic Temple Shrine. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Holloway of Corsicana; two daughters Juneanne Holder of Riverside, Calif., and Joslyn R. Anderson of Walnut, Calif.;
four grandchildren; one sister, Emma Jo Powell of Houston; and one brother, Clifford Holloway of Amarillo.
Pallbearers will be Buck Hamilton, Ernest Byrd, Eric Anderson, Mark Roman, Clifford Holloway, Lonnie Powell III, Paul Green and Gary Guinn.

MIDLAND (Special) Graveside services for Ernest "Ernie" Holloway, 84, of Midland
will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Bob Porterfield officiating.
Burial will be under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home of Midland.
He died Monday, June 19, 2000, at a local hospital.
He was born Feb. 6, 1916, in Corsicana. He lived in the Chillicothe area where his family farmed.
He was employed at Harvest Queen Mill. He later joined his brother's business and was employed as a service station attendant. He became a painter in the
Plainview area and moved to Midland in 1954, where he began working as a paint contractor until his retirement in 1990.
He attended the Kelview Heights Baptist Church. He married Mary Dayton on Jan. 18, 1946, in Clovis, N.M. She died April 28, 1990.
Survivors include his daughter, Ricka Bentley of Midland; a brother, J. M. "Murl"
of Lubbock; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association, Midland
Chapter 10, Desta Drive, Suite 220E, Midland 79705.
The family will accept friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Ellis Funeral Home
in Midland.

Thelma Widener Holloway, 93, of Corsicana passed away Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001 in
Corsicana.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Corley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at
Dawson Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Loyd Edward Farmer, Harris A. Griggs II, Aubrey Farmer, Paul
C. Clements, Robert Coonrod and Donald Morrison.
She was born July 8, 1908 in Navarro County. She was a member of Trinity Baptist
Church.
She was preceded in death by three husbands; parents, Marion Johnson and Mary Harris Widener; one son, two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and 13 brothers
and sisters.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, J. D. and Lona Chaney of Cumby;
daughters, Louise Hoffman of Dallas, Nita Haynes and husband Sam of Corsicana, and Billy Doud and husband Rod of Dallas; 12 grandchildren, 15
great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Holloway Funeral services were Thursday at 10 a.m. for Mrs. Mary Anna Holloway, 83, at Corley Funeral Home. The Rev. Bruce Hibbitt officiated. Burial was in the
Emmett Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tom Lambert, Collin Green, Truitt Green, J. C. Green,
Marion Green and Charlie Ray Green. A native of Emmett and life long resident of the Corsicana area, she had moved
to Amarillo about 18 months ago. Surviving are two sons, a daughter, eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, two brothers, four sisters and several
nieces and nephews.

Julius Earl Holmes, 75, of Corsicana passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001 in Corsicana.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Smith Chapel AME Church, 2406 Childs St., Dallas, with the Rev. James W. Ford and the Rev. Billy C. Freeman officiating.

Mr. Holmes was born Dec. 27, 1925 in Corsicana. He was a veteran of the U.S.
Army, having served in World War II. He was retied from Murdock Engineering in
Irving, Sheppard Air Force Base and Reid's Pharmacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Lillie Mae Holmes.
Mr. Holmes is survived by his wife, Aszrine Holmes of Corsicana; daughters,
Elaine Avant and Julia Allen; grandchildren, Robert Lampkin, Melva Avant and Marlin Avant; and aunt, Alvata Lovett.

Marie Leija Hood, 77, of Dawson, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2001, at a Corsicana hospital.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Wade Funeral Home in Hubbard.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rose Lawn Memorial Park in Brownsville
with the Rev. Mark Flurry officiating.
She was born July 6, 1923, in Derby. She was a resident of Dawson for the past
six years and prior to that she lived in Jacksonville for three years. She also lived in Port Isabel for 32 years where she worked as an R.N. in hospitals and
nursing homes before retiring in 1985. Mrs. Hood was active in the W.M.U. in the Baptist church for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of
Dawson and a former member of First Baptist Church of Mixon.
She was preceded in death by her husband E. J. Hood in 1986.
She is survived by son Edgar and Linda Hood of Dawson; grandchildren, Elizabeth Benavidez of Hillsboro, Rosalind Hood of Carrollton, and Marcus Hood of Harker
Heights; and great grandson, Justin Scott Benavidez of Dawson and his father Juan Jose Benavediz of Hewitt.

Mr. Hood was born Dec. 12, 1955 in Avalon. He was a member of Sixth Avenue
Baptist Church and also a member of the Gospel Five. He was employed by Quaker Oats Company for 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, David L. Hood.
Mr. Hood is survived by his wife, Vickie Hood of Corsicana; children, Latoya

Baptist Church and served as the church secretary for 40 years. She was preceded

Thelma Caskey of Corsicana; sons Rick Hooker of Allen and Ralph and wife Sharon

FROST (SP) - Obed E. Horn, 71, resident of Frost for the past 26 years, died Monday afternoon in Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Pike County, Ark., March 30, 1899 and married Lillian Ballew in
Hubbard in 1927. For more than 26 years he had been employed as a clerk by the Brown Grocery Co.
in Frost. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Emmett and a member of Frost
Masonic Lodge No. 641. Funeral services were to be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Emmett Missionary
Baptist Church with the Rev. W. H. Bradbury officiating. Graveside rites at Emmett Cemetery were to be conducted by the Frost Masonic Lodge with Masons as
pallbearers. Surviving are his wife of Frost; a brother Bobby Horn of Longview; two sisters,
Mrs. Ola Mae Parten and Mrs. Ruby Applegate, both of Fort Worth.

May 25, 2001 at Teague Nursing Home.

Mrs. Horton is survived by her sister-in-law, Dessie Pruitt of Midland; nephew

Horton died Tuesday, May 26, 1998, in Prairie House Living Center.
He was born Oct. 27, 1906, in Navarro County. He married Lena Mae Jones Horton
on Nov. 17, 1930, in Clayton, N.M. He attended Merkel schools. He was a member
of First Baptist Church in Plainview.
He farmed near Plainview.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Yvonne Barrow of Dalhart and Tommye
Sue Allen of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friday, Dec. 1, 2000 in Fredericksburg.
Graveside services were 11 a.m. today at Younger Cemetery in Navarro County.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church of
Fredericksburg.
Mrs. Houston was born Dec. 22, 1909 in Purdon. She was reared in Dawson and
graduated from Hubbard High School. She had been a resident of Fredericksburg
for 11 years and formerly lived in Corsicana for many years. She received her
teaching certificate from Southwest Texas University and taught school at San
Benito where she lived for 30 years. She was a member of Emmaus Community of
Fredericksburg and First United Methodist Church of Fredericksburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell V. Houston in July 1961;
brother, Lloyd Berry; and sister, Margaret Hutchins.
Mrs. Houston is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Fauniel and Jerry
Regester and Helen Ruth and Vernon Smith, all of Fredericksburg; sister, Jackie
French of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Rebecca Spencer, Curtis Regester, Kathy
Gandre, Janice Schmitz and Michelle Worthington; 14 great-grandchildren and two
great-great-grandchildren.

Services for Vergie Lee White Houston, 87, of Kemp, were 2 p.m. Friday, April
13, at the Calvary Baptist Church, Kemp, with the Rev. Jim Renfro officiating.
Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana, under the direction of
Anderson-Clayton Brothers Funeral Home of Kemp.
Mrs. Houston died April 10, 2001.
She was born May 18, 1913, to Alfred and Almedia Green in Hill County. There she
married her childhood sweetheart, Eldon White. Mr. White preceded her in death
in 1968. Later, she married D.S. Houston, also having preceded her in death.
Mrs. Houston would have been 88 years old on her birthday.
Having lived in Corsicana for about 25 years, she fulfilled a life-long dream by
establishing a home on previously acquired farmland in the Cedar Creek area,
where she had resided for the past 36 years. Many lives were touched through her
membership in Calvary Baptist Church, Kemp, where she had been an active member
and served in many life-fulfilling capacities.
Survivors include; sons and daughters-in-law, Glen and Ernestine White of
Pasadena and Don and Rose White of Canyon; daughter and son-in-law, Nelda and
Bill McCrary of Spring; brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Reva Green of
Waco; seven, grandchildren; six, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Pallbearers were James Reed, Foster Busby, Winnon Smith, Danny Thompson, Ralph
Givens and Danny Blankenship.
Mrs. Houston's friends join her family in thanking God that He saw fit to bless
her life to the enrichment of theirs in His service.

She was born Feb. 26, 1919, in Corsicana. She married Harvy Howell Sr. on March
22, 1945, in Lubbock. He died Jan. 28, 1982.
She was the food supervisor in the Union Center at Texas Tech University.
Survivors include a son, Tommy of Lubbock; a daughter, Sheila Gage of Amarillo;
a brother, Max Griffin of Lake Kiowa; a sister, Betty Mae Johnson of Abernathy;
three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

James "Kinnie" Howell, 94, of Corsicana went to be with the Lord Thursday,
May 17, 2001. He passed away at Twilight Nursing Home.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Griffin-Roughton Chapel with the Rev. B.F.
Risinger officiating. Interment will follow at
Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Howell was born Nov. 15, 1906 in Farmersville to James Kindrick Howell Sr.
and Connie Murchison Howell. He married Beatrice Ross June 25, 1927. He retired
after 41 years of service from Southern Pacific Railroad. He was a member of
First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Atkeisson; and his parents.
Mr. Howell is survived by his wife of 73 years, Beatrice Ross Howell of
Corsicana; sons and daughters-in-law, Truman and Millie Howell and James B. and
Exa Howell, all of Corsicana, and Raymond and Martha Howell of Waxahachie;
daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Murphy and Betty and Bobby Hicks, all of
College Station, Mary and Raymond Paul of Corsicana and Linda and Kent Wear of
Lancaster; sister, Flora Curfman of Corpus Christi; 20 grandchildren, 35
great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

BROWNFIELD (Special) Services for William Willis Huddleston, 74, will be 10 a.m.
Monday at Memorial Chapel of Brownfield Funeral Home with the Rev. Beverly Titus
officiating.
Burial will be in Tahoka Cemetery in Tahoka.
Huddleston died Friday, March 19, 1999, in Brownfield. He was born July 21,
1924, in Henderson County, Texas.
Huddleston grew up near Corsicana and served in the Navy during
World War II.
He married Nelda Faye Junnel in 1947 in Athens, and she preceded him in death in
1951. He married Willie Mae Gage in May, 1953 in Tahoka.
Huddleston worked as a mechanic in New Home until he moved to Brownfield in 1951
and was a maintainer operator for Terry County until retirement in 1987.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a life member of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Huddleston was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Gage, in 1951; brother
Loyd Huddleston; an infant daughter; and a son, James Rodney Huddleston in 1997.
Survivors include two daughters, Virginia McAllister of Dimmitt and Paula Monroe
of Wills Point; three sons, William Willis Huddleston Jr. of Waxahachie, Eddie
Howard Huddleston of San Antonio and Herman Harold Huddleston of Denton; three
brothers, Eugene Huddleston of Lubbock, H.L. Huddleston of Waxahachie and Wayne
Huddleston of Wills Point; 22 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Retired U.S. Army Col. Bobby R. Huggins, 65, of Chesapeake, Va. and formerly of
Kerens, passed away Friday, July 27, 2001 at Chesapeake General Hospital.
A funeral was conducted at 8 p.m. Aug. 2 in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home in
Great Bridge, Va. Interment will full military honors will be held at 9 a.m.
Aug. 14 at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C.
Mr. Huggins was born Aug. 14, 1935 in Houston to Lillian Fields Huggins and
Forrest G. Huggins. He was a graduated of Texas A&M University, where he earned
the Distinguished Military Graduate designation for the Class of 1959. He served
as field artillery battalion commander in his senior year. He was a member of
the honorary drill team, Ross Volunteers at A&M. He was a member of the Texas
A&M Alumni Association. He received his M.B.A. degree from the University of
Missouri.
During Mr. Huggins' 22 active-duty years in the U.S. Army, he completed
airborne/ranger training and served with the 5th Special Forces in
Vietnam. He
earned the Meritorious Services Medal on three separate occasions, Army
Commendation Medal twice, Purple Heart, National Defense Medal, Armed Forces
Expedition Medal, Vietnam Service Medal for two campaigns, the Legion of Merit
and Campaign Medal awarded by the Republic of Vietnam. He was a U.S. Army War
College Alumni, Carlisle Barracks, Pa.
Upon retirement from the U.S. Army, he was employed by RCA and General electric
until retirement in 1991.
He was preceded in death by his father, Forrest G. Huggins; and brother, Forrest
G. Huggins Jr.
Mr. Huggins is survived by his wife of 41 1/2 years, Margaret Hulen Huggins of
Chesapeake; mother, Lillian Fields Huggins; daughters, Dana Carole Huggins of
Carlisle, Pa., Lynn Elizabeth Kohler and husband Douglas of Centreville, Va. and
Amy Catherine Snyder and husband Allen of Knoxville, Tenn.; brother, Harold D.
Huggins of Nacogdoches; sister, Wanda Minor of Nacogdoches; and grandchildren,
Justin T. Eckenrode, Megan D. Eckenrode, Taylor Huggins Kohler and Ryan Michael
Kohler.

Dallas Eugene "Gene" Hull, 67, of Frost passed away Sunday, June 24, 2001 in
a car accident in Frost.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Salina, Kan. with burial at
Roselawn Cemetery in Salina, Kan.
Mr. Hull was born Jan. 30, 1934 in Lincoln, Kan. to Dallas and Ruby Hall. He was
a Korean War veteran, retired businessman and member of the Blooming Grove
Masonic Lodge No. 497. Mr. Hull and his wife had lived in Frost for the past 10
years.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Hull of Frost; sons, Bruce Hull, Michael Ray
Fry Sr. and Larry Barnett; grandsons, Michael Ray Fry Jr. and Larry C. Barnett;
great-grandsons, Michael Ray Fry III and Daniel Barnett; and brother, Donald

FORT WORTH -- Linda Johnson Hulsey died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, in Fort Worth
after suffering at length with Alzheimer's disease. Her body was willed for
medical science.
Funeral: A requiem will be offered at her parish church, St. Martin's in the
Field Episcopal Church, 223 South Pearson Lane, Keller, Texas, at 2 p.m.
Saturday. Her husband, the Rt. Rev. Sam B. Hulsey, retired bishop of the
Episcopal Diocese of Northwest Texas, will serve as celebrant. He will be
assisted by St. Martin's rector, the Rev. Frank Reeves, and its associate, the
Rev. Scott Albergate. Immediately following the service, there will be a
reception at the home of Price and Judy Hulsey, 2205 Winton Terrace West, Fort
Worth. An additional requiem will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church,
Lubbock, at 2 p.m. on Monday. It will be followed by a reception in the Parish
Hall. Bishop Hulsey will be assisted by the Rev. Peter Whitson and the Rev.
William D. Nix Jr. The preacher will be the Rev. Jo Mann.

Mrs. Hulsey was born in Waco and graduated from Corsicana High School. She
attended Mary Baldwin College in Stanton, Va., and graduated from Southern
Methodist University, where she was a sociology major and a member of Pi Beta
Phi. In Pampa, Texas, she was a member of the Junior Service League, in Midland
she was in the jewelry business, and in Lubbock, she was a member of the 1911
Needle Club and the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She volunteered at the Texas Tech Art
Museum and at the St. John's Methodist-St. Paul's Episcopal Food Bank.
Mrs. Hulsey was prized by her family and her many friends for her sense of humor
and her loyalty. She faced her illness with strength and forthrightness,
inspiring all who knew her with her courage.
Survivors: Besides her husband, her survivors are a daughter, Ashley Louise
Hulsey of Seattle and a son, Dr. Byron Christopher Hulsey and his wife,
Jennifer, of Charlottesville, Va.; her sister, Seley Johnson Fuller of
Corsicana; an aunt, Lyle Seley Masterson of Waco; her nephew, Hayes Fuller of
Waco; and numerous cousins.

She was born March 28, 1896, in Blooming Grove and was raised in Quail, where

lived in Lubbock until moving to Visalia in 1990. She was a homemaker and a
member of Pioneer Park Church of Christ in Lubbock.
A son, Deane, died in 1991.
Survivors include two sisters, Zon Hankins and Margaret White, both of Lubbock;
two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Ickles was born Jan. 14, 1930 in Corsicana, the son of the late William Lee
and Johnnie Mae Evans Ickles. in 1947 he married Betty Jean Bibb in Corsicana.
He attended Corsicana High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
He later received his associate of arts degree from Navarro Junior College and
B.S. in sociology from Texas A&M University. He served as branch claims manager
for Trinity Universal Insurance Company until his retirement in 1991. He served
as president of the Waco Claims Managers Association. He later became a sales
representative for Greg May Honda in Waco until his death. He served as a deacon
and member at First Baptist Church of Waco. He was a Mason, a member of the Palo
Duro Lodge AF&AM.
Mr. Ickles is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty J. Ickles of Waco; two
sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Suzi Ickles of San Angelo and Ronnie and
Carole Ickles of Lake Dallas; two sisters, Earlene Patterson of Fairfield and
Evelyn Ruth Fuller of Corsicana; two grandchildren, LuAnn Bradford of Dallas and
Joe Dressler of Carrollton; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ingram was born July 23, 1916 in Blooming Grove. She was a faithful,
devoted member of First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie and had retired from
Sears after 31 years of service. She leaves behind a circle of friends who will
miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by an infant twin brother, Ray Garvin; son, Kerry
Fields; husband, John Fields; sisters, Mildred North, Lucille Green and Mearl
Southard; and parents Lewlie and Nora Pearl Garvin. She married Pete Ingram in
1960 who preceded her in death in 1996.
Mrs. Ingram is survived by her brothers, Johnny Garvin of Mena, Ark. and Earl
garvin of Lancaster; sisters, Sue Brumbelow of Terrell and Billie Jean Christie
of Kerens; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Irvin; and children, Donald Irvin
and James Irvin.
Mr. Irvin is survived by his children, Eula Criddle, Curtis Irvin, Maxine Byrd

EASTLAND -- Henry Lowell "Puss" Irwin, 82, died Wednesday in an Abilene
hospital.
The body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held in Borger at a later
date. Arrangements are being made by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mr. Irwin was born in Corsicana and was a member of the first graduating class
at Phillips High School. He served with the U.S. Navy's Seabees in the Pacific
Theatre during World War II. He then returned to Phillips and worked for
Phillips Petroleum Refinery for 43 years until retiring as a shift foreman. He
formerly lived in Borger. He moved to Eastland in 1986 and was the widower of
Betty Louise Dunston Irwin, whom he married in 1941 in Pampa. He married Fern
Dunston in 1992 and was a member of Phillips First Baptist Church, which later
consolidated with Fairlane Baptist Church in Buena Vista.
Survivors include his wife, of Eastland; one daughter, Candy Bulla of Eastland;
one stepdaughter, Tanya Howard of Austin; one stepson, Zane Dunston of Manvel;
two brothers, K.S. Irwin of Amarillo and L. L. Irwin of Harlingen; one sister,
Thella Jones of Caplin, Colo.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
The body will be at the funeral home all day today.

Mrs. Isaak was born Aug. 15, 1914 in Barry. She was a loving wife, mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She will be remembered for her love
and dedication to her family and will be missed by all who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her first husband whom she was married to for 32
years, Floyce Pierce Brown; brothers, Eloy Owen, Herman Owen, James Owen, pat
Owen, T. J. Owen; sister, Minnie Ola Smith; and parents, Mr. and Mrs. John T.
Owen.
Mrs. Isaak is survived by her husband of 23 years, Howard Isaak of Glenn

Baptist Church in Eureka where she served as Sunday school secretary, church
secretary, program chairman and choir member. She united with Mt. B. Zion
Baptist Church in Kerens.
She was a graduate of Park High School of Kerens, received her administrator's
license, associate of applied science degree, food service supervisor
certificate, medication aid license and Texas Board of Licenser for nursing home
administrators. She received Administrator of the Year Award in 1988, was a
fellow of American College of Health Card Administrators in 1981, and received
an invitation by People to People to go to the Republic of China to serve as
citizen's ambassador.
Mrs. Jennings was a member of the American Cancer Society, Texas Health Care
Association, American Red Cross board member, Corsicana Housing Authority board
member, and Eureka Cemetery Association.
Her work experience consisted of a variety of talents. She retired after 29
years of devoted and dedicated service to the staff and residents of Mel Haven
Convalescent Home. She did many outstanding things in the community and would
help others daily. She dearly loved working with the elderly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willard Mangrum.
Mrs. Jennings is survived by her husband, John W. Jennings of Corsicana; sons,

Funeral services for Mrs. George E. Jester, native of Corsicana, who died in
Dallas Monday night in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert Brashear, were
held Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the Sparkman’s Ross Avenue Chapel with Rev.
Kenneth Dickson officiating.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at
Oakwood

here with Rev. Sidney Roberts, pastor of the First Methodist church,
officiating. Mrs. Jester was a member of the First Methodist church here and
taught the Young Women’s Bible Class (now the Good Will Class) for many
years.
Mrs. Jester was the widow of the late George E. Jester, former president of
the First State Bank. She was the daughter of the late Judge Sam E. Frost of
Corsicana and the granddaughter of Col. C. M. Winkler Confederate Army
leader and later member of the Texas Supreme Court.
Surviving are a daughter, a granddaughter, Jean Brashear, both of Dallas,
and three sisters, Mmes. A. N. Justiss, Guy M. Gibson and Max Almond, all of
Corsicana, and other relatives.
Mrs. Jester was a life member of Kinsloe House and was the first
hostess-cateress in 1933 when the clubhouse was opened to the women of
Corsicana and Navarro county.

2001, at his home.

Mr. Jenkins was born June 6, 1960, in Ennis to Lonnie James Jenkins Sr. and
JoAnn Wilkerson.
He attended high school in Irving and was an employee of Leggett and Platt. He
was a race car builder and driver and was an avid fan and participant of stock
car racing. A loving sone, he loved family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, JoAnn Wilkerson of Powell, grandmother, Odie Mae
Wilson of Ennis; aunts and uncles, Odell and Jeanie Wilson of Ennis, Larry and
Gwendolyn Lamp of Seven Points and Rickey and Becky Wilson of Waxahachie and 13
cousins.

Joe Edward Johnson, 55, of Corsicana passed away Saturday, May 26, 2001 at
the Veterans Hospital in Temple.

Mr. Johnson was born May 30, 1945 in Oakwood. He was a 1963 graduate of G.W.
Carver High School of Dawson and attended Navarro College. He served in the U.S.
Army from October 1965 to October 1968 was honorably discharged. He served as
fire chief of Emhouse, mayor of Emhouse for three terms, chaplain of Veteran of
Foreign Wars of District 30, post chaplain of the local VFW, assistant state
chaplain and assistant national chaplain. He was presently serving as chairman
of the deacon board of Bethany Baptist Church and city councilman of Retreat.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Lee Johnson; mother, Luddie
Johnson; and sister, Doris Jean Brackens.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Arnetta Johnson; sons, James Arthur Wilson
of Ennis and Keith Johnson and wife Tiffany of Corsicana; daughters, Kim Jackson
of Fort Worth, Beverly Cohen and husband Richard of Richmond Hills, Ga. and Tina

Henderson County and lived in Malakoff for 39 years. He married Frances Evelyn
Drake Oct. 25, 1962 in Malakoff. He was in law enforcement and served as chief
of police in Malakoff from 1992 to 1995. He was a member of the Henderson County
Peace Officers Association and had served in the National Guard. He was a member
of First Baptist Church of Kerens.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Felda Johnson.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Frances E. Johnson of Malakoff; mother,
Lena Mae Johnson of Kerens; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Sims and Daymon Sims
of Malakoff; sister-in-law, Carolyn Drake of Well; and grandchildren, Zac and
Baylie Sims of Malakoff.

Weldon "Rex" Johnson, 77, of Hubbard passed away Saturday, June 16, 2001 at
the Marlin VA hospital.

Mr. Johnson was born May 5, 1924 in Mexia. He had been a resident of Hubbard for
the past 20 years after living most of his life in Mexia. He had also lived in
Harlingen for several years. He was a self-employed welder and also was a truck
driver and an antique furniture refinisher. Mr. Johnson was an Army veteran
having served as a private first class during
World War II. He was with an
armored tank division that fought at the Battle of the Bulge. He was a Baptist,
but also attended the Church of God in Hubbard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Jean Brackeen Johnson Jan. 2,
1999; brothers, Barney Johnson and H. L. Johnson; and sister, Ruby Lee Bounds.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his sons, Weldon Gene Johnson, Donald Ray Johnson,
Roger Neal Johnson and Dennis Lynn Johnson, all of Harlingen; daughters, Brenda
Joy English of Combs, Glenda Joyce Allen of Harlingen and Sharon Kay Bodenhamer

Willie Carl Anderson Jones, 90, of Corsicana passed away Saturday, Feb. 17,
2001 at Heritage Oaks Nursing Home.
Graveside services were held Feb. 24 at Goldwaithe Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was born Sept. 27, 1910 in Pinkston, just west of Corsicana, to
Nettie and Wilburn Anderson. She married James R. Jones Oct. 31, 1938. She was a
stay-at-home mother until she took her first job and drew her first paycheck at
age 65.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Virgil; and sister, Estel.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, James R. Jones of Corsicana; children,
Jay Jones of The Woodlands, John Jones of New Home, Georgia Wooten of Dallas,
Kenneth Jones of Roseville, Calif. and Juanita Bullard of Corsicana; 12

formerly of Frost, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2001 at Heritage Oaks
Retirement Village.

Mrs. Jones was born July 17, 1902 in Frost to Edward and Emma Mitchell. She was
a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Frost where she taught Sunday
School for many years. She received her bachelor's degree from Baylor University
where she was a member of the Baylor University Heritage Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Jones; son, Jack Edward Jones;
parents; brothers, Curtis Patterson and Rex Patterson; and sister, Iris Payne.

EASTLAND - Thelma Leona Jones, 85, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Dr.

Mrs. Jones was born in Rice, Texas, and attended school in Eastland. She and her
husband farmed in West Texas for several years before moving to Cisco in the
early 1930s. She was a homemaker. She started working at the Boss Glove Factory
in 1948 and in the late 1960s, was employed by Hollywood Vassarette. She taught
Sunday school at First Baptist Church and was the widow of S. B. "Fritz" Jones.
Survivors include two sons, Robert N. Jones of Sunrise Beach and Sam L. Jones of
Lake Leon; three daughters, Joy Beth Hansen and Betty N. Payne, both of Midland,
and Kathie Platt of Austin; three brothers, Noel Layfield of Brownwood, Earl
Layfield of Kingsland and Dennis Layfield of Lawton, Okla.; four sisters, Maudie

Itasca. She taught music for many years and was an accomplished artist.

Tuesday in Corsicana.

Mr. Jordan was born in Blue Grove and served with the U.S. Army Infantry during
World War II. He was a retired oilfield worker. He moved to Blooming Grove
several years ago and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Abilene.
He was a Baptist.
Survivors include two sons, Floyd Jordan of Blooming Grove and Lloyd Jordan of

Mr. Judson was born in Akron, Ohio and grew up in Dallas. He was a graduate of
Sunset High School and North Texas State University in Denton. He joined the
Marine Corps during World War II and was honored to be selected as a member of
the United States Marine Corps Band. He was in the insurance business in El
Paso, Waco and Corsicana. He was a retired insurance businessman and part owner
of Cooper, Eady, Judson and Polk. He served on the boards for First United
Methodist Church, Corsicana Country Club, Family Service and various committees
for the welfare of Corsicana. He was a wonderful husband, father and a dear
friend to many. All who knew him will miss his kindness and upbeat personality.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vance S. Judson and Kate Butcher
Judson; and son, David A. Judson.
Mr. Judson is survived by his wife, Martha Nell "Nellie" Judson; son and
daughter-in-law, Phil and Darlene Judson of Corsicana; grandsons, Matt Judson of
Fort Worth and Jody Judson of Corsicana; and brother and sister-in-law, Russell
and Jean Judson of Waco.

Jean Elain Hampton Kalaf, 68, of Waco passed away Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at
her residence.

She was born Sept. 5, 1932 in Dallas. She was raised in Dawson and was a
graduate of Dawson High School. She then graduated from Baylor University with a
B.A. degree and taught English in the public school system. She had lived in
Waco for the past 20 years. She was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marion Harvey Hampton July 13, 2001;
and mother, Lorene Davis Hampton in 1995.
Survivors include her sons, Kenneth Ray Kalaf of Dillon, Colo. and Stephen Ross
Kalaf of Fairfax, Va.; and grandchildren, Kris Kalaf, Tara Kalaf and Amber Kalaf.

FORT WORTH -- Mavis C. Kastner, 96, a retired traffic clerk
of Ralston Purina, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at the home of her daughter in
Streetman.
Memorial service: 3 p.m. Wednesday at West Berry Church of Christ. Graveside
service: private. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Funeral Home.

Mavis C. Kastner was born July 28, 1904, in Gainesville. She had resided in Fort
Worth for over 50 years. She was educated at Abilene Christian Academy and
College and TCU. She was an organizing member of the GATA Social Club.
She retired from Ralston Purina in 1963. Prior to retirement, she had served as
president of the Women's Traffic Club and the Tarrant County Pharmaceutical
Auxiliary.
Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law, Ann and John Allen of Streetman; grandsons,
John Ellis Allen Jr. and wife, Paula, of Ruidoso, N.M., Doug Allen of Fort Worth

Vernon V. Allison, 73, of Dallas passed away Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, after a
lengthy illness.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lovers Lane Methodist Church in Dallas, with
ministers Dr. Bill Bryan, Matt Stroder and San Copeland conducting. Interment
will follow at 4:30 p.m. at Emmett Cemetery.
Born March 15, 1926 in Wardville, Okla., he was a veteran of
World War II. On July 25, 1953, he
married Sue Daniel in Dallas where they lived for 46 years. He was a manager of
Luby's and later Wyatt's cafeterias in Dallas for over 30 years.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Sue; daughter, Kim and husband Jerry; son,
Brad and wife Lynda; grandchildren, Allison and Ashley Taylor and Lindsey and
Cory Allison; brothers, Pat Allison and Bob Stonecepher of Columbus, Ohio;
brother-in-law, McAfee Daniel of Corsicana.

She died on Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, in Oklahoma City.
She was born on Aug. 15, 1911, in Navarro County. She moved from Brownfield to
Oklahoma in 1987. She married Joseph Lester Keel in Corsicana. He died in 1972.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, J. W. of Paramount, Calif., and Danny Lee of
Oklahoma City; and a daughter, Delma Leona Benton of Oklahoma City.

She was born May 7, 1922, in Navarro County. She moved to Hockley County in 1925
from Navarro County. She moved to Levelland from the Pettit Community in 1978.
She graduated from Pettit schools. She was a member of College Avenue Baptist
Church.

FORT WORTH -- Willie Will Keeton Sr., 65, a construction
worker, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at a local hospital.

Mr. Keeton was born June 7, 1935, in Emhouse.

Deborah Uzzel Kelley, 45, passed away as a result of a traffic accident
Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001 that also took the lives of her husband and daughter.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Wortham with
the Rev. Louie Jones and the Rev. Glenn McCollum officiating. Interment will
follow at Woodland Cemetery in Kirvin.
Mrs. Kelley was born Oct. 13, 1955 in Landsteel, Germany to Norris and Mickie
Uzzel. She graduated from Waco High School in 1974 and attended McLennan
Community College and Texas State Technical College. She graduated from TSTC
with a degree in computer science. She was employed by Navarro Pecan in
Corsicana where she worked as a computer programmer. She was an active member of
First Baptist Church in Kirvin.
She was preceded in death by her loving father, Norris Uzzel Sr. in 1968.
Mrs. Kelley is survived by five children, Jennifer McCoslin and Johnny Jackson,
both of Streetman, and Byron McDaniel, Ashley McDaniel and Joe McDaniel, all of
Kirvin; grandchildren, Ethan and Erika McCoslin of Streetman; mother, Mickie
Uzzel of Waco; sister, Susan McConnell and husband Jim of Arlington; brothers,
Norris Uzzel Jr. of Waco and Jon Uzzel of Denton.

Mrs. Kelley was born Nov. 1, 1905 in Kerens, the only child of Dr. David Currie
and Ann Roberts Currie. Her father practiced medicine in the Kerens area during
the early 1900s. Mrs. Kelley was a retired school teacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Kelley; parents, Dr. David and
Ann Currie; and sister, Homer Currie Boren.
Mrs. Kelley is survived by her daughter, Helen Kelley Lee of Dallas;
grandchildren, Kelley Lee of Athens and Laurie Lee Pappas of Austin;
great-grandchildren, Amanda and Jennifer Lee, both of Athens, and Alexander
Pappas of Austin; and niece, Mary Jane Weiss of San Antonio.

Mrs. Kelley was born April 28, 1916 in Comanche to Edward and Lillie Hawley. She
worked as a nurse's aid for many years. She will be greatly missed by all.

Edna Jean Luttrull, 78, passed away Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, at Silverleaf Nursing
Home in Garland after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Luttrull was born May 30, 1921 in Campbell to William Mack and Hattie Bob

a member of First Baptist Church of Blooming Grove.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Luttrull is survived by her husband, James Luttrull of Blooming Grove;
daughters, Nancy Hewlett, Letha Grisham and Sherry Luttrull, all of Garland, and
Betty "B.J." Elrod of Richardson; sons, Robert Luttrull of Lumberton

Howard Grant, 82, of Waco and formerly of Corsicana, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999,
in a Temple hospital.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Harrison
Switch, with the Rev. Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow at Pilgrim Rest
Cemetery.
Mr. Grant was born June 6, 1917 in Corsicana. He was a member of the United
States Army from 1942 to 1946. He worked in Corsicana, Maypearl and Blooming
Grove. He united with Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in 1975.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and many friends that were
like family to him.
Survivors include his inherited family, Henry and Linda Wiley and their
children, Andreia Foster, Alkahha Thompson, Hendrix Wiley, Averie Franklin,
Geroderick Franklin, Hendley Wiley and Susan; and devoted friend, Anna Williams
of Temple.
