Willie Lee Coker passed away on Friday, June 26, 2009, at Heritage Oaks
Retirement Village. She was born Willie Lee Brewer on July 28, 1916, to
James Malford and Mattie Elizabeth Brewer in Hamilton County and was the
eldest of 11 children. At age 19, she married
Olen C. Coker in October
1935 and he preceded her in death on March 25, 1985, just seven months
before they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Willie
Lee and Olen made their home in Corsicana and raised four children. She
was employed at Corsicana Cotton Mill and Haggar Slack Factory and
received much enjoyment after retiring from Haggar Slack operating a
children's day care in her home. She was an active member of Trinity
Baptist Church for many years having taught Sunday school, Vacation
Bible School, and sang in the choir and serving God and her church was
her greatest joy. Her life was a testament to her love of God and her
family. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and would
seldom miss an activity they were involved in or a family
gathering. Willie Lee's family includes son James Coker and
daughter-in-law Anita of Carrollton; daughter Elizabeth Bryant and
son-in-law James of Waco; son B. J. Coker and daughter-in-law Ann of
Corsicana; son Jim and daughter-in-law Camille of College Station; 14
grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and eight
great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Geneva and
Bradley Speed of Corsicana and Angie Torrance of Arlington; brothers J. M.
and Juanita Brewer of Corsicana, Jerral and Nancy Brewer of Quinlan, S.M.
and Elsie Brewer of Arlington; and sister-in-law Edith Brewer of
Corsicana. She will be missed by special friend Sue Shipley and her
Trinity Baptist Church family. Visitation will be held from noon to 2
p.m. Sunday, June 28, at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at
2 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Floyd
Petersen officiating, special music by granddaughter Tammy Johnston, and
eulogy by Marvin Reader, grandson-in-law. Interment will follow at
Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and
grandsons-in-law Larry Acock, Jeff Coker, Kyle Coker, Chris Grey, Blair
Halliwell, Jeff Kelly, Kenny Kolkhorst and Randy Schweyher. The family

Mrs. Carolyn Jane Williams, 69, of Corsicana passed away on June 26,
2009 in Corsicana. She was born on March 10, 1940 in Purdon to Andrew
and Letha (Farmer) Davis. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Kuykendall
of Corsicana; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Vernell Farmer of
Corsicana, and Jeff and Marfa Farmer of Rice. She is also survived by
grandchildren Jason Kuykendall and Justin Kuykendall, both of Locena,
and Lucas Farmer of Rice; brother, Jacky Davis of Houston; special
friend, Cid Garcia; three great granddaughters, one great grandson, and
several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Visitation will be 6 to 8
p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2009, at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral Services

Don Dotson, 72, of Frost, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009, at his
home in Frost. Don was born March 13, 1937, in Cooper, the son of the
late Sam Posey and Fay Taylor Dotson. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He had been in the auto body repair business most of his life. Survivors
include his wife, Jenny Dotson of Frost; a son, Don Dotson and wife
Tammy of Waxahachie; daughters, Norma Welborn and husband Roy of Frost,
Nina Dotson of Dallas, Sandra Wickware and husband Jay of Frost, Mary
Lee Kennemore and husband Joe of Corsicana, Barbara Kelley and husband
Kevin of Welling, Okla., and Donna Mitchell and husband Greg of
Arlington; brother, Duane Dotson of Ohio; 12 grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral service is
scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at First Baptist Church of Frost

Brian David Drain, 42, of Chatfield passed away on Friday, June 26,
2009, in Corsicana. He was born on Sept. 8, 1966, in Corsicana. He was a
veteran having served his country two years in the U.S. Air Force at
various bases overseas. Mr. Drain was preceded in death by his father,
Robert Drain; grandparents, R.M. and Margie Drain and Wayne and Bobbie
Burkhalter. He is survived by his wife, Andrea Drain of Chatfield;
daughters, Halee McCoy and Mackenzie Drain of Chatfield; mother, Peggy
Drain of Chatfield; brothers, Eric Drain and wife Tonya of Chatfield and
Jason Drain and wife Misty of Walnut Springs; niece, Brittnie Heard of
Montgomery; nephews, Roclan Drain of Chatfield and Collin, Taylor and

Calvin C. Rich, 83, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2009, in Dallas,
after a two-month illness and surgery. His brothers and sisters knew him
as "Feller." He was born July 9, 1925, in Black Hills, a community
northwest of Corsicana in Navarro County. He is survived by his wife of
65 years, Mattie L. Hutchins Rich; brother, Alvin and Gale Rich of
Dallas; children, Mike Eugene Rich, Vickie Marie and Joe Hudson Looney,
Marvin Dale and Sandy Borne Rich, James Calvin and Sheryl Hendricks
Rich; grandchildren, Mike Eugene Rich Jr., Misty Marie Hudson, Mary
Michelle Lilly, Marc Edward Looney, John David Rich, Zachary Dale Rich,
David James Rich and Andrew Kyle Rich; and great-grandchildren, Aaron, Emari, Maryan, Eli, Avery Bay and Jack. Calvin began his career in the
oil fields of West Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi before beginning
work at Dallas Power and Light (DP and L) in 1947. He retired in 1978 as
a supervisor in the Underground Distribution Division with 34 years of
service. He then worked for Westinghouse Electric for two and one-half
years before returning home to work with the Baptist Men's Group in
Navarro County, donating time and money to help those in need. He also
served neighbors by building and repairing their homes or doing whatever
was necessary. In the past few years he again retired to his farm, sold
the cows and baled hay for neighbors. He was an active member and
teacher at Oak Grove Baptist, Dallas; Pleasant Grove First Baptist for
16 years, Dallas; and in Corsicana at Northside Baptist for 27 years and
Cornerstone Baptist. Calvin was ordained a deacon on Oct. 4, 1970, and
mentored men, both young and old, throughout his lifetime. He was a
godly man with strong convictions about his responsibilities and his
family. He was preceded in death by his parents, O.S. Rich and Lena Ray
Rich; his brother, Melvin; and sisters, Lucille, Louise, Lena Ruth and
Lavern. He served as a leader in the Black Hills Cemetery Association for

Services for Helen Elizabeth Baker Donnell, 74, of Athens are
scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, July 3, at First Baptist Church in
Athens with Pastor Roger Johnson and the Rev. Bennie W. Baker
officiating. Mrs. Donnell died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, in Athens
surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 13, 1935 in
Rogers, to the late Eddie and Annie Mae Upshaw. She worked as a
caregiver for Homecare Image and served as a church musician for
various churches for over 40 years.She was preceded in death by
three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her children whom
she loved very much, Jason (Doris) Baker, Ronny Baker, Ricky Baker,
Durenda G. McGee, Janice Baker, Sharon (Damon) Wilson, Brenda (Jarvas)
Causey, Bennie (Janet) Baker, Curby Blaylock, Chris Baker, and
Louise Criner; sisters, Margree Tyler, Bertha (Chester) Nealy, and
Eunice (Don) Hawkins; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Louise Dunbar Stansell, 84, of Corsicana passed away Saturday, June
27, 2009, at her residence. Funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Thursday, July 2, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Pelham with
the Rev. Dr. Elijah Stansell officiating. Interment will follow at
Woodland Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Michael Williams, Jesse
Crawford, Herbert Anderson and Alassane Diatta. Mrs. Stansell was
born Oct. 22, 1924, in Teague. She was a graduate of Booker T.
Washington High School in Teague. She was awarded her bachelor's
degree in liberal arts from the University of Arizona. She also
earned a master's degree in education. She was preceded in death by
Jimmie Victor Stansell in 1972. Survivors include her daughter,
Barbara G. Martin (James) of Chicago, Ill.; three granddaughters,
Dr. Nicole Martin, Leslie Michelle Martin and Ayesha Louise Diatta;
and a second daughter, Patricia Diatta resides with her husband

Scott "Teance" Richards
Beatrice Scott Richards went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 2,
2009, at Methodist Hospital in Houston. Originally a resident of
Corsicana, she came to live with her daughter in Angleton in May 2006.
Beatrice was born in Corsicana on Jan. 13, 1922, to Wilson and Dell
Scott. She married Less Richards in 1937. They were married for 66 years
until his death in 2004. She was preceded in death by her parents, her
beloved husband, an infant daughter Paula, her brother Carl Scott, and
son-in-law Dick Orand. She is survived by her daughter, Reba Orand; son
and daughter-in-law, James and Tina Richards; and seven grandchildren,
Kelly Kohutek and husband Billy, Becky McGlaun and husband Jeff, David
Richards, Karen Underwood, Michael Richards and wife Ann, Jason and Amy
Bendy. Beatrice also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, Kaysie Oden
and her husband Dustin, Stacey Kohutek, Tyler McGlaun, Joseph and James
Richards; and two great-great-grandchildren, Reese and Jake Oden.
Beatrice received the Lord as her Savior when she was 11 years old at
First Assembly of God Church. In March 2000, she became a member of
Calvary Worship Center where Dr. Gary Johnson was her pastor until her
move to Angleton in 2006. She became a member of and enjoyed fellowship
with First Assembly of God Church in Angleton, with Mike Hammond as her
pastor. She worked at Adams Hat Factory, then at Corsicana State Home
where she was a house parent supervisor, but her lifetime purpose was to
serve her Lord and others. Beatrice was an excellent cook and used this
gift to benefit her family and church by providing food for various
church functions and ministries. Beatrice's family will truly miss her
wisdom and sweet and gentle spirit. One of her greatest gifts to us all
was the legacy she left of being a selfless, servant of God who was
committed to intercessory prayer for her family and friends. We are so
grateful for the years that God allowed us to have her here with
us.Beatrice's family will welcome visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July
5, at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.

Deene Davidson "Amy" Goldsmith
Mrs. Irma "Amy" Deene Davidson Goldsmith passed away on Saturday, July
4, 2009, at Country Meadows Health and Rehab Center of Corsicana, at the
age of 90. She was born on Nov. 2, 1918, and was raised in West, Texas.
Mrs. Goldsmith's greatest joys were her husband and life-long love,
Charles A. Goldsmith, and her family. Mr. and Mrs. Goldsmith were
married for 71 years and sweethearts even longer. She was a homemaker at
heart, making every living space a home, no matter how humble. She loved
to cook and made many memorable meals, especially with vegetables from
her own garden. Her surviving family still misses her cooking even
though she has been unable to use that gift for several years. She loved
flowers and music, which was fortunate, for her other family members
were always making music of some kind or in the process of learning a
piece of music. In her early years, she would often sing along and
sometimes created her own songs.For about 28 years, Mrs. Goldsmith
worked alongside her husband in textile mills in Texas, including West,
Itasca, Mexia, Corsicana, Bonham and Hillsboro. She took pride in her
work as a battery filler, in the manufacturing of cotton cloth. Mrs.
Goldsmith was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Goldsmith; a
son, Larry Charles Goldsmith; her parents, Lora Ellen and Cam Singleton
Davidson Sr.; a sister, Katherine Vrana; and a brother, Cam Singleton
Davidson Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Jo Patterson and
husband Leslie of Corsicana;, six grandchildren and their spouses,
Phyllis and Wes Cope, Peri Patterson, David and Judy Patterson, Kimberly
Scholl, Debbie and Frank Holloway, and Terri McClusky; eleven great
grandchildren; and three sisters, Nellie Bine, Vivian McGinnis, and
Laura Grace and husband Judd. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m.
on Sunday, July 5, 2009, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be

Nannie Emma Stogner Drake
Nannie Emma Stogner Drake, born Sept. 1, 1915, in Navarro County
near Frost, Texas, died peacefully in her sleep March 18, 2009, in
Athens. After her marriage to Marless Leo Drake on Nov. 24, 1935,
she briefly lived in Palestine before settling down in Malakoff. She
and Marless reared their three children, Barbara Ann, Donna and
Chris in the same house on Highway 31 East while building a
wholesale fuel distribution business. She also earned a reputation
for church and civic activism. Following her husband's death in
1978, she served terms on Malakoff's City Council, was honored by
the Chamber of Commerce as 1980's "Citizen of the Year," and
continued working enthusiastically at First Baptist Church as well
as with the Friends of the Red Waller Municipal Library. Following a
brief retirement sojourn in Houston, she returned to the Henderson
County area to be nearer her daughter and extended East Texas
family.
Predeceased by her loving parents, A.J. and Minnie Ann Jackson
Stogner, her older daughter, Barbara Ann, her much-loved six
siblings, her husband, and her grandson, Brady Dale Brownlow, she is
survived by daughter, Donna Drake Farmer and husband, Bob, of
Athens; son, Chris Drake and wife Sylvia of Houston; grandchildren,
Kelley and Casey Brownlow of Tyler, Laura and Monty Main of
Malakoff, Tammy and Benjamin Brownlow of Hallsville, Aimee and
Blaine Drake, Alexandra Drake, and Wade Andrew Drake of Houston.
With two step-grandchildren, Deb and Bob Washmon of Tyler and Kim
and Wade Farmer of Kyle, she also leaves great-grandsons Landon,
Noah, George and Harris and one great-granddaughter, Rebecca, as
well as numerous step-grand, great-grand, great-great-grandchildren,
and four nieces spread throughout Texas.
Family visitation was held Friday, March 20, 2009, from 6:30-8:30
p.m. at Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff. Funeral services were
held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Malakoff's First
Baptist Church with the Rev. Byron Orand, former FBC pastor in the
1960s, officiating and under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home
of Malakoff.
Pallbearers are Casey Brownlow, Benjamin Brownlow, Blaine Drake,
Wade Drake, Monty Main, Wade Farmer, and Fred Carter.
Granddaughters Laura Brownlow Main and Alexandra Drake are honorary
pallbearers.

McDONALD, WILLIAM ELGIE, born Feb. 22, 1925 in Pinkston, TX to Mamie
Lou Clark and Willie Leroy McDonald passed away March 12, 2003 in
Lewisville, TX. He graduated from high school in Barry, TX and
attended Navarro Junior College in Corsicana. William worked all
over the US on a pipeline before working as a quality control
inspector at Otis Engineering for 26 years of service before
retiring. A great teacher, who taught by example, an accomplished
woodworker, and an honorable man who never shirked responsibility. A
lover of fishing and boating, an accomplished water skier and
certified scuba diver. He enjoyed traveling, but liked being at home
best. William loved his dog Molly with all his heart....they were
constant companions. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his
wife Verna A. McDonald, three children; Phil McDonald, Connie Baker,
and Brenda Godwin, two step-children; Debra Litt and Robert
McDonald, along with seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren,
and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at
Dalton & Son Funeral home Chapel on Friday, March 14, 2003 at

She was born February 16, 1918, in Emhouse. She is preceded in death

Andy and Sue (Davis) Royall. She was an accountant at the
Corsicana State Home for 28 years before retiring in 1975. Mrs. Potts
was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Dawson, holding
various offices since 1935. She taught adult Sunday school classes for
many years, the latest one being the "Pairs and Spares" class since
1974. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, joining that group
in 1937 when it was called the Woman's Missionary Society. Mrs. Potts
held membership in the James Blair Chapter of the Daughters of the
American Revolution, the Thomas Meredith Chapter of Colonial Dames XVII
Century, Kinsloe House (Navarro County Woman's Club House), and the
Woman's Study Club of Dawson until it disbanded in 1996.She was preceded
in death by her husband, Paul R. Potts in 1958; her daughter, Sue Potts
Bumpers; and son-in-law, James W. Bumpers. Survivors include two
grandchildren, Nancy Bumpers Juvrud of El Paso and Jim Bumpers Jr. of
McGregor; three great-grandchildren, Heather Lane Smith of Leander,
Tommye Lane Juvrud of Austin and Jodie Bumpers of Nacogdoches; four
great-great-grandchildren, Kristopher and Marc Dubielak and Sydney and
Taryn Smith; nephew, John Tom Potts of Temple; cousins, Bud and Rosemary

Edwin Bancroft, the "doctor of gentle, loving care" to his patients,
reached the welcoming hands of our gracious Lord and Savior, on June 19,
2009. He passed away at his home in Eureka with his loving wife of 28
years, Carolyn, by his side. Ed was born Sept. 8, 1922, in Quitman,
Miss., and grew up and graduated from Powell High, received a football
scholarship and his bachelor's degree from Southwestern
University/Georgetown. He graduated from Baylor College of Medicine
followed by an internship at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, Okla., and
residencies as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps (Korean War)
at bases in North Carolina and California. In the 1950s, he opened his
practice in Houston at St. Luke's, St. Joseph, and Memorial Hermann
Hospital Southwest. For over 40 years, Dr. "Ed" Bancroft, practiced
obstetrics and gynecology at Memorial (Hermann) Hospital Southwest. He
served as chief of staff, president of The Doctors Club, the Harris
County Medical and Houston Ob-Gyn Societies. Thousands of Houston babies
were delivered by Dr. Ed over many years. On outings, both here and
abroad, he and Carolyn were often approached by a proud parent saying,
"You delivered my children." Always a gentleman, his friends and
patients give strong testimony to the warmth and graciousness of his
skilled and loving care. The Bancrofts retired to the family home in
Corsicana, where Ed enjoyed his love of ranching, fishing, hunting, and
golf. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Allen and Pearl
Pauline Bancroft, and stepmother, Hazel "Mimi" Bancroft; brother, Thomas
Eugene; daughter, Brenda Louise; stepbrother, Jack Corbin; stepson, Sean
Smyrni; and faithful canine hunting companion, Guy. Ed is survived by
his loving wife and longtime caregiver, Carolyn Collier Bancroft; son
and wife, Jason and Massie Smyrni; Ed's daughters, Milanne Bancroft
(daughter, Rebecca), Kay Harris (husband, Dale, and son, Adam); son,
Russell Bancroft; grandson, Matthew Johnson, and his son, Charles
Tiernan Johnson; and Ed's beloved canine, Lulu. Special thanks to Dr.
Dale Campbell, Hand-in-Hand Hospice, Angels at Home, Lanettia and
Regina. Ed's final, loving gift for future physicians was donating his
body to U.T. Southwestern Medical School. A memorial service in
celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. July 19 at First
Methodist Church, 320 N. 15th St., Corsicana. Memorials in Ed's name may
be sent to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Cancer

ROWE, - Corsicana, Texas. Jan. 19. - Dallas Rowe, 66, was found dead
in his bed at the I.O.O.F. Old Folks' Home Wednesday. Heart failure
caused his death. He was a ward of Melissa lodge. Surviving is a
nephew, Richard Rowe, Beeville. Word from his nephew or from his
lodge is being awaited before funeral arrangements are made.

Funeral services for Dallas Rowe, aged 66 years, inmate of the I. O.
O. F. Old Folks Home, who was found dead in bed Wednesday morning
from heart failure were held Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock from
the Sutherland Undertaking Parlors with interment in the I. O. O. F.
lot in Oakwood Cemetery.
He had not been feeling well for several days.
Mr. Rowe was a ward of the Melissa Lodge.
Surviving is a nephew, Richard Rowe, Beeville.

Coley, beloved husband, father, son and brother, passed into the Lord's
arms on Saturday, July 11, 2009, due to injuries in a motorcycle
accident. David was born on July 16, 1955, and lived most of his life in
Corsicana. As the owner of David E. Coley Company, he was a
Broker/Realtor, as well as certified appraiser. David loved Corsicana
and was active in many community organizations and activities. He was a
member of First Baptist Church of Corsicana, where he worked on the
audio/visual team. He was past president of Corsicana Optimist Club,
active in the Corsicana Chamber of Commerce, past president of the 100
Club, as well as an active member of the Navarro County Appraisal Board.
David was active in Navarro Bikers Club, where he participated in Toys
for Tots, Motorcycle Santa, and many fund-raising/community service
activities. David was a staunch supporter of children and youth
programs, serving as president of the PTO at Fannin Elementary during
the time his children attended, as well as an active supporter of
Corsicana athletics and Navarro County Youth Expo. David also served as
the campaign treasurer for State Rep. Byron Cook.David leaves behind
many loving family members: his wife Dawn, daughter Sadie, and son
Jonah; parents, Joyce and Howard Coley of Corsicana; sister,
brother-in-law and nephew of College Station, Luann, Ray and Adam
Argersinger; mother-in-law, Dolores Knutson of Wisconsin; sisters-in-law
and brothers-in-law, Darlene and Gary Otterson of Missouri, Diane and
Pat Mulroy of Wisconsin, and Debbie and Rollie Johnson of Wisconsin;

Aleen Hayes Wright died on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, from complications of
Parkinson's Disease. Aleen was preceded in death by her husband of 65
years, Elven Wright; and is survived by her son, Weldon Wright, and
daughter-in-law, Julie Wright; her brother, Raymond Hayes; and many
beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Aleen was born in Navarro County on
Oct. 6, 1922. She was a graduate of Richland High School where she was a
good student and basketball player. She married Elven Wright and
traveled with him to Illinois, Wisconsin and California during World War
II. Aleen and Elven returned to Richland after the war and after short
stays in Dallas and Tyler, settled permanently in Corsicana to raise
their family. She was the owner of The Smart Shop in Corsicana and The
Wright Shop in Ennis and was a member of the Corsicana Chamber of
Commerce. She always drew her strength from her Christian faith and was
a longtime member of the Church of Christ. Visitation will be held from
5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

recognitions for DPS Region Commanders Award for Outstanding
Performance, Distinguished Service Award, and Optimist Club
Law Enforcement Award. He is survived by wife, Verna Belle
Francis Crook; daughter, Brenda Crook Aycock; granddaughter,
Lauren Aycock; great-grandson, Payton Aycock; sister, Helen
Stem and husband Alva; brothers, Billy Crook and wife Pat,
Rob Crook and wife Beverly, and Aubrey Crook; sister-in-law,
Margaret McLennan; brother-in-law, Carroll Francis and wife
Fran; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in
death by brothers, Coke Crook, Emery Lee Crook, and Edward
Crook.Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July
19, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.Services will be 10
a.m. Monday, July 20, at First United Methodist Church with
Mike Alexander and Clayton Smith officiating. Interment will
follow at Oakwood

OBITUARY
Mr. Vernon Larremore, the son of the late Mr. Arthur
and Mrs. Emma Ellison Larremore, was born August 16, 1916 in
Lockhart, Caldwell County, Texas.
He met and married Miss Rosetta Anderson and they were blessed with
a beautiful family of lovely daughters and caring sons. Mr. Vernon
sered his country as a soldier in the U.S. Army and was honorably
discharged in 1944.
He now has fulfilled his purpose and his many friends and family
members, though they may weep awhile, will miss him.
Mr. Larremore's sudden death came Saturday, March 23, 1991 in
Corsicana, Texas.
Those remaining to cherish his memories are: his wife, Mrs. Rosetta
Larremore of Blooming Grove, Texas; fgive daughters, Ms.
Carolyn Larremore of Seattle, Washington, Ms. Pat Larremore, Mrs.

Mrs. Pearlie Mae Park Bartee was born November 14, 1906 in Barry,
Texas to the parentage of Mr. Charlie and Mrs. Mary Park. She
received her formal education in the Corsicana School District. She
professed a faith in Christ and united with the Olive Grove Baptist
Church of Blooming Grove, Texas.
She met and married Mr. Norman Bartee on August 11, 1930 and to this
union eight children were born. Mr. Bartee and a daughter preceded
her in death.
Mrs. Bartee was a diligent worker in the church serving in many
areas and as a choir member. She also was a member of Progressive
Order of Pilgrims, Blooming Grove, Texas.
Life's departure came on October 30, 1991.
Survivors include three daughters; Dorothy Jean Jones of Dallas,
Lena F. Freeman of Amarillo and Ruth Bartee of Missouri City, Tx.;
four sons; Billy Bartee of Tyler, Richard W. Bartee and Thomas G.
Bartee, both of Corsicana and Robert E. Bartee of Dallas; 17
grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Daisy Hawkins of
Blooming Grove; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.

Mrs. Lucy Cook Prescott was born August 14, 1902, the daughter of
the late Mr. Jess Cook and Mrs. Dora Jennings Cook in Brushie
Prairie, Texas.
She was an active member of the Olive Grove Baptist Church for many
years where she served faithfully on the Usher Board.
She was married to Mr. Courtney Prescott who preceded her in death
in 1977. "Aunt Lucy" as she was affectionately called by her
relativ3s and friends, will be missed in her community. She was
called from labor to reward on Saturday May 22, 1993.
Those remaining to cherish her memories are: two devoted sisters,
Mrs. Nora Williams, Blooming Grove and Mrs. Ivey Lee Clay of Hobbs,
New Mexico; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Verna D. Nelson, Blooming Grove, a
host of nieces, nephews, the community citizens, other relatives and
many dear friends.

Mrs. Lucy Cook Prescott, 90, of Blooming Grove, died May 22, 1993,
in Blooming Grove.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Olive Grove Baptist Church
in Blooming Grove, with the Rev. Aubrey Hart officiating. Scott
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was a member of Olive Grove Baptist Church, where she worked as
an usher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Courtney Prescott, in
1977.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Nora Williams of Blooming Grove
and Mrs. Ivey Lee Clay of Hobbs, N.M.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Verna
Dean Nelson of Blooming Grove; and a host of nieces, nephews and

Mr. James Lewis "Bubba" Melton was born February 5, 1962 in
Blooming Grove, Texas to the parentage of the late Doris Melton and
father, John Larremore.
He attended Electuary School in Dallas, Texas and he completed his
education at Blooming Grove High School
He professed Christ at an early age. Later he moved to Seattle,
Washington where he met and married Andrea M. Foley, and to this
union three children were born.

Mrs. Hollie Gee Harvey was born in Rice, Texas to the parentage of
Mr. William Gee and Mrs. Curlie Gee. She received her formal
education in the Blooming Grove School District. She prfessed a
faith in Christ in her early life and united with the Tyree Chapel
A.M.E. Church in Blooming Grove. While living in California, she was
a faithful member of Mr. Zion Baptist Church. She met and married
MR. Ernest Harvey who preceded her in death.
The Angel of Silence entered into her life on October 11, 1983.

OBITUARY
Mr. Gussie Gee was born August 12, 1918 the son of
the late Mr. William & Mrs. Curley Younger Gee in White Rock, Texas.
He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. After moving to
Navarro County, he united with the Tyree Chapel A.M.E. Church,
Blooming Grove, Texas. There he served faithfully as Senior Steward
for many years.
He met and married Miss Robbie Blanford and to this union two sons
were born; he was a veteran of
World War II and former
employee of Navarro College.
The angel of silence closed his eyes in death on Tuesday, February
6, 1990 at the V. A. Hospital, Temple, Texas.
One of the many reasons Mr. Gee, "a proud man", will be so sorely
missed, is his power to encourage others in the work of the Lord.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Mrs. Robbie Gee of Corsicana;
two faithful sons, Mr. Buford Gee and MR. Gussie Curlie Gee both of
Corsicana; two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Jones of Corsicana and Mrs.

Mrs. Tee Blanford Jackson was born ot the parentage of the late John
Henry Blanford and Mrs. Janie Younger Blanford on June 22, 1901 in
Waxahachie, Texas.
She received her education from the Public School in Blooming Grove,
Texas.
She professed a faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an
early age. She united with the Olive Grove Baptist Church where she
worked faithfully until her health failed. She also served as
recording secretary of the Progressive Order of Pilgrims.
She is loved and remembered by her children: Mr. Harold B. Jackson
of Corsicana, Tx., Ms. Velma J. Coleman, Mr. James H. Jackson, Sr.
and Mr. Wilbert Leo Jackson all fo Dallas, Tx.; two grandsons; four
granddaughters; one great granddaughter; and a host of nieces,
nephews, relatives, friends, and a loving devoted daughter-in-law,
Darlene Jackson.

OBITUARY
Brother Henry C. Blanford was born June 20, 1909 in Blooming Grove,
Texas, to the parentage of Mr. Lonnie Blanford and Mrs. Fleta Hardee
Blanford. He received his formal education in Blooming Grove School
District.
He was a World War II Veteran having served in the United States
Army.
Brother Blanford accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early
age. He was an active and faithful member of First Independent
Baptist Church serving as Chairman of the Deacon Board and in the
choir.
He met and married Miss Rogers Merdia
Brother Blanford worked for many years for Mr. Red Smith at his
service station. He was a lover of humanity and was always helping
others. This love caused him to be involved in funeral service
working for Calhoun Funeral Home and later for Ross and Johnson
Mortuary.
Life departure came on June 14, 1993.
Survivors: wife, Rogers Blanford of Corsicana; one daughter, Rosetta
Moore of Corsicana; two sons, Henry C. Blanford, Jr. of Dallas and
James Merdia of Corsicana; three sisters, Bernice Gee and Jessie
Ross both of Corsicana and Cleopatra Sanford of Ft. Worth; 12
grandchildren; Victor Morrison, Hazel Moore, Charles Moore, Lavonia
Moore, Mark Moore, James Merdia, Jr., Johnny Merida, David Merida,
George Merida, Ray Merdia, Jimmy Merdia and Mattie Von; 12
great-grandchildren; two nephews, Gussie Gee of DeSoto and Buford

Henry C. Blanford, 83, of Corsicana, died June 14, 1993, at Navarro
Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the First Independent
Baptist Church. Burial will be in the
Woodland Cemetery under the
direction of Ross and Johnson Mortuary.
He served as a deacon at the First Independent Baptist Church and
was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was retired from Mr. Red Smith,
and was a funeral attendant at Ross and Johnson Mortuary.
Survivors include his wife, Rogers L. Blanford of Corsicana; one
daughter, Rosetta Moore of Corsicana; two sons, Henry C. Blanford
Jr. of Dallas and James Merdia of Corsicana; 12 grandchildren,
Victor Morrison, Hazel Moore, Charles Moore, Lavonia Moore, Mark
Moore, James Merdia Jr., Johnny Merdia, David Merdia, George Merdia,
Ray Merdia, Jimmy Merdia and Mattie Von; 12 great-grandchildren;

"Titter" Williams, Sr.

OBITUARY
Mr. Frank Williams Sr. Was born December 2, 1909, the son of the
late Mr. Charlie Williams and Mrs. Mahalia Williams in Ennis, Texas.
He united with the Tyree A.M.E. Church and remained a member until
death. Some fifty-eight years ago, he met and married Miss Nora
Cook. To this union was born one daughter and three sons.
Mr. Williams was very athletically inclined. He played baseball with
the "Dallas Black Cats", rode in rodeos throughout the Central Texas
area and was an amateur boxer.
"Daddy Titter" as he was affectionately called by all the young
people in the neighborhood was a very strong man, a devoted husband,
a loving father and one who always helped troubled youngsters.
He closed his eyes in his last sleep on the second day of July, 199
in Ennis Texas.
He leaves to cherish his memory; a devoted wife, Mrs. Nora Williams
of Blooming Grove; one daughter, Mrs. Mae L. Jackson of Dallas;
three sons, Rev. Rufus C. Williams of Fort Worth; Mr. Frank
Williams, Jr. and MR. Roger Lee Williams both of Dallas; one sister,
Mrs. Addie Mae Smith of Los Angeles, California; two brothers,
Bishop C. D. Williams of Anchorage, Alaska and Mr. Joe Williams of

Ennis Care Center in Ennis.
