Fidelia "Dealie" (Gantt) Green
Nov 15, 1853 - Feb 13, 1920
IN MEMORIAM
Sacred to the Memory of Dealie Green
Dealie Green was born in "Union County, in 1853, came to Lamar
county Ark., in 1865 and lived in Arkansas fifteen years. Came to
Navarro county in 1888 and lived the remainder of her life in
Navarro county. Dealie Green departed this life on Feb. 13th, 1920.
The last few hours of her life her suffering was very great. She
bore her fate with much courage, being heard to say many times "Oh
Lord if it be thy will relieve me of this suffering for I am ready
to go." It seemed that all she dreaded was leaving her children to
battle with this sinful, unfriendly world. She joined the Baptist
church at Lone Oak in 1888 and was a faithful member. She kept her
Bible at her bedside during her sickness and through all the
struggles and trials of life she found the Christ she served
precious guide and as age and disease, tore down her Tabernacle of
clay the building not made with hands became more real to her. Now
clear friends, Sister Dealie Green, is not dead, she is only dead to
this simple world. Her good deeds and training of her family are
left behind. She taught her family to live in the fear and
admonition of the Lord. She leaves four boys and four girls to
sadly mourn her departure. The only consoling thought we have is the
assurance that she has gone to a brighter world than this, there
watching and waiting for you and I and all Christian people; where
there will be no more sad parting and where the lighting dew of
death never falls and adiews and farewells are sounds unknown. Now
may this sorrow bring us all nearer to God is our prayer.

Edwina, the six-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. McLeod of
Mildred, received burns about 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the
effects of which she died at 4 o'clock yesterday.

clothing caught fire. No one was at home but her mother and some

and after suffering great agony for many hours, the little one
passed away. The remains were interred here in Oakwood this

Notes:
--
In Memoriam.
Edwena McLeod
was born
February 1st,
1911 and died
January 13th
1918. Her little
mission on this
earth was six
years, eleven
months and 13
days. We might
say she was like
a rose that
budded on earth
to bloom in
heaven. Weep not
dear father and
mother, sisters
and brothers, as
those who have
no hope, but
look to him that
doeth all things
well, be as Job
of old and say,
“The Lord giveth
and the name of
the Lord,” for
little Edwena’s
spirit is at
rest in the
Paradise of God
waiting the
resurrection of
that mortal
body, for if we
believe that
Jesus died and
rose again, even
so they also who
sleep in Jesus
will God bring
with him, 1
Thess. 4:14.
So father and
mother you will
get to meet your
darling girl
when God shall
come, for we
have that
blessed hope
that was spoken
by our Savior in
Matt. 19:14. But
Jesus said
suffer the
little children
to come unto me,
for of such is
the kingdom of
heaven.
We see that the
kingdom of
Heaven is made
up of such as
little children
so may we humble
ourselves as
little children,
under the mighty
hand of God,
that we might
meet little
Edwena on the
sunny banks of
sweet
deliverance.
A little one
from us is gone,
A little voice
is stilled.
A place is
vacant in our
home,
That never can
be filled.
We miss the tiny
prattling feet,
The sound of
which we just
now.
Realize was so
sweet.
We miss her at
the fireside,
We miss her
vacant chair.
We miss her
everywhere.
We even miss her
little golden
hair.
HER UNCLE.
