The remains were interred at the Zion's Rest cemetery this afternoon at 4 o’clock, Rev. H. B. Landrum officiating.

Notes:

---

On November 23rd, 1915, the Death Angel visited the home of Cortez Sikes and claimed him as its own. All that loving hands and medical skill could do was done in an effort to save the live that was so dear to the sorrowing family, but God had called and the obedient spirit was ready to go. For over a year the health of this good man had been steadily failing, and from the first there had been a premonition, a fear, in the hearts of those to whom he was nearest, that his life was not to last long. He took his bed only about two weeks before his death, but all through his long illness he was quiet and uncomplaining, and when the end came, said he was going home. He was buried at Zion's Rest cemetery, November 24.

On December 11, not quite three weeks after the death of Mr. Sikes his little son, Charles Cortez, aged 9 months, was laid to rest also. The suffering of this tender little babe were very great, and death brought a sweet relief. The grief-stricken wife and mother especially, has our sympathy. It is she who feels most alone since the departure of her loved ones, and it is to her most particularly that this is addressed. May she understand clearly that God's will is always best, and may her greatest comfort rest in that realization.

“How joyful is the hope that lingers,
When loved ones cross death's sea;
That we, when all earth's toils are ended,
With them may ever be.”

Dec. 28, 1915.

Bessie Jo Nelson Dead

Nelson, aged one year and 11 months, died Sunday May 24, 1925, at 9:15 p.m., after an illness of some three weeks, death being caused by complications developing from measles. For a week or more her death was not unexpected by physicians and those familiar with her condition. Bessie Jo made a wonderful struggle against death, as days before the end came it was thought that she could not possible survive a few hours. All within the power of skilled physicians and the watchful, untiring hands of loved ones and friends to alleviate her suffering and prolong her life was done, but to no avail. God needed Bessie Jo and He took her home.

The funeral service was held at the Methodist church Monday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock, conducted by Rev. W. T. Boulware, assisted by Rev. D. E. Moore, and J. T. McKeown, after which the little body was laid to rest in the Dawson cemetery. The large floral offering was indeed beautiful.
