Notes:
---
On November 23rd, 1915, the Death Angel visited the home of Cortez
Sikes and claimed him as its own. All that loving hands and medical
skill could do was done in an effort to save the live that was so
dear to the sorrowing family, but God had called and the obedient
spirit was ready to go. For over a year the health of this good man
had been steadily failing, and from the first there had been a
premonition, a fear, in the hearts of those to whom he was nearest,
that his life was not to last long. He took his bed only about two
weeks before his death, but all through his long illness he was
quiet and uncomplaining, and when the end came, said he was going
home. He was buried at Zion's Rest cemetery, November 24.
On December 11, not quite three weeks after the death of Mr. Sikes
his little son, Charles Cortez, aged 9 months, was laid to rest
also. The suffering of this tender little babe were very great, and
death brought a sweet relief. The grief-stricken wife and mother
especially, has our sympathy. It is she who feels most alone since
the departure of her loved ones, and it is to her most particularly
that this is addressed. May she understand clearly that God's will
is always best, and may her greatest comfort rest in that
realization.
“How joyful is the hope that lingers,
When loved ones cross death's sea;
That we, when all earth's toils are ended,
With them may ever be.”

side of the wagon ran into a deep rut.
The jar threw Mildred Lee and her 7-year-old sister, Alline, out of
the wagon, and the rear wheel of the wagon passed over the head of
Mildred Lee, crushing her skull so badly that she died almost
instantly.
Her sister, Alline, was unhurt.
The remains of Mildred Lee were interred in the
Zion's Rest cemetery
this afternoon at 2:30, with the Rev. M. L. Hunt of Emhouse
officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. Farmer have the sympathy of many friends in their great
