Mrs. Georgia Ann Allen, age 77, of Rockwall passed away at the
Broadmoor Medical Lodge in Rockwall on Friday, July 19, 2013. She
was born on October 24, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas to John Harmon
and Ida Mae Wigley.
Georgia was a loving, caring mother, grandmother and sister. She
spent her life caring for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Allie Davis
and her granddaughter, Alicia Bunch. She is survived by her
children; Pamela Marks and husband, Donald of Rockwall, Texas,
Patricia Allen of Rockwall, Texas, Penny Allen of Red Oak , Texas
and Paul Allen and wife, Kim of The Woodlands, Texas. Georgia is
also survived by her granddaughters; Michelle Sickles of The Colony,
Texas, Ashley Allen of Georgia, and Brittany Allen of The Woodlands,
Texas, and by her great granddaughter, Ella Sickles of The Colony,
Texas. She is also survived by her brothers; Johnny Wigley of
Austin, Texas and Buddy Wigley of Corsicana, Texas. She leaves
behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on
Monday, July 22, 2013 at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana. Funeral
services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 22, 2013 at Corley
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darren W. Heil officiating. Burial
will follow at Richland
Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Danny Wigley, Gary Wigley, Scott
Wigley, Ronny Wigley, Johnny Dale Wigley, and Blake Wigley.

was born on February 12, 1960 In Dallas County to parents,
Ogle Lee and Bobbie Faye Boyd, Sr.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Kay Fitzgerald and a
brother, Jim “Cowboy” Boyd.
She is survived by her sons, Adam Eugene Stout and Lucas Ray
Stout both of Gillette, WY; father, Ogle Lee Boyd, Sr. of
Frost; mother Bobbie Faye Boyd of Corsicana; sisters, Sandy

James
Dale Holloway, 56, of Corsicana was called to heaven
Wednesday, July 17, 2013. He was born in Corsicana Nov.
13, 1956 to James and Mamie Holloway, both of whom
preceded him in death.
Known as “Possum” to his friends, James was a trucker
for nearly 30 years. Although he made his living and
ended his journey on the road, James was happiest out on
a boat in the ocean.
James is survived by his former wife Kathy Holloway and
their five children; daughter Stacy Pyeatt and husband,
Jonathan and their five children Madison, Samantha, Max,
Bella and Adalyn; daughter Melissa Holloway and her
daughter Kelissa; daughter Rebecca Ryan and husband
Harris; daughter Jessica Holloway and her son Peyson;
and his only son, Jason Holloway. He is also survived by
his brother Steve Holloway, sister Deborah Holloway,
brother Gary Holloway and wife Debbie, brother Mike
Holloway and wife Misty, and numerous cousins, nieces
and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July
22, 2013 at Second Avenue Missionary Baptist Church,
3045 W. Second Ave., Corsicana.

Charles A. Kent, 95, of Powell passed away peacefully at
his home on Monday, July 22, 2013. He was born Oct. 3,
1917 in Eureka to Mollie Wilson and Mataw Kent.
Charles was a lifetime farmer and rancher and owner of
Kent Feed Store in Powell until his retirement in 2006.
He was a member of Eureka Masonic Lodge for 67 years and
a member of Wesley and Kerens United Methodist Churches.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife
of 62 years Vesta Grace Priddy Kent.
Survivors include his wife of nine years, Hattie
Washburn Kent; daughter Molly Paschal and husband Phil;
son Dan Kent and wife Gloria; grandchildren, Ellen and
Jason Sodd, Carrie and Todd Teetz, Mataw and Dusti Kent,
Shannon and Judy Paschal, Shae and Jossy Paschal and
Karin Paschal and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at
Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at
Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leslie

Lucille Naomi Reffitt, 77, of Corsicana passed away
Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Navarro Regional Hospital in
Corsicana. She was born July 12, 1936 in Ashland, Ky. to
parents, Cecil and Kathleen Crance.
She was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church. She
volunteered for
15 years with the Navarro Regional Hospital Auxillary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Denver Reffitt;
parents, a brother; and a grandson, Johnny Reffitt.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Beal and husband
David of Corsicana; sons, Ronnie Reffitt and wife
Margaret of Corsicana and Johnny Ray Reffitt and wife
Darla of Forney; grandsons, Michael Burleson of Dallas
and John Ray Reffitt, Jr. and wife Lily of Dallas;
granddaughters, Kasey Beaird and husband Johnny of
Corsicana, Tammy Kelsey of Purdon, Rebekah Cranford and
husband Camron of Rockwall, Rachel Martinez and husband
Javier of Garland; 10 great-grandchildren;
granddaughter-in-law, Sheli Reffitt of Corsicana;
sister, Wilma Cochran and husband Charles of Axtell; and
numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jimie Earl Powell, 76, of Roberts, Idaho, passed away on July 19,
2013, at his home after a lingering illness. He was under the care
of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
Jimie was born June 29, 1937, in Hubbard, Texas, to Earl Powell and
Buni Mae Pullin Powell. He attended school in Hubbard, and also
attended Idaho State University. Jimie worked as a Machinist for
Bucyrus Erie in Pocatello.
On Feb. 12, 1984, he married Kathleen Lydia Olson. He enjoyed
fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two half-brothers, and one
sister.
Survivors include his loving spouse of 29 years, Kathleen;
step-daughter, Stacy (John) Curran of Idaho Falls, Idaho;
step-daughter, Monica Rhoades of Chubbuck, Idaho; daughter, Robin
(Dave) Barrett of Unionville, Conn.; son, James Powell of Pocatello,
Idaho; son, Nathan
(Colleen) Powell of Boise, Idaho; son, Trevis (Kim) Powell of
Pocatello, Idaho; and numerous grandchildren and great
grandchildren.
Graveside services will take place in Blooming Grove, Texas, at a
later date. Interment will be in the
Rose Hill Cemetery in
Blooming Grove.

Thomas "Tommy" Snell

James
Thomas “Tommy” Snell, 71, of Lubbock passed away Sunday,
July 14, 2013. He was born Oct. 9, 1941 in Ennis to Tom
and Nell Snell. On June 29, 1965 he and Peggy Chandler
were united in marriage at the Kerens Presbyterian
Church.
Tommy served his country as a Lieutenant with the
Texas
National Guard during the 1960's through 1980's while
receiving his Bachelor of Science degree at East Texas
State University in 1974. He also served as the
Laboratory Director for Medical Arts Clinic in
Corsicana. After moving to Belton, he was the Laboratory
Director for House Medical Clinic in Killeen. In
December of 1982, he graduated from Southwest Texas
State University with a Master of Science in Health
Professions. He went on to work in the Administration
and Audiology Divisions of the Texas Department of
Health in Lubbock retiring in 2006. Tommy was a member
of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lubbock.
Tommy was a loving husband and father and he is survived
by his wife of
48 years, Peggy; daughter Amy Snell of Lubbock, and son
Greg and wife Desi of Spring Branch, Texas as well as
two grandchildren Luke and Katie Snell. He is also
survived by his sister, Laura Jean Isom of San Angelo,
numerous nieces and nephews, and his lifelong friend, Ed
Whitacre.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July
18, 2013 at Paschal Funeral Home in Kerens.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July
19, 2013 at the
Kerens Cemetery in Kerens with the Rev. Charles
Reese officiating.

Marie Christian, 85, of Corsicana passed away Friday,
July 12,
2013 at 9:30 p.m. after a short illness.
Betty was born to George and Bessie Dezern in Enid,
Okla. on April 11, 1928. Her family moved to Pampa,
Texas where Betty met the love of her life, George
Christian. They married on June 6, 1943. This year they
celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, surrounded by
family.
Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, handwork, and
reading. She was a member of Westhill Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by two sons, Clifton and Randy.
Mrs. Christian is survived by her husband, George. Her
living legacy includes daughters Cheryl Johnson and
husband Tommy of Purdon; Peggy Corder and husband Tollie
of Beaumont; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren
and one great-grandchild expected in November.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013 at
Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at
Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Sam Dilbeck
officiating. Burial will be 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, July

Billy Ray Peterson passed away in Kaufman on Saturday, July 13,
2013. He was born in Rosenthal, Texas on May 4, 1941 to John Perry
Peterson and Minnie Methea Loewe.
Billy was raised in Dawson and graduated from Dawson High School.
After high school Billy joined the United States Navy and was
discharged in 1968. After the service Billy moved to Dallas and
attended electrician school. He was an electrician for over 45
years. He worked for Kennedy Electric in Mesquite for 10 years
before retiring in 2007. Billy loved to restore old tractors and was
a member of the North Texas Tractor Club and the Methodist Church.
On Jan. 11, 1969 Billy married Joyce Elaine Hopping in Dallas at
Grace Temple Baptist Church.
His parents and sister Myrtle Diann Caraway preceded Billy in death.
He is survived by his wife Joyce of Kaufman; stepsons Gary Aaron of
Des Moines, Iowa and Greg Aaron of Seagoville; brother John Perry
Peterson Jr. of Austin; sisters: Betty Huddleston of Fort Worth and
Katheryn Bankston of Belton; nieces, nephews and many other
relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at
Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home with interment following in DFW
National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.

William Kimsey Posey Jr., 85, passed away Sunday,
July 14, 2013, at his residence near Teague.
He was born Jan. 23, 1928 in Teague and graduated from
Teague High School with the Class of 1945. He attended
Navarro College and Baylor University and played
football for both schools before entering into the
United States Marine Corps. He served in China with the
1st Marine Division. Mr. Posey married Emma Jean
Campbell on Aug. 26, 1950, in Teague and shared over 62
years together. He worked for the railroad in Teague for
50 years in various capacities, 47 of which were spent
as a fireman and engineer for Rock Island, Burlington
Northern, and B.N.S.F.
Railways. Mr. Posey enjoyed raising quarter horses and
researching family and horse pedigrees, but his greatest
enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends.
He loved rodeo and was a member of the Teague Rodeo
Association for many years. Mr. Posey was a member of
First Baptist Church in Teague.
Mr. Posey was preceded in death by his parents, William
Kinsey Sr. and Jewell Posey; one brother, K.W. (Kenneth)
Posey; and two great-grandsons, Luke Bates and Baby Boy
Ritchey.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Posey of Teague; one
son, Bill Posey and wife Genell of Burleson; four
daughters, Vickilynn Posey McReynolds of Coolidge, Judy
Bates and husband Tom of Teague, Kim Story and husband
Larry of Mexia, and Karri Minefee and husband James of
Teague; grandchildren, Mandi Lenoir and husband Marty
and family of Mexia, Will Posey and wife Kristyn and

Greenwood Cemetery with an escort and honor guard
provided by the Patriot Guard.

Charles Steelman died Sunday afternoon in his Duncanville residence.
He was 46.

the past 18 years. He was a member of the Baptist church.

His body was donated to the Anatomical Board of the State of Texas
at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School of Dallas.

She was the former Margaret Joyner of Corsicana.

BAYTOWN—Acy E. Drew Sr., of Baytown, died Thursday in Scott and
White Hospital in Temple.

Drew was a 61-year resident of Baytown and operated a gift shop
there for 33 years. He was a deacon of Memorial Baptist Church in
Baytown, a charter member of the Baytown Rotary Club, and a member
of Goose Creek Masonic Lodge 1192.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Drew of Baytown; a son, A. E.
Drew, Jr. of Waco; thre grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. G. D. Parris
of Corsicana; and two nephews, Tom Parris and Jim Parris, both of

A former employee at the Corsicana Cotton Mill, he was employed in
Ft. Worth at the time of his death.
Survivors include his wife, Olivia Porter, Ft. Worth; one son, Randy
Porter, Corsicana; father Bill Porter, Hillsboro; two brothers, Coy
Porter and Lloyd Porter, of Hillsboro; and a number of nieces and

She was born Aug. 21, 1913, in Navarro County to John B. Blair and
Ruby Jackson Blair. She attended school in Corsicana and married
Edward C. Frost in 1933 in Corsicana. She moved to Dallas in 1942
and to Waxahachie in 1983. She was associated with Smith Realtors in
Dallas in sales for several years. She was a member 50 years of the
Order of Eastern Star and was a member of Ridgewood Methodist Church
of Dallas.
She was preceded in death by a son in 1982.
Survivors include her husband, Edward C. Frost of Waxahachie; one
daughter-in-law, Vickie Frost of Ennis; and three grandchildren,
Adrian Frost, Carrie Frost and Traci Frost, all of Ennis.

Hospital in Dallas.

officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Garrett was born Sept. 15, 1931, in Mertens. He was raised in
Mertens and lived his entire life in the Hubbard area. He worked in
pipeline construction and was a superintendent of the Pipeline
Division of the H. P. Zachery Company. He was a Mason and he and his
wife were members of the Avion Travel Club and traveled extensively
across the United States. He was a member of the First Baptist
Church of Hubbard.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores McIntyre Garrett of Hubbard; his
brother, Robert Lee Garrett, Jr. of Hubbard; two sisters, Dorothy
Anderson of Hubbard and Fay Quinn of Austin; seven nephews; three
nieces; and several great-nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Sidney Marks, who would have been 86 Friday, died Wednesday
afternoon at her home, 1224 West Fourth Ave., after an extended
illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Corley
Funeral Home Chapel with Rabbi Ernest Joseph of Temple Beth-el
officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at 1 p.m. in
the old Hebrew Cemetery in Waco.
A native of Waco, she and her husband, long a civic and religious
leader of this community, were married in 1914 in Waco and would
have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this month. She was
the former Goldie Rosenthal.
Mrs. Marks held a life membership in the Council of Jewish Women of
Dallas and throughout her 60 year residency in Corsicana was an
active member of her synagogue, Temple Beth-el, where she served
several terms as president of the Ladies Auxiliary.
The Marks are the parents of one son, Alvin Marks, who died two
years ago.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her daughter-in-law, Mrs.
Ann Marks of El Paso; a grandson, James Allen Marks, a law student
at the University of Texas; a granddaughter, Miss Janet Sue Marks of
El Paso, attending art school in California.

FUNERAL SERVICES HELD TODAY VICTIMS OF TRUCK ACCIDENT
GORDON BURIED CAMPBELL CEMETERY AND WHITE AT HILLSBORO
Funeral services for Fred F. Gordon, 23 years old, who was killed in
a motor truck accident on the oil field road near Mildred Friday,
were held at the home of his uncle, W. T. Gordon, on North Beaton
street, at 3:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Burial was in the
Campbell cemetery, near Drane.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Gordon and one
sister, of Barry.
Funeral services for H. R. White, 24 years old, who was killed in
the same accident in which Gordon lost his life were held at the
home of his parents in Hillsboro at 4 o’clock Saturday afternoon. He
is survived by his wife, three small children, ages 4, 3, and 1
years; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.D. White and three brothers, of
Hillsboro, and another brother. Thomas White, truck driver in the
oil fields. The family lived at Mildred in the Humble camp, but were
visiting in Hillsboro when White lost his life. His wife and father
came from Hillsboro Friday night and returned Saturday. The body was
forwarded Saturday morning over the Cotton Belt by Bank Sutherland,
undertaker.
The men were working for the Humble Oil & Refining Company. White
was a truck driver and had been with the Humble for the past two or
three years, and Gordon was his helper, and had been working for the
Humble for about six weeks.
The accident occurred about 2:30 o’clock Friday afternoon when their
truck turned over on the road between the City Lake Bridge and the
Mildred-Navarro junction. They were caught underneath the heavy
truck. Gordon's head was crushed and White was crushed in the chest
and his left arm was broken. It was necessary to raise one corner of
the truck ------in order to get the bodies out.
Sutherland's ambulance was dispatched to the scene of the accident
and the bodies were brought to the undertaking parlors.

Robert Allen Muirhead, 55, of Brenham, died recently in Houston.
Services were 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hampton-Vaughan Funeral Home, with

Methodist Church, officiating. Burial with Masonic graveside rites
conducted by Faith Lodge No. 1158 was in Riverside Cemetery.
He was born Nov. 10, 1938, in Wichita Falls. He was a 1955 graduate
of Wichita Falls High School. He joined the Navy during the Korean
War. He worked for Wichita Poster until moving to Brenham in 1986.
He was a member of Faith Masonic Lodge No. 1158, Dallas Consistory
Scottish Rite Maskat Shrine and BPOE, where he served three terms as
exalted ruler in Brenham Elks Club. He was a member of the Sheriff's
Auxiliary in Brenham and sponsored a barbecue cooking team in
Washington county. He was chairman of the advertising committee for
the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He was a gold and deep sea
fisherman. He was employed by Southwest Advertising in outdoor
advertising. He was a member of Floral Heights United Methodist
Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Oliver of Houston; three
sons, Russell Muirhead of Dallas, Richard Muirhead of Myrtle Point,
Ore., and Randy Muirhead of San Bernadino, Calif.; his parents, Mr.

J. W. B. Hale, 65-year-old Lubbock resident and former resident of
Blooming Grove, died at his home in Lubbock Monday after an illness
of several months.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church at Anton, and
Masonic graveside services were conducted at the Anton cemetery.
Hale was born in Blooming Grove and resided there until 1925.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Harry Crowley of
Littlefield, Mrs. Joe Trammel of Lubbock, and Mrs. James Smith of
Petersburg; one son, W. T. Hale of Lubbock; a sister, Mrs. R. N.

Corsicana for the past 11 years, died Wednesday at Memorial
Hospital.

Methodist Church in Mertens with the Rev. Peyton Goodman
officiating, and burial will be in Richland Cemetery at Mertens.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Corsicana.
Surviving are a son, Lonnie Kemp of Ackerly; three daughters, Mrs.
Rena Garrett and Mrs. D. N. Glass, Jr. of Texas City, and Mrs. Jack

Clarence Edward Howze, 57, of Waco, died Dec. 13, 1989, at his
residence in Waco.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fairview Cemetery
in Hubbard, and the Rev. Thomas D. Roberson will officiate. Wade
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Feb. 16, 1932, in Mexia, and lived most of his life in
Hubbard and Waco. He was a retired truck driver, and was a member of
the Pentecostal church.
Survivors include his father, Daniel Howze of Hubbard; three
daughters, Sherry Seay of Waco, Kim Munday of Chilton, and Clare
Thomas of Mexia; one son, David Howze of Amarillo; three brothers,
Dewey Howze of McGregor, Bill Howze of Axtell, and James Howze of

She was born Oct. 20, 1988, in Arkansas and was a resident of
Trinidad for 75 years.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. from the Sparkman's
Oak Cliff Chapel with interment in Laurel Land. The rites were
conducted by Rev. M. C. Nanace and Rev. Buel Crouch.
Surviving are two other sons, F. J. Davenport, Lone Oak, Ark.; and
M. C. Davenport, Duncanville; three daughters, Mrs. Nell Chenault,
Dallas; Mrs. Fannie Howell, St. Louis, and Mrs. Ruth Beaupre,

He was a resident of Mesquite for 11 years. He worked for Lone Star

He is survived by his wife, Donna Gee Helms of Mesquite; one son,
Wesley Eden Helms of Mesquite; his parents, Harvey and Jo Rene Helms

Services were 11 a.m. Monday at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church in

Pelham Community cemetery.

He was a graduate of Grant High School and an active member of the
Young Peoples Department of Allen Chapel where he was a
representative to the Connectional Y.P.Congress in South Carolina.

July 14, 2000 at Grimes St. Joseph Health Center.
Services were 10 a.m. Tuesday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota
with the Rev. Donald Gilmore officiating. Interment followed
Evergreen Cemetery in Keith.
Mrs. Crenshaw was born March 25, 1932 in Henderson. she was a retail
fabric store manager. She was a member of First United Pentecostal
Church of Navasota.
She is survived by her husband, Mackree Sam “Mack” Crenshaw of
Courtney; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Bruce and Sandra Elaine
Crenshaw of Anderson, James and Donna Crenshaw of Madisonville and
Clifford and Sharon Crenshaw of Bryan; daughters and sons-in-law,

BLOOMING GROVE (Spl.)—Mrs. Ethel N. Childress, 83, a life-long
resident of Navarro County, died Saturday at 5 a.m. in Mel-Haven
Nursing Home after a long illness.
Mrs. Childress, who was born Jan. 27, 1888, in the Cryer Creek
Community, had made her home in Emhouse for most of her life.
She was a member of the Blooming Grove United Methodist Church.
Her husband, Charlie Childress, preceded her in death in December,
1948. She is survived by two sons, Bud Childress of Blooming Grove
and Bill Childress of Emhouse; two daughters, Mrs. Gracie Ward of
Richardson and Mrs. Charlene Collie of Emhouse; 12 grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren; five brothers, Jim Derden of Blooming Grove,
Buck and Buddy Derden of Dallas, Jessie Derden of Bryan and Earl
Derden of Houston; and two sisters, Mrs. Inez Goode of Irving and
Mrs. Ruth Whitsitt of Houston.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church in
Blooming Grove with Rev. Ronnie Chesser and the Rev. Paul Rone
officiating. Burial will be in Bardwell Cemetery with McCormick
Funeral Home in Blooming Grove directing.

Funeral services for Charlie Clay Childress, aged 60 years, retired
farmer, who died at Blooming Grove early Wednesday, were held
Thursday afternoon from the Corley Funeral Chapel. Burial was in the
Bardwell cemetery. The graveside rites were conducted by the Rankin
Masonic lodge. Masons were pallbearers.
The rites were conducted by Rev. A. J. Kirkland, pastor of the
Missionary Baptist church.
Childress resided in Ellis county before moving to Blooming Grove 18
years ago. He was a native of Alabama.
Surviving are his wife of Blooming Grove; four sons, J. O., C. C.,
Jr., and T. C. Childress all of Blooming Grove, and J. B. Childress,
Ennis; two daughters, Mrs. R. C. Ward, Dallas, and Mrs. T. R.
Collier, Blooming Grove; nine grand-children; four brothers, Forney
Childress, Electra; Burk Childress, Bowie; Rufus Childress, Olney,

Joint funeral rites for the Charles H. Greene family of four of
Huntsville who were killed in a plane crash Tuesday near Huntsville
were held there Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church.
Burial was in the Adickes Addition Cemetery.
Killed in the crash with two others were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Greene
and their children, Charlotte, 7, and Charles Jr., 6.
Mrs. Greene was the former Barbara Owen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Owen of Corsicana.

the First Baptist Church for Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Greene and
their children, Charlotte 7, and Charles Jr., 6, who were victims of
a plane crash Tuesday night which claimed two other lives. Burial
will be in the Adickes Addition Cemetery in Huntsville.
Surviving Mrs. Greene are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Owen of
Corsicana; a brother R. B. Owen, Jr., Dallas; and a sister, Mrs. T.

S. M. WOODARD OF BLOOMING GROVE DIED IN DALLAS
PROMINENT BANKER AND BUSINESS MAN SUCCUMBS IN DALLAS SANITARIUM
Special to the Sun.
Blooming Grove, Texas, Jan. 24.—S. M. Woodard, age 59 years, banker
and prominent business man of this city, died in St. Paul's
sanitarium at Dallas Sunday evening at 6 o’clock. Funeral services
were held Monday afternoon at 4 o’clock with burial at Sulphur
Springs, Texas, the body leaving Dallas at noon Monday.
Mr. Woodard is survived by his wife and one son, P. H. Woodard, of
this city.
The deceased was one of the leading citizens of this community,
always taking an active part in every movement for the advancement
of the town. He was a steward in the Methodist church, a Mason and
an Odd Fellow.
At the time of his death he was a director in the Citizens National
Bank and was cashier of the Blooming Grove State bank four years
prior to its consolidation in December with the Citizens National
Bank. In addition to his banking connections he was an extensive
property owner.
