Educational Facilities
The City of Corsicana, together with Navarro County, has a most modern and efficient system of public schools.  Corsicana's public school system, with an aggregate of nine schools and 118 teachers and supervisors is recognized as one of the finest in the State of Texas.  The total value of all public school property in the city, embracing land, buildings, and equipment, approximates $1,214,309.00.

Total scholastic enrollment for the school year of 1937 - 1938, in the City of Corsicana public schools was 3,723; of which 2,831 were white pupils, and 892 were negro pupils.

The aggregate enrollment in all public schools in Navarro County for the school year of 1937 - 1938 was 15,190; of which 11,073 were white pupils and 4,117 were negro pupils.

The indicated average annual enrollment in Corsicana public schools in 4,000 scholastics; of which 3,000 are white and 1,000 are negro.

The average annual payroll, embracing all teachers and supervisors, of Corsicana's public schools is $135,000.00.

There are 97 white teachers and supervisors, and 21 negro teachers and supervisors in Corsicana public schools.

Corsicana's public school system includes: One senior high school (Grades: 9, 10, and 11); one junior high school (Grades: 7 and 8); three elementary schools (Grades 1 to 6); two elementary schools (Grades 1 to 3); one negro school (Grades 1 to 11); and one negro school (Grades 1 to 4).  The aggregate being 9 schools.

Composition of Scholastics: Predicated on the foregoing exhibit relating to the aggregate scholastic enrollment in all public schools located within the confines on Navarro County, for the school year of 1937 - 1938, it is obvious that approximately 72.9 per cent are white pupils, and 27.1 per cent are colored pupils.

Actual Ratio of Scholastics to Population: The actual ratio of scholastics to population in the City of Corsicana, and Navarro County, as of date: January 1st of each year, for the years: 1920, 1930, and 1938, is presented in the following exhibit:
