EMHOUSE GRADUATES
TWENTY SENIORS ON
TUESDAY
EVENING
EMHOUSE, May.29—(Spl.)—The Emhouse
High School closed a very successful school term May 27th
with the graduation of twenty members of the Senior class.
The baccalaureate service was held on Sunday
evening May 25th, with the Rev. Kirby McGuire, pastor of
Memorial Baptist church, Corsicana delivering a very forceful and
inspirational sermon, at the school auditorium. The commencement
exercises on Tuesday evening were in the nature of a pageant, in
which the members of the Senior Class conducted the program instead
of having an outside speaker. The pageant was entitled “The Light
of Truth” and the stage setting was a replica of a Greek altar
presided over by the Spirit of Light, Supt. Melvin Taylor in
presenting the diplomas, listed the various personal attributes of
the class members. Principal J. W. Riddlesperger made the
presentation of the awards certificates.
Scholarship honors of the graduating class
went to Marjorie Hopkins, valedictorian, and Charles Payne,
salutatorian.
Other members to graduate were: Wayne Allen,
Eva Allen, Velma Copeland, B. W. Gamble, Harrell Gray, Virgil
Jackson, Lois King, Jim Love,
James E. McMillian,
Walton McNeel,
Katheryn Miley, Louise Patterson, Clarence Ray, Katheryn Reames,
Geraldine Tinkle, Betty Ruth Tomlin, Delma Rea Vest, and Katy
Watkins.
