The records in the Courthouse at Corsicana recite that the League Common school district number 60 was established and named League January, 1884.

Frost Common school district number 60 was established and named Frost May 1890.  W.R. Cain, H. C. Henry and D. W. Smith were appointed presiding officers to hold a trustee election.

In July 1892 Grimes school district #82 was created out of part of the territory of the Frost District.

Professor J. E. Nowlin was probably the first superintendent of the Frost School. Miss Lula Morgan, now Mrs. Ethridge of Frost, taught with Professor Nowlin one year. The school building at that time was a one room wooden structure. Mrs. Ethridge states that they both taught in one room. Professor Nowlin instructed the larger children in the North end of the room and she taught the smaller ones in the South end of the room. The school was not graded at that time.

Miss Morgan drew a salary of $35 a month and managed to save a good portion of her salary. She did not then hold a certificate to teach.

Mrs. Ethridge states that Mr. G.A. (George) Hughes was one of the trustees.  She thinks R. A. Mitchell and "Rile" Williams were the other members of the board.

Just prior to the organization of the Frost district Mr. Benn Palmer taught a private school in a building located where Curtis Patterson now lives.

Professor E. J. L. Wyrick was superintendent 1890-95. Assistant teachers during this time were Miss Sallie Carpenter (now Mrs. W. A. Wofford of Dallas), Miss Tommie Lacy of Corsicana, Miss Frankie Long who later married a superintendent of the school. At this time the school consisted of three large rooms. The lower floor of the Masonic hall was used for the primary department.  In writing of Professor Wyrick,  Mrs. A.L. Kelton says, I was a student under Professor Wyrick. He was the outstanding educator of my high school days. All subjects preparatory for college entrance were taught. He was thoroughness to the extreme--a natural born teacher."

During 1896-97 and 1897-98, W. T. McGee and his cousin J. S. McGee, headed the school as co-principals and Miss Lula R. Rice had charge of the primary work. She had on the roll 90 pupils ranging in age from  to 12.

In 1898-99 Berry McGee served as superintendent. Miss Hassie Cobb was primary teacher during the school year 1898-99. Mr. "Rile" Williams was one of the trustees.

The trustees during the school term of 1896-97 and 1897-98 George Utley and Mr. Henry Hyer.

In 1900 Mr. Mike Howard was were Mr. George Hughes, Mr. head of the school.

**This is exactly as it is printed in the paper....looks like there is a
line missing**

Mr. G. W. Gable served as superintendent for one year, the school year 1903-04. His brother, Oscar Gable, served as principal.

Mr. L. V. Stockard succeeded Mr. Gable. Mr. Stockard headed teh school from 1904-05 through 1907-08, a period of four years.

**There is a letter printed from Mr. Stockard who in 1938 was Assist Superintendent with the Dallas Schools.  This gives a history of the school as he remembers it. ***

Notes:

Class of 1914 lists Pork Bromby.  This is probably Thomas Park Bromley.  The Bromley name was often, I have found, spelled in various ways.  I would also suspect it might date the letter which was posted closer to 1914 or 1915 towards the beginning of World War I.
