Speed, graduated from Corsicana High School.  Entered the service in 1942, trained with Navy Submarine Crew at New London, Conn.  Served at Guam, Saipan, Hawaii, Midway and Marshall Islands.  Now in the Connecticut.  Has Submarine Pin and Gold Star for 2 missions.

Cadet Nurse Hester R. Speed, daughter of Mrs. Nellie M. Speed, attended California Schools.  Entered the service in 1944, trained at Parkland Hospital, Dallas, where she is still on duty.

SPENCER, THOMAS M.
Pfc. Thomas M. Spencer, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Spencer, Corsicana.  Attended Corsicana High School.  Entered service, 1942, training in the Army at Camp Wolters.  Served in Aleutians Islands, France, Belgium, Germany.  Now on duty in Germany.  Has Good Conduct Medal and ETO Badge.

SPURGEON, JAMES R.
Sgt. James R. Spurgeon, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Spurgeon, Rice.  Entered the Cavalry in 1941, training at Ft. Sill and Ft. Bliss.  Served in Philippines, Australia, Admiralty Islands and New Guinea.  Killed in action on Leyte, Nov 12, 1944.
