Pvt. Earl R. Spurgeon, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Spurgeon of Rice, entered the Army in April, 1945.  Now training at Camp Hood Texas.
 
STAGGS, DONALD E.
S 2/C Donald E. Staggs, son of Mrs W. U. Brown, attended Corsicana Schools.  Entered the Navy in 1945, trained at San Diego and Schumaker, Calif.  Now on duty in the Pacific.  Wears Theater Ribbon.
 
STAGGS, AUBREY D.
Pvt. Aubrey D. Staggs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry M. Staggs, attended Blooming Grove Schools.  Entered the Army Anit-Aircraft in 1944, trained at Ft. Bliss, Ft. Ord and Washington.  Served on Oahu, Hawaii.  Wears Theater Ribbon.
 
STAGGS, R. C.
GM 3/C R. C. Staggs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry M. Staggs, graduated from Blooming Grove Schools.  Entered the Navy in 1941, trained at San Diego, Miami, Fla., New York and Washington.  Served in France, Hawaiian Islands and Okinawa.  Now in S. Pacific.  Wears Theater Ribbon.

Pvt. Noel J. Staley, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Staley, graduated from Emhouse High School.  Entered the Army in 1942, trained at Camp Wallace, Texas.  Served in New Guinea and now on the Philippines.  Wears Theater Ribbon.
STALLINGS, JAMES R.
S 2/C James R. Stallings, son of Henry Stallings and Mrs. Laura Davis, attended Corsicana Schools.  Entered the service in 1943, trained with Navy Submarine Crew at Great Lakes and Camp Perry.  Served in Africa and Morocco.  Wounded in 1944 at Africa.  Was drowned April, 1945.

STALLINGS, WILLIE B.
Pvt. Willie B. Stallings, son of Mr. Henry Stallings and Mrs. Laura Davis, attended Corsicana High School.  Entered the service in 1941, trained with Armored Division of Paratroopers Infantry at Camp Hood, Camp Swift, Ft. Knox and Ft. Benning.  Served in France, Australia and is now in Germany.  Has Theater Ribbon, Infantry Badge and Bronze Star.
STALTER, JOSEPH R.
SC 1/C Joseph R. Stalter, son of Mr. H. B. Stalter, husband of the former Miss Oma Pearl Sharp, attended Athens Schools.  Entered the service in 1942, trained with Navy Reserves at San Diego.  Now on duty aboard USS Oracle.  Wears Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon, 4 Stars, Philippine Liberation Bar with 2 Stars, Okinawa Bar with 1 Star.  Wounded in 1944 in Marshall Islands.
STANDARD, JAMES O.
Cpl James O. Standard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Standard, husband of the former Miss Katherine Marie Hawkins, attended Mildred High School. Entered the service in 1943, trained with Army Field Artillery at Camp Barkley. Served in England, France, Germany, Czechoslovakia, and Belgium. Wears Theater Ribbons.

S/Sgt. Hassel C. Stark, son of Mrs. O. G. Sutton, husband of the former Miss Johnnie Grace Southall, attended Royce City Schools. Entered the Air Corps in 1942, trained at Mineral Wells, Shreveport, Ft. Myers and Lakeland, Fla. Servedin Sicily, Italy, Holy Lands and Middle East. Was wounded in Europe. Holds Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Now stationed in New Mexico.

Pfc. Alford K. Starks, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Starks.  Wife, the former Margaret Sue Pope.  Attended Oak Valley Schools.  Entered service, 1944, training with the Army at Camp Wolters.  Served in Hawaii, Marianas and Oklnawa where he is now on duty.  Has Combat Inf. Badge.
 
STARKS, VIRGIL V.
Sgt. Virgil V. Starks, grandson of Mrs. Ona Bell, Corsicana.  Wife, the former Dorothy Maxwell.  Graduated from Corbet School.  Entered the Air Corps in 1941, training at Sheppard Field and Santa Monica, Calif.  Has Good Conduct Ribbon.  Now on duty at Albuquerque, N. Mex.

Sgt. Billy W. Starns, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Starnes.  Wife, the former Mary Nell Denn.  Attended Corsicana High School.  Entered service, 1936, training with the Cavalry at Ft. Bliss, Texas.  Served in Hawaii, Guam, Russell Island and Guadalcanal.  Wounded on Guam, 1944.  Now on duty at Brooke General Hospital.  Received Purple Heart.
 
STEELE, JAMES R.
Pvt. James R. Steele, wife, the former Velma Mae Howard, Corsicana.  Attended Corsicana High School.  Entered service, 1945.  Trained with the Army at Camp Wolters where he is now on duty.
 
STEELMAN, HERSHAL
Pvt. Hershal Steelman, son of Mrs W. H. Steelman, Richland.  Attended school at Richland.  Entered the Army in 1945 and is now in training.
 
STEEN, COSBY E.
A/C Cosby E. Steen, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Steen, Corsicana.  Graduated from Corsicana High School.  Entered the Army Air Corps in 1943.  Trained at Buckley Field, Kansas, State Teachers College and San Antonio Aviation Cadet Center.  Is now on duty at Amarillo Army Air Field.

F/O Garner E. Stegall, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Stegall, Corsicana.  Wife, the former Faye C. Carr.  Attended Canton High School.  Entered service, 1940, training with the Air Corps at Kelley Field.  Now on duty at Maxwell field.
