Cpl. John D. Fields, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Fields, husband of the former Miss Fay Garvin, graduated from Frost High School. Entered the Army in 1940, trained with 133rd Field Artillery at Camp Bowie, Blanding and Edwards. Killed in action in 1943 at Salerno.

July 1942. Entered as a Petty Officer and received training

and Hawaii. Given medical discharge Feb., 1945 at Navy
Hospital, Yosemite, Calif. |

Town Gap and Camp Beal. Now on duty in Hawaii awaiting
shipment to S. Pacific. |

Served overseas 35 months, a member of Famous Fighting 1st Div.,
First Army. Engaged in N. Africa, ETO Campaigns
(Eight). Awarded Bronze Star with an Oak Leaf Cluster,
Presidential Citation with two Oak Clusters, Combat Inf. Badge,
Silver Star for Capture of 24 Germans under most difficult
conditions, discharged July, 1945.
