Cpl. Samuel R. Sloan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Sloan, attended Corsicana High School.  Entered service, 1942, trained with Army at Atlantic City, Orlando, Fla., Camp Crowder.  Has served in England, France, Belgium and now on duty in Germany.  Has Bronze Star and 5 Battle Stars.
 
SLOAN, PIERCE H.
F 1/C Pierce H. Sloan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Sloan, husband of the former Miss Isabelle Acosta, attended Corsicana Schools.  Entered service, 1944, trained at San Francisco, with Navy.  Has served in Guam, Sough Pacific, now on duty in Central Pacific.
SLOAN, THOMAS O.
S 2/C Thomas O. Sloan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Sloan, attended Corsicana Schools.  Entered service, 1945, trained with Coast Guard at Curtis Bay and Atlantic City, New Jersey.
SLONE, JOHNNIE B.
S/Sgt. Johnnie B. Slone, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Sloan, formerly of Corbet, husband of the Former Miss Anna Lee Riggs, graduate of Corsicana High School.  Entered service, 1942, trained with Army at Camp Adair, White, Beale, and San Luis Obispa.  Has served in Philippines and Okinawa.  Has Expert Infantry Badge.
SLOVER, GEORGE W.
T/Sgt. George W. Slover, son of Mrs. W. J. Slover, Lubbock, husband of the former Miss Dorothy Jenkins, Corsicana.  Entered Army March, 1941, trained a Ft. Sill, Okla., San Luis Obispa and ft. Ord, Calif.  Has served in Alaska, Attu, Hawaii, Kwajalein, Leyte, Saipan, now on duty on Okinawa.  Has letter of commendation for outstanding work during battle of Kwajalein.

SMALLING, JACK W.
S/Sgt. Jack W. Smalling, son of Mrs. Bessie Smalling, attended Corsicana schools and A&M College.  Entered service, 194?, trained with Air Corps at San Antonio, Ellington Field, Midland.  Has served in South Pacific, missing in action on Tajian Island, 1945, now on duty at Dutch Indies.  Has Air Medal.

SMITH, JAMES M.
S/Sgt. James M. Smith, son-in-law of Mrs. J. W. Terry, Corsicana.  Entered Army in 1943, trained at Ft. Benning, Harlingen.  Has served on Honolulu, Guadalcanal, Admiralty Islands, New Guinea, Marti, and Samar in the Philippines, returned to states April, 1945.  Has 48 missions as aerial gunner aboard a B-24 Liberator.  D.F.C., Air Medal, 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, Philippines Liberation with 2 Battle Stars, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with 4 Battle Stars and American Defense Ribbon.

Pfc. Marvin M. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Smith, Wortham, husband of the former Mildred Frost, graduate of Curris High School.  Entered service, 1944, trained with Army Infantry at Camp Wolters.  Has served in France and Germany, now on duty in France.  Has Combat Infantryman Badge, 2 Battle Stars, E.T.O. Ribbon and Good Conduct Ribbon.

S 1/C H. R. Smith, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Smith, husband of the former Miss Gussie Jarrett, attended Irene Schools.  Entered service, 1944, trained with Navy at Camp Perry, Va.  Now on duty in Mediterranean.
SMITH, EDGAR E.
S 1/C Edgar E. Smith, son of Mattie Smith, graduate of Blooming Grove.  Entered service, 1944, trained with Navy at San Francisco, Cal.  Has served in Pearl Harbor and Hawaii, now on duty in South Pacific.

GM 2/C Malcom Smith, Sr., son of Mr. H. D. Smith, Navarro.  Entered service in 1942, trained with the Navy at Williamsburg, Va., Endicott, Rhode Island, and Lido Beach, New York.  Served in Hawaii and Guam.  Now on duty in the Marianas.

Smith, Blooming Grove.  Wife, the former Odessa Hollingsworth.  Entered the Army Air Corps in 1942, training at Sheppard Field, Camp Luna, Las Vegas, N.M., Embry Riddle School of Aviation, Fla., Curtiss Wright School, N.Y.  Is now on duty at American Air Field, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, as aerial engineer with a base unit.

Sgt. James W. Smith, son of Sgt. and Mrs. Roger Deskin, Kerens.  Wife, the former Annie Mae Richie.  Entered the Air Corps Sept 20, 1942, training at Waco Army Air Field.  Now on duty at Maedill Field, Tampa Fla.  Attended Kerens High School.

Pvt. Currie H. Smith, son of Mrs. Maude Smith, Kerens, wife, the former Ila Mae Mix.  Attended Kerens High School.  Entered the Army 1942, training at Camp Barkley, Abilene, Texas.  Discharged May 9, 1942.
 
SMITH, CECIL R.
ST 1/C Cecil R. Smith, son of Mrs. Maude Smith, Kerens.  Attended Kerens High School.  Entered the Navy, 1942, training at Camp Elliott, R.I.  Served in Africa.  Now on duty on Guam.
 
SMITH, DAN M.
Cpl. Dan M. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Smith.  Wife, the former Irma V. Derden.  Graduate of Emhouse Schools.  Entered the service, 1942, training with the Air Corps at Sheppard Field, Kearns Field, Utah and Salt Lake City.  Now on duty in Philippines.
 
SMITH, EARNEST E.
Pfc. Earnest E. Smith, son of Mrs. Oless Smith.  Attended State Home School.  Entered the Army, 1942, training at Wyoming and La.  Served in England, France, Germany and is now on duty in Austria.  Wounded in Germany, 1945.  Has Purple Heart, Inf.  Badge and 3 Battle Stars.
 
SMITH, RANDOLPH F.
GM 2/C Randolph F. Smith, son of Walter A. Smith, formerly of Kerens, wife the former Constance Thiede.  Attended Kerens Gr. School and Gonzales High School.  Entered the Navy Sept. 1942, training at Corpus Christi, Kingsville, Norfolk, Va.  Served in N. Atlantic.  Now aboard baby flattop carrier in Atlantic.
