He was the son of James
Campbell & Sandy Epsie "Sarah" (Coats) Osborne, Grandson of Ephraim
Brevard MD & Nancy (Smith) Osborne. On July 18, 1877 at
Springhill, Navarro Co., TX, he married Nancy
Elizabeth Smith, the daughter of George Washington
Smith, Sr. & Martha Ann (Butler) Smith. Nancy was born on 5 November 1859
in Hempstead Co., AR. They had seven children, listed below. Ephraim
died on 30 November 1932 at Emmett, Navarro Co., TX and Nancy died on 15 March 1936
at Emmett, Navarro Co., TX. They are both buried at the Prairie
Grove Cemetery at Emmett.

OBITUARIES
AGED RESIDENT OF EMMETT COMMUNITY BURIED WEDNESDAY
EMMETT, Dec 2. (Spl) - Ephriam B. Osborne, aged 73 years, 10 months and 3 days,
died at his home in the Emmett community in west Navarro county at 1:45 a.m.
Wednesday, Nov 30.
He was born in Bradley county, Arkansas on Jan. 27, 1859, and came to Texas with
his parents in 1868, settling at that time in Hill county. In 1869 he moved to
Navarro county where he had lived prior to his death.
He was married to Miss Nancy Smith on July 17, 1877, and to this union were born
seven children, Two having preceded him in death.
He was converted and joined the Prairie Grove Baptist church in the year '79 and
was a deacon of that church at the time of his death.
The high esteem by which Uncle Eph, as he was better known, was held was
manifested by the great throng of mourners attending the funeral. Burial
was made in the Emmett cemetery Wednesday afternoon at 2:30.
Those who survive him other than his wife are: three sons, A. L. Osborne,
Cleburne; Melvin Osborne, Corsicana; P. G. Osborne, Coolidge; two daughters,
Mrs. W. H. Bowen and Mrs. George Ballew, both of Emmett; one brother, Frank
Osborne, Emmett; three sisters, Mrs. John Bruton, Mrs. Mildred Bruton, Malone,
and Mrs. Martin Lindsey, Mexia.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, E. B., H. C. and Lee Ballew, Clyde Osborne,
Charlie Bowen and Mark Osborne.
W. W. Wolfe, Dawson undertaker, directed the funeral.

children. Pallbears were six grandsons, Lee Ballew, E. B.
Ballew, Harvey Ballew, Charlie Bowen, Clyde and Mark Osborne. Therefore
be ti resloved that the wife and children have lost a kind and
affectionate husband and father and that the church has lost a
faithful member and useful deacon. Therefore be it
resolved that a copy of this be spread on church records, a copy be
sent ot teh Baptist Progress and a copy be sent to the bereaved

MRS. NANCY OSBORNE DIED EARLY MONDAY AT EMMETT HOME
Mrs. Nancy Osborne, aged 76 years, wife of the late E. B. Osborne, pioneer
resident of Emmett community, died at the family home at Emmett Monday
morning at 2:15 o'clock. The funeral rites were conducted Monday afternoon at 2
o'clock with burial in the
Emmett cemetery.
Mrs. Osborne had resided in the Emmett community for more than 50 years. She had
been a member of the Baptist church practically all of her life.
Surviving arc three sons, Albert Osborne, Cleburne; P. G. Osborne. Coolidge, and
M. F. Osborne, Corsicana; two daughters, Mrs. George Ballew and Mrs.
Will Bowen, both of Emmett; a sister, Mrs. Ida Boydston, Electra; a brother,
Jess Smith, West, Texas; and a number of grand-children and other relatives.
