Henry was the third child and second son of Joe and Fanny Stubbs of Birmingham, AL. Henry came to Texas with the family and as his brother, he met and married a Texas gal. Miss Alice Green and Mr. Henry Stubbs were married on 30 Jun 1905 in Navarro Co. They had three children who are listed on the 1920 Navarro County US Census and this census it also tells that Henry was a grocery clerk.

Henry and Alice are buried in the “old part” of the Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery southwest of Corsicana next to his stepmother, Mrs. M. M. Stubbs. Henry died 18 Jun 1960 and Alice died 1 May 1977, both in Navarro Co. TX. Henry has a common grave marker with Alice plus an ornate bronze marker placed as a foot marker. His son, Claude, made this bronze marker.

We wish we had more history on Henry but the source of our stories pasted away before we could get to them. We are however very grateful for the information we do have.

The family genealogy of Henry and Alice comes from their daughter, Dera and her daughter-in-law Mary Helen Price.

John Henry and Alice had 3 children:

1) Dera Lee Stubbs, born 14 Jul 1907 in Navarro Co, married 05 Feb 1927 in Navarro Co. to Enos Carl Price, she moved to Henderson Co. TX and raised a family. They had two children:

            Dorothy Price.

            David Price, born 25 Mar 1929, Roane, Navarro Co TX. He married 22 Dec 1951 in Athens, Henderson Co TX to Mary Helen Jarrard. Mary Helen was born 12 Aug 1934 in Long Lake, Anderson Co TX.

They had two children:

            Gale LaVerne Price, born 12 Dec 1952 in Athens, Henderson Co TX. She has two children: 1. Candice Sha, born 26 Jul 1982 in Dallas, TX and 2. Calais Scanta, born 07 Jul 1985 in Athens, Henderson Co TX. Gale married 19 Aug 1989 in Henderson Co. to Fred V Canady. Fred was born 9 Jan 1953 in Rapid City, Pennington Co SD.

            David Britt Price, born 19 Dec 1954 in Athens, Henderson Co TX to Brenda Kay Gunnels. Brenda was born in Texas on 24 Aug 1955. They had two children: 1. David Scott Price, born 15 Mar 1982 in Navarro Co TX and 2. Casey Brandon Price, born 21 May 1985 in Navarro Co TX.

2) Eva Mae Stubbs, born 04 May 1914 in Navarro Co, married 30 Sep 1928 in Navarro Co. to E. Leon Meeken.

3) Henry Claude Stubbs, born 11 Oct 1911 in Navarro Co, married 02 Sep 1933 in Navarro Co. to Bonnie Mae McCoy. Claude and Bonnie adopted Janie Crab. Claude worked for Bethlehem Steel in Corsicana for many years. He then worked with Buddy Starks in their own aluminum foundry that was located on Navarro Drive in Corsicana. (Obituary)
