Dorothy Belle (Watson) Honea
Apr 9, 1926 - Feb 1, 2012

Corsicana - Mrs. Dorothy Watson Honea went to be in the presence of her loving Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012. Our Lord looked down on her pain and said, "Come unto me all ye who labor and hurt and I will give you rest for your soul, and rest for your spirit." He sent his angels to escort her to the portals of heaven.

Dorothy was a true and faithful servant to her Lord. As a long-time member of First Baptist Church, she was a blessing to many as she went about serving her Lord in various ways. For many years, she taught 5-6 year olds in her Sunday school class and had numerous stories about the precious acts of the children she loved so much.

As she ministered to those in need on various mission trips with her church, she developed a love of travel. In later years, she especially loved traveling and performing with the Solid Rockers Choir. Another of her favorite activities was visiting local nursing homes, ministering to the residents, and painting hundreds of ladies fingernails over the years. She gave of herself to her family, her church family, and many others until her health began to fail.

She was born in Emhouse, Texas on April 9, 1926 to Oliver and Birdie Watson, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her five sisters, Dovie Powell, Louise Jones, Claudia Murphy, Jean McKnight and Tincie Mach; and two brothers, Arthur Watson and Herman Watson.

She was a loving and caring wife to Bill Honea for 66 years; all the while, encouraging and praying for his ministry, and looking for ways to serve God. When times were tough, she was there, praying and seeking God's presence.

Dorothy loved her family and was a beautiful mother to her children, Larry Honea and Kathy Honea McFerrin. She was a wonderful Mamaw to her grandchildren, Kyle Honea, Jason Thomas, Scott Honea and Andrew Boales; and the beloved great-grandmother to Peyton Thomas, Sierra Thomas, Sadie Thomas, Dylan Honea and Dominic Honea. She is also survived by a brother, Woodrow Watson of Mertens and sister, Gladys Bishop of Bellmead.

Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 at Corley Funeral Home.

Clellia Mae “Clay” (Hilliard) Callicutt
Apr 7, 1910 – Mar 19, 2011

Clellia Mae "Clay" Callicutt, 100, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011, at her residence in Corsicana.

She was born April 7, 1910, in Hillsboro to Woodard L. and Grace Johnson Hilliard. Clay was reared in Taft where she enjoyed "playing school" and riding horseback through the countryside. Upon graduation from Taft High School at 17-years-of-age Clay enrolled at the University of Texas in Austin where she resided in the Scottish Rite Dormitory and pledged Kappa Delta Sorority. In 1931 she graduated from the university earning a Bachelor of Art degree in Secondary Education with a major in Spanish and a minor in French. Returning to Taft and finding teaching positions in short demand, Clay secured employment with the State Welfare and Relief Department. As a case worker, she traveled and monitored four towns in San Patricio County.

In 1935, she met John Spencer Callicutt Jr., and following an extended courtship, they were married in San Diego, Texas, on April 15, 1937. While living in South Texas, John and Clay began their family with the births of two sons, John and Jack. By 1943, she had obtained a teaching position in Freer. Clay taught in the public schools there for three years. To be with family, John, Clay, and the boys, relocated to Corsicana in 1946 and took residence in the "Callicutt Home" on W. Fourth Ave.

That year, she accepted a fifth grade teaching position at Sam Houston Elementary. She taught there for the next 17 years. With this assignment, Clay began a distinguished teaching career which included graduate studies culminating into a master's degree from The University of Texas in Austin, extended studies through a Math and Science Scholarship at Beloit College in Beloit, Wis., and advancement into Collins Middle School as a Math and Spanish specialist. Clay continued to teach at Collins Middle School until her retirement in 1975. She ended her career with 33 years of service in the teaching profession and 30 years of that were in service of students in Navarro County.

Clay was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Corsicana. Wishing to stay active and involved in the community, she chose to continue as a substitute teacher for an additional 18 years in Corsicana ISD. Among her treasure joys are personal invitations to the "High School Class Reunions" where she had an opportunity to visit with former students and hear of their successes. In addition, she enjoyed scanning her scrapbooks to revisit earlier travels to the Far East, Europe, and North and South America. She delighted in the correspondence of friends, whom she met on her excursions, and the sharing of those adventures with her family.

Her most treasured times, however, were spent visiting with her extended family given to her by her two sons.

Clay was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John S. Callicutt Jr.; and her son, John S. Callicutt III.

Survivors include a son, Jack Hilliard Callicutt and his wife Sandra; a daughter-in- law, Margaret Ruth Callicutt; grandson, Johnathan Dean Callicutt and his wife Lisa; three granddaughters, Cylynne Callicutt, Paula Niece and her husband Stan, and Traci Estes and her husband Jay; five great grandsons, Clayton Callicutt, Joseph Niece, Jacob Niece, Jonathan Niece, and Jack Estes; and two great-granddaughters, Hayley Callicutt and Paige Estes.

ACCIDENTALLY KILLED
Charles Langston Shoots Himself Near Blooming Grove.
A distressing accident occurred about two miles from Blooming Grove late yesterday afternoon in which Charles Langston, an industrious young farmer, lost his life by the accidental discharge of his shot gun. About 6:30 o'clock the wife and children of the deceased got ready to go to the home of her parents to spend the night, only a mile or so away, and Mr. Langston was to follow soon, telling his wife that he wanted to watch his potato patch a while to kill rabbits that were depredating there between sun-down and dark. The wife and children arrived at their destination and waited until about 9 o'clock for the husband and father to come, and he failing to arrive some one was sent back to see what was the cause of his delay. When the Langston home was reached the unfortunate man was found dead at the steps of the back door, with the back part of his head torn off and the shot gun, with one chamber empty, laying near by. It is supposed that as the deceased passed out through, the door the gun was accidentally discharged, with the result related. The deceased was thirty years old, was a son of J. O. Langston, a well known citizen of Blooming Grove, and leaves a wife and three children. The remains were interred in the Blooming Grove cemetery late this afternoon.

Wallace “Sneed” Bosley
July 4, 1925 – Jan 27, 2012

Wallace (Sneed) Bosley, of Fairfield, was welcomed into heaven by his Lord and Savior on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, following a stroke on Jan. 1, 2012.

He leaves a legacy of love and Faith, to all who knew him.

Sneed was born on July 4, 1925, in the community of Mount Nebo on Pisgah Ridge. He lived in the Freestone/Limestone counties for 46 years.

Sneed proudly honored his country during World War II, serving as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy. His life-long labors are a testament to the hard working man that he was. He was quite an entrepreneur, and his history speaks for itself. Sneed worked as a machinist for Gulf Oil around the great state of Texas; his journey took him to the Houston area where he owned a painting company, a dry cleaning company, and was active in the real estate market, restoring and selling homes. Upon returning to the Wortham and Kirvin areas, he worked for the Mexia State School. In addition to raising cattle, Sneed purchased and operated a grocery store in Kirvin, and gathered all the knowledge needed to soon form the Northside Plumbing/Grocery and North Construction Service.

Sneed's love of the land and animals was evident. Raising cattle, goats, and donkeys was a pastime that Sneed treasured. Some of his greatest times were spent with the animals he nurtured and loved. Another one of his pastimes was auctioneering. He loved antiques and received his license, becoming an auctioneer. He held auctions in Limestone and Freestone counties.

Sneed lived, and believed by his favorite sayings, “God has a purpose for all of us”, and “God doesn’t need any help, and he sure doesn’t make mistakes.”

In recent years, Sneed's passion was God's calling for him, allowing the Lord to work through him. Living Way Ministries was a vision that Sneed felt strongly about, founding a small church, led by a precious man of God, Pastor Alwyn Gibson. A long time coming, the church will be ready for service in the coming months. Few things can comfort those who mourn Sneed Bosley. But, knowing he is watching over Pastor Gibson and the growth of this ministry, is a comfort to say the least. Nothing would honor the memory of this husband, father, and friend, more than the success of this house of the Lord. The fellowship that follows in years to come, will be a tribute to his legacy.

Sneed Bosley's family held a private memorial ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012.

He loved the Lord, his family, and his friends. He will be missed beyond words.

If you would like to make a donation in Mr. Bosley's name, please send to Living Way Ministries at 915 Bateman, Fairfield, TX 75840
