JACK SMITH GRIFFIN
GRIFFIN, JACK SMITH
Col. Jack Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Griffin, Sr. of Blooming Grove. Graduate of Blooming Grove High School. Joined the U.S. Air Force. Spent overseas time in England. was shot down, but not seriously wounded. Chose to stay in Air Force at close of the war. Later killed in plane crash near Denver, Colorado on September 10, 1947. KILLED IN ACTION

Capt James Richard Griffin, Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs J.R. Griffin, Sr. of Blooming Grove. Graduate of Blooming Grove High School. Joined the U.S. Air Force in peace-time and was stationed in Pearl Harbor when Japan bombed it. Lost in action from Port Moresley in New Guinea March 26, 1943. KILLED IN ACTION

Capt. John W. Griffin, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Griffin of Hooks, Texas.  Graduate of Texas A. & M.  Husband to Tommie Griffin.  Entered service March 22, 1943, training at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, Ft. Benning, Georgia.  Served at Camp Shelby, Miss.  Went overseas with t he 65th Infantry Div. with 9th Infantry Div.  Served as Battalion Executive Officer in Germany.  Honorably discharged in August 1946.
MAVIS GRIFFIN
1st Lt. Mavis Griffin, daughter of Mr and Mrs. J.R. Griffin, Sr. of Blooming Grove. Graduate of Blooming Grove High School. Attended University of Michigan and Jefferson Davis Hospital School of Nursing at Houston. Entered the Army November 9, 1942. Served in Australia, New Guinea, the Philippines in field hospitals. Awarded Bronze Star.

ROBERT E. GRIMSTEAD
Robert E. Grimstead, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Grimstead.  Attended Blooming Grove School, entering the U.S. Army in 1940.  Served as Special Service Engineer-Carpenter-Builder.  Stationed in Iran and the European area.  Honorably discharged in 1942.
ANTHONY L. GRIZZAFFI
Capt. Anthonly L. Grizzaffi, son of Leo Luca and Julia Grizzaffi of Chicago.  Husband of the former Jo Beatrice Smith of Hillsboro.  Graduate of Univ. of Illinois and  Chicago Medical School.  Entered service in 1942, training at Carlisle Barracks, Penn., Camp Swift, Austin.  Served at new Guinea with the 62nd Sta. Hospital which merged with the 63rd Sta. Hospital to form the 249th Gen. Hospital in the Philippines.  Received the South Pacific Medal with 1 Bronze Star and Philippine Liberation Medal.  Discharged in October 1945. Served in the surgical service in both hospitals.

JOSE GUERRERO
Pvt. Jose Guerrero, 90th Division, Infantry, was wounded in action in France.  Entered the service March 12, 1942.  Son of Mr. and Mrs. Petra S. Guerrero of Corsicana.  Married to Enriqueta C. Guerrero. Awarded the Purple Heart.
JEROME GUY
Cpl. Jerome Guy, son of Mr. Robert Guy of Corsicana.  Entered service February 16, 1942.  Attended school at the Drane School, Corsicana. Served in the South Pacific.
BUEL LEE HAGLE
Pfc. Buel Lee Hagle, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Floyd Hagle, Husband of the former Barbara Jergens, Graduate of Dawson High School and attended business college. Entered service January 22, 1943, serving overseas in Europe and the Pacific. Awarded the Good Conduct Medal and 2 Battle Stars.

JESSE S. HAGLER
S/Sgt. Jesse S. Hagler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Hagler.  Attended Mildred High School.  Was a member of the 36th Div. National Guard Unit mobilized in 1940, training at Camp Bowie and Camp Blanding, Florida.  Served with the 36th Div. in North Africa, Southern Italy, Southern France, and Germany.  Discharged in July 1945.

Lt. Joshua L. Halbert, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Halbert, Sr. of Corsicana.  Husband of the former Martha Beresford.  Graduate of Corsicana High School, Virginia Military Institute.  Entered service June 1943.  Served in India and China, after training at Ft. Monmouth, N.J. and Camp Crowder, Missouri.  Received Commendation Ribbon, Medal from government of China.

S/Sgt. Sam Hale, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Hale of Kerens. Served 22 months in the European Theater  with the 419th Engineers and participated in four major battles.
DAVE HALL, JR.
Cpl. Dave Hall, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Hall.  Attended Blooming Grove High School.  Entered service December 31, 1942.  Served at Camp Koe, Calif. and South Carolina, and overseas.  Received Good Conduct Medal, EAME Theater Medal, Rome-Arno Medal. Discharged October 20, 195.

Entered service October 26, 1943, training with B.T.C. 10, Greensboro, N.C. Served with the 459th Ar. Sq. in Western Pacific.  Discharged December 13, 1945.
LAWRENCE ALLEN HALL
S/Sgt Lawrence A. Hall, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Hall of Corsicana.  Husband of the former Pearlie E. Lang.  Graduate of G.W. Jackson High School, Corsicana.  Entered service July 25, 1942.  Served in Virginia Mississippi, and the European Theater.  Discharged December 27, 1945.

DAN B. HAMILL
Cdmr. Dan B. Hamill, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Buchanan Hamill.  Husband of the former Gladys Eugenia Mason of Rome, New  York.  Attended Weatherford  High School, University of Texas, Baylor Medical College.  Entered service October 1942.  Sent to South Pacific. For 19 months he had duties at Brisbane, Sydney and Perth, Australia, Milne Bayin New Guinea.  Appointed to the Pautuxent Navel Experiment Sta., where he was detached in November 1946.

Sgt. Haskell Hargrove, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hargrove of Blooming Grove.  Volunteered for U.S. Army duty in 1939.  Served in Army Engineer Corps in South Pacific area for a year or more beginning in 1941.

J. W. HARMON
S/Sgt. J. W. Harmon, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Z. Harmon of Emhouse.  Attended Ennis Schools.  Husband of the former Helen Bayes.  Entered service in December 1934, training with the 7th Cavalry Orderly.  He served with Lt. Col. Swift until Swift was transferred to Gen. McArthur's staff, (from 1936 to 1943.)  Served with the 90th & 319th AAF Bomb Sqd. and was killed in a force landing of a plane in the jungles of New Guinea on May 21, 1944.
