CLARENCE GOWANS
Pfc. Clarence Gowans, son of Will and Melissa Gowans. Attended Emhouse
School. He was a trainee in a CCC Camp at Waco when he entered the U.S.
Army. Saw service in the European Theater. Wounded and,
subsequently, spend a great deal of time in hospitals. Awarded the Purple

Graduate of Allen Academy and University of Miss. Entered service July 28,
1943, training at Ft. Benning, Georgia, Camp McCain, Miss. Served with the Co. I
302nd Infantry Reg. in the American Theater, Northern France, Ardennes,
Rhineland, Central Europe. Received the Combat Infantryman's Badge,
American Theater Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, Good
Conduct Medal, Victory Medal. Honorably discharged February 8, 1946. |

Sgt. Gilbert Grantham, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Grantham of Eureka.
Married to the former Vera Henderson. Entered the U.S. Air Force December
7, 1942. Served at University Brookin, S.D., Jefferson Barracks, Missouri,
Scottfield, Ill., Laughlin Field, Del Rio, Texas. Discharged November 4,

B. W. GREEN, JR.
Cpl B.W. Green Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs B.W. Green Sr. of Frost. Graduate of
Frost High School, and attended N.T.S.T.C., Denton. Inducted in the service
Augusst 1944, training at Camp Fannin, Tyler, Texas. Joined the 6th armored
Division as replacement at Bastone, Belgium. When the European war ended he was
sent to the China-Burma area, but as the war was ending there also, he was sent
back to Europe for occupational service. Discharged November 16, 1946.

J. FORREST GREEN
Major J. Forest Green joined Army Air Corps in 1942. Graduated from pilot
school 1943 (Class 43-KO. Trained as a fighter pilot; flew all operational
fighters except P-47. Overseas 12 months in CBI Theater. Combat duty
in China with the Flying Tigers 14th Air Force Flying P-38 Lightning.
Flight instructor in fighter craft in Chico, Calif. Instructor in primary
and basic flight school at Randolph Field, Texas.

the Co. I. 82nd Airborne Div., 505 Parachute Inf. in Rhineland, Ardennes,
Normandy, Naples, Foggia, Sicily, Holland, Anzio, Africa and Salerno.
Fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Received EAME Campaign Medal with 7
Bronze Stars, 1 Bronze Arrowhead, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart,
Distinguished Unit Badge, Award of the Parachutist Badge. Discharged

aircraft carriers in the North Atlantic, Japan and the Philippines. Left
the service in June 1964, after serving 21 years. |

HENRY GREER
Sgt. Henry Greer, husband of Lue Jessie Greer, enlisted in the U.S. Army in
1943, training at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. Served 17 months in
England and France, wounded in France December 31, 1944, died from the injuries
in England. KILLED IN ACTION.Notes:
