MARVIN L. GARRETT
Marvin L. Garrett was born in Powell. Graduate of Powell High School.
Served in France and Germany as artilleryman in 725th Field Artillery of 70th
Infantry Division. After the War, served in Army of Occupation in Germany
and was for a time, Chief Photographer of the Army newspaper, Stars & Stripes,
being stationed at Paris, France and Frankfurt Germany.

with the Navy at San Diego, Calif. and Chicago, Ill. Served on a
minesweeper in the North China and the Sea of Japan. Discharged in 1946.

LEONARD D. GIESLER
1st Lt. Leonard D. Giesler entered service in 1942 as an Aviation Cadet at
Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, and earned his wings at Brooks Field, San
Antonio in February 1943. Commissioned Lt. in Air Force in February 1943, and
served at various bases in the States. Served one year in the China Theater with
the 14th Air Force returning to assignment at Randolph Field, San Antonio, and

the 7th Army Div. Received World War II Ribbon, Pacific Battle Ribbons,

Theater of Operations. Seriously wounded in Germany on December 21, 1944.
Received 3 Campaign Ribbons, 3 Battle Stars, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Ribbon
and Sharpshooter's Medal. Received a medical discharge in 1944.
