James Anderson
abt 1859 - June 27, 1909
Successfully Embalmed.
A negro man named James Anderson, apparently forty or fifty years
old and a stranger in Corsicana, died in a negro boarding house here
Sunday evening. The County had the undertaker to take charge of the
remains and if relatives the man is said to have elsewhere are not
heard from the body will be taken to the
county farm for
burial.
Harry Bird, who works for Mr. Sutherland embalmed the body Sunday
afternoon with a new embalming fluid as an experiment, and the
operation is a most successful one. The body is apparently as rigid
and hard as stone and will stand alone when placed upon its feet,
and several parties saw the dead body standing perfectly erect today
in the coffin room of Mr. Sutherland's undertaking department. The
body has now been made ready for burial and will be interred in a
day or two if supposed relatives are not heard from.
