Eddie F. "Fireball" Railey
Jul 30, 1953 - Jan 20, 2021

Eddie F. "Fireball" Railey passed away January 20, 2021, at the age of 67.

Eddie was born July 30, 1953 in Levelland, Texas to Edmond and Mary Ella Railey. Mary Ella grew up in Corsicana, so the family moved back here when Eddie was two years old. His father Edmond worked at the Chattanooga Glass Company in Corsicana for 18 years, until his death on January 20, 1970. His mother Mary Ella was a housewife and worked seasonally at Collin Street Bakery until 1969. She then worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance from 1970 until she retired in 1985. She passed away November 18, 2010.

Growing up with his younger sister Melanie, Eddie was raised in a very close-knit family. As a child he was involved in the youth baseball program at Bee Bee Field. He loved sports and wrestling, which he watched and attended whenever possible. He and his family spent many vacations on camping trips to Colorado, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Texas state parks. The family spent many hours playing board games and cooking outside. As he grew, Eddie became an avid bowler and participated in many bowling tournaments and was part of a league at the local bowling alley. He attended Corsicana schools through his graduation.

Upon graduation, Eddie went to work at the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company for several years. He decided he preferred working for himself and at his own schedule, and became self-employed as a general handyman. He mowed lawns and did odd jobs for others and was willing to tackle any job that came his way. He was always willing to help those in need, and not just with work.

Eddie grew up in the Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized at age 12. He participated in worship services, Sunday school, and youth program weekly. He always tried to set an example for others in living out his faith. He felt called to be a servant to others and was known to take people to their doctor's appointments and run errands for them if they were unable. He lived to help others. In this way, he lived out his faith.
Eddie was a simple man who enjoyed living his simple life. He was a quiet, gentle soul with a big heart and love for his family and friends. He loved spending time with his family at all holiday gatherings. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling and building model cars, which he displayed in his home. One of his best memories was being able to bowl in a Quaker State Pro-Am bowling tournament. He enjoyed attending local sporting events, especially football games. He loved going fishing, and enjoyed eating fried catfish and coconut cake.

Eddie leaves behind his sister Melanie Railey Hyder and her husband Bill of Kerens, Texas, and his nephew Blake Hyder and his wife Megan, of Keller, Texas. In order to honor his life, Eddie's family has planned a visitation from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26 at Corley Funeral Home.
