Man's Death is ruled a suicide
A Corsicana man died early Sunday morning as the result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Edgar Wharton Wilson, 61, was discovered lying in his front yard by a neighbor. Wilson informed the neighbor that he had
shot himself and so called the police, officials said.
Upon their arrival, Corsicana police found Wilson sitting upright and talking in his apartment.
He was transported to the Emergency Room of Navarro Regional Hospital where he died around 2 a.m., according to reports.
The wound was determined to be self-inflicted due to powder burns found on the man's clothing. The gun used was a .22
caliber handgun, officials said.
According to Justice of the Peace Connie Mayfield, Wilson had been troubled for some time and had been a mental
patient.
Wilson gave no statement to the police why he had shot himself and no suicide note was found.
