Carlos William Moore

Carlos William Moore

Carlos William Moore, 64, of Emmett, Texas passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2007 in Emmett.

Dr. Moore was born on February 3, 1943 in Emmett to Harvey Aldine and Doris Marie Moore. After graduating from Frost High School in 1961 he earned an associates degree from Navarro Junior College and then earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas. He then earned a master’s degree from Baylor University and a doctorate degree from Texas A&M University. Dr. Moore was currently the Edwin Streetman Professor of Marketing where he has been an instructor for 36 years at Baylor University in Waco. He had been honored as a Distinguished Professor by the Hankamer School of Business. He co-authored a textbook that is in its 13th edition.

Besides his academic achievements, Dr. Moore was co-owner of Moore Brothers Ranch which he established and operated with his brother, Kris Moore. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was known for his quiet generosity and gentle sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Aldine Moore and his grandson Benjamin Alan Moore.

Survivors include his wife Karen Stites Moore of Emmett; his children, Jeff Moore of Fort Worth, Mark Moore and his wife Mary and their children Hannah, Ethan, and Sara Beth of Chandler, Ariz.; Trey Moore and his wife Amy and their children K.K., Jaycie, and Aaron Todd of San Antonio; Robyn Moore of Carrollton, Andrew Young of Emmett and Catherine Young of Emmett; brother and sister-in-law, Kris Moore and Rita of Emmett; nieces and nephews, Charla and Troy Moore of Fort Worth, Kristi and Craig Earp of Crockett, Clark and Holly Moore of Emmett, Kera and Kevin Zuelhke of Frost, and Cheree Moore of Waco; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home with Gordon Lockett officiating. Following the services the family will receive friends in the foyer of Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Tim Stites, Doug Fuller, Matt Stroder, Robbie Mayse, Kevin Zuelhke, and Clark Moore.

Interment will be in the Frost Cemetery.

Carlos William Moore

Carlos William Moore, The Edwin W. Streetman Professor of Marketing at Baylor's Hankamer School of Business, passed away on May 27 in Emmett, Texas. He was 64.

"We will sorely miss Carlos," said Terry Maness, dean of the business school. "He was a mentor and friend to many of the faculty as well as a role model."

Moore earned an associate's degree from Navarro Junior College and his bachelor's degree from the University of Texas. He then completed a master's degree from Baylor and his doctorate from Texas A&M University.

Moore taught for 36 years at Baylor and had been honored as a Distinguished Professor by the Hankamer School of Business. He co-authored a textbook that is in its 13th edition, and for three decades, he worked with a team of other professors at the Hankamer School of Business to research and publish major findings in the area of business ethics.

Moore was co-owner of Moore Brothers Ranch, which he established and operated with his brother, Kris Moore, a professor of information systems at Baylor.

Moore was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was known for his quiet generosity and gentle sense of humor.

Carroll Bruce Kuykendall

Carroll Bruce Kuykendall, 64, of Hillsboro went to be with his Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 27, 2007, after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Mr. Glen MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow at Brandon-Bynum Cemetery.

Bruce was born on October 29, 1943 in Waxahachie, the son of Wilson and Oleta Frank Kuykendall. Bruce was raised in the Midway community and graduated from Milford High School in 1962. He then attended Hill Junior College, where he was a member of the college’s first basketball team. He was also a member of the National Guard 36th Airborne Brigade out of Clifton. Bruce married Billie Louise butler in 1969, and they made their home and raised their two daughters, Angela and Jennifer in Hillsboro. Bruce was a long-time member of Hillsboro Church of Christ. Bruce was a devoted Husband and Father and enjoyed more than anything, spending time with family and visiting with friends. He was an active supporter of area high school sports and for nearly 30 years officiated basketball with the Hill County and Waco Chapters. For 17 years, he was Director of Public Works for the City of Italy.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Billie Louise Kuykendall of Hillsboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela Boyd and husband, Tim, of Malone and Jennifer Woods and husband, Kelly, of Kingwood; two adoring grandchildren, Hunter Woods and Larissa Boyd; two brothers, Sidney Kuykendall and wife, Wanda, of Paint Rock and Wayne Kuykendall and wife, Mary Ann, of Waxahachie; sister, Patsy Kelley and husband, Jimmy, of Kerens; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

William E. (Johnny) Johnson Sr.

William E. (Johnny) Johnson Sr., resident of Blooming Grove, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2007 in Corsicana at the age of 81.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana with Jackie Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Dresden Cemetery.

Johnny was born in Xenia, Ohio on February 23, 1926 to Earl Johnson and Goldie Mae Tobin Johnson. He volunteered for the Navy serving during World War II from 1942 through December 1945. On July 21, 1945 he married Mary Joyce Moore in Corpus Christi. He worked for LTV aircraft for 31 years.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Moore Johnson of Blooming Grove; daughters, Sherry Rouw and husband Phil of Grand Prairie, Carolyn McCarty of Blooming Grove, Dolores Bess and husband Jimmy of Dresden, and Debra Carey of Overland Park, Kan.; son, William Earl Johnson Jr. and wife Carol of Red Oak.

Charles Wesley Moore

Charles Wesley Moore, resident of Blooming Grove, passed away on Saturday May 26, 2007 at his residence at the age of 75 years. He was born in Frost on June 30, 1931 to Fred J. Moore and Jewell Tallmon Moore.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Malcolm Moore.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Moore of Blooming Grove. Daughters and sons-in-law: Beverly and Howard Seely of Blooming Grove and Sherry and Mark Baggett of Corsicana. Grandchildren: Chris and Tamara Seely of Wylie, Jeremy and Brooke Seely of Waco, Nicole Seely of Blooming Grove, Josh Baggett of Corsicana, and Jessica and Luke Farmer of Corsicana. Great grandchildren: Caleb, Carissa, Kathryn, Carson, and Wesley. Brother: James Moore of Hurley New Mexico.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Griffin-Roughton Chapel in Blooming Grove. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 28, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Central Baptist Church in Blooming Grove with Rev. Darren Heil and Bro. Grady Cashion officiating. Burial will follow in the
Frost Cemetery.

Martha ‘Nancy’ (Moore) Parker

Martha ‘Nancy’ Moore Parker, 84, of Roane, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 26, 2007.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 28, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Parker was born May 27, 1922, in Roane. She attended school in Roane and Corsicana and graduated from North Texas State Teachers College, currently the University of North Texas. She taught school in Avalon and Ozona before she married. She married James Parker in Ozona on Jan. 19, 1946, after which they moved to Roane where she became a full-time homemaker. She was dedicated to her family and never ceased to love and support her husband, daughters, sons-in law, granddaughters, grandsons-in-law and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed visiting with her extended family and with her friends and neighbors in Roane and Corsicana. She was a member of Roane Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Cyril and Effie (Fortner) Moore, and two brothers, Thurman Moore and Tom Moore.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, James ‘Jim’ Parker of Roane; two daughters and sons-in law, Jamie and W. Levon Thigpen of Dallas, Judy and Norton Conner of Kerens; four granddaughters and sons-in-law, Javon and C.A. ‘Slim’ Durham of Richardson, Lana and Jayson Engel of Kerens, JaeAyne and Fred C. Andrew Lee "Monk" Steele

Andrew Lee “Monk” Steele, of Pasadena, Texas, was born on March 8, 1919, in Navarro County, and passed away in Pasadena on May 24, 2007.

Monk was a decorated World War II veteran having served with the 36th Infantry.

He was a member of South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Virginia Kirbo Steele; parents, Effie Steele and Jack Steele; brothers Dick Steele and Buck Steele; and sisters, Leona Anderson and Edna Cross.

He is survived by his sisters, Eunice P. Koontz and Edith Coleman of Pasadena; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Goodman, Bill Simpson, Phil Alexander and David Price. Pallbearers will be Michael Goodman, Brian Alexander, Todd Alexander, Chris Coleman, Jason Price, Craig Price, Kyle Reppond, Darren Cross, Colin Cross, Kevin Sheridan and Barrett Coleman.

Darin Christie

Darin Christie, 38, of China Spring passed away peacefully Monday, May 28, 2007, in Waco.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at Corley Funeral Chapel in Corsicana with the Rev. Clayton Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery in Corsicana. Pallbearers will be Dave Robertstad, Gary Scow, Grant Robertstad, Jason Wren, Landon Wren and Derwood Penney.

Darin was born on Aug. 21, 1968, in Corsicana to parents Elton and Barbara Christie and lived in the Retreat area. He moved to Waco as a young child and attended China Spring schools until graduating in 1986. After completing high school, he attended both McLennan Community College and Baylor University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology in 1992.

He worked in a custom framing shop while attending school and later became the manager of the business after graduation. Darin enjoyed most outdoor activities, especially hunting and fishing. He was avid lover of music and taught himself how to play the guitar at an early age. Being a lifetime resident of Texas and a passionate sports fan, he would always follow his favorite local sports teams. Darin was very skillful with his hands and his craftsmanship with tools was remarkable. He could always be counted on to assist with a household project whenever it became too overwhelming.

He is survived by his parents, Elton and Barbara Christie of China Spring; brother and sister-in-law, Grady and Karen Christie of Waco; grandmother, Geneva Penney of Corsicana; aunts, Bettie Evans of Corsicana and Auralia Wren of Decatur; numerous cousins and a multitude of friends. The family wishes to express deep appreciation and gratitude to the physicians and staff of Providence Health Center in Waco.

Darin was truly a unique person who was funny, brilliant and caring. While his life was too short, the fond memories that he has left will be everlasting.

Alvah Cook Buried at Hamilton Cemetery
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. At Corley Funeral Chapel in Corsicana for Alvah (Pop) Cook, 81, Dawson farmer, who died Thursday. The Rev. David Hale officiated. Burial was in the Hamilton Cemetery.
A longtime resident of Retreat before moving to Dawson, Cook was named the 1971 “Sportsman of the year” by the Navarro County Fox and Wolf hunters Association of which he was a charter member and past officer. He had been an adult leader of 4-H Club work in the county 40 years.
Surviving are his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Ellis Montgomery of Dawson; five sons; 12 grandchildren, one sister and four brothers.

John Lee McCulloch, Jr.

John L. McCulloch Buried Saturday
Funeral services for John L. McCulloch were held Saturday morning at 10:30 in Lover’s Lane Methodist church in Dallas and were conducted by Rev. Dan Snipp
Graveside services were held on Saturday at 1:00 P. M. and burial was in Dawson cemetery.
McCulloch drowned in Lake Tawakoni in Thursday of last week while on a fishing trip.
He was a graduate of Dawson High School and attended SMU in Dallas. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife and children, John L. McCulloch III and Becky, of Dallas, a sister, Mrs. R. M. Holliday of Houston, father Lee McCulloch of Dawson and other relatives.
Employees of the Cameron Company were pallbearers.

John McCulloch Rites Saturday

Funeral services for John Lee McCulloch, Jr., 44, Dallas, lumber company executive, who was drowned in Lake Tawakoni, near Quinlan, late Monday, along with a friend, Charles Black, 30, of Austin, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the Lover’s Lane Methodist church, 5002 Lover’s Lane, Dallas. Burial will be in the
Dawson cemetery Saturday at 1 p.m.

Rev. Thomas J. Shipp will officiate.

McCulloch, reared in Dawson and veteran of
World War II, was a member of the Lover’s Lane church.

A squall on the northeast Texas lake is believed to have upset the boat in which the two men were riding or fishing. Black’s body was recovered Wednesday afternoon and that of McCulloch Thursday morning, the boat is reported to have been sunk.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Toni McCulloch, 6318 Bandera, Dallas; a son, Johnny McCulloch, and a daughter, Becky McCulloch, all of Dallas; parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Lee McCulloch, Dawson; a sister, Mrs. Raymond Holliday, Houston; two step-sons, Dennis and Sonnie Hill, both of Dallas, and other relatives.

Mrs. Gill was born in Rural Shade on Dec. 10, 1927.

Mrs. Davis was born Jan. 14, 1946 in Marshall.

Mr. Baldauf was born July 23, 1915 in Corsicana.  He was a crane operator.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Baldauf, and a daughter, Helen Baldauf Puryear.

Edward Leroy "Roy" Carroll, 94, a longtime resident of Blooming Grove, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 1999, at Wilson N. Jones Memorial Hospital in Sherman.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. today at Rose Hill Cemetery in Blooming Grove, with Dr. Jimmy Finley officiating.

Pallbearers will be Dan Kallus, Philip Crosby, Dr. Jimmy Doyle Carroll, Dr. Ray Dean Carroll, Rudy Carroll, John Davis, Jim Davis, Ben Pickle and Shane Davis.

Mr. Carroll was born Oct. 4, 1904 to Edward Levosta Carroll and Mozelle Hicks McGlohen.  He was among the third generation of Carrolls born in Texas.  He and his family were early members of the Christian Church in Blooming Grove.

Mr. Carroll began his education in Blooming Grove, received his undergraduate degree from East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce and his master's degree from University of Texas.  His love of arts included directing and producing plays with the theatrical department during his tenure at Huntsville High School.  He later taught at Wentworth Military Academy in Missouri and at Midland ISD.

His love of travel led him in many excursions to Central America, Europe and the Middle East, where he would visit galleries, museums and ancient ruins.

Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ethel Carroll Davis; brother, James William Carroll and Harry Carroll; and nephews, W.E. "Sam" Carroll and John Benton Davis Jr.

He is survived by his stepbrother, Ralph Gardner; niece, Frances Carroll Holdeman; nephews, Dr. Jimmy Doyle Carroll, Dr. Ray Dean Carroll and Rudy Carroll; and a multitude of great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Mr. Armstrong was born May 4, 1910 on the family farm in Cryer Creek and lived there all his life until the last six months.  He was a Mason for over 50 years.  He served in many capacities in the United Methodist Churches of Emhouse, Blooming Grove and First United Methodist Church of Corsicana.  He was a founding director of the Associated Milk Producers and served on that board for 25 years.

Mr. Armstrong is survived by his wife of 66 years, Olive; son, Bobby Armstrong of Emhouse; daughter, Joyce Pike of Arlington; five grandchildren, Becky and Gary Armstrong, Gina Gorell, Keith Pike and Brenda Stephens; and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. McKenna was born March 3, 1927.  She was a homemaker.  She loved to fish and play bingo.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dawson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.F. "Bob" McKenna in October 1985; and sister, Docia Whitehill in November 2001.

Mrs. Evans was born Aug. 29, 1914 in Dawson.  She was a sweet, gentle woman and a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She had lived in the Dawson area most of her 84 years and retired in 1976 from Mexia State School.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Dawson.

Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Paul Evans.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and L.C. Chambers; grandchildren, Penni Todd and husband Dale, and Denny Paul Chambers; and great-granddaughter, Delaney Todd, all of Duncanville; sister and brother-in-law, Callie and Clyde Roloff; sisters, Ruby Lawrence and Charlsie Jordan, all of Dawson; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mable Lee Moore Smith, 92, of Dawson passed away Saturday, July 10, 1999, in Corsicana.

Graveside services were 10 a.m. today at Dawson Cemetery, with Elder Gary Herr officiating.

Mrs. Smith was born Dec. 29, 1906 in Dawson, one of five children of Albert and Lena Moore.  She married Urshiel Sharon Smith on Nov, 2, 1935.  She enjoyed life as a housewife and mother.  She enjoyed cooking, farming, ranching, gardening and yard work and always took pride in everything she did.  She helped in every way possible when she lived on the farm.  She made time to visit the sick and give encouraging words to those around her.  It seemed that she got more than 24 hours out of each day.  Her many kind deeds and words will never be forgotten.

Mrs. Smith moved to Dawson in 1978.  She enjoyed living in town, visiting friends and talking on the telephone.  Even after suffering a severe stroke in 1996, she never had a harsh word or complaint of any kind.  She always made the best of every situation.  She was a member of Dawson Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Urshiel "U.S." Smith on Sept.

28, 1998; brothers, Carlos Moore, Chester Moore and Tommy Moore; and sister, Gladys.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne S. and Ruth James Smith of Dawson; grandson, Charles Aaron Smith of Dawson; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Memorials may be made to the Dawson Cemetery Association or the Dawson Volunteer Fire Department.

Daniel William Blue Jr., 80, of Corsicana passed away Tuesday, June 15, 1999, in Corsicana.

Mr. Blue was born July 1, 1918 in Corsicana.  He graduated from Corsicana High School in 1936.  He attended University of Texas at Austin, majoring in petroleum engineering until joining the Navy. 

During his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.  He married his wife of 54 years, Kathryn Parrish, on Nov. 1, 1944.

In his younger years, Mr. Blue was very active in youth gymnastics and Methodist Youth Fellowship counseling.  He was instrumental in starting a Little League baseball program in Avon, Ind.  He was a member of Masonic Lodge and Corinthian Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Indiana.  Before falling ill, he was an active member of St. Luke United Methodist Church of Corsicana.

Mr. Blue worked for Mobil Pipeline Company for 43 years as a machinist foreman.  After his retirement, he enjoyed golf, boating, fishing, gardening and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Blue is survived by his wife, Harriet Kathryn Blue of Corsicana; daughter, Lynda Mattman of San Carlos, Calif.; sons, Daniel Blue of Wichita Falls and Robert Blue of Qatar; sister, Margurett Randolph of Houston; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

1968 until his retirement in 1991.  He was a member of Stamford Masonic Lodge, VFW Post No. 3907, State Trooper Association, Certified Police Officers Association, and a Special Texas Ranger.  He served in the U.S.

Army as a sergeant during World War II.  He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jane Renfrow in October 1985; second wife, Jean Renfrow in April 1994.

Survivors include  his daughter, Becky Preeze of Nacogdoches; son, John Renfrow of Palestine; stepdaughter, Rhonda Higginbotham of Arlington; and grandchild, Taylor Ray Renfrow of Bethel.

Mr. Allmon was born Dec. 11, 1919 in Corsicana.  He was a former board member of the Lewisville Independent School District.  He graduated from Corsicana High School and was a veteran serving during World War II in France and Africa.

He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Anderson of Germantown, Tenn., Sharla Bain of Kaufman and Pat Gray of Streetman; grandson, Bradley Bain of Kaufman; granddaughter, Shelly Gray of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Geneva White, 83, of Corsicana and former resident of Fort Worth, passed away Thursday, June 17, 1999, at Mel-Haven Convalescent Home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer Baptist Church in the Elm Flat Community near Powell, with the Rev. W.G. Daniels officiating. 

Interment will follow at Elm Flat Cemetery.

Friends of the family will serve as pallearers.

She was born Jan. 29, 1916 in Kerens.  She was a former member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.  After moving to Fort Worth, she became a member of Pilgrim Valley Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years.

She is survived by her sister, Alvata Lovett of Tyler; sisters-in-law, Lillie Ann Steward of Powell, Della Steward of Corsicana and Dessie Glaze of Dallas; a host of nieces and nephews including Julius E. and Aszrine Holmes of Corsicana, who took care of her in latter years; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. today at Mt. B. Zion Baptist Church in Goodlow, with the Rev. Nathan Carter officiating and the Rev. Ernest Betts Jr. as eulogist.  Interment will follow at Goodlow Cemetery.

Mrs. Steward was born Dec. 2, 1916 in Rusk.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Novell Polk; and sisters, Lilly and Louise.

Mrs. Steward is survived by her husband, J.E. Steward of Kerens; brother, Robert Polk of Rusk; sister, Hazel Wingate of Las Vegas, Nev.; godchildren, Shirley, James, Cameron, Amanda and Maranda Mitchell, all of Kerens; and special friend and caregiver, Mary Ann Armstrong.

Freddie Mae Selmon, 85, of Kerens passed away Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Camlu Care Center in Temple.

Wake services will be 7 to 8 p.m. today at Ross and Johnson Mortuary Chapel.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. B. Zion Baptist Church in Goodlow, with the Rev. Nathan Carter as eulogist and the Rev. Ernest Betts as officiant.  Interment will follow at Goodlow Cemetery.

She was born July 10, 1914 in Kerens.  She was a member of Mt. B. Zion Baptist Church, where she served as secretary of the mission department.  She also served as a deaconess and a member of the choir.

George Allen of Temple, Robert Selmon and wife Verletta of Duncanville, Clifton Selmon of Arlington, Thelma Garnerway and husband the Rev. L.C. Garnerway of Kerens, Lola Whitehead Baston and husband Abe of Corsicana, and Carol Littleton of Kerens; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jettie B. Coleman and Birda Kelly, both of Fort Worth; brothers, Jacob Dan Harris of Oakland, Calif. and Dan Harris Jr. of Seattle, Wash.; five sisters-in-law, and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Hutchins was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle (Sikes) Hutchins.

She was born Nov. 17, 1943 in Corpus Christi.  She had been a resident of Mart for the past 10 years and prior to that had lived in Hubbard since 1976.  She had formerly owned and operated the Texas Burger restaurant in Hubbard.

Survivors include her life partner, George Stone of Mart; mother, Violet McDonald of Palacios; son, Ed and Tyleen Wise of Gladewater; daughter, Delisa and Joel McGolrick of Hubbard; sisters, Deanna Reed of Hubbard, Jeanne Ulbrick of Corpus Christi and Patsy Patricia Schultz of Palacios; grandchildren, Patrick Wise, Leevon Stuckly and Lundi McGolrick; and three great-grandchildren.

Robert Jefferson Anderson

Robert Jefferson Anderson, 97, of Corsicana was taken gently in his sleep to heaven June 22, 1999.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Chapel.  Interment will follow at Birdston Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David Anderson, Nick Anderson, Allan Cason, James Jackson, Walter L. Jackson Jr. and Walter L. Jackson Sr.

Mr. Anderson was born June 22, 1902, in Muskogee, Oklahoma Twin Territories prior to its statehood.  He was the fifth child of six born to James Henry and Martha Austin Anderson. He moved to Texas in 1916. 

In 1932 he moved to Streetman where he met and fell in love with Minnie Milner Curry.  They were married Dec. 23, 1932 in the parsonage of First Baptist Church of Corsicana.

Mr. Anderson and his family lived in many towns in Texas before settling in Conroe in 1957.  Following his retirement in 1967 from Conroe Telephone Company, he and his wife moved to Athens.  They lived in Navasota and Houston from 1986-1995, at which time they moved to Corsicana.

Mr.Anderson participated in politics and was a member of the school board in Montgomery, a devoted father who was his son's boy scout leader in Navasota, a deacon in the Baptist church and acted as a lay minister in jails and nursing homes across Central Texas.

He lived a full and rich life.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Franklin, William and Thomas Anderson; and sisters, Minnie Anderson Reed and Louise Anderson Smith.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife of 67 years, Minnie Curry Anderson of Corsicana; son and daughter-in-law, Robert E. "Gene' and Elizabeth "Betty" Ozan Anderson of Edmond, Okla.; grandson and wife, Robert N.

"Nick" and Lisa Hensarling Anderson and their daughters, Ashley G. and Taylor N. Anderson of Houston; grandson and wife, David N. and Erika Juarez Anderson and their sons, Alexander A.A. and R.D. Ian Anderson of Houston; granddaughter, Susan E. Anderson of Dallas; and nephew, Wesley Anderson of Fort Worth.

Mrs. Alice Berry, aged 96 years native Texan, died in Northwest Apartment Tuesday afternoon. Funeral services will be held from the McCammon Chapel Thursday at 2 p. m. with burial in Oakwood cemetery. The rites will be conducted by Rev. J. W. McKinney, pastor of the First Christian Church. Mrs. Berry was born, April 10, 1860, at Rusk, Texas and had made her home in Corsicana more than 40 years. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. E. L. Owen, Mrs. Luther Orange and Mrs. Lillie Talley, all of Corsicana, and Mrs. Maudie Jones, Athens, a son, E. B. Berry, Waco; 21 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Mrs. Alice Berry Rites Thursday

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Berry, 96, who died at her residence in Northwest Apartments Tuesday afternoon, were held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the McCammon Chapel. Burial was in
Oakwood cemetery.

The rites were conducted by Rev. J. W. McKinney, pastor of the First Christian church, and Rev. J. F. Adams, Methodist minister.

A native of Rusk, Texas, Mrs. Berry had resided in Corsicana more than 40 years.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. E. L. Owen, Mrs. Luther Orange and Mrs. Lillie Talley, all of Corsicana, and Mrs. Maudie Jones, Athens; a son, D. B. Berry, Waco; 21, grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Buna Carr, Elmer Owen, Weldon Owen, Robert Fulton, Sam Fulton and Bobby Jones.

Berry, aged 72 years, who died at his residence in the Thorp Addition, Friday afternoon at 4:45 o'clock were held Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the residence with interment in Oakwood cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. Paul J. Merrill, pastor of the First Christian church. Mr. Berry had bee ill since Tuesday. He was born in Missouri, Illinois, but came to Texas 57 years ago. He resided in the Kerens community for thirty years prior to moving to Corsicana ten years ago. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Edgar Berry, Venus, Texas, W. J. FUNERAL SERVICES FOR E. M. BERRY HELD SATURDAY AFTERNOON

Funeral services for E. M. Berry, aged 72 years, who died at his residence in the Thorp Addition, Friday afternoon at 4:45 o’clock, were held Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock from the residence with interment in

One sister, Mrs. Mattie Shivers, Bardwell, also survives. Sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive
