Ira Decherd McAfee was born Feb 11, 1884 at Emmett, or Frost, in Navarro County Texas to Hugh Embury & Elizabeth Rice "Bettie" (Groves) McAfee. He married Nancy Caroline "Nannie" Ballew, the daughter of Absalom Posey & Partelia Aveline (Coxsey) Ballew. Nancy was born Dec. 20, 1882 in Fetzerton, Polk
Co., TN
Ira, like many of the McAfee family, was musically inclined and helped compose the Hymn "Whiter Than Snow". Ira
and his brother in law, Fred Mitchell (husband if Eva Florence McAfee), ran the Mitchell & McAfee Jewelry Store at 214 South Beaton
Street in Corsicana, TX. He was a life long Methodist. Ira and Nancy had nine children:

CORSICANA, Texas (Sp) -- I.D. McAfee, 76, former Corsicana jeweler, died at his home in Graham Friday.
Funeral services were held from the North Corsicana Methodist Church Sunday with
burial in the Emmett cemetery. He was a lifelong Methodist. Surviving are his
wife of Graham; two sons, H. D. McAfee, Arlington, and I. D. McAfee, Dallas; four
daughters, 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four brothers and four sisters.

I. D. McAfee, 76, native of Navarro county, former Corsicana merchant,
died in Graham Friday night.
Funeral services will be held from the North Corsicana Methodist church here
Sunday at 2 p.m. with burial in the Emmett cemetery.
A life-long Methodist, McAfee was born at Emmett and later after farming in
Young county, returned to Navarro county and became a school Teacher.
Joining a brother-in-law, the late Fred Mitchell, in the jewelry business as
Mitchell and McAfee at Hubbard, the firm later moved to Corsicana and McAfee
operated the business for many years.
Surviving are his wife of Graham, two sons, H. D. McAfee, Arlington, a former
Corsicana city sanitarian, and I.D. McAfee, Dallas; four daughters, Mrs. Fred
Ware, Corsicana; Mrs. Vivian Ferguson, Brownwood; Mrs. O. H. Bran don, Compton,
Calif.; and Mrs E. H. Parry, Puyallup. Wash.; 14 grandchildren, two great
grandchildren; four brothers, DW. McAfee, Compton, Calif.; Rev. Edmund McAfee,
Mineral Springs, Ark.; R. E. McAfee Penelope, and Richard McAfee Alameda,
Calif.; four sisters Mrs. Eva Mitchell, Graham Mrs. Mattie Fagala, Blooming
Grove; Mrs. Steve Johnson Graham, and Mrs. Herman Daniel, Emmett, and other
relatives.
Pallbearers will be Paul Moore, Jeff Harwell. Graham Dickson P. M. Gladney, J.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ira D. McAfee, aged 66 years, killed Sunday night
while crossing a street at Compton, Calif., when struck by an automobile were
held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the North Corsicana Methodist church.
