Grove High School. Entered the U.S. Army on June 16, 1942. Served 36 months with
the 436th Battalion in the 5th Army Division. Also saw service in Africa,
Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. Married Charlene Childress.

Commercial College. Entered the U.S. Air Force November 26, 1941, serving
in headquarters Mess and Small Arms Dept. Transferred to Truax Field,
Madison, Wisconsin for Technical Training, then to Chanute Field for Radar
training. to Boca Raton for advanced radar training. Discharged Nov 26,

(RIP) COLLINS
1st Lt. Wm Clayton (RIP) Collins, son of Chas. W. and Nell Dixon Collins,
attended Emhouse, Ennis and Corsicana Schools. Graduate of Texas A&M where
he served as cadet lt. col. during his senior year. Served 18 months in
Mediterranean Theater with the 15th Air Force and earned the Air Medal and EAME
Air Force Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars. Married to the former Dixie Belle
Williams of Fort Worth. Killed in a B-29 crash, Hickman Field, Hawaii, in

Married to Hazel Ray of Atlanta, Ga. Graduate of Corsicana High School.
Entered service March 1942, serving in the Pacific area with the 64th Field
Artillery, 25th Div. at Guadalcanal, Vella Lavella, New Guinea, Hollandia, Leyte
and Luzon. Fatally injured in an airplane crash over Leyte. KILLED

Bronze Stars, Purple Hearts, Good Conduct Medal, American/Defense Service Medal,
Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Service Star.

Stars, American Defenses, Good Conduct, Purple Heart, 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze
Star Medal, Wounded twice. Discharged in 1945.

Lt. Col. Oliver Crespo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emile Crespo. Married the
former Mary Elzabeth Marshall. Served in the European Theater with the
U.S. Air Force. He was pilot with the 9th Troop Carrier Command flying
over the Charborg Peninsula in teh early days of D-Dat, carrying part of the
first paratroopers participating in the Allied Offensive. Received the Air
medal and 2 Oak Leaf Clusters.Notes:
