Assigned to 3rd Army (Gen Patton), 347 Inf. 87th Div. 336 Field Art., Radio Com. ETO; France, Battle of Bulge, Rhineland. Set up Fm network to issue procedure/instructions for Units at surrender of Germany. Awarded Purple Heart. Presidential Unit. Good Conduct, ETO, 3 Battle Stars, Combat Badge. Discharged in 1946.

Pvt. Joseph A. Perry, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Perry of Corsicana. Attended Grange Hall School. Entered service Jan 26, 1939. Went overseas in Sept 1943, with the U.S. Army 5th Cavalry. He was killed on Luzon on Feb. 16, 1945.

Pfc. James Monroe (Jim) Pillans, son of Ben and Oletha Melton Pillans. Husband of the former Frances Marie Gullatt. Attended St. Elmo School, Winkler. Enlisted in March 1942, training at Camp Barkley, Abilene. Member of historic 90th Div. which marched victoriously through Europe. Received 5 Battle Stars - Normandy, N. Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe. Received Good Conduct Medal, Cavalry Inf. Badge, Bronze Arrowhead. Participated in EAME Theater. Discharged Oct. 25, 1945.

T/5 Herbert M. Plant, husband of Frankie Vyers Plant, entered service Oct. 26, 1942, and was attached to the 136th Inf. Reg., 33rd Div. Served in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign where he was a driver of various kinds of military vehicles. Awarded American Theater Medal, Asiatic-Pacific, Victory Medal, Liberation Medal, 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon, 1 Service Stripe, 1 Overseas Service Bar. Deceased 1955

ROBERT LEE POARCH
Seaman 2/C Robert Lee Poarch, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. B.D. Poarch of Rice. Enlisted in the U.S. Navy July 4, 1942, training at San Diego Naval Training Sta. and was based in the Hawaiian Islands. Served in the Pacific Theater for the duration of the war. Upon his return from the war, he married his wife Faye, formerly of Ennis.
