Charlie B. Knott, 85, of Corsicana died Jan. 1, 1993 in Corsicana.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Corley Funeral Chapel.
Brother Bill Honea will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 5, 1907 in New Market, Alabama. He was a retired farmer and a member of the First Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Shug Knott, in 1982.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Pat Knott of Corsicana; one sister, Virginia Morton of Garland; one brother, L. V. Knott of Lancaster, six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Thomas Eugene Quinn, 72, of Corsicana, died Jan. 1, 1992 [sic], at Mel-Haven Convelescent Center.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wayne Mahoney officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Survivors include his foster mother, Mamie Page; and 11 children.

Mary Violet Temple, 98, of Corsicana, died Jan. 3, 1993, at Navarro Regional Hospital

Graveside services were 10 a.m. Tuesday in Oakwood Cemetery, with Bill Honea officiating. Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include two nephews, Franklin C. Temple of Houston and George Temple of Beaumont.

Elisabeth Tabraham, 81, of Liberty, died Jan. 5, 1993, at the Baptist Hospital in Liberty.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Oakwood Cemetery, with Dr. Dale Gorman officiating. Arrangements are with Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. She was a former resident of Corsicana.

Survivors include one nephew and niece-in-law, Dr. Jere and Vernille Showalter of Liberty; one great-niece, Sharon Duncan of Amarillo, Jere Showalter III of Dallas.

Elisabeth Tabraham, 81, of Liberty, died Jan. 5, 1993 at the Baptist Hospital in Liberty.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Oakwood Cemetery, with Dr. Dale Gorman officiating. Arrangements are with Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

She was born Oct. 9, 1911 in Corsicana and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Church, pioneer residents of Corsicana. She is the sister of Hazel Church Showalter.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Tabraham.

Survivors include one nephew and niece-in-law, Dr. Jere and Vernille Showalter of Liberty, one great-niece, Sharon Duncan of Amarillo, Jere Showalter III of Dallas.

A. C. Frazier, 79, of Malakoff, died Jan. 5, 1993, in Corsicana.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. David Hale officiating. Corley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born June 2, 1913, in Roane. He was a former resident of Corsicana and a retired mail carrier for the U. S. Postal Service. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Malakoff and a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1941 - 1945.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Frazier of Malakoff; one son, Randy Frazier of Henderson; and four grandchildren

Pallbearers will be Bill Cogdell, John Bumgardner, Benny Rogers, Robert Bush, Henry Bevels and Newton Davis.

Borsellino Rites Set Saturday

Charles Borsellino of Galveston, age 76, a former Corsicana resident, died in a hospital in Galveston Thursday morning. He had lived in the coast city for 30 years and was in business for himself.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Galveston.

Surviving are his wife, Mary and three sons of Galveston, Jerome, Paul and Donald, and a fourth son, Francis Joe of Corsicana, a daughter, Mrs. Bessie Morris and a brother, Donald Borsellino of Corsican; eight grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Girl Died East Of Corsicana Early Tuesday Afternoon

Josephine Louise Chirafis, 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Chirafis who reside on the Corsicana-Chatfield road, died Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock and the funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon from the Church of the Immaculate Conception with interment in the Catholic cemetery.

The services will be conducted by Monsignor V. Graffeo of the local parish.

Corley Funeral Home will have charge of the funeral.

Funeral Wednesday For Little Girl At Catholic Church

Funeral services for Josephine Louise Chirafis, 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Chirafis, who died Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the Church of the Immaculate Conception with burial in the Catholic cemetery. The young girl died at the family home on the Corsicana-Chatfield road east of town.

The funeral services were conducted by Monseignor V. Graffeo of the local parish.

Surviving are the parents, two sisters, Antonnette and Rosalie, and a brother, John Chirafis.

The funeral was directed by the Corley Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for Mrs. Frances Chirafis, 79, of Corsicana, who died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital.

The Rev. John Fowler will officiate and burial will follow at the Catholic cemetery.

Mrs. Chirafis was a native of Bryan and had lived here for 70 years.

A rosary will be held 8 p.m. Thursday at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel.

Survivors include one son, Johnny M. Chirafis of Corsicana; one daughter, Mrs. M. F. (Rosalee) Boyer of Abilene; two granddaughters, Mrs. Frances Matous of Corsicana and Mrs. Rose Ann Renouf of Arlington; two grandsons, John Mack Boyer and Stephen Boyer both of Abilene; four great-granddaughters, Kathleen, Mary Frances, Michelle and Denise Matous all of Corsicana; and two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Samaritano and Mrs. Margaret Palmeri, both of Corsicana.

Pallbearers will be Louis Territo, Joe Territo, Paul Territo, Donald Palmeri, Frank Borsellino, Louis Kormos, Louis Chirafis and Sammy Palmeri.

Funeral services are pending at Corley Funeral Home for Louis Joe Territo, 57, of Corsicana, who died Tuesday in Dallas following a lengthy illness.

He was a native of Navarro County and had lived most of his life in Corsicana.

Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Audrene Territo of Corsicana; two sons, Danny Territo and Joey Territo, both of Corsicana; a daughter, Jo Ann Territo of Corsicana; a step-son, Ricky Yeatts of Corsicana; his mother, Mrs. Josephine Phinney of Corsicana; five sisters, Mrs. Margaret Patrick of Ferris, Miss Ann Territo, Mrs. Rosa Lee Johnson, and Mrs. Frances Holder, all of Lubbock, and Mrs. Vincie Walton of Fort Worth; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Church for Louis Territo, 57, who died Tuesday in Dallas following a lengthy illness. Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Thursday at a local funeral home chapel.

Rev. A. J. Merkel officiate [sic], and burial was at the Catholic Cemetery.

Survivors include his widow, two sons, a daughter, five sisters, and several nieces and nephews.

He was owner of the Corsicana Motor Company and a local taxi cab company owner.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Church for Ponciano Gonzales, 85, of Corsicana, who died Saturday at Twilight Home. The Very Rev. August Merkel, pastor, officiated and burial was at Calvary Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Emmett Gonzales and Pete Gonzales, both of Corsicana; a daughter, Mrs. Henry Chavoya of Dallas; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a brother, Quirino Gonzales of Dallas.

EXTENSION CORD SHORTED AND CURRENT PASSED THOUGH BODY

While working repairing machinery at the Southland Cotton Oil company's plant Thursday afternoon at 4 o’clock. W. H. Morris, aged 24 years, single, was almost instantly killed when an electric extension cord was in some manner shorted. The young man was perspiring freely and the current passed through his body. He had been employed by that firm for about three years. He was working with a negro laborer at the time of the fatal shock.

The remains were taken to Bazette Friday afternoon where interment was made at 4:30 o’clock.

Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Morris of Round Prairie, south of Kerens; four brothers, Weldon, W. G. Johnny and Jack Morris, all of Round Prairie; four sisters, Mrs. J. A. Etheridge, Corsicana; Misses Hazel, Julia and Zetta Fern Morris, all of Round Prairie.

W. E. Horn, 85, retired implement dealer, long-time member and deacon of the First Baptist church, died Thursday morning.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Corley Chapel with burial in the Bazette cemetery.

The rites will be conducted by Rev. Gerald Williamson, Corsicana area Baptist missionary.

Horn had resided in Corsicana 58 years.

Surviving are his wife of Corsicana; a sister, Mrs. Mary Smith, Lisbon, La.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

MEMBER FORREST's BRIGADE IS DEAD; LIVED AT KERENS

KERENS, Feb. 6, 6—(Spl,)—A. T. Webster, aged 87, pioneer resident of Kerens, and Confederate veteran died at 12:20 here Monday morning, and funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock by Rev. H. C. Bowman at the Methodist church.

Mr. Webster is survived by his widow and one brother, B. H. Webster of Dallas.

He was a member of the famous cavalry brigade led by General Forrest, during the Civil War.

Thomas Marion “Tom” Shelton, Sr.

T. M. Shelton Dies Sunday Rites Tuesday

KERENS, March 23—(Spl.)—T. M. (Tom) Shelton, Sr., 90, retired farmer, died in the Stubbs Convalescent home in Corsicana Sunday following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. from the First Baptist church. Burial will be in the Bazette Baptist cemetery.

The rites will be conducted by Rev. J. W. Ousley, Baptist minister, ad Rev. J. Garland McKee, pastor.

A native of Kentucky, he had spent most of his life in this community.

Surviving are four sons, Brack, Lester, Roland and T. M. Shelton, Jr., all of Kerens; four daughters, Mrs. Mid Tyner, Mrs. Ben R. Cherry and Mrs. Clint Baxter, all of Kerens, and Mrs. Rufus Massey, Long Beach, Calif.; 25 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

KERENS, Dec. 18—(Spl.)—Mrs. T. M. Shelton, Sr., 83, died at her home here Tuesday afternoon following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held from the First Baptist church, of which she was a member, Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with burial in the Bazette Baptist cemetery.

The rites will be conducted by Dr. J. W. Ousley of Waco, and Rev. J. Garland McKee, pastor of the church.

A native of Arkansas, Mrs. Shelton had resided in the Kerens vicinity most of her life.

Mrs. Shelton and her husband who survives celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year.

Surviving are her husband of Kerens; four sons, T. M. Jr., Brack, Lester and Roland Shelton, all of Kerens; four daughters, Mrs. Rufus Massey, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Mid Tyner, Mrs. Clint Baxter, and Mrs. Ben Cherry, all of Kerens; a sister, Mrs. Daisy Etheredge, Houston; 25 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and other relatives.

AGED WOMAN DIED PICKETT WEDNESDAY BURIAL THURSDAY

Mrs. J. C. Stephenson, age 85, years, died early Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. S. Parker, in the Pickett community. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the chapel of the Corley Funeral Home and will be conducted by Rev. H. Henry of Rice. Burial will be in the Bazette cemetery.

Mrs. Stephenson was a native of Tennessee, but had been a resident of Navarro county for 57 years. She had been in ill health for several months.

Surviving are a son, Arthur Stephenson, Hobbs, New Mexico; five daughters, Mrs. Martha Rose, five daughters, Mrs. Martha Rose, Sherman; Mrs. J. S. Parker, Pickett; Mrs. Ida Banks, Ennis; Mrs. J. R. Bowden, Rice; Mrs. J. A. McGinnis, Texarkana; twenty grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be J. W. Arnett, J. D. Marion, Roy Holley, Raymond Holley, Alvin Jones, Gus Neal and L. Banks.

Ollie M. Perry, 65, of 205 East First avenue, was dead on arrival at Memorial hospital Saturday afternoon following a heart attack.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Corley Chapel with burial in the Bazette cemetery.

The rites were conducted by Rev. Earl Batey, pastor of the Central Baptist church.

Surviving are his wife of Corsicana; a son, Ollie Lee Perry; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Wheeler and Miss Brenda Sue Perry, and two grandchildren, all of Corsicana; a brother, Jessie Perry, Dallas, and other relatives.

Pallbearers were nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Stella Horn, 90, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Corley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Potts officiating. Burial was in the Bazette cemetery. She died Tuesday in Evergreen Nursing Home.

A resident of Corsicana for 40 years, she is survived by one brother, Vert Harris of Kerens; a sister, Mrs. Katy Taylor of Nashville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were J. J. Burke, C. E. Wright, John Nelson, Marvin Henderson, Lonnie Burnes and T. J. Horn.

KERENS, July 12—Funeral services for Mrs. Viola Mae Sessions, aged 24 years, were held Wednesday afternoon from the Bazette church. She became ill Monday night and died Tuesday morning.

Mrs. Sessions was a WAC during the war.

Surviving are her husband, Frank Sessions, Kerens; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Combs, Kerens; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Smith, Brownwood; Merline and Othella Combs, Kerens; three brothers, Cleveland and Chester Ray, Kerens; and J. C. Combs, Houston; and two half-brothers, Fred L. Conerly, New York City, and Frank L. Conerly, Houston.

Funeral services for James Foy Scarbrough, 76, native of Kerens who died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital, will be at 10 a. m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Kerens.

Rev. Olin Boles and Rev. Charles Pringle will officiate.

Scarbrough was a retired oil field worker, farmer and rancher. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kerens.

Survivors include his widow, Martha Scarbrough of Kerens, a son Weldon Scarbrough of Kerens, a daughter, Mrs. Pat Haladay of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Weldon Scarbrough of Long Beach, Calif.; and four sisters, Mrs. Iva Sheppard of Kerens, Mrs. Ester Cowen of Price, Mrs. Buena Eckelman of Athens, and Mrs. Fay Weaver of DeLand, Fla.

KERENS, Dec. 23, (Spl.)—Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie C. Scarbrough, 91, who died in the Navarro clinic Sunday following a long illness, will be held from the First Baptist church here Tuesday at 2 p.m. with burial in the Bazette Baptist cemetery.

The services will be conducted by Rev. Sam Cirelli, pastor of the Bazette Baptist church, of which Mrs. Scarbrough was a charter member, and Rev. Don Walker, pastor of the First Baptist church here.

A native of Mississippi, Mrs. Scarbrough came to Bazette and Kerens area when 17 years of age. She was the widow of the late J. W. Scarbrough.

Surviving are two sons, Foy Scarbrough, Kerens, and Weldon Scarbrough, California; four daughters, Mrs. Iva Sheppard, Kerens; Mrs. Ester Cowen, Price; Mrs. Buena Eckleman, Corsicana, and Mrs. Fay Weaver, Orlando, Fla.; a brother Joe Walker, Kerens; a sister Mrs. Ola Kirk, Kerens; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a number of other relatives.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Kerens Rites For Scarbrough
Final rites for A. B. Scarbrough, who died Tuesday at the age of 76, were conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Inmon Funeral Home in Kerens.

The Rev. Don Walker, pastor of the First Baptist church in Kerens, conducted, and burial was in the Bazette cemetery.

Scarbrough, who lived at 718 South Fourteenth street, died in Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. A native of Kerens, he moved to Corsicana about 20 years ago.

Surviving are the wife of Corsicana and two brothers, Whit Scarbrough and Roy Scarbrough, both of Kerens.

Lost Three Fingers
While out squirrel hunting last Tuesday, Mr. W. M. Scarbrough met with a very serious accident. The gun he was using exploded and so badly lacerated his left hand that he had to go to the hospital at Corsicana where three fingers on the injured hand were removed.

W. M. Scarborough, who died in the P. and S. Hospital yesterday afternoon, was for many years a good citizen of the Kerens community. Some weeks ago a gun exploded in his hand and some of his fingers had to be taken off. Later blood poison set and the arm was amputated, but he failed to rally, and death resulted from his wounds and other causes.

The deceased was sixty-three years old and is survived by his wife and several grown children. The body was sent to Kerens last night and interment took place there this afternoon.

Mrs. Mattie Scarborough, aged 72 years, died at 8:40 Thursday morning at her home in Kerens. Funeral services will be held from the First Baptist church there Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Burial will be in Bazette cemetery.

Mrs. Scarborough had been a resident of Kerens for a number of years and was well known over that section.

AGED KERENS WOMAN BURIED ON FRIDAY BAZETTE CEMETERY

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Scarborough, aged 72 years, who died at her home in Kerens, Thursday morning at 8:40 o’clock, were held from the First Baptist church there Friday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. John J. Nowlin, 73, of Hubbard, died Jan. 26, 1993, at the Veteran's Hospital in Temple.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Wade Funeral Home chapel in Hubbard. William Pearson and the Rev. Jerry Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery in Hubbard. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 21, 1919, in Chandler, Texas. He was a resident of Hubbard since 1984. Prior to that he resided in Angleton. He was a retired auto mechanic, a member of the VFW Post No. 2148 in Waco, and an Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Baptist church.

He was born Aug. 17, 1910, in Cairo, Ill. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired civil service engineer and draftsman for the U. S. government. He was also a member of the Tool Baptist Church and a member of the 49'rs Club in Seven Points.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Shelton Hosler.

He is survived by two daughters, Yvette Bonner of Kemp and Linda Farr of England; one brother, Virgil Hosler of Riverside, Utah; one sister, Susan Fleckner of Powell, Wyo.; two grandsons, Matthew Benson of Richardson and Samuel Bonner of Kemp; five granddaughters, Alisha Farr of England, Lynette Wilson of Talty, Suzanne Bonner of Lancaster and Rebecca and Elizabeth Benson of Richardson; and two great-grandchildren. Jim S. Berry, 63, of 1606 Columbia, died in Memorial Hospital Tuesday morning following a short illness.

Funeral Services For Pioneer Purdon Citizen Wednesday

The funeral services for A. J. Davis, 84, a pioneer resident of Navarro county, were held from the Purdon Baptist church, of which he was a member, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with burial in the Dawson cemetery. The rites were conducted by Rev. E. L. Gray, pastor of the church, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Fisher, pastor of the Purdon Methodist church.

Mr. Davis was a native of Missouri, came to Texas at the age of 10 years and had resided in the Purdon community for more than 60 years.

Surviving are his wife; eight children, Elbert, A. C. and Wm. Davis, of Purdon, and P. B. Davis, Corsicana; Mrs. Fred Ford and Mrs. Matt Tickle, of Purdon; Mrs. Sid Derbin, of Houston, and Mrs. Ben Shell, of Blooming Grove; 24 grandchildren 16 great grandchildren and many other relatives.

Funeral Services For Mrs. Dora Davis

Funeral services for Mrs. Dora Davis, aged 77 years, who died at her home in Purdon Monday evening, were held at the Purdon Baptist church Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock with Rev. Fisher, pastor of the Purdon Methodist church and Rev. Robert Williams, pastor of the Central Baptist church of Blooming Grove conducting the rites.

Mrs. Davis was a native of Arkansas, but had spent most of her life in the Purdon community She was the wife of the late A. J. Davis, who preceded her in death Oct. 21, 1941.

Mrs. Davis had lived a long and useful life, had been a member of the Purdon Baptist church for the past 38 years, and the large number of friends and neighbors attending the last rites and the profusion of beautiful flowers bore silent testimony to the love and esteem in which this good woman was held. Surviving are four sons: E. L., A. C. and W. H. Davis, Purdon, and P. B. Davis, Corsicana; four daughters, Mrs. Fred Ford and Mrs. M. W. Tickle, Purdon; Mrs. Sid Durbin, Houston, and Mrs. Ben Shell, Blooming Grove; 24 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives

Interment was made in the Dawson cemetery.

Mrs. A. J. Davis, aged 77 years, died at her home in Purdon Monday night. Funeral services were held from the Purdon Baptist church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock with burial in the

A native of Arkansas, Mrs. Davis had resided in Navarro county for sixty-two years.

He was born Dec. 3, 1918, in Poteau, Okla. He moved to Dawson in 1930 and was an auto mechanic and owned and operated Roger-Etter Garage in Dawson for many years. He was a veteran of world War II where he served as a master sergeant in the Army Air Corp. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James Etter, with whom he owned the garage.

Survivors include his sister, Mary Jane Perry of Gorman; one aunt, Holly Patterson of Dallas; one nephew, Roland Edward Perry of Gorman; and his friend, Eva Mae Pearce of Dawson.

He was born Sept. 12, 1906, in Teague. He was a Shriner and a member of the Richland Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Corsicana.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Withrow of Corsicana; two sons, F. E. Withrow III and Joel David Withrow, both of Corsicana; two grandsons, Mike Withrow and Mark Withrow, both of Corsicana; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral rites for Walter Andrus, 57, retired farmer, Route 1, who died in the Navarro clinic Tuesday, were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Corley Chapel.

Rev. Paul Wiseman, pastor of the Eleventh Avenue Methodist church, conducted the services. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery.

A native of Bryan, he had resided most of his life in Navarro county.

Surviving are his wife, Corsicana; two sons, H. V. Andrus, Corsicana, and B. G. Andrus, Lancaster; a daughter, Mrs. A. T. Pickens, Nederland; eight grandchildren; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ike Andrus, Hutchins; three brothers, O. L. and Norman Andrus, both of Dallas, and Ike Andrus, Jr., Hutchins; six sisters, Mrs. E. A. Anderson, Mont Carmel, Ill.; Mrs. Cora Lee, Shreveport, La.; and Mrs. I. W. Rives, Mrs. Harold Ashley, Mrs. Eli Schepps and Mrs. Ole Olsen, all of Dallas, and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was active in his community, county and state. He served on the Board of Trustees for Pelham High school. Some of his achievements included: certificate of honor recognizing Porter Family ownership of land over 100 years, presented by Texas Commission of Agriculture; 4-H certificate of appreciation, from Texas A&M University for service to Navarro County youth; Come-back farmer of the year in 1972; recipient of a tribute from the United Methodist Men, National Lay-Leader Assembly at Purdue University; First black family to receive loan from the Farmers Home Administration in 1950; Soil Conservationist certificate from Navarro County.

Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Porter of Pelham; three daughters, Cecilia Heiskell and Darlene Holloway, both of Pelham, and Elayne Robinson of Dallas; one son, Bernard Porter of Pelham; one son-in-law, Dr. Burtis Robinson of Dallas; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Sweeney of Dallas; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Una Freeman Bell, 95, of Corsicana, died Feb. 16, 1993, in Twilight Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Dresden Cemetery, under the direction of Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home with Bert Mercer officiating.

She was a former resident of Barry.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Marcie Lou and John Braly of Barry; two grandchildren, Wade and Merideth Braly of Barry and Gleyn and Steve Phillips of Barry; and one great-grandchild, Katy Phillips of Barry.

Clarence Hall, 69, of Purdon, died Feb. 25, 1993, at Navarro Regional Hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, with Doyle Purifoy officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Hall of Purdon; three sons, Larry Hall and Clifford Hall, both of Purdon, and Danny Hall of Silver City; and seven grandchildren.

William Flint Spurrier, 65, of Dallas, died Feb. 27, 1993 in Dallas.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Corley Funeral Chapel. Dr. David Hale officiated. Burial was in Dresden Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 26, 1928 in Corsicana.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. William Flint Spurrier of Dallas; two sons, Tim Spurrier of Dallas and Reginal Spurrier of Arizona; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers include, Douglas Knight, Stanley Luce, David Melton, Donnie Spurrier, Danny Lee and Weldon Brooks.
