Pvt. L. T. Upton, son of Mrs. L. S. Upton, Ky., husband of the former Miss Ella Bella Woods, Corsicana, graduate of Kentucky High School.  Entered the Army, 1940, trained at Ft. Knox, Ky., Ft. Sill, Okla., Camp Edwards, Mass., and Camp Chaffee, Ark.  Has served in England, France, and Belgium, now on duty in Germany.

VANDER LANN, THEODORE F.
CBM Theodore F. Vander Laan, son of Mr. Theodore Vander Laan, husband of the former Miss Kathleen Mikell, attended Corsicana High School.  Entered service, 1942, trained with Navy at Norfolk, Va.  Has served in Aleutians, Marshall Islands and Pearl Harbor.  Given Medical discharge, 1945.
VANDYGRIFF, WALKER L.
Pfc. Walker L. Vandygriff, husband of the former Miss Elizabeth Lewis.  Entered service, 1943, trained with Anit-Aircraft at Ft. Ord. Now on duty somewhere in Pacific.
VARGO, ALFRED F.
T/Sgt. Alfred F. Vargo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Vargo, attended Emhouse Schools.  Entered service, 1941, trained with Army at Camp Polk, Fort Knox, in California, Virginia, and Penn.  Has served in England, France, Belgium and now on duty in Germany.

VARGO, WILLIAM Z.
S/Sgt. William Z. Vargo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Vargo, attended Emhouse Schools.  Entered service, 1941, trained with Army at Camp Roberts and in Panama Canal.  Has served in Trinidad, S. America, Itly, France and Germany, wounded in France, 1944, and in Germany, 1944.  Has Purple Heart, Oak Leaf Cluster, Infantry Badge and Good Conduct Ribbon.
VARLEY, JOHN E.
A/C John E. Varley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Varley, Corsicana, graduate of Corsicana High School.  Entered service, 1944, trained with Air Corps at Sheppard Field, Ellensburg, Washington, and San Antonio, Texas.  Now stationed at Midland Army Air Field.

SM 1/C Robert W. Varnell, son of Mr. R. W. Varnell and the late Mrs. Lulu Varnell, graduate of Barry High School, and Texas Tech.  Entered the Navy, 1942, trained at San Francisco.  Has served in the South Pacific, now on duty at Naval Amphibious Base, Pierce, Fla.
VARNELL, RALPH
Sgt. Ralph (Buck) Varnell, son of R. W. Varnell, and the late Mrs. Lulu Varnell, Barry, graduate of Barry Hill School and Trinity Univ. Entered the Air Corps in 1940, trained at Barksdale, La., Sheppard Field, Mo. and Chanute Field, Ill. Has served in Puerto Rico and the Canal Zone, now on duty at Victoria, Kansas.

Cpl. Olin K. Varner, son of Mrs. Bessie Covey, Corsicana, husband of the former Miss Antionette Chirafis, attended Powell School.  Entered service, 1943, trained with Air Corps at Luke Field, Ariz.  Now stationed at a camp in Utah.
VARNER, ROBERT W.
Pvt. Robert W. Varner, son of Mrs. Bessie Covey, Corsicana, husband of the former Miss Julia Mae Greer, attended Powell School.  Entered service, 1944, trained with Army at Camp Hood, now on duty at Camp Hood.

Pfc. William J. Varner, son of Mrs. Bessie Covey, Corsicana.  Attended Powell Schools.  Entered service 1943, training with the Army at Camp Gruber, Oklahoma.  Served in Africa and Italy.  Now on duty at Ft. Sam Houston.  Has Good Conduct, European Theater ribbon and Battle Star.
 
VAUGHAN, WESLEY E.
Pfc. Wesley E. Vaughan, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Vaughan.  Attended Bryan Schools.  Entered service, 1944.  Trained with the Army at Camp Crowder and Camp Polk.  Served in Philippines and is now in Manila.
VAUGHAN, LEWIS O.
T/Sgt. Lewis O. Vaughan, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Vaughan, attended Corsicana High School.  Entered the Army July 30, 1942, training at Camp Edwards, Mass., Ft. Ord, Calif. and Berkley, Calif.  Served in Australia and Philippines.  Is now at Mindanao.
VAUGHN, RAY D.
Sgt. Ray D. Vaughn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex ray.  Attended Frost High School.  Entered the Marines July 2, 1941, training at San Diego.  Served at Guadalcanal, Solomons, New Zealand, Marianas.  Now on duty on Okinawa.
VAUGHN, SAMUEL L.
Pfc. Samuel L. Vaughn, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Vaughn, Corsicana.  Entered service 1945.  Trained with the Army at Camp Bowie, Camp Blanding, Camp Edwards, and Ft. Benning.  Served at New Guinea and is now on duty in Philippines.
VENABLE, HUBERT W.
Pfc. Hubert W. Venable, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Venable, Ennis.  Wife, the former Margaret Lorene Plunkett.  Graduate of Byrd High School.  Entered service, 1942, training with the Air Corps at Blackland AAF, Waco.  Is now on duty at Blackland.
VENABLE, WILMER O.
Pfc. Wilmer O. Venable, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Venable, graduated from Stubbs High School.  Entered the Infantry in 1942, training at Camp Barkley.  Served in England, France, and Germany.
VERHYDEN, MACK
Lt. Mack Verhyden, son of Mrs. Hala M. Fluker, Corsicana.  Attended Richland Schools and Texas Tech.  Entered service, 1943.  Attended Officers Candidate School at Ft. Belvoir, Va., being commissioned June 27, 1944.  Attended Small Arms School at Aberdeen, Md.  Is now instructor of small arms at Ft. Belvoir, Va.

1st Lt. Lewis V. Vernon, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Vernon, Sr., wife, the former Fannie Mae Thomas.  Attended Kerens High School, and NTAC, Arlington, NTSTC, Denton, Tex.  Mobilized with National Guard in 1940, training at Camp Bowie.  Attended OCS at Ft. Sill, Okla.  Now on duty at Luzon.  Has S. Pacific Ribbon and Philippine Ribbon.

VEST, NOLAN
Nolan, Vest, son of A. M. Vest, Frost.  Attended school in Blooming Grove.  Entered service in Oct., 1941.  Served in European Theater.  Killed in action, July 13, 1944.
