Claude Keele, 38, of Hunington, formerly of Kountze died April 7 in Methodist Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services were earlier today in the Broussard Chapel in Kountze. Interment will follow in the Prairie Point Cemetery in Kerens at 4 p.m. with Bro. David Busby and Bro. Earl Burns officiating.

Mr. Keele was born November 21, 1958 in Corsicana. He was a logger and a Pentecostal.

Mr. Keele is survived by his wife, Virgie Keele of Hunington; son, Kevin Keele of Hunington; father, Marvin Keele of Emhouse; sisters, Marlene Jock of Malakoff, Annette Coleman of Kerens, Ruth Fowler of Corsicana; brothers, Eugene Keele of Hunington, Lonnie Keele of Emhouse, Timothy Keele, Alva Ray Keele and Harlen Keele all of Corsicana; grandmother, Ioma Perry of Kerens.

Irene Morton, 89, of Dallas died July 2 at Buckner's Rayburn Nursing Center in Dallas.

Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the Paschal Funeral Home.

Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Paschal Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. L.L. Conner officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Point Cemetery.

Pallbearers are her grandsons.

Mrs. Morton was born November 14, 1907 in Kerens. She was a vocational nurse and worked at Navarro County Hospital for many years.

Mrs. Morton is survived by her son, James C. Morton of Lewisville; a brother, Z.O Faughn of Ozan, Arkansas; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Matthews was born April 26, 1922 to James Herbert Tramel and Mary Evelyn Tyner.

Mrs. Matthews is survived by a daughter, Carmen Riley of California; two sons, Bobby and Kenneth Matthews both of California; four sisters, Melvina Martin of San Antonio, Billie Reynolds of Nevada, Shananan of Amarillo and Joyce Day of California; two brothers, Wilfred Tramel of Houston and James Tramel of Hillsboro; and 3 grandchildren.

James Clyde Goodwin, 53, of Mabank died Sept. 13.

Mr. Goodwin was born April 5, 1944 in Kerens.

Mr. Goodwin is survived by his mother, Thettus Goodwin of Kerens; one son, Bryan Goodwin of Corsicana; one daughter, Karen Griffin of Corsicana; brother, Charles Goodwin of Waco; granddaughgter, McKala Goodwin of Corsicana; grandson Brandon Capehart of Corsicana.

Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by his father, Clyde James Goodwin in 1996.

Laura Mae (Nugent) Holcomb Holleman

Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Mae Nugent Holcomb Holleman, 82, of McGregor, formerly of Malakoff, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday at the Foster & Brown Funeral Home chapel.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6-8 p.m.

Burial will be at the Prairie Point Cemetery in Kerens.

Mrs. Holleman passed away Friday in Clifton.

Mrs. Holleman was a member of the First Methodist Church in Malakoff. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Porter Hubbard Holcomb in 1961, and a son, Robert "Bobby" Leroy Holleman in 1969.

Mrs. Holleman is survived by her husband of 33 years, Leroy Holleman of McGregor; daughters, Kathryn Ann Brown of Palestine; Carolyn Gaye Strickland of Sherman; Linda Wollard of McGregor and Linda Diane McGee of Crawford; sisters, Mary Giles of Greggton and Della Potts of Sulphur Springs; brother, Cecil Nugent of Smithfield; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Irene Dixon, 90, of Magnolia, Arkansas, died Aug. 15 in Magnolia Hospital.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Lewis Chapel, Waldo, Arkansas. Burial will be in the Prairie Point Cemetery in Kerens at 2 p.m. Monday.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt Dixon, parents and three brothers.

Mrs. Dixon was retired as the youth director of the Southside Baptist Church. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waldo and a member of WMF. She was born in Kerens Aug. 2, 1907.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lameta and Bill Sewell of Waldo, Ar.; sister, Dovie Crawford of Pasedena; sister-in-law, Myrl Dixon of Magnolia, Ar., brother-in-law and wife, Johnnie and Elsie Sewell of Magnolia, Ar.; grandson and wife, Steven A. and Susan Sewell of Pineville, La; five great-grandchildren, Stephanie Sewell, Scott Sewell, and Joshua Sewell, all of Pineville, La., and Corrie Mahaffey and Erin Mahaffey, both of Mandiville, La.; nephew and wife, Kenneth and Marilyn Dixon of Magnolia, Ar.; several nieces, nephews and host of friends.

Sam Upchurch, 83, of Kerens died August 13 at Heritage Oaks Nursing Home in Corsicana.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Paschal Funeral Home.

Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Robbins, Rev. L.L. Conner, and Dr. David Hale officiating. Burial will follow at the Prairie Point Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Billy Upchurch, Blair Watt, Gerald Tramel, Foy Brown, Don Blackburn, Luster Ray Tramel, Jerry Crocker and Travis Parrish.

Mr. Upchurch was born May 12, 1914 in Bazette. He was a veteran of WWII. He was retired from Humbel Oil Co. He was a deacon at Bazette Baptist Church for many years.

Mr. Upchurch is survived by his sister, Willie Faye Howell of Ft. Worth and a number of nieces and nephews.

Lee W. Ingram, 77, of Corsicana died Sept. 30 at Columbia Navarro Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. at the M.R. Smith Parlor for Funerals.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Baptist Church with Rev. J.C. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Round Prairie Cemetery in Kerens.

Mr. Ingram was born Jan. 20, 1920 in Freestone County. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Mr. Ingram is survived by his daughters, Lena Faye Owens, Julia Bell Rivers and Rosie Marie McKelvey all of Ft. Worth; brother, James Ingram, Jr., of Midway; sisters, Rosetta Smith of Corsicana and Celestine Favors of Ft. Worth; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; special friend, Mrs. Lonnie Island; and a host of relatives and friends.

Lillian Frances Brahman Scott, 81, of Waco and formerly of Oak Cliff, died at Waco Nursing Center on July 26, 1997.

Mrs. Scott was born Aug. 28, 1915, in Henderson. She was a retired sample maker and master seamstress from Jarrell Inc. of Dallas where she had worked for many years. She loved raising flowers and gardening. She loved her little dog, Skippy. She was raised in Dawson and attended in Dawson schools.

Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her husband, Levi William Scott in 1966.

Mrs. Scott is survived by her three sons, William Richard Scott of Dallas; Douglas Roger Scott of Waco and James Earl Scott of Corpus Christi; one daughter, Rachel Ann Scott Weldon of Oak Cliff; sister, Alyce Willard of Dawson and sister-in-laws Emma Branham of Dawson and Maymie Scott of Wortham.

Cecil Warren Thompson, 71, of Mount Calm, died Sept. 28 at his residence.

Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Wade Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dennis Mott officiating. Burial will follow in the Dawson Cemetery.

Mr. Thompson was born Sept. 10, 1926 in Dawson. He was employed for many years by the City of Cockrell Hill (Dallas County) where he worked as a police officer, water superintendent and also a volunteer fireman. He retired in 1979 and moved to Dawson where he was employed as water superintendent.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Charlene Thompson of Dawson; son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Wanda Cook of Wills Point; two daughters, Lois Cook Piche of Lone Oak and Kathy Cook of Kaufman; two brothers, Donald Thompson of Irving and Doyle Thompson of Houston; two sisters, Marva Farmer of Dawson and Mary Moran of Kerrville; two grandchildren, Justin Cook and Tina Thompson; two great-granddaughters, Ashley and Alexis Renteria; and a host of nieces and nephews.

James Robert Alonzo Turn, 83, of Latexo died Sept. 30 in Crockett.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Resthaven Memorial Park in Corsicana with Rev. E.P. Ramsey officiating.

Mr. Turn was born Oct. 7, 1913 in Brady. He was a resident of Crockett since 1987 and before that in Cedar Creek and Garden Ridge and New Braunfels. He was a graduate of San Angelo High School and attended Texas Tech University on a football scholarship. He was a long time rancher. He retired from managing the Corsicana Country Club with his wife Kay. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Turn is survived by his son, James Robert Turn and wife, Betty of Crockett; brothers, R.P. Turn of San Angelo, Wayne Turn and wife, Helen of San Angelo, Ben Turn and wife, LaNelle of San Angelo, A.J. Turn and wife, Anna Faye of Dallas and Gordon Turn and wife Lois of Austin; sisters, Lealah Clark and husband Bob of San Antonio, and Bonnie Fahey of Beaumont; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

R. L. "Potsy" Butler, 91, of Corsicana, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997.

Visitation will be tonight at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Resthaven Mausoleum with Dr. David Dale Hale officiating.

Mr. Butler was born on July 2, 1906 in Midlothian. He worked for Mobil Oil Corporation for 45 years. In 1957, he was transferred to Corsicana from Sweetwater, and retired here in 1970 as Chief Engineer.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Betty Butler.

Mr. Butler is survived by his wife, Ella Butler of Princeton; daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Randy Dill, and son and daughter-in-law, Dennis C. "Chuck" and Linda Butler, all of Corsicana; son and daughter-in-law Michael L. and Janice Butler of Conroe; six grandchildren, Leah, "Whoa", and Lauren Dill of Corsicana, and Michael, Janna and Julie Butler of Conroe.

Pallbearers will be Whoa Dill, Michael L. Butler, Jr., John Phillips, Dennis Cooper, Dr. Neal Green, and Dr David Campbell.

Howard Chester Beckman, 73, of Corsicana formerly of Keyser, WV, died Saturday, August 9 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Mr. Beckman was born April 21, 1924 in Swanton, MD., the son of Carl and Lillian Newlon Beckman.

He was a retired brakeman/conductor from the B&O Railroad where he worked for 41 years.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Roby Beckman of Corsicana; one daughter, Sherrie Harrell of Corsicana; two sons, John Pase of Keyser, WV., and Carl Beckman of Corsicana; a brother, Carlton Beckman of Cumberland, MD.; four sisters: Shirley Taylor, Marion Rhodes, Rosalie Eves all of Keyser, WV. and Marva Walton of Richmond, VA. He had four grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother Harold and his sister Aurelia Daily.

Mr. Etheredge was retired after many years of service as a deputy Sheriff with the Dallas Sheriffs Department.

Mr. Etheredge is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sue N. Etheredge of Dallas; a daughter, Suzann Hanvy and husband, David; grandchildren, Shawn Hanvy and Patricia Hanvy; aunt and uncle, Julia Gowan and Jack Morris; and a host of other family and friends.

Mr. Vavra is survived by his wife, Vicky Vavra of Granite Shoals; two sons, Timothy Joe Vavra and wife Shelia of Mont Belvieu, and Jeffrey Joe Vavra and wife Jennifer of Analaska; a daughter, Rosemarie Miracle of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Margaret Smith of Corsicana; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Jamison was born July 28, 1917 in Freestone County. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel after 18 years and a retired Corsicana police sergeant after 21 years. He was also retired from a Stephenville security guard at AMPI Cheese Plant. He was Post Master of Corsicana and Winkler Masonic Lodges. He was former president of the Corsicana Police Association.

Mr. Jamison is survived by his wife Lena Jamison of Corsicana; son, Rickey Jamison of Stephenville; daughters, Wanda Benham of Stephenville and Christine Harwell of Corsicana; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Jamison is preceded in death by his first wife, Janette Jamison.

Ms. Waddell was born September 26, 1898. Mrs. Waddell was a descendent of a pioneer Texas and Navarro County family. Her great grandfather, David McCandless was a land commissioner for the Republic of Texas and later the state. He was also a friend and confidant of Sam Houston. Mrs. Waddell graduated from high school in Hubbard and later attended Texas Women's College in Fort Worth, before her marriage to Wilson Waddell in 1920. She and her husband were longtime members of First Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Kinsloe House.

Ms. Waddell is survived by her son Robert W. Waddell and wife, Byron of Corsicana; daughter, Martha Ann Smith and husband, Glen H. Smith of Mineola; thre grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Ms. Waddell is preceded in death by her husband Wilson B. Waddell.

Mr. Middleton was born Oct. 17, 1925 in Athens. He retired in 1978 from being a concrete contractor.

He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the USS Dallas and was a Japanese P.O.W. He was a member of the V.F.W. He was a member of the Thorp Spring First Baptist Church. He moved to Granbury in 1978.

Harold Richard Johnson, 70, of Lawton, Oklahoma, died Friday, June 13, 1997 in San Antonio at the Brooke Army Medical Center.

Mr. Johnson was born Oct. 7, 1926 in Eureka. He was a graduate of Mildred High School. Mr. Johnson was a 30 year Veteran, serving in Germany, Japan, and in Korea. He retired as a Sergeant 1st Class. He owned and operated an appliance service and repair shop in Lawton, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter E. and Elsie Irene Johnson, and a brother Lawrence Johnson.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Alpha Johnson of Lawton; a son, Richard Johnson of Denver, Colorado; three sisters, Doris Collins of Garland, Bettye Fudge of Mesquite, and Linda Robertson of Mesquite; and two brothers, Donald Johnson of Kileen and Doug Johnson of Arlington.

Richard Oglesby, 67, of Corsicana, died March 21, 1997 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas.

Services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Johnson and Michael Bedard officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.

Mr. Oglesby was born in Waxahachie on Nov. 26, 1929. He was retired from the Texas Highway Department.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Oglesby of Corsicana; son, Darron Oglesby of Corsicana; mother, Ruby Oglesby of Waxahachie; two brothers, Jimmy Oglesby of Wolf City and George Oglesby of Midlothian; and three sisters, Lela Alford of Waxahachie, Juanita Holley of Dallas, and Betty Woodard of Midlothian.

Pallbearers will be Brad Woodard, Alex Woodard, Jerry Alford, Mike Oglesby, Marty Oglesby, Melton Oglesby, Stephen Holley, and Brian Holley.

Jimmy Barrett Little, 64, of Trinidad, died Friday June 20, at Tyler.

Graveside services were earlier today at the Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery at Retreat with Rev. Mike Caldwell of Cedar Creek United Methodist Church officiating.

He was born Oct. 6, 1932 at Itasca. He was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army serving at Korea and Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margie Byrd Little of Cedar Creek Lake; a daughter, Sharon Little Scruggs of Dallas; two sons, Peter L. Little of Nashville, Tenn., and Nelson R. Little of Houston; two grandsons, Jason Williams of Dallas and Brent Williams of Dallas; four granddaughters, Katie Williams of Dallas, Courtney Little of Houston, Ashley Little of Killeen and Meredith Little of Killeen and a sister, Phoebe Wester of Houston.

Mr. Talley was born March 24, 1919 in Dresden. He lived most of his life in Corsicana. He served in WWII.

Hattie Jewel Stringer died Friday, Aug. 22 at the Twilight Nursing Home in Corsicana, at the age of 90.

Funeral services for Mrs. Stringer will be under the direction of Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana, in their chapel, today at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Bill Thompson of Trinity Baptist Church of Corsicana officiating. Graveside services will follow immediately after in the Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery in Retreat, just outside of Corsicana.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jeromee Alexander, Jason Bales, Paul Beene, L.N. Lewis, Nelson Scroggins, Brent Courier, and Van Stringer.

Mrs. Stringer was born to Van Manning Lundie and Kattie Mae (Davis) Lundie of Midland on March 23, 1907, one of six children. She married Lert Lonon Stringer on May 24, 1926 and together they had eight children.

Lert and Hattie were former longtime residents of Midland and also spent time in Copperas Cove, Houston and many years in Corsicana. Hattie spent most of her life being a good wife, mother and homemaker to Lert, her children and her grandchildren. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Corsicana where she helped in many of the ladies activities.

Mrs. Stringer was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William Jean "Jack" Lundie; two sisters, Daisy (Lundie) Breeze and Lucille (Lundie) Howell; her husband; two sons, George Edwin Stringer and Timmy Kyle Stringer; a daughter, Minnie Laura Stringer; and an infant granddaughter, Sonja Jewel Stringer.

She is survived by two brothers, Jerome Thomas Lundie of Midland and Edward Lee Lundie of Mountain Park, New Mexico; three daughters, Theresa Jane Dunnan of Colorado Springs, Co., Patsy Marie Lewis of Duarte, California, and Mary Beth Scroggins of Gun Barrel City; two sons, Charles Manning Stringer of Houston and Emmett Moore Stringer of Grants Pass, Oregon; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She will be missed by many loved ones but they know she now rests, in peace and comfort, with those that have gone before her and our Lord God in Heaven.

Breeley Rayne Blissett entered this world for a brief moment and then went to heaven to watch over her mommy, April Blissett, and daddy, David Wagner. Mrs. Walker was born Sept. 19, 1932, in Port Arthur, the daughter of the late Joseph Arthur and Girtie LeBlanc. She passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009. As an infant she moved to Nacogdoches and later attended Stephen F. Austin University. She married Kenneth Wayne Walker in 1951, and he was the perfect joy in her life. He preceded her in death in 2002.Doloris treasured spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed golf, bridge, concerts, art and travel, but mostly grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was active in her children's schools and her church. She volunteered at Navarro Regional Hospital, Meals on Wheels and various other activities. She was dearly loved and is survived by four children, Debbie and husband Charles Hardin, Kenneth Walker Jr., Paula and husband Monte Cain, and Jami and husband Jimmy Kemp; 11 grandchildren, Tiffany and husband Joey Ondrey, Kimberly Castaneda, Kendall Walker, Rachell Walker and Brittany Walker, Amy Cain, Peyton Cain and Audrey Cain, Cameron Kemp, Walker Kemp and McKenzie Kemp; five great-grandsons, Leslie Ondrey, Caleb Ondrey, Julian Ondrey, Gabriel Ondrey and Nate Ondrey. Vade Forrester Harber, 86, WW II veteran and career military, passed away in Corsicana on Thursday morning, April 23, 2009, at Sterling House of Corsicana. Visitation hours will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. A service with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Beverley officiating. Mr. Harber was born in Nugent, Texas on Sept. 13, 1922, to Thelma Fay and Charles Cole Harber. He graduated high school in Calliham, Texas and enlisted with the United States Air Force in October of 1942. He married Ann Butler, his high school sweetheart, in November and soon shipped out to the Pacific for over two years. Vade served 27 active years in the U.S.A.F., three years in the Reserve, and continued to work at Randolph AFB, San Antonio, for 10 years in Civil Service. The Harbers moved to Corsicana in August of 1978 to be near family and enjoyed many years of travel during their retirement. Both are longtime members of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Mr. Harber is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Ann Harber; his loving daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Bill Maupin; and two beloved grandchildren, Kristen McCoy and husband Dr. Dan McCoy of Corsicana, and grandson Matthew Maupin of Dallas. He is also survived by special cousin, Bayly Bartlett of Hurst. He was a retired Corsicana firefighter where he served for 27 years. He was also a member of the Corsicana VFW 3366 where he was a past commander, American Legion Post 22 and the Texas Quarter Horse Association. He is survived by wife, Charlene Dennis of Corsicana; children, Tracy Woodall and husband Justin of Dawson and Ronald Dabney of Corsicana; and grandchildren, Reagan Woodall, Payton Woodall, Beau Woodall all of Dawson. Alice Carr Garrett, 90, of Marble Falls, died April 24, 2009. Born Sept. 20, 1918, in Dale, S.C., Alice was the daughter of Henry and Alice (Springs) Gardner. She was a retired registered nurse. Alice is survived by her daughter, Linda Garrett-Hibler and husband Ronny of Marble Falls; grandsons, Brandon Daugherty and wife Suzy and Jeremy Daugherty and wife Mandy; great-grandchildren, Sam Daugherty, Clara Daugherty, and Ellen Daugherty; daughter-in-law, Sarah Garrett; and other relatives and close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Garrett; and son, Gene Garrett. Memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Samuel E. Alice Garrett of Marble Falls, a former resident of Corsicana for 25 years, passed away on April 24, 2009.

A memorial service will be held at the Kerens Cemetery at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009.

Mrs. Garrett is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ronny Hibler of Marble Falls; two grandsons, Brandon Daugherty and wife Suzy of Evansville, Ind., and Jeremy Daugherty and wife Mandy of Omaha, Neb.; three great grandchildren, Sam, Clara, and Ellen Daugherty of Evansville, Ind.; and one daughter-in-law, Sarah Garrett of Ft. Worth.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Garrett, and son, Gene Garrett.

Hazel Lee (Smith) Parks of Dallas went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 27, 2009. She was born in Navarro, Texas, on Dec. 12, 1923. She was married in 1942 to Thomas Taylor Parks of Navarro. They made a life together in Dallas. She is survived by her two sons, Byron and Neal Parks; brother, Clayton Smith; and nieces and nephews, Cindy McCary of Corsicana, Tim Smith of Lindale, David Smith of Mansfield, Sherry Warner of Austin, and Vicky Connors and Tammy Meadows from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Thomas Taylor Parks; her parents, Elmer and Bessie Smith; and brother, Afton Smith. Hazel spent her early years raising her two boys and playing the organ and piano at North Temple Baptist Church for Pastor C.E. Colton. She was a charter member, later moving with her pastor to Royal Haven Baptist Church. She was also a member of The Hammond Organ Club. In the mid-'90s, she retired from a full-time position as pianist at Royal Haven after 50 years of service in church music ministry. She then volunteered her services to her church for her beloved 39ers Christian group and with help, constructed 12 beautiful banners. As she looked back over her career of church work, weddings, funerals, and accompanying soloists and groups too numerous to mention, her most prized joy was that all of the family members mentioned above have been involved with work for "The Lord." They've preached, taught Sunday school, followed in her footsteps by playing piano and or organ, arranged church music, played in church bands, and even worked "sound." Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Restland in Room AB. The funeral with be 10 a.m. Thursday at Royal Haven Baptist Church. The interment will be held at Hopewell Cemetery in Navarro. Carol June Sanford went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, April 28, 2009. She was born on Aug. 13, 1929, to Ivory D. McCollum and Fannie G. Green. She worked for U-Brand factory in Ashland, Ohio, for over 20 years and was past vice president and committee member of the IAM Local Lodge No. 1556 and vice president and chairperson of picnics and holiday parties. She married James Sanford and she moved to West Salem, Ohio, in the early 1970s. They were married for 32 years before she lost the love of her life in 2003. They were avid and lifetime member of the Am Vets Post No. 149. She also loved her Irish heritage so much that she celebrated St. Patrick's Day more than any other holiday. She moved to Texas in 2003 to live out the rest of her days. She enjoyed swimming in the pool, sitting on the porch and petting all the animals on her son's ranch. She is survived by her son, Kim Boales and wife Val of Corsicana; daughter, Debbie Hecker and son-in-law Jack of Moon Township, Pa.; daughter, Rhonda Stamford Gray and son-in-law Randy of Riverside, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be a visitation held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 1, at Matteson Funeral Home Chapel in West Salem, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband Vinson "Pops" Biddy five years earlier. All family and friends are now resting assured that they are now happily reunited and smiling again. Billie Marie was a longtime lover of animals and nature. She was also very devoted to her family. She is survived by her four children, Vinson Biddy and wife Connie of Gila Bend, Ariz., Billie McKenzie and husband Roger of Phenix City, Ala., Etta Meccarillo and husband Clemente of Blooming Grove, James Biddy and wife Charlotte of Kerens. Billie Marie is also survived by four grandchildren, Vinson Biddy III of Henderson, Nev., Constance Biddy of Gila Bend, Ariz., Kristen Biddy of Kerens and C.J. Meccarillo of Blooming Grove. Welton A. "Pete" Reed, our beloved father, grandfather, and friend, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers will host a gathering of family and friends to remember his life of 84 years this evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Reverend John Ballard will lead the family in celebrating his life during a graveside service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Resthaven Memorial Park. Welton was born on September 24, 1924, in Barry, Texas to Marvin and Billie Bralley Reed. He graduated from Barry High School. He then served his country in the United State Army during World War II. He married Earlene Carol Rhodes, April 2, 1946 in Corsicana, Texas. Pete graduated from Navarro Junior College and earned a bachelor's degree in agriculture from Texas Tech University. Pete was employed as agent with Allstate Insurance Company for 38 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Downtown Bible Class, and the American Legion. He is survived by his daughter, Shocky Peak and spouse Butch of Lubbock; grandchildren, Shane Bowers and spouse Paula of Lubbock, Paige Eichman of Lubbock, and Leah Bowers of New Braunsfels; three great-granddaughters, Raven Stapleton, Emma and Annabelle Eichman of Lubbock. Doris Cordelia Gee, 87, formerly of Rowlett, Texas, and Idyllwild, Calif., passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Woodland Park Health Care Center in Shepherd after a long illness. Doris was born on June 13, 1921 in Rockdale to the late Ernest W. and Mabel C. (Cherry) Gee. She entered the U.S. Air Force in July of 1943 as a Women's Air Force Service Pilot (WASP), and served for 18 months during World War II. She subsequently worked for Continental Airlines training pilots for several years. She retired as a Realtor in Idyllwild, Calif., and returned to live in her beloved Texas. Doris is survived by her nephews, Travis L. Gee and wife Susan of Wisconsin and William E. Gee of Florida; niece, Gareth A. Downey of California; and dear friends, Jeff and Brenda Langham of Shepherd. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Alfred T. Gee; and lifelong friend and companion, Mary Jane Langham. Mary Catherine (Ponder) Stockard

Mary Catherine Ponder Stockard departed this life on May 2, 2009 to the presence of the Lord.

Catherine was the third child, the second daughter, born to William Freeman Ponder Sr. and Nannie Gray Albritton Ponder on Dec. 18, 1917 in Frost. She had two brothers, “Bill” Freeman Ponder Jr., and David Ponder, who preceded her in death. She has four sisters; Norine Ponder, Gay Wright, Elizabeth Froese, and Robbie Elmore; two sisters-in-law, Ava Nell Ponder and Ann Ponder; and one brother-in-law, Harold Elmore. Also, she has many nieces and nephews surviving.

She graduated from Frost High School and Baylor University. Catherine accepted the Lord as her personal Savior in August 1928 at a revival meeting at the Frost Baptist Church. She moved to Dallas in 1941 where she worked and was married. She lived in Corsicana during the time that her husband was overseas in W.W. II and where their first child Sharon was born. They moved to Fort Worth in 1948 where Nan was born. They moved with their two daughters to Burnet in 1950 when her husband accepted the pastorate of the Bible Baptist Church and where their son David was born and then moved back to Fort Worth in 1952 where Jonathan was born. They moved to Graham in January 1955 when her husband accepted the pastorate of Morningside Baptist Church. They lived there until 1986 when they moved to Palestine. In August 2007 she and her husband moved to Corsicana.

Catherine was married to Buford Collins Stockard for 66 years. They were married in Dallas at Central Baptist Church on July 3, 1942 by Dr. Luther C. Peak. She is survived by her husband, Buford; two daughters and two sons and their spouses, Sharon Stockard Cearley and husband Jerry, Nan Stockard, David Stockard and wife Linda, and Jonathan Stockard and wife Lisa; nine grandchildren and spouses, Brendon Cearley and Natalie, Holly Baldwin and Frank, Melissa, David Jr. and Angela Stockard, and Erika, Emily, Ethan, and Evann Stockard; five great grandchildren, Adam, Hailey, and Lucy Cearley, and Ava and Luke Baldwin.

Catherine was always a very busy pastor's wife during the years at Burnet and Graham. She was a gifted teacher of the Bible. She taught Sunday School for many years and helped out in church playing the piano when needed, and taught in a Christian School in Graham.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home with her sons, David Stockard and Jonathan Stockard officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana.

Pallbearers will be David Stockard, Jonathan Stockard, David Stockard Jr., Brenden Cearley, Frank Baldwin and Harold Elmore.

Nora Agnes Slaughter, 98, of Corsicana, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2009, at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village. Mrs. Slaughter was born Dec. 2, 1910, in Purdon to Thomas M. York and Milliey Elvira York. She married Edward L. Slaughter on March 28, 1930, in Waco and raised four children. Her passion in life was taking care of her family and cooking. Her favorite and most cherished time was having family and friends for Sunday dinner. You only had to mention how much you loved one of her special dishes, and you would have it for dinner the very next Sunday. She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, her husband, Edward L. Slaughter in 1996, and her granddaughter, Nina Slaughter in 1977.She is survived by two sons, Ralph Slaughter and wife Carolyn of Buffalo and Herbert Slaughter and wife Imogene of Athens; two daughters, Betty Wright and husband J.D. of Corsicana and Tommie Rogers and husband Jimmy of Mabank; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Barham was born April 19, 1910, in Blooming Grove and was a life time resident. He resided in the Lancaster Park Nursing Home for the last three years. He was self-employed as a truck driver and a house mover.

He is survived by his daughter, Clara Barham of Blooming Grove; his brother, Bill Barham of Blooming Grove; and his eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Janette Sutton, 68, longtime resident of Frost, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009, in her home after a long battle with lung cancer. She was embraced by her family as she peacefully joined her loving husband, Jessie, in heaven. Janette was born May 14, 1940, in Pulaski, Tenn., to Charlie and Eunice Hall. Janette was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Lee Sutton, on Dec. 3, 2005.She is survived by her stepmother, Lorene Hall of Lewisburg, Tenn.; sisters, Liz Coker and husband Andy of Austin and Virginia Kling and husband Myron of Royse City; brother, Kenneth Hall and wife Ann of Cedar Hill; children, Edwin Dyer and wife Joyce of Frost, Johnny Sutton of Frost, and Sherry Gongora and fiancé Jack Leblond of Pflugerville; stepdaughter, Marla Foster and husband Eddie of Forney; stepson, Alvin Sutton of Dallas; grandchildren, Jeffrey Dyer and wife Rachael, Jonathon Dyer and wife Samantha, Nicole and Shelby Gongora, Ashley and Colton Sutton, and Jessica and Dakota Sykes; great-grandchildren, Cameron Dyer, Piper Dyer, Breelyn Dyer and Wyatt Dyer; and amazing best friend, Peggy Adams of Frost. LaKisha Nicole Jackson Allen, 32, was born March 30, 1977 in Dallas. A precious bundle of joy bestowed upon us by God, as parents, our only child, Nathaniel and Bobbie Jackson in the year of 1979. She departed this life April 30, 2009 in Houston. She attended Corsicana High School through the 12th grade, and received her G.E.D. from Navarro College. She also attended Dallas Mortuary Institute in Dallas, Navarro College, and was presently enrolled in Cosmetology College in Houston. LaKisha was a substitute teacher at Two Dimension Preparatory Academy occasionally, and also a teacher's aide in the CISD for several years. She also worked at Ross and Johnson Mortuary. LaKisha was baptized and united with the Love Chapel Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Pastor William Boulden. She was a faithful and devoted member. God Blessed her to be talented and gifted and she served faithfully in many ministries of the church, including Youth Director, choir director and member of the choir ministry, and Sunday teacher, and was also active in the Harmony District Association and Congress. LaKisha was also the founder and director of the Spiritual Inspirations of Family Love Praise Dance Ministry. She met and married Vertrain Allen and to this union one daughter was born. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Hubert Bailey. LaKisha was a loving and devoted Christian mother and family oriented. She leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters, Tambre'shia Jackson, Sheree Brackens and Unique Allen; one son, Hezekiah "Hubert Lee" Jackson, all of Corsicana; parents, Nathaniel and Bobbie Jackson of Corsicana; sister, Tiffany Sneed of Dallas; two brothers, Nathaniel Bates of Tyler and Brian Bates of Corsicana; grandfather, John L. Brown of Fort Worth; grandmothers, Robbie "Nanny" Bailey of Corsicana, and Letha Thomas of Dallas; and a supportive and dedicated aunt, Robbie Nell Carr of Dallas; a host of other relatives and friends including Coley Calhoun of Houston, and the Love Chapel Church Family. Fairace Aubrey Thompson, age 87, of Italy, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie. He was born April 17, 1922, in Brushie Prairie to Robert B. and Carrie (Lindsay) Thompson. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army Air Force and was a 50-year Mason. Aubrey was a deacon of First Baptist Church in Italy for 25 years. He was a faithful husband and friend and a longtime servant of God, who loved his family and loved to ride horses. Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Thompson of Italy; two brothers-in-law, Earl Max Neel of Weatherford and Odell Kelley of Italy; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 11, at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Italy with the Rev. Elna Marie (Jensen) Curry

Elna Marie Jensen Curry was born on Jan. 17, 1921, in Danevang, Texas, to Jens Christian and Ana Johanna Jensen and died on Friday, May 1, 2009, in Austin. She was the youngest of seven children and is survived by one brother, Roy Jensen of Bay City. She graduated from Blessing High School as valedictorian in 1938. Elna had a distinguished career serving the federal government for 40 years; first, in the War Department during World War II, then as postmaster in Roane and finally retiring from the Social Security Administration in 1987. She was very proud of her Danish heritage. Her parents were born in Denmark and came to America in the 1800s. On her first trip to Denmark, she and her daughters visited both of her parents' birth places and researched their ancestry. That trip was one of a lifetime. She was a member of the Tune and Fork Travel Club and the American Business Women's Association. Elna's faith and church family have sustained her all of her life. She was confirmed as an adult and joined Faith Lutheran Church in Corsicana in 1951. She was a founding member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League in Corsicana and was an active member of the church throughout most of her life. Elna was preceded in death by her husband, Philip R. Curry in 1957. She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Duncan and husband Joe of Corsicana and Katherine Anne Hopkins and husband David of Austin. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kristina Buettner and husband Brett of Austin and Joe P. Duncan and wife Charlotte of Garland, and her extended family, Marcena Peterson and husband Paul of California and Heidi Hopkins of Hawaii. Her great-grandchildren are Mason, Nixie Jane and Holden Buettner, Joe Clyde and Sean Duncan, Rayanne, Dylan, and Kamren Thompson, and Soren and Sebastian Peterson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Our family wishes to thank Dr. Fry and the staff at Buckner Villas for their love and immeasurable care. Mr. Earnest Daniel Parsons, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, succumbed to his battle with cancer and slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God on May 9, 2009.Friend to all and enemy to none, Daniel was born on May 8, 1933 in Van Zandt County and spent his life outdoors and on the open road. He grew up working in the cotton fields as a day laborer, where he harvested a love for growing and working the land. He later served in the US Air Force, stationed in Alaska. Upon his return to Texas, he began a long career as a truck driver, which enabled him to travel throughout the country and form lasting friendships. At home, he cherished working his own land, tending to his animals, attending auctions, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. Though he is no longer in our arms, Papaw will remain forever in our hearts. Mr. Parsons was preceded in death by a son Randy Hunnicutt; parents Charlie and Maudie Lee Parsons, and brothers; Kenneth and Robert Parsons. He is survived by his wife, Margie Parsons of Silver City; grandson Chad Hunnicutt and wife Tami of Silver City; granddaughter Christin Phillips and husband Jacob of Tomball; and a big host of other family and friends. Willard Summerall
Willard Summerall was born on Oct. 3, 1916 in Houston, Miss. Willard came to Texas in a covered wagon when he was 3 years old. His family included seven brothers and sisters — Grady, Melinda, Stan, Tince and surviving sisters Sybil Bates and Joyce Duke. The family first settled in Kerens and later in Tool. His father opened a grocery store when they moved to Corsicana. Willard remembered helping out by delivering groceries. His first job was working for Dr. Pepper. Later he worked for the NeHi Bottling Company. Willard was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific theatre. He married Lillie Gertrude Humphries in 1941 and they had two children, Betty Ann and nine years later Gary. In 1948 Willard started his own company Summerall-Beauchamp Wholesale Drug. He started right in his own garage. It serviced local food stores with needed items for 50 years all over central Texas. The business was sold in 1998. Willard loved to bird hunt, fish and to raise cattle. In 1956, along with some other individuals, they bought the Richland Bank, which became Corsicana National Bank and Trust. After the death of his first wife, Trudy he married Cloie Farmer in December of 2000. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife Trudy Summerall and Cloie Summerall. He is survived by his daughter Betty Ann and Hartley Young and son Gary and Marty Summerall of Corsicana. He has received much love and support from Betty and Hartley's girls, Julie and Adan Casas, sons Kyle and Ryan and Cheryl and Brett Blanton, son Jack and daughters Claire and Samantha. And Marty and Gary's son Scott I and grandson Scott II. We want to thank Beverly Baisy, Hand and Hospice, Santana Ovalle, Angels at Home and many others for his care during this time in his life. Visitation will be Monday at the Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial service will be Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at First Baptist Church at 3 p.m., with Rev. B. F. Risinger Jr., and Dr. David Edwards officiating. Clydell "Pete" Allred went home to be with the Lord on Mother's Day, May 10, 2009. After nearly three years of battling cancer, she got the victory. She is now in heaven with a new body that is whole and cancer free. She was born April 26, 1932. She was a lifelong resident of Corsicana. She married the love of her life, Floyd Earl Allred, and had three children, two grandsons and three great-grandchildren. She was a housewife and wonderful mother. She loved to take care of the house and cook for her family. She also loved to decorate. She loved decorating her house as well as others. She especially loved decorating the church for all occasions, especially at Christmas. She was a member of House of Praise Church of God and a mighty prayer warrior. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Earl Allred; son, Mickey Allred; grandson, Bryan Franklin; parents, Clyde and Lucille Gunter; and sister, Dorothy Oliphant. He worked at oil fields in Texas, owned two service stations, and retired from Methodist Hospital as its locksmith. He was a member of "That Binds Bible Study Group" at Second Baptist Church West campus. Glyn was preceded in death by a sister, Opal; brother, Miller; and his son, Jimmy Norwood. Glyn is survived by his wife of 69 years, Georgia Norwood; sister, Mary Richards; daughter, Glynnelle Jones and husband Jerry; granddaughter, Robbie Bronstein and husband Rick; grandson, Kyle Jones and wife Kelly; great-grandchildren, Blake and Bailey Bronstein; and many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Edwards was born Feb. 7, 1914, in Fairfield. She graduated from Kirvin High School. Mrs. Edwards attended nursing school at P&S Hospital in Corsicana. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church since 1973.

Mrs. Edwards is survived by her sisters, Letha Richardson of Streetman, Inez Carter of Wortham and Lula Bell Grizzard of Streetman; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents,

Mrs. Caraway was born Aug. 5, 1944, in Dawson to John and Minnie Peterson. She was a graduate of Dawson schools, worked at Texas Instruments in Dallas for many years, before moving to Belton. Mrs. Caraway was a member of the First Methodist Church in Belton. In spite of her illness which often meant a long stay in the hospital, she kept a loving spirit and will be missed by a host of friends.

She is survived by her son, Larry W. and Melody Caraway of Dallas; daughter, Barbara Diane Caraway of Belton; grandson, Jared Caraway of Dallas; mother, Minnie Peterson of Belton; brothers, John Peterson of Duncanville and Billy R. Peterson of Kaufman; sisters, Betty Huddleston of Everman and Katheryn Boren of Belton.

Mrs. Billingsley was born June 26, 1925, in Oakwood. She had been a nurse for Home Health Care and retired in 1976 after 20 years of service. Mrs. Billingsley was a member of Wynnton Hill Baptist Church in Columbus, Ga. She was a resident of Fort Worth since Dec. of 1995.
