Graduate of Jackson High School. Entered the service, June 3, 1943,
training at Camp Wolters, Texas, and various other camps in U.S.A. Served
in England, France, and Germany with the 3rd Army Hdqts., Battery 351 Field Art.

Attended Emhouse School. Enlisted in the Navy Sept 11, 1944, training at
San Diego, Calif. Served on the USS Burleigh APA 95 in the South Pacific.
Discharged March 10, 1946. Re-enlisted and served until retirement.
Husband of the former Gladys Benavides of Dallas.

at San Diego and Mare Island, Calif, Portsmouth, Va. Served at MOB
Hospital No 3 in Pago Pago, Samoa, Espiritu Santo, Hebrides. Served at
Naval Hospital, New Orleans, La. Assigned to duty aboard USS Gypsy, sent to
Honolulu in Naval Dispensary. Discharged Feb. 1949.

Sgt. Lawson L. Wade, who went overseas April 1, 1943 with the 36th Div., was
captured Sept. 14, 1943 at Salerno. He was liberated from the German Camp
by the Russians. Married to Louise Wade.

TOM C. WALDROP
A.R.T. 1/C Tom C. Waldrop, son of Gilbert Coleman and Camilla Butler Waldrop.
Entered the U.S. Navy in Feb. 1943. After 11 months of training in Radio
and Radar schools, he was assigned to 7th Fleet Unit on Los Negros in the
Admiralty Island group, providing carrier replacement planes for Gen. Douglas
MacArthur's return to the Philippines. Joined a mobile school unit that
traveled over the S. Pacific, teaching operation and maint. of advanced types of
radio, radar, navigation equipment to carrier flight crews. Was on Saipan
where the war ended. Discharged in 1946.Notes:

Pentagon, Washington DC, and 103rd Military Gov't Group. Discharged from active
duty Feb. 21, 1946. Served in the Reserves until Oct. 26, 1964.

duties with the Navy Dept. Bureau of Ships in Washington D.C. and New York.

remained in the Naval Reserve. Recalled to active duty assigned to Supervisor of
Shipbuilding, Quincy, Mass. Placed on Retired List Nov. 22, 1974 as Lt. Cmdr.
