T/5 Cpl. Rufus Venters, son of Mrs. Ida Mae Livingston, of Corsicana.  Graduate of  Jackson High School.  Entered the service, June 3, 1943, training at Camp Wolters, Texas, and various other camps in U.S.A.  Served in England, France, and Germany with the 3rd Army Hdqts., Battery 351 Field Art.

JAMES A. VYERS
BM 3/C James A. Vyers, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Vyers of Emhouse.  Attended Emhouse School.  Enlisted in the Navy Sept 11, 1944, training at San Diego, Calif.  Served on the USS Burleigh APA 95 in the South Pacific.  Discharged March 10, 1946.  Re-enlisted and served until retirement.  Husband of the former Gladys Benavides of Dallas.

Vyers of Emhouse.  Attended Emhouse  School.  Enlisted in the Navy August 1942, training at San Diego and Mare Island, Calif, Portsmouth, Va.  Served at MOB Hospital No 3 in Pago Pago, Samoa, Espiritu Santo, Hebrides.  Served at Naval Hospital, New Orleans, La. Assigned to duty aboard USS Gypsy, sent to Honolulu in Naval Dispensary.  Discharged Feb. 1949.

L. L. WADE
Sgt. Lawson L. Wade, who went overseas April 1, 1943 with the 36th Div., was captured Sept. 14, 1943 at Salerno.  He was liberated from the German Camp by the Russians.  Married to Louise Wade.

Othello Wadley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bowden Wadley.  Served in the U.S. Navy.  His service record ended when U.S.S. Battleship was destroyed.

WARNELL WADLEY
Pvt. Warnell Wadley, 7th Co., T. 1077, 2nd Battalion, son of Mrs. Hassie Wadley of Corsicana.  Entered service May 7, 1945, training at Camp Lee, Virginia. Attended Richland  School.

TOM C. WALDROP
A.R.T. 1/C Tom C. Waldrop, son of Gilbert Coleman and Camilla Butler Waldrop.  Entered the U.S. Navy in Feb. 1943.  After 11 months of training in Radio and Radar schools, he was assigned to 7th Fleet Unit on Los Negros in the Admiralty Island group, providing carrier replacement planes for Gen. Douglas MacArthur's return to the Philippines.  Joined a mobile school unit that traveled over the S. Pacific, teaching operation and maint. of advanced types of radio, radar, navigation equipment to carrier flight crews.  Was on Saipan where the war ended. Discharged in 1946.

Sgt. L. L. Wallace, Co. B. Replacement Bn. Camp Beal, Calif., son of Mrs. M. E. Lockett of Corsicana.  Graduate of Solomon Coles High School, Corpus Christi, also Prairie View College.
CARL F. WARD
S/Sgt. Carl F. Ward, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank D. Ward of Sedan, Kans.  Married to Normadyne Ward of Sedan Kansas.  Grandson of Mrs. E. A. Keller of Corsicana.  Served in the USAAF, veteran of 63 combat missions as an aerial gunner on an A-20 Havoc attack bomber in the Southwest Pacific area.
DOUGLAS WARD
Pvt. Douglas Ward, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Ward of Kerens.  Attended Navarro Co. Training School, Kerens.  Entered the Army Dec. 7, 1943, training at Camp Wolters, and Camp Claiborne, La. Served in Europe.

GEORGE R. WARD
Pvt. George R. Ward, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar L. Ward of Corsicana.  Graduate of Corsicana High School in 1942, entered service in July 1943, going overseas in Oct. 1944 with the U.S. Army Inf. Wounded in action in Belgium. Awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge for "Exemplary conduct in action against the enemy."

Sgt. Roy Ward, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Ward entered service March 4, 1942 in the Air Force, training at Minter Field, Calif. Stationed in Marana, Ariz. Received Good Conduct Medal.
WILLIE WARD
Pfc. Willie Ward, son of David Sr. and Annett Keith Ward.  Husband of Pansy Ward.  Attended Navarro Co. School.  Entered service 1943, training in Louisiana and Norfolk, Virginia. Served overseas with the N. Hull Eng. in France.

Warren, George Inman (Buster)
S/Sgt. George Inman (Buster) Warren, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Warren of Frost. Husband of the Former Mary Hill Stevenson of Frost. Graduate of Blooming Grove High School and attended N. T. S. T. C. Denton. Inducted into the Army Air Force in October 1940, training at Kelly Field San Antonio and Pecos Air Field. Received American Defense Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. Discharged Oct 5, 1945.

C. S. Carl T. Warrington entered service on July 7, 1942, training at Norfolk, Virginia. Served at Iowa State College, Ames, Iowa, and on the islands in the South Pacific area.  Discharged Oct. 1, 1945.

Lt. Col James M. Wassell, AUS-R, graduate of Corsicana High School, commissioned 2nd Lt. 260th CA (AA) Regt. inducted in AUS Jan. 6, 1941, stationed at Ft. Bliss, Texas. Served in the Alaska Defense Command, Pacific order of Battle, Pentagon, Washington DC, and 103rd Military Gov't Group. Discharged from active duty Feb. 21, 1946. Served in the Reserves until Oct. 26, 1964.

Ens. John W. Wassell was commissioned USNR on July 23, 1942. Assigned various duties with the Navy Dept. Bureau of Ships in Washington D.C. and New York. Transferred to Armed Guard Serv. Feb. 20, 1945. Discharged Jan. 17, 1946 but remained in the Naval Reserve. Recalled to active duty assigned to Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Quincy, Mass. Placed on Retired List Nov. 22, 1974 as Lt. Cmdr.

Received American Theater Campaign Ribbon, European Theater operation Ribbon, Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Ribbon - Germany, 1 Overseas Bar. Honorably discharged July 24, 1946.
