Joseph Thomas, son of Henry Thomas &
Martha Jane (Thomas) Williams, was born 28 December 1871 in Arkansas. He was married to Alice Zelina McAfee, daughter of Charles Renow & Cecila Ann (Terry) McAfee, on 18 September 1890 in Navarro County, Texas by
Rev. James Campbell Osborne. Joseph Thomas'
brother, James Sampson Williams "Samp", married Alice's sister, Della Caldonia McAfee. Joe served as a
marshal in Frost and later was a jailer in
Corsicana. He died on April 20,
1930 at the County Hospital in Corsicana, Texas. Alice was born 19 August 1872 in Arkansas and died at the Corsicana P & S
Hospital on 25 June 1952. Joe and Alice are buried in the
Prairie Grove Cemetery, Emmett, Navarro County, Texas.

BURIED MONDAY EMMETT CEMETERY
Joe T. Williams, aged 59, native of Arkansas, but resident of
Navarro County practically all of his life, died in the Navarro
County Hospital Sunday night at 11:45 o'clock following a
lingering illness and the funeral was held Monday afternoon at
3:30 o'clock from the Emmett Baptist Church with interment in
the Emmett cemetery. The funeral cortege left the Corley-McMahon
Funeral Home at 2 o'clock.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. Howard Williams,
pastor of the First Baptist church here.
Mr. Williams lived in the Emmett community for many years, but
has resided in Corsicana during the past several years, being a
member of the Corsicana police department at one time.
Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Jim Skinner, Purdon;
Mrs. C. A. Ellington and Mrs. R. L. Milton, both of Corsicana;
three sons, Spurgeon, Henry and Reno Williams, all of Corsicana;
a number of grandchildren; one brother,

Corsicana; one sister, Mrs.
Cale Green, Frost, and other relatives. |

CORSICANA, Texas, April 21 - Joe T. Williams, 59, resident of
Navarro Cunty practically all of his life, died in a local
hospital Sunday night. The funeral was held Monday
with burial in the Emmett Cemetery. Surviving are his wife,
three daughters, Mrs. Jim Skinner of Purdon, Mrs. C. A.
Ellington and Mrs. R. L. Milton of Corsicana; three sons,
Spurgeon, Henry and Reno Williams all of Corsicana; several
grandchildren, one brother, Samp Williams, Corsicana; one
sister, Mrs. Cale Green, Frost.

Rites Thursday Funeral services for Mrs.
Alice Z. McAfee Williams, 79, who died at the P. and S. Hospital
Wednesday morning, were held at 3:30 P.M. Thursday from the
Corley Chapel.
The rites were conducted by Rev. Riley E. D5ale, pastor of the
Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in the Emmett cemetery.
A native of Arkansas, Mrs. Williams resided in the Emmett and Frost
communities for many years before moving to Corsicana more than
25 years ago. She was the widow of the late Joe T. Williams,
former Frost Marshall and Corsicana city jailer for a number of
years.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. J. D. Skinner and Mrs. W. C.
Watson, both of Corsicana, and Mrs. R. J. Cox, Fort Worth; two
sons, J. H. and C. R. Williams, both of Corsicana; 21
grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Jim
Shelton, Frost, and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Ermal Charles, D. R. Wallace, Glenn Womack, I. C.
Pool, E. A. Bennett, and Terry Powers. |

Mrs. Williams Dies Wednesday
Mrs. Alice Z. McAfee Williams, 79, long-time Navarro county resident,
died at the P. and S. Hospital Wednesday morning.
Funeral services will be held from the Corley Chapel at 3:30 p.m.
Thursday with burial in the Emmett Cemetery.
Native of Arkansas, Mrs. Williams spent most of her life in Navarro
county residing in the Emmett and Frost communities for many years
before moving to Corsicana more than 25 years ago.
She was the widow of the late Joe. T. Williams, former Frost officer and
Corsicana city jailer for years.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. J. D. Skinner and Mrs. W. C. Watson,
both of Corsicana, and Mrs. R. J. Cox, Fort Worth; two sons, J. H. and
C. R. Williams, both of Corsicana; 21 grandchildren, 17 great
grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Jim Shelton, Frost and a number of other

CORSICANA - June 26 (spl) Funeral services were held here Thursday for
Mrs. Alice Z. McAfee Williams, 79, long-time Navarro County resident who
died Wednesday morning in a Corsicana hospital. She was buried in the
Emmett Cemetery.
Mrs. Williams, widow of Joe T. Williams, lived at Emmett and Frost for
many years before moving to Corsicana more than 25 years ago.
Surviving are three daughters, Mmes. J. D. Skinner and W. C. Watson of
