Warren Curtis Henthorn

Curtis Henthorn, 70, of Purdon, died at Navarro Regional Hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home with Walter Stevenson and O. E. Permenter officiating. Burial will be in Younger Cemetery.

He retired from the City of Corsicana.

Survivors include his wife Imogene York Henthorn of Purdon; one son Don Henthorn of Purdon; one daughter, Barbara McCraw of Corsicana; two brothers, Clifford Henthorn of Corsicana and James Henthorn of Itaska; five sisters Dot Helton of Hillsboro, Gladys Adams of Frost, Opal Bratcher of Mertens, Ruby Robinson of Howton, and Margie Nixon of Joplin, MO; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Thompson, Glen Bratcher, Leon Helton, H. B.

Carrington, Jack Conger and James Henthorn.

Wilma Scott
Wilma Hodges Scott was born in Meridian, Mississipi on January 23, 1912 to Jim Allen and Bessie Clay Hodges. She passed away on September 15, 2007 in Lockhart, Texas at the age of 95 years, 7 months and 23 days. Service is scheduled for Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Frost with Gary Rodgers officiating and burial in the Frost Cemetery. At the age of 5, Wilma and the Hodges family moved to Texas and she was raised in the Slay community. In 1934, she married Theo Scott of Frost, Texas and most of their married life was spent in Frost. They did move to Lubbock, Texas in 1961, but returned to Frost in 1970. Theo passed away in 1981 and in March 1983, Wilma moved to Lockhart and remained their until her death. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Theo Scott, son John M. Scott, brothers - Otis, Kiah, Therrell and Fred Hodges, sisters - Maybell Webb, Inez Tidwell and Louise Wilbanks. Wilma is survived by her daughter Sue Galle and husband Lowe of Lockhart, Texas; 4 grandchildren - Cynthia Scott Ellis and husband Wayne of Bullard, Texas, Angela Scott Newland and husband Danny of Corsicana, Texas, Greg Galle and wife Anybe of Austin, Texas, Karla Galle Tate and husband Michael of Lockhart, Texas; 5 great-grandchildren: Rebekkah Newland, Courtney Sanders, Nichole Galle, Mark Tate, Julie Tate; 2 great-great grandchildren - Mason and Luke Sanders; 2 brothers - Frank Hodges and wife Wanda of Lubbock, Texas and Donald Hodges of Temple, Texas and a number of nieces and nephews.

Brooks Wheeler
Brooks Wheeler, resident of the Tupelo-Chatfield area, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at his residence at the age of 68 years. He was born in the Tupelo Community on January 1, 1939 to Ralph Wheeler and Gordie Gorman Wheeler. Brooks is retired from Otis Engineering after 37 years, working as a safety inspector. He was an Associate Member of the Petroleum Engineers. An avid outdoors man, he loved to fish and hunt and raise cattle. He worked with his father at times making cabinets. Brooks is survived by his wife Lue Wheeler of Tupelo-Chatfield. Son and daughter-in-law: Greg Wheeler and wife Karen of Allen. Grandchildren: Cody Wheeler and Karli Wheeler. Sister: Lee Szenasy and husband Charlie of Duncan, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 ? 8:00 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chatfield United Methodist Church with Rev. Harold Braddick officiating. Burial will follow at the New Chatfield Cemetery.


Zack Wilkerson Boyd

Mr. Zack Boyd, 87, of Texas City and formerly of Corsicana passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2007 in Texas City. He was born on December 27, 1919 in Eureka, Texas.
He was a gaduate of Mildred High School. A veteran of World War II in the Army Air Corp. He worked for Stewart Motor Company from 1947 until he retired. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, and was an avid golfer & fisherman.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Lang, Tom Sullivan, Paul Stewart, Bobby Grantham, Duane Nutt, and Mark Boyd. Honorary Pallbearers will be H. D. Wyatt and Maco Stewart.

Mr. Boyd is survived by his Wife of 65 years, Eula Mae Boyd, Daughter & Son-in-Law, Robbie & Philip Tharp, III, Sister, Mary Ellen Grantham, Brother, Walter Boyd.

Mildred Louise Miller

Mrs. Mildred McGinnis Chapman Miller, 84, of Corsicana passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2007 in Garland, Texas. She was born on August 8, 1923 in Hubbard, Texas.

She was raised in Hubbard, and married her childhood sweetheart, Frank V. Chapman, Jr. She was a minister's wife and raised four kids. She was a member of the Baptist church, and was an active part of the church operations. She worked at the Ideal Theatre while her husband was serving his country. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. She was a homemaker, and a very loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at the Corley Funeral Chapel with Dr. Darin Wood and Rev. Richard Ham officiating. Interment will follow in the Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Owens, Terry Jacobs, Brent Chapman, Al Aranda, Eric Chapman, and Lyn Winstead. Letha Almond Adams, resident of Corsicana, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at her residence at the age of 86 years. She was born on December 21, 1920. Letha was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who enjoyed her family, friends, church, teaching her Sunday School Class, cooking, flower gardening, reading, and vacation times. She was a Charter Member of Trinity Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School.

She was preceded in death by her parents James Leroy and Mattie Almond. Sister: Lometta Tanner. Brothers: Alfred Almond, James Almond, Alton Almond, Leroy Almond, Bobby Almond, and Merle Almond.

Survivors include her husband, the love of her life, of 68 years Truman Adams of Corsicana. Daughter: Dot Burns and husband Marvin of Corsicana. Son: Don Adams of Corsicana. Grandson: Mike Adams of Corsicana. Granddaughter: Lisa and Chuck Burns of Corsicana. Great grandchildren: Mark Burns, Matthew Burns, Trae Adams, Melanie Fields, Brooke Adams, and Bethany Burns. Brothers: Charlie Almond of Carrollton and Clyde Almond and wife Betty of Sherman. Sisters: Leona Wheeler of Midlothian and Wanda Durden of Dallas. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, taking care of her flowers and cooking for her loved ones. She is survived by sons Talbert Casey Jr. and wife Jean, Douglas Casey and wife Sue. Daughters Lera Wren and husband Billy, Barbara Nell Sartor and husband Terry. Daughter in law Charlcie Casey. 14 grandchildren. Sister Mrs. Ruby Lee Missildine. Dorothy was a native of Corsicana and had lived in Nederland from 1963 to 1981 and moved back there four years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Corsicana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Clarkston; parents, Robert and Opal Barham; sister, Bobbie Fuller; and by her faithful guide dogs, Zippy and Ellen. John Spencer Callicutt III
John Spencer Callicutt III of Richland-Chambers Reservoir area entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007.He was preceded in death by his father, John Spencer Callicutt Jr. He is survived by his mother, Clellia Mae Hilliard Callicutt of Corsicana; his wife, Margaret; his daughter, Cylynne Grace Callicutt of Crosby; his son, Johnathan Callicutt and wife Lisa of Crosby; his grandchildren, Clayton Spencer and Hayley Nicole Callicutt of Crosby; his brother, Jack Callicutt and wife Sandra of Holly Lake Ranch; and nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Born on Nov. 29, 1938, in Taft, his family returned to the Corsicana home of his grandparents, Judge John Spencer Callicutt and Evelina, when he was 12 years of age. He graduated from Corsicana High School in 1956, completed two years at Navarro College and transferred to North Texas State College. He graduated from NTSC in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. While at NTSC, he met Margaret Bennett — the love of his life and his wife of 46 years. Upon graduation, John enlisted in the United States Army proudly serving his country as a member of the 2nd Armored Division, Fort Hood. When honorably discharged in September 1964, he and Margaret relocated to Houston with the two absolute joys of his life — his daughter and his son. While in Houston, John was employed for 29 years with Westinghouse Electric and four years at Eaton Cutler-Hammer in the position of inside sales. He retired in 1998.While his children were growing up, John was active in Jacinto City Little League serving both as a coach and president of the league. He also coached Pop Warner football. He loved the outdoors, especially the Texas Hill Country. He loved sports, especially UT football. He was an avid fisherman and looked forward to every spring as the crappie filled his cove at the lake. His greatest love, however, was time spent with his family and friends A celebration of John’s life will be held at Corley Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Mike Alexander and the Rev. Warren Green officiating. Interment will follow at the family plot at Oakwood Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Don Atkeisson of Corsicana, Johnny Baggett of Seattle, Wash., and John Barron of Corsicana. Pallbearers will be Don Cofer of Corsicana, Bobby Carpenter of Corsicana, Jay Estes of McKinney, Stan Niece of Plano, Alan Taylor of Cypress and Keith Young of Hill Top Lakes. Dr. Jim Rodgers, 74 of Corsicana, passed away Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at his home. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. B.F. Risinger officiating. Graveside services will be held in Stanberry, Mo., at a later date. Dr. Rodgers was born Nov. 18, 1932, in Stanberry, Mo. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys; father, Burton Rodgers; and nephew, Ryan Smith. He is survived by wife, Jane of Corsicana; sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Wid Smith of Macon, Mo.; four daughters, Dana Rodgers of Troy, Dawn Fabela of Travis AFB, Calif., Veronica Ramirez and husband Al Marino, Amanda Tapley and husband Doug Tapley, all of Corsicana; seven grandchildren, Zachary Fabela, Jane Ann Rodgers, Nicole Arreola, Triniti, Chelsea, Katie and Joanna Tapley; one niece, Kelly and husband Shane Petre, and great-niece and great-nephew, Kelsey and Ryan Petre, all of Macon Mo.; and numerous other relatives and close friends. Dr. Rodgers served his country in the Korean War, moving on to become a college professor and school administrator. His business was young people and their well being having served as a longtime member and the chairman of the Navarro County Child Protective and Regulatory services. In 1958 he became a master mason, a Scottish Rite 32nd degree mason and a member of the York Rite Bodies as well as Order of Eastern Star. His major area of interest, however, was his family. They were first in his life and were loved greatly by him. He was a man who could and did so many things mostly for others and will be greatly missed. O'Dell Barnes More was born in Beaverton, AL to Lillie Agnes Owens & Richard Earl Barnes on June 12, 1917. She passed away on September 22, 2007 in Whitney, TX. O’Dell was the 3rd born of 7 children. Proceeded in death by parents, 2 sisters-Minnie & Trudy Markham. O’Dell is survived by husband Clarence M. (Pete) Moores-2 brothers-Neal Barnes of Ft Worth, Ted Barnes of White Settlement & 2 sisters- Velma Byrom & Ruth Collins both of Houston. She has 17 nieces & nephews . O’Dell married Clarence Milton Moore of Whitney May 16, 1959 in Durant Ok. She is the Mother of 2 children: Bettie Cathey of Ft Worth & Peggy Jo Taylor of Whitney. Loving Grandmother to 7 grandkids, 13 great grandkids & 1 great great grandchild.
Aspirations of life were traveling in the motor home with husband, all around the country. Sightseeing, buying souvenirs and most of all fishing. She also loved sewing, needlework, crafts, babysitting, and being a housewife.

She will be missed by all & in our hearts forever.

Services will be at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana Monday Sept 24 at 2:00 P.M. with Chaplain Glen Gray, Chaplain of Hospice of the Heart, will be officiating. Interment following at Birdston Cemetery.

Lottie Barham Taylor, 83, of Blooming Grove, died March 10, 1994, at Twilight Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Rose Hill Cemetery, with Tommy Hood officiating. Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Blooming Grove is in charge of arrangements.
She was born July 13, 1910.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Sam Barham and Worthy Taylor; her daughter, Glenda Barham; and two sons, E. A. Barham and Fred C.
Barham.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Sammye and Gordon L. Griffin; two daughters-in-law, Lois Barham and Juanita Barham; one sister-in-law, Willie Mae Conditt; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services Held For Mrs. Barham
Mrs. Prudie Ann Barham, 89, died Saturday in Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. from the First Christian church with burial in the Rose Hill cemetery.
A native of Smith county, Mrs. Barham had resided in this community since two years of age.
Surviving are three sons, Jos. H., N. W. and Phillip R. Barham, all of Blooming Grove; a daughter, Virginia Barnes, Dallas; two sisters, Mrs. Janie Deason, Henrietta, and Mrs. Cannie Brown, Blooming Grove; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and other relatives.
Grandsons were pallbearers.

Funeral services will be held from the Corley Chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. The rites will be conducted by Kirby McGuire, pastor of the Queen Avenue Baptist church in Tyler, formerly of Corsicana, and Dr. W. M. Shamburger. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. Surviving are five sons, A. R. Mrs.Freddy Estelle Sheppard, 66, widow of the late Dr. J. J. Sheppard of Frost, died in a Garland senior citizens home Friday night. She had resided there for the past six months.

Funeral services for Jack McCleary, 48, who died in a Hillsboro hospital Monday, were held Wednesday at 3 p.m. from the Line Street Methodist church in Hillsboro with burial in Rose Hill cemetery in Blooming Grove.
The rites were conducted by Rev. Denzil Wright and Rev. Bob Cook.
McCleary operated a service station and was a veteran of World War II.

Lacy John McGraw, 71, retired farmer, long-time Blooming Grove resident, died in Memorial Hospital Friday morning following a heart attack Thursday afternoon.
A native of Mississippi, he had resided in the Blooming Grove area for more than 50 years.
Funeral services will be held from the First Baptist Church in Blooming Grove Saturday at 4 p.m. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery.
The rites will be conducted by Rev. Charles Hall, Carthage, former pastor, and Rev. Ritchie, new pastor of the church.
Surviving are his wife of Blooming Grove; six sons, Otis McGraw, Barry; Earl and Irvin McGraw, both of Corsicana; Fred and Jos. Ernest (Jug) McGraw, 82, of Blooming Grove, died March 10, 1994, at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Baptist Church in Blooming Grove, with Barry Fikes and Tommy Hood officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Griffen-Roughton Funeral Home in Blooming Grove is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Feb. 25, 1912.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bobbie Harold McGraw, one grandson and one granddaughter.

Funeral services for Mrs. Richard W. George Sr., 94, were held Sunday, Nov. 21, in the Central Baptist Church in Blooming Grove, with the Rev. E. A. Jordan officiating. She died Friday, Nov. 19, in a nursing home in Corsicana.
Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Blooming Grove. Both services were under the direction of Bradley Funeral Home.
Mrs. George, widow of the late Richard Warren George, was born July 14, 1882 in the Cryer Creek Community. She was the daughter of Tom and Sallie Hill.
Mrs. George resided most of her life in BG where she was active in church and social circles. She was a charter member of the Central Baptist Church of Blooming Grove.
Survivors are two sons, Dudley W. George of Tyler and Richard W. George Jr. of Corsicana; two daughters Mrs. Flint Albrecht of Navarro Mills and Mrs. William E. Carroll of Blooming Grove; one sister, Mrs. Vera P. Grant of Fort Worth; six grandchildren; and eight great-grand-children.

Benny Wayne Hinkle, 64, of Blooming Grove, died Feb 5, 1995, at Clear Lake Regional Hospital in Friendswood.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist Church in Blooming Grove, with Marvin Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Mark Watson, Doug Holifield, Gerald Simpson, Tommy Jordan, Bob McCormick and Sonny Boyd. Honorary pallbearers will be Sherman Putman, John Putman, Jack Flynn, Gene Allen McLain, Doug Magee and Mack Crawford.

Mr. Hinkle was born July 29, 1930, in Frost. He was a farmer-rancher in Navarro County. He worked for five years at Chatanooga Glass and 13 years at Tom's Foods, retiring in July 1992. He suffered from kidney disease, losing one kidney in 1992. The second kidney was removed during a transplant in April 1994, during a transplant in April 1994, his daughter Janie was the donor. However, the transplant was not successful and the donor kidney was removed in November 1994. He was a loving husband and father, as well as caring concerned friend. He provided a strong foundation of high moral values, centering on honesty, integrity, and courage for those who love him.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Hinkle of Blooming Grove; his mother Edwyna Hinkle of Blooming Grove; two daughters, Cathy Ward of Mexia and Janie Hatley of Friendswood; four grandchildren; five brothers, James E. Hinkle of California, Duane Hinkle of Temple, Darrell Hinkle of The Colony, Hollis Hinkle of Joshua and Richard Hinkle of Virginia; three sisters Avis Bailey and Carolyn Gillen both of Corsicana and Diane Richards of Barry; and many nieces and nephews.

Darrel Ray Hinkle
Darrel Hinkle, 74, passed away at Baylor Regional Medical Center in Plano, Texas at 5:30 A.M. Thursday, November 9, 2006. Darrel was born August 8, 1932, in Frost, Texas to James William “Buck” Hinkle and Edwyna Dozier Hinkle.
Darrel was a 1950 graduate of Blooming Grove High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953 and finished his active duty in 1955. He stayed in the active reserves until his retirement in 1980. After a year of farming near Blooming Grove, he moved to Corsicana and went to work for Corsicana Police Department. In 1959, Darrel joined the Mesquite Police Department where he retired in 1980. After receiving a notice of his appointment to the F.B.I. Academy in Quantico, Virginia, Mr. Hinkle trained for 3 months with other Police and Federal officers in the 114th session of the F.B.I. Academy.
After retirement, Darrel and his wife Kay Carrell Hinkle settled in The Colony, Texas.
Darrel was a man of many talents. He enjoyed running every morning until he was seriously injured in a car wreck in 2001. This wreck took away his guitar, piano, driving, carpentry work, and art, but it did not take away his zest for life. He loved to tell stories and keep everyone entertained.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James William “Buck” and Edwyna Hinkle, Brothers, Benny Hinkle, Duane Hinkle, and Edwyn Hinkle.
He is survived by his wife Kay, children, Vonna Bratcher of Garland, Texas, Tim Hinkle of Corsicana, Texas, Tena Thomas of Corsicana, Texas, Christy Downey and husband Matt of Arlington, Texas, Cindy Haynes of Indianapolis, Indiana, Chris Hinkle of The Colony, Texas; grandchildren, Shellee Walker and husband Bryan of Lewisville, Texas, Wes Gullatt and wife Jeanie of Angus, Texas, Melanie Hinkle of Mesquite, Texas, Todd Hinkle and wife Jaqueline of Mesquite, Texas. Todd is currently serving his country in Iraq. Lauren Thomas of Corsicana, Texas, great-grandchildren; Austin and Grace Gullatt, Jacob, Tyler, and Thomas Hinkle, Christian Hinkle,Brianna and Clifford Haynes. Brothers, Hollis Hinkle and wife Jo Ruth of Joshua, Texas. Richard Hinkle and wife Ella of New Caney, Texas. Darrel chose to leave his body to Medical Science in hopes that it will help the research of poly-cystic kidneys.

BLOOMING GROVE, Dec. 11— (Spl.) J. W. (Buck) Hinkle, 57, farmer, died of a heart attack in his automobile parked on Highway 22 Tuesday afternoon.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. from the First Methodist church here with burial in the Rose Hill cemetery.

Funeral services for Larry Garrison, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Garrison, were held at the Methodist Church Sunday at 3 p.m.
The rites were conducted by Rev. Roy Davis, pastor assisted by Rev. T. R. Harrison, pastor of the Central Baptist Church. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Larry was born in the Lone Cedar community but had lived near and in Blooming Grove all his life. He was a freshman in the Blooming Grove High School where he was dearly loved by his teachers, students, and all others who knew him.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Garrison, Blooming Grove; a brother Calvin Garrison, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Inez Howell, Grand Prairie; grandparents, Mrs. Lelia Garrison, Dallas, and Mrs. Martha Gantt, Blooming Grove.
Pallbearers were Harold Bell, C. C. Lusk, Ralph Page, Charlie Rhodes, Lloyd Simpson and Ivan Dozier.

2 Dead, 4 Hurt In Road Mishap

Two were killed and four seriously injured in a two-car collision on Highway 22 a short distance east of Blooming Grove Friday at 3:40 p. m.

Dead are Kenneth Lee Pricer, six-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Daniel Pricer; and Larry Edward Garrison, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Garrison, all of Blooming Grove.

These are the first and second traffic fatalities in Navarro County, for 1956.

Four Injured

The four others hurt are in Memorial Hospital.

Clyde Crocker, 53, Blooming Grove, the driver of a 1955 Chevrolet pick-up involved, suffered a fractured pelvis, injured leg and head injuries. He underwent surgery Friday afternoon. His condition was reported fairly good Saturday.

Mr. Pricer, 26, head injury, was regarded as critical Saturday morning and was still unconscious.

Mrs. Pricer, 25, was in fairly good condition.

Harold Don McGraw, 15, who was in the 1956 Chevrolet involved, suffered a broken left leg and a head injury. He was reported as driving the car.

Officers Investigate

Sheriff Rufus Pevehouse and Highway Patrolmen Rolph Reaves and Marshall Couch investigated the accident.

Pevehouse said that the car in which the two teen-agers were riding was traveling in a westerly direction, and that the pick-up occupied by Crocker and the Pricers is believed to have driven on to the highway with the passenger car striking the pick-up on its side.

Both vehicles were demolished. Traffic was snarled for some time.

A McCormick ambulance brought the Pricers and the Garrison lad to Memorial Hospital where Garrison and the baby were pronounced dead on arrival.

A Corley ambulance brought McGraw to the hospital while H. S. Whorton, Sr., brought Crocker to the hospital in a car.

The accident occurred .7 mile east of Blooming Grove. The Pricer child was born August 11, last year.

Funeral Services

Funeral services for the Pricer baby will be held Saturday at 4:30 p. m. at the Frost Cemetery with Rev. McNatt, Assembly of God minister of Frost, in charge.

Surviving are the parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Woodin, Frost, and Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Pricer, Emmett.   Funeral services for Garrison, a Blooming Grove High School student, will be held from the First Methodist church in Blooming Grove Sunday afternoon, but the time had not been decided Saturday morning. The rites will be conducted by Rev. Roy Davis, pastor, and Rev. T. R. Harrison, pastor of the Central Baptist church in Blooming Grove.

Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Blooming Grove.

Survivors

Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Garrison, Blooming Grove; a brother, Calvin Garrison. Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Inez Howell, Grand Prairie; grandparents.

Mrs. Lelia Garrison and Mrs. Martha Gantt, both of Blooming Grove, and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Harold Bell, C. C. Lusk, Ralph Page, Charlie Rhodes. Lloyd Simpson and Ivan Dozier.

McCormick Funeral service is directing both the Garrison and Pricer services.

Auto Victim Funeral Set For Sunday
CORSICANA, Feb. 18 (Spl) - Funeral arrangements were completed today for a Blooming Grove youth and a baby killed in an automobile accident east of there at 4:00 p.m. Friday.
Funeral services for Larry Edward Garrison, 15, will be held Sunday at First Methodist Church in Blooming Grove. No time has been set.
Rev. Roy Davis and Rev. T. R. Harrison will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Blooming Grove.
Services for Kenneth Lee Pricer, six-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Daniel Pricer, were held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at Frost Cemetery with Rev. McNatt, pastor of Frost Assembly of God Church officiating.
Garrison is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Garrison of Blooming Grove; a brother, Calvin Garrison of Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Inez Howell of Grand Prairie; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Lela Garrison and his maternal mother, Mrs. Martha Gantt, of Blooming Grove.
The Pricer infant is survived by his parents; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Woodin of Frost; and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Pricer of Emmett.
Of the four persons injured in the accident, only A. D. Pricer, 26, remained in critical condition Saturday.
He is still unconscious.
Mrs. Pricer, 25, is suffering  from shock and head injuries. Her condition was reported "fairly good."
Also in fairly good condition are Clyde Crocker, 53, who suffered a fractured pelvis and head inuries, and Don McGraw, 15, who received a broken leg and head injuries.
Navarro County Sheriff Rufus Pevehouse said the car occupied by Garrison and McGraw was going west on Highway 22 and the pickup occupied by Crocker and the Pricers was going across the highway.
The two deaths were Navarro County's first traffic fatalities of the year.

Following a graveside family ceremony on Sat., November 15, 1997, a memorial service was held at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Chapel in Blooming Grove with Rev. Bryan Connally officiating.
Cora Lee began her education in the Blooming Grove School and received her masters degree from North Texas State College in Denton. She started her teaching career in Barry and retired from the Dallas ISD after a 41 year teaching service. Miss George joined the Blooming Grove Central Baptist Church at an early age, and later moved membership to First Baptist Church in Dallas. Her roots were in Blooming Grove, where her grandfather arrived from Alabama in 1891.
Cora Lee is survived by a sister, Viola Sample of Houston; a brother, Ralph George of Dallas and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert D. and Elizabeth D. (McMillian) George; her parents, John D. and Mattie Ruth (Dorsey) George; a brother, John Dorsey George and a sister, Leila Ruth Johnson.
Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

He will lie in state Wednesday, with services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Corley Funeral Home. The Rev. Wayne Mahoney will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Blooming Grove.
A Blooming Grove native, Barr had lived in Lafayette for 25 years. He was a retired farmer and had served in the Navy during World War II.

The community was sadden to learn that area native, "Hoss" Farish passed away at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas on July 15. He suffered a heart attack in the early hours of July 13. Mr. Farish is survived by his wife, Helen (Melton) Farish of Blooming Grove; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry & Rita Farish of Blooming Grove and Jackie & Gail Farish of Fairfield; brother, Wendall Farish of San Antonio; sisters, Johnnie Lynch of Blooming Grove, Lucille Collier of Prescott, Ariz.; Cleo Brown of Emhouse, Betty Ann Collins of Kilgore, Tommie Dean Wheeler of Tyler; grandchildren, Jason, Ryan and Kelli Farish all of Blooming Grove and Shanna Symank of Malone; great-grandchildren , Aaron and Addison Symank of Malone; and step grandchildren Casey and Chris Smith of Fairfield.

W. F. Sims Dead
W. F. Sims, a well known and highly esteemed citizen of this community, died at his home just south-west of town Saturday morning about 9 o'clock, after an attack of pneumonia which developed from influenza.
Mr. Sims was born in Lamar county, Texas, February 9, 1873. He is survived by his wife and six children, his mother, Mrs. E. E. Sims, two sisters, Mrs. Henry Dawson and Mrs. Tom Lyles, all of this place, and two brothers, W. A. Sims of Jacksonville, and R. L. Sims of the US Navy.
Mr. Sims was married to Miss Ella Crews, December 3rd, 1899 and to the union six children were born. He professed religion at the age of fifteen years and joined the Cumberland Presbyterian church. He afterwards joined the Baptist church, of which he was a member at the time of his death.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the cemetery by Rev. Bomer of Hubbard, who was assisted by the local order of Odd Fellows.

Funeral services were held 2 pm Sunday at the Bradley Funeral Home in Blooming Grove for Cy Youngblood, 64, resident of Plano and former resident of Blooming Grove, who died early Friday morning. Officiating was Mr. Alan Sowders of Boles Home in Quinlan, Texas. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery in Blooming Grove.
He was a retired mortician and a member of the 18th St. Church of Christ in Plano.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Glondon Youngblood of Plano; a daughter, Mrs. Sonya Newton of Plano; a son-in-law Barney Newton of Plano; two grandsons, Ricky and Randy Newton of Plano; and a granddaughter, Kim Newton of Plano.
He lay in state at the Bunch Funeral Home in Ennis until 9 a.m. Sunday and was transferred to Blooming Grove.

Nora Katheryn Garrison
Born March 4 1913, the 9th of 10 children (7 boys and 3 girls) to Waller Parker and Lelia Hester Garrison at Valley View in Cooke County. Nora graduated from Blooming Grove High School. She was employed for several years as a telephone operator in Ennis and for a time in Washington D.C. She later went to work for Mobil Oil Company in Dallas. She worked there as a payroll clerk until she retired in 1975. She returned to Dallas in 1988 where she was living at the time of her death. She died January 14 at the age of 83.
She was a member of Skillman Avenue Church of Christ. She is survived by one brother, E. I. (Bud) Garrison and sister-in-law, Berneice of Hearne, one sister, Allie Gantt of Blooming Grove, sister-in-law, Helen Garrison of Corsicana, sister-in-law, Nancy Garrison of Blooming Grove and many nieces and nephews.
Nora was an independent woman who enjoyed her work first as a telephone operator. She was a switchboard operator at the Pentagon and was called in to work several hours straight when Pearl Harbor was bombed. When she returned to Dallas, she attended Draughn's Business School after which she was employed by Mobil Oil Company. She remained there and was payroll clerk when she retired in 1971.
She took care of her mother for several years before her mother's death. She is remembered by nieces and nephews by the special things that she did for them: invitations to Dallas to attend the Ice Capades or Starlight Operettas or the baseball games. She treated each one as a special person.
She enjoyed doing handwork and her finely stitched quilts are prized by the lucky ones who have been recipients of them. She enjoyed cooking and though she cooked for only herself, she always prepared a complete and tasty meal and never tired of trying out new recipes. She enjoyed travel and visited interesting places all over the world. She was always looking forward to her next trip. Her church, her family, and her fellow employees were all important to her.
She was a number one Cowboy and Rangers fan and followed the games closely.
She lived close to 84 years and it is impossible to sum up a life such as hers in a few sentences. She had dignity and grace, humor and compassion, and loyalty and love and will be remembered with many fond memories which will be such a pleasure to recall.

Joyce Ernestine Jones Armstrong, 62, of Blooming Grove died July 30 at Columbia Navarro Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Blooming Grove with Grady Cashion officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Armstrong was born July 17, 1935 in Corsicana. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blooming Grove. She graduated from Corsicana High School and Navarro College. She received her B.S. Degree from Texas Wesleyan University and her masters ED from East Texas State University. She did post graduate at East Texas State and Stephen F. Austin University. She taught Special Ed classes at Corsicana ISD, Mesquite ISD, Duncanville ISD, and retired from Blooming Grove ISD after 33 years as a teacher. She was a member of the TSTA, The Association for Handicapped Persons, Daughters of the Nile, and United Daughters of the Confederacy. She professed her faith in Jesus Christ at age 10.

Mrs. Armstrong is survived by her husband, E. Jean Armstrong; son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Jana H. Armstrong of Dallas; a daughter, Alice Anne Mason of Blooming Grove; mother, Annie Jones of Corsicana; a brother, Morris M. Jones of Bryan; a sister, Enela Niles of Waco; a grandson, Sherwood A. Mrs. Armstrong was a long time resident of Blg Grove. She died Friday in Paulyne's Convalescent Home in Corsicana.
She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs Wayne Hatley; six sons, Jack & Jimmy Armstrong, Jean Armstrong of Duncanville, John W. Armstrong of San Antonio, Bruce O. Armstrong of Seagoville, and Garth of Lubbock; 29 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, & three nieces.

Mr. Hinkle graduated from Blooming Grove High School in 1945, then farmed in the B.G. area until drafted into the U.S. Army in 1950. He Married Dorothy Lueck of Temple in 1955. They farmed four years east of Blooming Grove before moving to their farm in Heidenheimer, near Temple.
Duane is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter and son-in-law, Doug and Dana Ruth Friedrichs; son and daughter-in-law, Don (Buster) and Tammy Hinkle of; four grandchildren, Nina Tyroch, Duane Friedrichs, Marsha and Derek Hinkle, all of Heidenheimer; mother Edwyna Hinkle of Barry.

Duane Hinkle, 70, of Heidenheimer, died Friday, May 8, 1998, at the home of his daughter.

Services are 2 p.m. today at the Blooming Grove United Methodist Church, with Rev. Tom Henderson of Heights Baptist Church of Temple officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Blooming Grove.

Mr. Hinkle was born in Springtown to James William “Buck” Hinkle and Edwyna Dozier Hinkle. He graduated from Blooming Grove High School in 1945. He farmed in the Blooming Grove area until he was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1950. He married Dorothy Lueck of Temple in 1955. They farmed east of Blooming Grove for four years before moving to their farm in Heidenheimer, near Temple.

Mr. Hinkle was preceded in death by his father, James William “Buck” Hinkle and his brother, Benny Hinkle, both of Blooming Grove.

Survivors are his wife, Dorothy; daughter and son-in-law, Doug and Dana Ruth Friedrichs; son and daughter-in-law, Don “Buster” and Tammy Hinkle; four grandchildren, Nina Tyroch, Duane Friedrichs, Marsha and Derek Hinkle, all of Heidenheimer; mother, Edwyna Hinkle, of Barry; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edwyn Hinkle of Blooming Grove; Darrel and Kay Hinkle of the Colony, Hollis and Jodie Hinkle of Joshua, Richard and Ella Hinkle of Beijing, China; sisters and brother-in-law, Avis Bailey and Carolyn Gillen of Corsicana, Diane and Wendell “Peb” Richards of Barry; sister-in-law, Jean Hinkle of Blooming Grove; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Verne was raised in Frost, Tx, but lived in Blooming Grove after she married Carl Pritchard. They moved to the West Texas area from 1944-1964. They lived in Paducah and Meadow, Tx. before moving back to Blooming Grove, where they were members of the First Methodist Church. Verne was residing in Houston at the time of her death.
Mrs. Pritchard is survived by a son, Carl J. Pritchard and his wife, Pamela Sue, of Houston; a sister, Velma Hawkins of Hillsboro; two grandsons, Carl Greg Pritchard of Abilene and David J. Pritchard of Lubbock; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Lucy (Skelton) Brown; her husband Carl Pritchard, in 1994; sister, Vista Fay Young of Hillsboro and a brother, James Brown of Frost.

Nadien Etta (Fitzgerald) Brown, 99 long time Blooming Grove resident, passed away Dec. 8, 1998 at Valley Baptist Hospital in Harlingen, Texas. She was born February 25, 1899, in Blooming Grove to Leonard J. and Mary Eliza (Morrow) Fitzgerald.
Nadien and husband Earl L. Brown and children moved from Kerens, Tx to Blooming Grove in 1934 and raised their family. They lived in the J. W. Brown homeplace which was very unique. J. W., in an effort to find cool breezes and a place devoid of mosquitoes, built a sleeping tower for summer nights. It was a room built on stilts about 25 ft. high and accessed by two flights of stairs. It was a landmark in Blooming Grove for many years.
Nadien was an active and faithful member of the B.G. Methodist Church where she attended and served for 64 years. She was also known to most residents through her work in the Blooming Grove Post Office over the years. She will be remembered by those who knew her by her loving spirit and helpful hands. She marveled at the years that were granted to her and the changes that occured during her 99 years of life: automobiles, airplanes, radio, motion pictures, WW1 activity, WW 11, withholding taxes, color photography, penicillin, space travel, computers, television, - none of these things existed when she was born!
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Earl L. Brown in 1947, also all her brothers, sisters, and in-laws have died. She is survived by two sons, John Warren Brown of McPherson, Kansas, and Earl Lester Brown, Jr. of Brownsburg, Indiana; daughter Zelda A. Mayo of Raymondville, Texas; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Dec. 11, 1998 at the Blooming Grove United Methodist Church by Rev. Marvin Moore of Clifton, Texas. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The fourth child of Will and Nora Fulton, Robbie Lee was baptized and remained faithful in the Baptist faith for 79 years. She attended Berean Baptist Church in Houston for over 37 yrs.
Mrs. Harrison and her husband moved to Houston on Thanksgiving Day in 1936. She was always a loving homemaker and wonderful grandmother who loved her flowers and plants. She was a friend to everyone even if she had only met them once. She was always giving from her heart to anyone in need. They never had to seek her out. She always found them.
She is survived by husband, Buford Harrison of Texas City; daughter and son-in-law Tommy Rigsby of Santa Fe, Tx; brothers and sisters-in-law, Will Roy and Joyce Fulton of Ft. Worth and Jodie Cecil and June Fulton of Tyler; sisters, Lucille Futch of Ponder and Loraine Tipping of Snider; grandchildren, Shelby Frieze and husband Don of Santa Fe, Tx. and Neice Shotwell of Houston; and great-grandchild Amber Dawn Frieze.

J. J. Gillen, aged 77 years, longtime resident of Blooming Grove, died Thursday night at 11 o'clock. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the First Baptist Church in Blooming Grove with burial in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The rites will be conducted by Rev. Mr. Griffith, pastor of the church.
A native of New Albany, Miss., Mr. Gillen came to Blooming Grove in 1900 and had resided in that section since that time.
Surviving are his wife, of Blooming Grove; eight children, W. C. Gillen, Lampasas; C. L. Gillen, Dallas; Mrs. Jack Hammonds, Tuscola; Mrs. Jess Hunter, New London; Mrs. A. C. Potts, Carlisle; Mrs. E. She was a homemaker and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4133 in Trinidad. Previously of Samaria, she had resided in Kerens for the past two years and was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Toliver died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, in Athens. He was born April 1, 1944, in Kerens to the late Richard Perkins and Ruthie Toliver. Mr. Toliver worked at Toliver Tires and was a member of New Hope CME of Malakoff. He was married to Stella Berniece Toliver.
Mr. Toliver was preceded in death by son, Kerry Toliver, in 1995.

J. S. Compton 77 of Streetman, passed away Tuesday September 25, 2007 in Dallas. He was born April 6, 1930 in Streetman to Irby and Mary Hayes Compton. He was a member of New Life Assembly of God church. He is retires from Swift Meat Company and then was employed at Carroll Lumber Company in Teague and then Hughes Lumber Company Fairfield. Visitation will be 6-8pm Thursday September 27, 2007 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Fairfield. Services will be 10:00 am Friday September 28, 2007 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harry Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Cade Cemetery in Streetman. Services were held at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Lafayette, where he had lived with his sister, Pat, for the last 15 years.
James was the son of early B. G. citizens, Arthur and Katie Crocker. He graduated from Texas Tech with an Electrical Engineering degree and worked at the Tinker Air Force Base, White Sands, N. M., and later went to work at NASA on the Mercury and Apollo Space Programs.
A WW11 veteran, James served in the Pacific Theatre, Austria, New Guinea and Philippines. He worked at Wal-Mart after his retirement.
Other survivors include his brother, Bob, who lives in El Paso, a nephew and family, Houston. James elected to donate his body to medical science at Tulane University.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 9 at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 1030 Johnston St., for James A. Crocker, 74, who died at 1:50 p.m. Saturday, June 7 at Columbia Southwest Hospital following a brief illness.

James was born October 23, 1922, in Blooming Grove. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.

He graduated from Texas Tech with an Electric Engineering degree. He worked at Tinker Air Force Base, White Sands, New Mexico, and later went to work at NASA on the Mercury and Apollo Space Programs.

He lived the past 15 years in Lafayette with his sister, Pat O'Brien. He worked at Wal Mart most of that time.

Survivors include his sister, Pat; his brother, Bob Crocker of El Paso; and his nephew's family in Houston.

James elected to donate his body to medical science at Tulane University.

He was born Sept. 15, 1921 in Blooming Grove. He retired from Halliburton Co. in 1970 and moved from West Texas area to Corsicana.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Hargrove, and daughter Marsha McKie of Corsicana; two grandsons, Brent and Lance Morelock, both of Corsicana; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Ruth Hamilton of Cleburne; one niece; and several nephews.

Viola Mae Ward, 86, of Blooming Grove, died Aug. 22 at Columbia Navarro Regional Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, George Ward of Blooming Grove and by seven brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Ward was born May 9, 1911 in Athens.

Mrs. Ward is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Andrews of Corsicana and Jo Ann Ward of Blooming Grove; five grandchildren, Holley Andrews of Austin, Chris Webb and Kendra Webb, both of North Richland Hills, Ken Webb of Blooming Grove and Nick Andrews of San Antonio; and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Albrecht is survived by her brother, R. W. (Bootsie) George of Corsicana; sister, Lorraine George Carroll of Blooming Grove; nieces, Mary Edith (Edy) George of Tyler; Carolyn Carroll of Blooming Grove and Mary Frances Carroll Waldrip of Blooming Grove; nephew, William E. (Bill) Carroll of London, England; and numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Flint W. Albrecht.
Mrs. Albrecht was a retired teacher and librarian and will be remembered as a beloved sister, devoted aunt, dear friend, and Baylor University Alumnus.
Edith's father, Richard (Dick) George became the editor of the Blooming Grove weekly newspaper, The Rustler, in 1895; and he helped organize the city waterworks and electric power plant in 1907. Her mother Alva Hill George, lived 94 years in the Blooming Grove area.

Services were first held in Vulcan for Mrs. Hinkle, then a second service was held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Blooming Grove, on Jun 16, 1997. Cynthia Lee, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Blooming Grove officiated at the gravesite ceremony and burial followed.
Mrs. Hinkle is survived by her husband, Buel Hinkle, of Vulcan; her daughter, Susan Hinkle of Houston; her son, Thomas Hinkle of Kennedy, and her step-father, Don Marshman of Vulcan. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rae Marshman in 1991.
Mr. Hinkle, a Blooming Grove native, chose to bury his wife in his family plot at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Carell Graves Hinkle
Carell Graves Hinkle, 53, died Thursday, June 5, at Vulcan, Alberta.
Mrs. Hinkle was born Oct. 11, 1943 at Estevan, Saskatchewan to Rae and Ross Graves. she moved with her parents to Birmingham, England in the summer of 1947. She returned to Canada, then to Vulcan in 1946. Slhe attended school at Vulcan and after graduating in 1962, began working at the Bank of Commerce in Vulcan until she moved to Calgary and worked at a bank as an accountant for seven years.
In 1970 she married Buel Hinkle. Together they traveled and lived in many countries; Holland, Iran, Australia, and several places in the United States. They lived mostly in Texas where she took an advanced course at Sam Houston State University Law and Banking. She returned to Vulcan from Japan in 1992 and enjoyed traveling through various parts of Texas during the winter months and returning to the Vulcan in the summer.
Mrs. Hinkle loved people, especially her family. She looked forward to spending time with them. Her favorite hobby was, as she would say "spoiling Bill" and she always had a tender place in her heart for children. She was very artistic and enjoyed handicrafts of all kinds including oil painting, barbwire wall hangings and traveling. One of her paintings still hangs in the Episcopal Church in Woodlands.
Beloved wife of Mr. Buel Hinkle of Vulcan; loving mother of a daughter, Susan Hinkle of Houston; a son Thomas Hinkle of Kennedy; a step-father, Don Marshman of Vulcan; brother-in-law, Coy (Reene) Hinkle of Wichita Falls; sister-in-law, Oreta (C.D.) Harrison of Huntsville; two nieces, a nephew, numerous cousins, and her dog, Dirty Harry.
She was preceded in death by her mother Rae Marshman in 1991.
Services will be held, Monday, June 16, 2 p.m., at Rose Hill Cemetery, Blooming Grove with the Rev. Cynthia Lee officiating. Interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Mrs. Hinkle's name can be made to the Vulcan Emergency Medical Service, Box 813, Vulcan, Alberta, Tol 2B0.

Services were held at graveside in Rose Hill Cemetery on July 10, 1997, with Cynthia Lee, officiating. Mattie Doris was the daughter of early citizens, W. J. (Joe) and Eric Dorsey Spurlock. Joe established the Old Corner Drug Store in Blooming Grove and sold it in 1926 to G. E. Ramsey, Sr., and the family then moved to Shreveport, La.

Mattie Doris Smalley, 87, of Amarillo died July 5 in Amarillo.

Graveside services were earlier today at Rose Hill Cemetery in Blooming Grove with Pastor Cynthia Lee officiating.

Mrs. Smalley was born in Blooming Grove. She attended the Central Institute for the Deaf in St. Louis and Texas Women's University in Denton. Mrs. Smalley lived in Midwest City, Oklahoma for more than 39 years. She married Don Smalley in 1950 in Athens.

Mrs. Smalley is survived by her nephews, Jim and Blain Anderson of Marietta, GA and Dr. Jim Spurlock of Amarillo; a niece, Bliss Spurlock of Bailey, CO; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Spurlock of Amarilo.

Mrs. Smalley was preceded in death by her husband, in 1978; a brother, James Spurlock in 1993; and a sister, Ruth Anderton in 1993.

The family requests that memorial donations go to the Panhandle Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 2200 West 7th, Amarillo, Texas, 79106.

Justin Oliver McSpadden

Justin Oliver McSpadden, 98, of Blooming Grove died July 13, 1997 in Corsicana.

A memorial service were held at the First United Methodist Church of Blooming Grove today with Rev. Cynthia Lee officiating. There will be a Masonic graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his six grandsons and Buddy Ross.

Mr. McSpadden was born July 4, 1899 on the family farm near Drane, the son of James Oliver and Alice Lee Culbertson McSpadden. A 76 year mason, he was a retired banker and rancher. He served his community and county in various capacities, including school trustee, President of the Central Texas Quarterhorse Association, and director of the Federal Land Bank.

Mr. McSpadden is survived by his children, Justin O. Jr., and Martha McSpadden of Bryan, James Daniel and Jackie McSpadden of Houston, Shirley and Joe Frederick of Barry and Carol McSpadden of Houston. His grandchildren are Glenn and Chris Frederick, Beth and Jeff Dees, Grace and Gary Harper, James O. and Caroline McSpadden, James D. and Rainey McSpadden, and Bill McSpadden. His six great-grandchildren are Heather and Brian Frederick, Jason, Justin and Ellen Dees and Corey Harper. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Reba McSpadden and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann Woodward McSpadden and a grandson, Alan Frederick.

Mrs. Mary Kagler, 83, of Blooming Grove died March 27, 1997 in Baytown.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Central Baptist Church in Blooming Grove with Barry Fikes officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Kagler was born Aug. 20, 1913, in Blooming Grove. She left Blooming Grove with her husband and daughters in 1944 after farming for "Straw" to work for Schlumberger. The family lived in Corpus Christi, Kennedy, Pleasanton, Carrizo Springs, and Bishop. After her husband's retirement in 1970, they returned to Blooming Grove and built their home. After her husband's death, she continued to live in her home taking care of the yard and garden until failing health forced her to sell and move to Baytown in July 1996 to live with her daughter, Charlene. She devoted her life to her husband, daughters, and in later life, her grandchildren. She was a wonderful homemaker, cook and an avid sports fan. She taught children's department of the Baptist churches where they lived. She is a member of the Central Baptist Church in Blooming Grove.
Mrs. Kagler is survived by her daughters; Doris Kagler Anderson and husband Ted. G. of McAllen, Sue Kagler Childress and husband Carlisle Hugh of Gulf Shores, Alabama, and Charlene Kagler of Baytown; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; sisters Clara Morgan [McGraw] of Corsicana and Geneva Bonner of Emhouse; a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kagler is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie F. "Straw" Kagler; parents, John and Jenny Collier; brothers, Howard Collier and Tom Collier; sisters Edna Smithen, Emma Sherman, Georgia Duncan, Dora Kagler, Gladys Mahone, and Nannie Ruth Collier.

On March 19, 1994 Robbie Biggar (daughter of Reagan and Oleta Grounds) and her little grandson, Kasey Wyatt Roberts, were murdered. Even though Robbie and Kasey were taken from us, they will never be forgotten.

Investigators have worked many hours on this case but as of this date no arrest has been made. Because of the dedication that has been given to solving this case we believe it will be solved.

The families of Robbie and Kasey ask that when you read this to say a prayer for the investigators that soon they will be given the answers they need to make an arrest and get the conviction as to who is responsible for their murders.
