Rita Rowena
(Ballew) Loucks
Dec 23, 1933 - Sep 9, 2019
Rita
Ballew Loucks (nee, Rita Rowena Ballew) was born
December 23, 1933, in Pursley, Texas to Ovie Burns
(b. 1913) and Robert Ballew (b. 1911) and was raised
by her mother in and around the cities of Corsicanna
and Waco, TX, in close proximity to her maternal
grandparents, along with a younger sister, Myra
Mahoney, a younger brother, Richard Gene Mahoney
(1940-1994) and an aunt quite close in age, Fran
Burns.
A woman of staunch independence, she had quickly
adapted to a level of proficiency in secretarial and
office management skills before living for a time
with two likewise-ambitious Texas girlfriends in the
big city of San Diego (and the secretarial-pool
apartment life that entailed), before meeting,
marrying and settling in to raise a family with
Harry Dee Loucks (b. September 19, 1936), ultimately
following in this capacity, to make homes and offer
her invaluable managerial (and often research)
support whilst raising their two sons, Jeff Dee Laux
(b. December 7, 1963) and Chadley David Loucks (b.
April 17, 1968) in the cities of Los Angeles, CA,
Cincinnati, OH, Philadelphia, PA, and, ultimately,
Hot Springs, AR.
Following their divorce, Rita established another
thirty-year period of staunch independence (and
condo life) in Houston, TX, ultimately retiring
there after nearly three decades with Rice
University, and relocating to the relative calm and
quiet of Little Rock four years ago. Here she again
shared a city of residence with her older son, Jeff,
and was recently joined by her younger son, Chad,
who has relocated from a long residence in Austin,
TX. Rita Loucks is survived by these two sons, by
the sister Myra of Waco, TX and aunt Fran of
Corsicanna, TX, as well as by a half-brother, Bill
Ballew of Houston, TX, and a half-sister, Jerrie
Ballew of Austin, TX.

Many of us at Emerson UU Church were sorry when Rita
moved to Little Rock but enjoyed keeping up with her
through those years. We have missed her. Her quiet
good humor, kindness and friendship were essentially
Rita. I will always remember sharing stories and
laughing together. Always present. Always ready to
help with a project. Now missing her even more.....

I am so very sorry to learn of Rita's passing. She
was all those things said above--fiercely
independent, smart, and so kind. I knew her only as
a church member here in Houston--Emerson UU Church,
and she was delightful to know. I am sorry for her
family's loss :( |

Deana Jo "Dee" (Vance)
Thomas
Dec. 27, 1939 - May 26, 2021
Deana
Jo Thomas won her fight, shed her earthly body and
entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, May 26th
2021. Dee was born on December 27th 1939 in
Rainelle, West Virginia. She was the daughter of
Mildred and William Vance.
Deana met Charlie Thomas on a blind date to a dance,
fell in love and wed on June 14th 1960. In 1973, the
couple moved from Louisiana to Chatfield, Texas and
established a home on many acres that was named "The
Homestead." Dee built her life around her three kids
Timothy, Daniel and Holly. The title "Room Mom" was
something that Dee was very proud to take on and she
did an exceptional job at being Mom in all aspects
of her children's lives.
"Miss Dee," as she was often called, was someone
with a very creative mind. She attended the Art
Institute of Dallas where she refined a passion for
art and painting. Dee worked for different design
studios, one of which was Disney World, creating
backdrops for various exhibits. She attended Arthur
Murray Ballroom of Dance where she excelled in
dance. She treasured her baby grand piano where she
often played the most angelic music. She had an eye
for creativity and made sure to never leave the
small details out. At Christmas, it was never hard
determining which gifts were from her because all of
her gifts were so perfectly wrapped with a trinket
and elaborate bow. Dee found her greatest joys in
the eyes of her grandkids and great grandkids. "Mim"
as she was so lovingly called would devote weekends
to sleepovers, tea at The Crescent Hotel and playing
dress up with her shoes and wardrobe.
Dee was one of a deep faith, which gave her a solid
foundation to living her life to the fullest. She
took it upon herself to learn Hebrew, even having a
weekly bible study with the local Messianic Jewish
Group. In her home, you would find countless
journals filled to the brim of scripture and notes.
It is safe to say that Dee truly fought the good
fight and she has won the ultimate race. Her smile
could light up a room and her laugh was so
contagious that it would turn any moment around. Her
strength and faith in God was made evident in every
aspect of her life. Her way of saying "Oh honey"
would give one hope and just enough encouragement to
keep going.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mildred
(Midge) and William(Bill) Vance, her
daughter-in-law, Sharon Thomas, and son-in-law,
Carroll Moran. She is survived by family members;
Charlie Thomas, Timothy Thomas, Daniel Thomas, and
Holly Moran. Her grandchildren include: Meagan
Shafer and husband Andy, Sarah Ballew and husband
Caleb, and Rebecca Rossi. Great grandchildren
include: Laker age 7, Grace age 6, Ava age 4, Levi
age 3, and Valentino age 4.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 28th 2021 from 6
to 7pm at Griffin Roughton Funeral Home of
Corsicana. A celebration of her life will be held on
Saturday May 29th 2021 at 10am at Northside Baptist
Church of Corsicana with Pastor Daniel Harper
officiating. Interment will be held at the
Oakwood
Cemetery of Corsicana under the direction of Griffin Roughton Funeral Home. |

William
Lester Baldwin
May 15, 1934 - Jun 27, 2021
William
was born in Pisgah Ridge to Emory Lester and Gladys
Lane Baldwin. His father was a farmer. Although his
mother passed away when he was just two years old,
William enjoyed growing up on Pisgah Ridge.
His father enlisted the help of many aunts and
uncles in the area to raise William. With the
security of all the adults raising him, he and his
cousins enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and other
escapades. They often played in Richland Creek. One
time when they were playing in the creek, they were
swept down the creek in a flood and counted
themselves lucky to have gotten out. William enjoyed
attending school at Nash and Richland School, where
he played many sports, including baseball,
basketball, football, and track. He also excelled at
academics and graduated from Richland High School.
William was a family man. He and his wife Dolores
were blessed with many years of marriage and one
daughter. Their daughter Cheryl Denise always knew
the love of her parents, and loved spending time in
the pasture with them. Hard work was instilled in
her from a very early age. William enjoyed having
his girls with him in the pasture, and Cheryl
especially liked helping her dad. She loved working
the cattle, planting and harvesting hay, and
anything to do with driving one of the tractors.
They were a close family, and William was pleased to
eventually welcome a son-in-law and grandchildren
into the family.
William was a very hard worker. He started picking
cotton at a very early age, and later worked in the
Richland Cotton Gin. He worked outside sales at
Hudson Automotive. He was a business partner and
vice president with Red Circle Plumbing Supply,
where he also worked outside territory sales. For
thirty years, William also owned his own landscaping
business, where he had the contract to mow state
highway rights-of-way in Navarro, Anderson, and
Ellis Counties, along with the Corp of Engineer's
mowing of Navarro Mills Lake. He also proudly served
as Commissioner of Navarro County Precinct 3 for
three terms.
In his free time, William enjoyed raising cattle and watching deer and other wild life. When he was able
to go on vacation William loved to get away in the summer to head to the beach. With his deep love of
family, he enjoyed fishing in Richland Creek with his cousins and friends, as well getting together
for the annual family reunion fish fry's, Thanksgiving, and Christmas gatherings. He loved
taking his girls to see the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros play. He also liked watching
basketball and the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed a good steak and Mexican food.
William was fair and honest. A very personable man, there was not a person that William did not get
along with. Family was everything to him, and he especially loved spending time with his wife and his
daughter's family. His grandchildren were a blessing to him. Saved at an early age, William grew up
trusting the Lord with everything he did. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Richland.
William is survived by his wife Dolores, his daughter Cheryl and her husband Larry, his
grandchildren Daniel Berger, Kimberlin, and Katelynn Berger. William is also survived by sisters and
brothers-in-law, nieces, a nephew, cousins, and many friends. The family would like to thank Dr.
Ron Rodriguez, the nurses, and staff at Twilight Home, as well as a special thank you to hospice
staff, Dr. Andrew O'Kelley, nurses, and staff during this difficult time.
Pall bearers will be Jimmy Bennett, Ron Bennett, Gary Wigley, Danny Wigley, Scott Wigley, and Eddie
Davis. Honorary pall bearers will be Buddy Wigley, Bill Coker, Bruce McManus, Faith Holt, Kit
Herrington, and John Paul Ross.
To honor William's life, his family has planned a visitation on Thursday, July 1 from 6-8 PM at Corley
Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for Friday, July 2, 2021 at 10 a.m. in the Magnolia Chapel of
Corley Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Richland
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in William's name to Hospice of

John
William Robinson passed away June 3, 2021, at the
age of 87.
John was born on Christmas Eve 1933 to John and Opal
(Johnson) Robinson at his parents' farm house in
Corsicana. The oldest son, John grew up in Corsicana
with his brothers Joe Wayne and David Scott. He
worked at his uncle's automotive repair shop, and
enjoyed working on engines and putting together
model airplanes. John played football for Rice high
School. John dated Virginia Randolph throughout high
school, although both went on to marry other people.
He graduated in a class of six from Rice High School
in 1952, where he was interested in electronics.
This interest led him to receive his associate's
degree in electronics while serving in the Air
Force. John was always proud of his service as a
radar technician in the military.
After a brief failed marriage, John and his high
school sweetheart Virginia were reunited. They were
married on January 7, 1967 at Arcadia Baptist
Church. Even though money was sometimes tight, John
was always a great provider for his child and two
step-children, Richard Scott Robinson, Lonny Wayne
Pierce, and Jenny Lou Windham. He was an involved
father, and made every sporting event or other event
his son Richard was involved in. Even though he
could be stern, his children knew his bark was
stronger than his bite. He loved his children, and
was even more excited when his grandchildren were
born. He enjoyed laughing and poking fun with them.
John always wanted to be sure his family was taken
care of, and was known to ask them "do you need
something to eat?"
After leaving the service, John worked as a mechanic
for most of his life. He worked for a time for LTV
Vaught Enterprises and later for the Dallas Fire
Department. He enjoyed his work tremendously. A
hard-worker, he often put chains on the tires of his
work vehicles so that he was able to always reach
areas where the ambulances and fire trucks might be
stranded in the ice in especially cold winters.
When John was not hard at work, he enjoyed building
and flying model airplanes. He also really liked
getting out of the house and going places. Almost
every day he went out to eat and played bingo on
numerous occasions. With his love of guitars and
good music, some of his most memorable vacations
were those spent in Branson, Missouri. John enjoyed
attending church, and even taught Sunday school for
a while at Arcadia Baptist Church.
A tough, strong man, John could be quiet and
assertive, depending on the situation. He respected
other's opinions, but was confident in his own. A
very intelligent man, he could fix just about
anything.
More important than anything else, family was John's
priority. He loved them to visit them out in the
country, and really enjoyed spending time with his
grandchildren. He would do anything for his family -
even go fishing for his wife and children, despite
it not being something he particularly enjoyed. Some
of his treasured belongings were the family
heirlooms that had been passed down. He also
collected a lot of guns.
John leaves behind his wife Virginia Faye Robinson;
his brother David Scott Robinson; his children
Richard and his wife Emily Robinson, Lonny Pierce,
Robin and Jenny Windham, Patrick William Robinson,
and Victoria Lynn "Robinson;" his grandchildren
Trevor Robinson, Madison Robinson, Robbie Windham, Stephani Jarrel, Chelsie Sanders, Tony Pierce, and
Amy Windham; along with numerous
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
brother Joe Wayne Robinson and son John Sorenti
Robinson.
To celebrate John's life, his family has planned a
visitation on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 from 5-7 PM at
Corley Funeral Home. Graveside services will be
Wednesday, June 16, 2021 from 1:15-2:15 PM at
Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. |

Judy, was the nickname given to her by her father
and it stayed with her throughout her life. She was
the youngest of seven children. She lived her
younger years in Buffalo, TX. where she met the love
of her life (A.J.) Argie James Johnson. They were
married June 28, 1951 and together raised four
children. She was a member of the First Pentecostal
Church of God, now known as Calvary Worship Center
for over 50 years. She loved the Lord with all her

Patricia (Anderson)
Barnett
Jul 2, 1939 - May 18, 2022
Patricia
A. Barnett, 82, died at her family residence in
Nacogdoches May 18, 2022. A number of ailments at
last stilled her fierce and loving heart. Donald
Wayne Barnett, her husband since Valentine's Day
1957, went home first, 12 years ago. Pat sprang from
the Blackland Prairie hamlet of Kerens with five
sisters and a brother. Her parents, Helen and Jack
Anderson, did their best to guide their second
daughter, but the headstrong Pat would have her way.
Leading the Bobcats as twirler and majorette put her
in the spotlight. She found she liked it there.
Pat's self-confidence made her sure of many things,
not least her love for a handsome roughneck who had
also grown up in Kerens. A strapping derrickman who
wrestled drill pipe into place atop the rig's tower,
Don never had a chance. A whirlwind romance led to
wedding vows. Nine months later came a son, Donald
Blake. Son Barry Craig and daughter Melanie Leigh
followed in 1959 and 1966. After the family quit the
oilfield for the piney woods of Nacogdoches 63 years
ago, Pat and Don became pillars of the community.
Pat worked many years as secretary at the
Westminster Presbyterian Church, taught Sunday
school, served on the Session, sang in the choir,
and rarely missed a worship service. She also
managed Dr. Larry Walker's office while earning a
B.A. degree at Stephen F. Austin State University.
In 1999, she began a 20-year stint strengthening the
Music Prep program at SFA as its Director. Don
meanwhile also graduated from SFA, managed food
services for the university, served as coach and
scoutmaster, and made many friends. Together Pat and
Don built a family that works in art, law, and
business. They collectively have six degrees from
Yale; three from SFA; two from Harvard; and one each
from Columbia, Emory, and the University of Texas.
Pat's older sister Pam Morris passed away in 2021.
Pat is survived by son Blake and daughter Melanie of
Nacogdoches; son Barry and his wife Nancy Barnett of
Dallas; sister Peggy Schneider and her husband
Reverend Dave of Fort Worth; sister Priscilla Clore
of Waxahachie; brother John Alexander Anderson, IV,
and his wife Cathy of Shreveport; sister Jean
Williams and her husband Ron of Nacogdoches; sister
Joan Taylor and her husband Kim of Nacogdoches;
granddaughter Caroline Reeve and her husband Nate of
Houston; grandson James Barnett of Dallas; grandson
Chase Barnett of Houston; and many nieces, nephews,
cousins, and friends. A graveside service at the
Oak Grove
Cemetery near Kerens will be held on May 28,
2022. A Celebration of Life and reception are
planned for September at the Westminster
Presbyterian Church in Nacogdoches. Pat's family
requests that anyone who wishes to commemorate her
do so by contributing in her name to SFA's Music
Preparatory Division, by mail or in person at the
Music Prep House, 3028 Raguet Street, Nacogdoches,
Texas 75965, or online at sfamusicprep.com. Fond
memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared

Sandra Kay (Everett) Lewis
Aug 2, 1944 - May 20, 2022
Sandra
Kay Lewis, age 77, of Corsicana, Texas, went home to
be with her Lord and Savior, peacefully on May 20th,
2022, comforted by her son Lee. She was born August
2nd, 1944, at Randolph Field in San Antonio, Texas.
She was the beloved second daughter of Dick and
Maxine Everett.
She attended
Corsicana High School, class of 1962, where she
was a top scholar and majorette. She furthered her
education at North Texas State University, earning a
bachelor's degree in education. She taught school
for decades at several grade levels, including a
time in Japan, but the majority of her educational
service was spent teaching special education at
Corsicana High School. Her patience and love for her
students and fellow faculty blessed many lives over
the years, including her own. She enjoyed traveling
with family and friends to many countries and most
states, as well as with the First Baptist Church on
mission and humanitarian outreach trips. She enjoyed
years in the singles department, Sunday School
classes, Bible studies, and the choir at First
Baptist Church. In her retirement, she was able to
travel to Europe, Alaska, and road trips across the
country with her beloved mother Maxine. However, her
most highly treasured travels were to and from
Dallas to bring the loves or her life, grandsons
Luke and Reid, cookies. She was an avid antique
collector, learning that passion from her parents.
Her handwork on family Christmas stockings and other
items will continue to be a treasure for all lucky
enough to have them. She was a passionate,
multi-talented lady who enjoyed blessing all she
could with her positivity and joy.
Sandy was preceded in death by her mother and
father, Dick and Maxine Everett, her sister Donna
Ingham, and Lee's Godmother, Alma Ruth Love. Sandy
is survived by her son, Lee Lewis, his wife Ellen,
and her grandsons Luke and Reid. She is also
survived by in-laws Jon Ed Ingham, Wayne and Ralinda
White, Vickie Simon, and their precious families.
Additionally, her "sisters- in-love" Kathy Huffman
and Jami Lovelady played an important and lasting
role in her life.
Sandy personified grace, kindness, joy and love. Her
selflessness made a positive and lasting impact on
all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First
Baptist Church of Corsicana in her honor.
Viewing will be held at Griffin-Roughton Funeral
Home on Tuesday, May 24th, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A
celebration of Sandy's life will be held on
Wednesday, May 25th at 11 a.m. at First Baptist
Church of Corsicana.
Sandy's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks
to the late doctor Kent Rogers, the Twilight Home
staff, and all of those who loved, cared for,
visited, and prayed for her during the last chapter
of her life.

Fred always read the comics because he didn't want to find himself in the obituaries. Today is his day.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "The purpose of life is to be compassionate, to have it make some difference
that you have lived & lived well." Freddie Duane Rasmussen lived life to the fullest and it had
meaning. His legacy is his family and nothing made him prouder than his family. Fred was defined by his
faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ. He was reading his Bible to the very end. His purpose in life was to
emulate Jesus Christ. Fred was a hard-working, Christian, family man. He will be missed, especially
by his loving wife, Leila, of 70 years.
Freddie "Fred" Duane. Rasmussen was born on October 10th, 1929 in Rush River, Wisconsin. His parents
were Amy Rosetta Rasmussen and Emil Hans Rasmussen. His siblings were Loretta Hall, Harold Rasmussen,
Chris Rasmussen, and Arliss George.
Fred enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1947. He was a watch repairman and chauffeur for officers in
occupied Japan.
He was married on June 22nd, 1951 to Leila Marie
Towns. They remained married for almost 71 years
after only having two dates before their marriage.
Fred & Leila were the proud parents of 4 girls, Amy,
Rose, Risa and Pattie
He was always an example of a hard worker. He worked
for the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years as a postal
carrier.
He worked many after hours jobs to provide for his
large family. When retiring from the USPS, he was
commended for accruing 1500 hours of unused leave.
Fred was a jokester, avid storyteller, and later a
writer. He accepted Jesus as his Savior in June
1952. He faithfully attended Baptist Churches for
the remainder of his life. Fred taught Sunday school
to all ages. In his later years, he taught weekly
Bible study at Heritage Oaks. He was an avid
gardener and was so happy to share food with others.
He loved playing golf with friends and family. He
had a hobby of repairing watches and clocks. He
loved genealogy and travel.
Fred and Leila were avid travelers. Fred's ancestry
was Danish, and they made several trips to Denmark.
He loved genealogy and tried to trace his Danish
relatives. The trips provided wonderful memories,
which he referred to until he passed.
Fred is survived by his four daughters and their
husbands: Amy and Ken Carr, Rose and RIck Rash, Risa
and Frank Marx and Patti and Rusell Woodall. He is
survived by his nine grandkids: Hilary (York)
Sullivan, Jon Rash, Jacob Rash, Hudson Marx, Cameron
York, Joseph Rash, Caleb Marx, Nate Woodall and
Betsy Woodall. His 12 great grandchildren Gracie
York, Stone Richter, Jackson Rash, Noah Rash, Eli
Rash, Brady Marx, Wrenley Rash, Thomas Woodall,
Isabel Woodall, Lerena Woodall, Charleigh Marx and
Abigail Marx.
The family would like to thank the staff at Twilight
Home and Mercy Hospice for their compassion, love
and wonderful care they gave our loved ones.
Fred was a faithful servant, loving husband and
father and enjoyed making people laugh. We love you,
Papaw. Please watch over us and we will see you
again.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations
to the National Kidney Foundation or the Texas
Baptist Men.
To honor Fred's life, the family has planned a
visitation for Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 5 to 7 in
the evening at Corley Funeral Home. The family will
have a private burial. |

Elizabeth Rebecca "Beth" Harvey
Dec 31, 1977 - Nov 30, 2022
ELIZABETH
"BETH"'s OBITUARY
Beth Harvey was a tenacious bulldog in pursuit of
proper treatment of her clients at The Mary Lee
Foundation, where she worked until her passing this
year. It was more than her job; these people were
her family and she will be dearly missed.
Bethie was saintly in her love for everyone, but
especially the handicapped. She was a Mighty
Advocate for their welfare. Yet she was a lifelong
lover of music, dance, painting, drumming and life
itself. She was a cherished member of Austin drum
circles and felt transported when she played.
Beth was born on a snowy New Years Eve in 1977 in
Fort Worth's Harris Hospital. She arrived with a
full head of jet black hair with dark complexion and
blue eyes. A beautiful baby who won trophies as an
entrant in a Fort Worth beauty contest, she remained
so for the rest of her too short life. Her dark
complexion lightened as she grew up, but her Choctaw
heritage was never far from her mind. Her love of
native healing, both spiritual and physical was
evident every day of her adult life.
The many tales of her exploits, too numerous to
list, will be with us even if she is not. Ask her
uncountable friends and witnesses to her power and
strength about that. They all were touched in
extremely personal ways.
She is survived by her father, Charles Harvey, her
bonus mother, Tonya Harvey, her beloved sister,
Jacqueline Abernathy, her brother-in-law, Jacob
Abernathy, and her adored nephew and niece, Owen and
Karen "Zahita", her Uncles and Aunts: Danny and
Mendonna Rogers, and George Harvey, her dear
cousins, Jamie Hamon, Russell and Ryan Rogers. Her
beloved Wolf and chosen daughter, Morganne McCann
and her God-sister, Mary Hale Lilienstern.
Her memory will always remain fresh in the minds of
her many friends and relations too numerous to
mention.
In lieu of flowers, Beth's life work would be best
honored with donations to her cherished Mary Lee
Foundation or Hospice Austin's Christopher House,
who loved Beth so well at the end. A link to them is
provided below.
Beth Harvey entered into life November 23, 2022. The
angels, her mother and all of her beloved lost were
there to receive her. May light perpetual shine on
her and may she dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.
Services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday Nov 30,
2022, at Wade Funeral Home 201 NW 3rd St., Hubbard,

Visitation begins at 11 AM. Lunch will be provided.
