Elma Marguerite (Spurlock) Cooper

Mrs. Elma Cooper of Cedar Creek Lake, and former longtime resident of Corsicana, died Aug. 15, 1989 in Athens.

Services will be 3:30 p.m. riday at the Corley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Earl d. King and the Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

She was born in Temple, Okla., and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Trinidad, and a member of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Glen Cooper of Cedar Creek Lake; one son, Mack Cooper of Corsicana; three grandchildren, Zack, Kent and Heather; two brothers, Hubert "Tiny" Spurlock of Bedford, and Robert Spurlock of Temple, Okla.; one sister, Cannie Goodwin of Temple, Okla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallberers will be Terry King, Will Hashop, Travis Coe, C.A. McCarley, Lee Chiles, and Sonny McCullough.

Mrs. Noah (Eula) Wright, 83, of Corsicana, died Aug. 27, 1989, at Navarro Regional Hospital.

Services were 10 a.m. Monday at the Corley Funeral Chapel with John P.
Shero Jr. officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.

She was born April 28, 1906 in Corsicana and was a lifelong resident of Corsicana. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Westhill. She was preceded in death by her husband, N.R. Wright, on Nov. 26 1982.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Clayton of DeSoto, Barbara Spencer of Kerens; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, J.T. Rascoe of Corsicana; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Gene McDougald, Don Bowen, Joe Glass, Fred Smith, Denver Wright, Bob Wetsell, Tommy Stringer and David Mahoney.

Honorary pallbearers are Elvin Wright and Erwin Wright.

Miller Service Set Today

Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Corley Funeral Home Chapel for Louis Miller, 59, a former resident of Corsicana, who died Thursday night in Chicago.

He had retired recently after association in the operation of the American Bulb Co.

Rabbi Harvey Wessel will officiate and interment will be in Hebrew Cemetery.

Surviving in Corsicana are an uncle, Ben Miller and several cousins; two sisters, Mrs. Jerry Nasits and Miss Pauline Miller of Tyler; and a brother, Joe Miller of Houston.

Pallbearers will be Max Rosenbloom, Jerry Roe, Joe Bell, Tom C. Curtis, Harry Dellar, Isadore Roosth, and Tony Spitzberg.

Louis Miller Death Reported

Word has been received here of the death Thursday night in Chicago of former Corsicana resident Louis Miller, about 59.

Miller, a graduate of Corsicana High School, was the son of the late Harry Miller of Corsicana. He had recently retired after many years association in business with an uncle in the operation of the American Bulb Co.

His Corsicana survivors include an uncle, Ben Miller, and a number of cousins. Additionally, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Jerry Nasits and Miss Pauline Miller, both of Tyler; and a brother, Joe Miller of Houston.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Corley's but services are slated to be held Sunday from Corley Funeral Chapel with burial in the Hebrew Cemetery.

Funeral services were scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Lloyd James Funeral Home Chapel in Tyler for Myer Franks, 70, who died Thursday in Tyler.

Graveside services were scheduled for 3 p.m. at Hebrew Cemetery in Corsicana with Corley Funeral Home officiating.

He was a native of Springfield, Ill. who spent most of his life in Tyler. He was co-manager of Tyler's K. Wolens Department Store and employe of the store for 47 years. He was a member of Temple Beth El, 32nd degree mason, member of the Tyler Lions Club and Elks B.P.O.E.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Evelyn Franks of Tyler; a son, James Franks of El Paso; a daughter, Mrs. Susan Franks Train of San Antonio; a brother Arthur Franks of Warren, Penn.; two sisters, Mrs. Max Wolens of Corsicana and Mrs. Pete Hartholz of Denison; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Louie Levy, 74, of Corsicana who died Thursday at Memorial Hospital. Rabbi Ernest Joseph and Rev. Charles Pringle officiated and burial was at Hebrew Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, L. L. Levy of Corsicana, and two nephews, Don A. Flaxman, and Louis Zeve, both of Dallas.

Pallbearers were Herb Silverberg, Lonnie Watson, Bill Graves, Dean Milkes, Max W. Rosenblum, Maurice Rosen, Morris Evans, and Jesse Childers.

He was a native of Russia and had lived in Corsicana 20 years.

Funeral services were to be at 3:30 p.m. today at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel for Arthur Levi, 89, resident of Corsicana, who died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital.
Rabbi Ernest Joseph will officiate and burial will be at Hebrew Cemetery.
He was a native of Waxahachie and had lived in Corsicana most of his life. He was a 1903 graduate of Corsicana High School and was the owner and operator of the Levi Market for over 40 years.
Survivors include his widow of Corsicana; three daughters, Mrs. Paul Ferguson of Miami Lakes, Fla., Mrs. Brooks Allen of Houston, and Mrs. Gid Neal of Sugarland; two sons, Roger Nash of Honolulu, Hawaii and Sam R. Frost of Corsicana; a sister, Mrs. Estelle Mayer of San Diego, Calif.; and a brother, Albert Levi of Brownwood.

She is survived by her husband, Hosie Cade of Corsicana; two daughters, Ada Belle Jackson of Corsicana, and Betty Lou Hicks of Sacramento, Calif.; one son, Jerry Cade of Corsicana; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Lula Westbrook of Dallas.

She was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Thelma Jewell Williams of Austin; three grandchildren; her father, R.L. Cook and stepmother, Ruby Cook of Dallas; three brothers, Robert Cook, Horace Cook, and Jerry Cook, all of Dallas; two sisters, Cami Cook and Debra Cook, both of Dallas; one aunt, Lorene Robinson of Corsicana.

Raymond McHenry, 58, of Dallas, formerly of Corsicana, died June 15, 1989, in the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Dallas.

Wake services will be 7 p.m. tonight at Ross and Johnson Mortuary Chapel. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Corsicana. Ross and Johnson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

He was a native of Corsicana, and a 1949 graduate of G.W. Jackson High School. He received his M.S. degree in education from Texas Southern University; and his M.Ed. in couseling from East Texas State University and his B.S. degree in education. He had taught school and coached in Houston ISD, Waxahachie ISD, Fort Worth ISD, and Dallas ISD. He held life certificates in counseling, high school and elementary. He was self-employed and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and American Paint Horse Association. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Audrie McHenry of Dallas; four daughters, Shirlion Emmitt and Janice Raford, both of Fort Worth, Bridgette Ellette Hill and Ramona Gaye Freeman, both of Dallas; one son, Yan Renate McHenry of Lancaster; 20 grandchildren; mother, Mrs. Alberta Kelly of Corsicana; his twin brother, Waymond McHenry of Corsicana; one sister, Gwendolyn Doris of Los Angeles, Calif.; and three aunts, Mrs. Ernestine Brooks, Mrs. Emma Lewis and Mrs Essie Massengill, all of Corsicana.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Lewis of Corsicana; two sons, Freddie Lewis of Dallas, and Willie Lewis of Fort Worth; six daughters, Osie Andrews and Hattie Albert, both of Corsicana, Geraldine Donaldson and Glenda Bluitt both of Dallas, Maggie Young of Fort Worth and Zanell Cain of Tyler; 25 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; three brothers, David Lewis of Waco, Wilson Lewis of Fort Worth and Freddie Lewis of Corsicana; four sisters, Christene Fillmore, Lucy Payne, Louella Curtis and Dovie Truitt all of Fort Worth; a number of nieces and nephews.

Walter H. Jones, veteran of World War I and retired post office employe, died Friday in the Temple VA Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Annie Laura Jones; one sister, Willie Mae Harrison; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Rufus Mark Jones Jr., 94, of Corsicana, died Jan. 2, 1991, at Navarro Regional Hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Chaney officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Scott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was a retired teacher and owner of R.M. Jones Grocery store for 65 years. He served as deacon, trustee and treasurer of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church for many years and was a member of the Corsicana Chamber of Commerce and the Corsicana Community center board.

He is survived by one son, Gerald Lobis Jones of Fort Worth; one sister, Mrs. Mamie Debose of Kilgore; and one brother, Bailey L. Jones of Corsicana.

Pallbearers will be William Jones, Otis Jones, Gerald Beal, Roscoe Jones, Claude Earnest Lollie and James Brandon.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons and trustees of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church.

Services were at 1 p.m. Monday at First Independent Baptist Church with Bro. Kennedy Young officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery. Scott Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was self-employed as the owner of Fair's Blue Heaven Sandwich Shop, was a member of the First Independent Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star, Jerusalem Chapter No. 109. Her husband A.C. Fair, preceded her in death.

Survivors included three cousins, Clayton Johnson of Oklahoma, Juanita Anderson of Palestine, Texas, and Wayland Johnson of Jacksonville, Texas; and a host of friends.

Deacons of the church and friends of the family served as pallbearers.

Ima Jean (Turns) Kattner
July 28, 1926 - July 26, 2014

Jean Kattner, 87, of Copperas Cove passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 in Copperas Cove.

Jean was born July 28, 1926 to the late Vivian and Minnie Stokes Turns in Corsicana, Texas. She graduated from Emhouse High School in 1943.
Jean married Richard C.H. Kattner on Nov. 10, 1946 in Corsicana. Jean was very involved with the American Legion Auxiliary in the State of Texas. She began her volunteer work with the Auxiliary in 1978. She was the Unit President Post 582, Past 2nd Division President, 11th District President as well as various other positions within the Division and District levels. She was a volunteer VA representative for the Department of Texas at the Temple VA Hospital for a number of years. In October of 2014, the American Legion Auxiliary Convention will honor her by dedicating the convention to her, for her years of service. Jean was also involved with the Coryell County Family Outreach Program when it was first established in Copperas Cove and with the Friends of the Library.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2010 and a grandson, Sean M. Kattner in 2012.

Mr. Charles Harl Williams was born on March 8, 1931 in Rockdale, and passed away in Corsicana on Aug. 8, 2014. During his life, he served in the U.S. Air Force, obtained his degree in electrical engineering and raised three children while living in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and Texas.

Charles "Papa" and "Grandpa Tex" Williams never had a Facebook. He said he much preferred to sit in his armchair and look at his beautiful wife Anna Williams� face. They met while square dancing and enjoyed 64 years of marriage. He taught his family the value of loyalty and hard work. After he retired in the late 90's, he continued to work as a night security guard at Russell Stover's candy factory for the next 15 years. He created a safe and positive space for his children and grandchildren to grow and could always make them laugh with his stories and expressions. We are forever grateful.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harl and Bernice Williams of Eastland; and a brother, Paul Williams.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Carroll Williams of Corsicana; his children, Michael Williams of Leesburg, Florida, Douglas Williams and wife Michelle of Severna Park, Maryland, and Sharon Bugg and husband Eric of Corsicana; his siblings, Eloise Wood and husband Alvin of Fort Worth, Joyce Thompson and husband Ron of Fort Worth, Nancy Franklin of Odessa, Elton Williams and wife Becky of Stanton, along with five grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at Corley Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at the Corley Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Rick Lamb officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Peggy Holley, 79, of Corsicana passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014. She was born Nov. 26, 1934 to Roy and Minnie Greer in Barry. She was a seamstress and retired from Haggar Slacks. She also was a very good quilter and was in many quilting magazines for her quilting work. She enjoyed gardening, painting and fishing. She was a very active person.

She is preceded in death by her husband Everett Holley in March 2014; parents Roy and Minnie Greer, brothers James Greer and Jimmy Greer.

She leaves behind two sons, Lynn Thomas; Danny Thomas and fianc� Cary Phillips; granddaughters, Lindsey Thomas and Kalyn Avery; grandson, Jason Thomas; great-granddaughters Peyton, Sierra and Sadie Thomas; and great-grandson Jaxon Avery.

Elizabeth "Betty" (Stell) Sullivan

Betty Stell Sullivan, of Austin and formerly of Corsicana passed away Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014 at South Austin Medical Center in Austin. She was a native of Corsicana and a daughter of Ralph and Kathleen Stell. She studied public school music at Texas Women's University. When she graduated from TWU in June of 1946, she received a Bachelor of Science Degree and was employed by the Corsicana Public School System where she taught at Travis Elementary School.

In 1947 she married Bruce Sullivan in the Corsicana Third Avenue Presbyterian Church. They moved to Kingsville, Texas where he was employed with Humble Oil & Refining Company (now Exxon Corp.). They had assignments in and lived in a number of locations in Texas, Louisiana, and California. In several of these locations she was a member of the Presbyterian Church choirs and served as a Sunday school teacher. In Overton and Gladewater, Texas she served as the church organists. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Corsicana, Texas.

They were living in Houston in 1983 when they retired. At that time they returned to live in Corsicana and later moved to Austin, Texas.

She is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, Bruce Sullivan of Austin; daughter and her husband, Kathleen Sullivan and Gaylon Yancy of Austin; son, Dr. Bruce Sullivan and wife Melissa Marcus of Flagstaff, Arizona; brother's wife, Kathy Stell of Kensington, Maryland; sisters-in-law, Margaret Sullivan Wilborn of Houston, Louise Sullivan and husband Jim Yancey of Dallas and Mary Irene Winniford of Dallas; brother-in-law and his wife, Dr. George and Mary Morgan Sullivan of Fort Worth; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jose A. Ruiz passed away at the Twilight Nursing Home on Thursday evening, Aug. 7, 2014. He was born Oct. 1, 1934 in Donna, Texas to Aurelie Ruiz and Olivia Cisneros.

Joe was born and raised in The Valley in south Texas. He moved to Corsicana in 1957. In 1965 he moved to San Diego and then in 1991 he moved back to Corsicana. He worked in construction work most all of his life.

He is survived by his brothers, Gilbert Ruiz of Corsicana, Mike Ruiz of Corsicana, Ray Ruiz of Corsicana, Tony Ruiz of Corsicana, Frank Ruiz of San Diego, California, Lorenzo Ruiz of Los Angeles, California and Longino Ruiz of El Paso. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Carolyn Ann (Adams) Brackeen, of Retreat, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014 with her family at her side, one day before her 71st birthday. She was born on Friday, Aug. 6, 1943 in Corsicana to Doug Adams and Mavis McCulloch Adams. Following high school she attended cosmetology school in Dallas. She married Bill Brackeen on Jan. 19, 1963 in Corsicana at the 11th Avenue Methodist Church. Carolyn was a homemaker, taking care of the home and her family was what she took pride in. She enjoyed monthly trips to Canton to look for antiques to decorate the home. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her father, Doug Adams and birth mother Mavis Adams.

She is survived by her husband of 51-plus years, Bill Brackeen of Corsicana; her mother who raised her, Evelyn Adams of Orange, Texas; children, Timothy Allan Brackeen, Jana Renee Duke and husband Chester, James Steven Brackeen and Billy Douglas Brackeen and wife Tisha, all of Corsicana. She is also survived by grandchildren Kristy and Bree Warren, Katie and Alvaro Cisneros, Kinner Reeves, Kirstie Barton, Cole Barton, Savannah Brackeen, Timothy Brackeen, Tomie Brackeen, Erica and Josh Perry; great-grandchildren Brayden Fira, Sophie Fugate, Carter, Ava and Rylan Cisneros and J.B. A Memorial library collection is being established at the Robert E. Lee Elementary School in memory of Mrs. Bufa Pritchett, who died Saturday in Denver, Colo.

Mrs. Pritchett taught first grade at the school for 20 years.

Private graveside services were held at 2 p.m. today at the Rice Cemetery in Rice for Edgar J. Womack, 78, resident of Corsicana, and owner of the Womack Peach Orchard, who died Tuesday afternoon at Memorial Hospital. Jim Lee officiated. Arrangements were with Griffin Funeral Home.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lelva Curington Womack of Corsicana; a son, John E. Womack of Denison; a daughter, Mrs. Joe E. Murphy of San Antonio; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

He was a veteran of World War 1 serving with the Oklahoma-Texas 90th Division, a hospital corpsman, and fought in battles at St. Michaels and Meuse-Argonne in 1918. He was in the clothing business in Corsicana with the Womack Brothers from 1921-1932, and was a field supervisor of Farm Credit Administration from 1935-47. He went into the peach business in 1932. He and his wife were married 54 years.

John W. Minefee Rites Monday

John W. Minefee, 50, native of Blooming Grove, Route 1, Purdon (Raleigh) died in Memorial Hospital Sunday.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. from the Fairview (Raleigh) Baptist church with burial in the Dresden cemetery.

The rites were conducted by Rev. Bruce Hibbitt, pastor of the Missionary Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. O. L. McCollum, pastor of Fairview.

Surviving are his wife of Purdon; two sons, Johnny and Donnie Minefee, both of Purdon, Route 1; five daughters, Mrs. Marie Farmer, Fort Worth; Mrs. Dorothy Grounds, Austin; Mrs. Jane Graves, Eureka; Mrs. Patsy Hanson, Michigan; and Linda Minefee, Purdon; six grandchildren; five brothers, Clinton Minefee, Houston; Paul Minefee, Arizona; Joe Minefee, Corsicana; Jesse and Bill Minefee, both of El Paso; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Lou Rawlings, Frost; Mrs. Pearl Bentley, Friona; and Mrs. Dora Catherine Hollingsworth, Irving; parents, Rev. and Mrs. W. W. Minefee, Frost and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Harvey Hollingsworth, Bud Rawlings, Dean Melton, Ralph Putman, Riley Shipman and J. W. Tune.

Survivors include four sisters, Tressie Keith and Thelma Steelman, both of Corsicana, Gloria Faulkner of Wilson, Okla.; and Dollie Roberts of Lancaster; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Dovie Thomas, 82, of Corsicana, died Aug. 1, 1989 at the Twilight Nursing Home.

Graveside service is 2 p.m. Thursday at Frost Cemetery with James T. Davis and Bro. Paul Thompson officiating. Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The funeral procession will leave at 1:30 p.m. from Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

She was born Nov. 25, 1906 in Avalon. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church. She was born in Ellis County and moved to Navarro County at an early age.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Thomas, in 1966.

Surviviors include one son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Pauline Thomas of Barry; three daughters and one son-in-law, Lorene Sykes and Betty Honea, both of Corsicana, and Francis and Pete Kendall of Purdon; one brother, Whit McMillion of Grand Saline; two sisters, Etta Galtz of Minnesota, and Tempus Miller of McQueeny, Tex.; one sister-in-law, Nettie Thomas of Arlington; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and number of nieces and nephews.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive visitors from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

KERENS - Services were to be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Paschal Funeral Home here for Hester Bateman, 72, who died Monday at Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Albert Brown will officiate with burial following at the Kerens City Cemetery.

A resident of Kerens for 42 years, Bateman was retired after working for Brown and Root and Lone Star Gas. He was a member of the Kerens Church of Christ.

Survivors include his widow, of Kerens; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Detick of Kerens and Mrs. Gloria Garron of Corsicana; three sisters, Mrs. N. H. Thompson of Kerens, Mrs. Lee Elston of Kemp and Mrs. Mamie Tankursley of Dallas; one brother, Exie Bateman of Garland and four grandchildren.

Hale, a World War II veteran and native of Ferris, died in Dallas, where he had lived for a number of years.

She was a native of Streetman, lived in Corsicana 18 years.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Trinidad for Clint Floyd, 40, resident of Trinidad who died yesterday in Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Rev. Floyd Loven of Trinidad will officiate, and burial will be at Kerens City Cemetery. Arrangements are with Paschal Funeral Home in Kerens.

He was a graduate of Kerens High School, a resident of Trinidad 15 years, an employe of Texas Power and Light Co., and served on the Trinidad Independent School District as a trustee.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Robbie Floyd of Trinidad; two daughters, Mrs. Leslie Cheatwood of Trinidad and Miss Stacy Floyd of Trinidad; his mother, Mrs. Carolyn Floyd of Dallas; and a brother, Jimmie Floyd of Dallas.

KERENS, Dec. 16 (Spl) - Mrs. Irene Stockton, life-long resident of Navarro county died in Memorial Hospital Saturday.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. from the First Baptist church with burial in the Kerens cemetery. The rites were conducted by Rev. Don Walker, pastor.

Native of Eureka, Mrs. Stockton, the widow of the late W. T. Stockton, Kerens bank president and prominent East Navarro county resident, was a member of the First Baptist church. She had resided in Kerens most of her life.

Surviving are a brother, E. M. Mahoney, Crockett; a sister, Mrs. Ben F. Stroder, Fort Worth; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were W. L. Bain, Jr.; T. L. Whorton, Jr.; Hobart Hilliard, A. B. Massey, Tom B. Washburn and Ben R. Cherry.

KERENS - Services are set for Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Paschal Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Thelma McQuary, 66, who died Tuesday in Memorial Hospital in Athens. The Rev. Grover C. Bishop will officiate, and burial will be in Kerens City Cemetery.

Mrs. McQuary was a resident of Caney City and a member of Central Baptist Church in Athens.

She is survived by her husband James Fred McQuary of Caney City; two sons, J.T. McQuary of Toledo, Ohio and Royce McQuary of Fremont, Ohio; one daughter, Mrs. W. R. Deen of Jefferson, Tex.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Janice (Ridenour) Doyle

Janice Ridenour Doyle, 77, passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for just over a year and was formerly a resident of Corsicana, Texas. She was a nurse.

Janice was born on June 12, 1937, to Fred O. Ridenour and Geneva (Pace) Ridenour in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was married to Lenford Reynolds on Nov. 25, 1958. They had three daughters together, Lynne, Jean, and Rebecca, and were married for 23 years.

Janice was fond of reading and always had at least one book that she was reading all the time. She also enjoyed her dogs and was very devoted to them. She was a member of the American Medical Technologists and the Order of the Eastern Star. She attended Navarro Junior College and received her training in Medical Technology.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Geneva Ridenour, and her cousins, Bobby, Gene, and La Rue.

She is survived by her daughters: Lynne (Greg), Jean (Wayne), and Rebecca (Clayton); her grandchildren: Sarah (Eric), Kevin, Karen, Lauren, Sean, Dylan, Meghan; her cousin, Elaine, and other numerous cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church, 1529 N.
Circle Drive in Colorado Springs on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at 2 p.m., with a reception to follow. There will be a graveside service in Corsicana, Texas, at a later date to be determined.

Memorials in Janice's name may be made to the Pikes Peak Humane Society of Colorado Springs, 610 Abbot Lane, Colorado Springs, CO 80905.

A native of Halle-ss, Germany, she had lived in Dallas since 1947. She was a retired music teacher.

She is survived by one son, Rabbi Joseph, and six grandchildren.

Funeral services for Leo Alexander Fox, 41, native of Corsicana but resident of Dallas for 15 years, who died in Dallas Monday afternoon, were held at the Hebrew cemetery here Tuesday morning at 11 o�clock where interment was made. Dr. David Lefkowitz of Dallas conducted the rites.

He had been connected with the Magnolia Petroleum company for a number of years.

Surviving are his father, Morris A. Fox and two brothers, Rudolph and Henry Fox, all of Dallas.

Pallbearers were S. A. Young, Jr., W. R. Mitchell, L. F. Walker, N. E. Jenkins, W. E. Nelton and J. R. Cobb.

Eldeania Henderson, 73, of Frost, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014 in Hillsboro.
She was born June 17, 1941, in Coffeyville, Kansas to J.B. Smith and Gladys Mertens Smith. She enjoyed to sew clothing for her grandchildren, and also enjoyed making crafts.
She is preceded in death by her parents, J.B. Smith and Gladys Robbins; and daughters, Teresa McClanahan and Orvillen McClanahan.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Bobby Henderson of Frost; one daughter, Robin A. McClanahan of Frost; four grandchildren, Orleena McClanahan Cross and husband Andrew of Brandon, Gina Rodriguez of Whitney, Rachael Rodriguez Gringer and husband Joseph of Hillsboro and Phillip Rodriguez Jr. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren.

Troy Dale Allison

Troy Allison, formerly of Corsicana, passed away in The Woodlands on Friday afternoon, Aug. 15, 2014 with his family at his side at the age of 90. Troy Dale Allison was born in Blooming Grove on March 8, 1924 to Harry E. Allison and Molly Lillian Berry Allison. He went home to be with Jesus Friday, Aug. 15, 2014 at age 90. Troy attended the Corsicana State Home until he entered the Army at age 17. He served in the 90th Division Infantry and fought in major battles of World War II, The Normandy Invasion, and Battle of the Bulge. They were called the "Tough Hombres" Texas and Oklahoma. He also returned to serve in the Korean War. He is a recipient of the Bronze Star for Bravery.

Troy is the loving father of Tommy, Troy James and Barbara and her husband Ron; the granddad of Jessica and husband Ricky, Bethany, Micah and Tillie; his great-grand children are Machala, Ricky and Laela.

Troy worked for the Railroad and then became a business owner in Houston for many years. He then moved to Corsicana where he has many friends. Later in life, Troy moved back to Spring, Texas where he lived out his years with his daughter and family. Troy had a strong faith in Jesus as his savior and was ready to leave this earth. He will be missed so much, but we know we will see him again!

Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014 at Oakwood Cemetery.

Frances Marie Campbell, 82, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014, at Dallas Regional Medical Center. Frances was born on January 19, 1932 in Telico, Texas to Frank and Idenka (Jurcek) Hubacek.
Frances worked for many years as a circuit board technician for an electronics assembly company.

Frances is survived by her son, David Campbell; and by her nephew, John Arney and his wife, Margaret, all of Dallas.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Campbell, and by her parents, Frank and Idenka Hubacek.

The Rev. Royce Turner will officiate, and burial will be at Black Hills Cemetery. Arrangements are with Corley Funeral Home.

Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Frances Bounds of Abilene; four nephews, J. L. Young of Barry, Elbert Young of Dalhart, Carl Young of Temple and Noland Young of Dumas.

WAXAHACHIE - Services were held July 16 at the Boze-Mitchell Funeral Chapel in Waxahachie for E. W. Herrin, resident of Waxahachie, who died at 9 a.m. July 14. Burial was in the Frost Cemetery.

He was married to the former Miss Jewel Brewer July 19, 1924 in Italy, Texas. They have lived in Ellis and Navarro Counties.

Survivors include his widow of Waxahachie, two sons, Paul Herrin of Forreston and Harold Herrin of Waxahachie; two daughters, Mrs. Don (Marie) Cohagan of Italy and Mrs. Billy (Melba) Strength of Waxahachie; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Homer (Mary) Whitehead of Corsicana; a brother, E. R. Herrin of Odessa; several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers were grandsons and included Charles Herrin, Randy Herrin, Freddy Bruner, Scott Strength, Brent Strength, Jimmy Herrin, Mark Herrin, Ricky Cohagan and Rennie Cohagan.

Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Corley Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Margaret Palmire, who died Monday morning. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of Immaculate Conception with the Rev. John Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Sammy J. Palmire of Dallas; one daughter, Miss Annie Palmire of Galveston; one grandson, three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Rosa Samaritano of Corsicana.

Ricky Dean Anderson

Ricky Dean Anderson, 61, passed away in Rice, Texas on Monday February 4, 2013. Ricky was born in Ennis, Texas on January 3, 1952 to Kenneth K. and Hazel L. (Sheets) Anderson. He grew up in Grapevine and Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1970. On July 31, 1999 he married Vickie Richardson Defoore and they made their home in Rice, Texas. He worked for Ennis Business Forms for over twenty years as a pressman. He served as president of the Pressmen's Union for eight years, he was a member of the Shakers and Scraper's Car Club of Corsicana and the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Corsicana. He loved and enjoyed his family and old cars. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Anderson; daughter, Brandy and her husband, Jeff Mills; granddaughter, Kyra Hatley; step0-sons; Mark Defoore, Joshua Defoore and Jacob Defoore; his parents, Kenneth and Hazel Anderson and two sisters; Beverly Hoffman and Cathy and her husband, Willie Crawley. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Anderson and brother-in-law, Tommy Hoffman. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 6 p.m until 8 p.m. in the J. E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A celebration of his life will take place on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the J. E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Interment will follow in Rice Cemetery under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

CHATFIELD, Aug. 16 - (Spl.) - Several from Chatfield were in Rice Tuesday morning for the funeral of Will Bartlett. Mr. Bartlett was the father of Mrs. W. M. Harper.

W. D. Bartlett Of Rice Dies Sunday

W. D. Bartlett, prominent Rice resident for many years, Spanish American War veteran, died in the Veterans Administration hospital at Lisbon, near Dallas, Sunday night.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the Haynie Memorial Methodist church in Rice with burial in the
Rice Cemetery.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. W. M. Harper, Chatfield and Mrs. A. D. Ellis, Rice; two grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. R. C. Norwood, Dallas and Mrs. Walter Smith, Rice and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today for Mrs. S. B. South, 77, of Rice who died Saturday at her residence in Rice. Rev. Glenn Jones and Rev. Otis Meadors officiated. Burial was in Rice Cemetery.

Mrs. South was a native of Arkansas and had lived in Rice since 1912. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She is survived by one brother, J. W. Nabors, Ennis; one nephew, James Pollan, Abilene; two nieces, Mrs. Bryan Hundley, Denton, and Mrs. Frank Mickle, Alabama.

Pallbearers were Chick Reed, Amos Harwell, Alvin Jones, Virgil Atchley, Pete Ribble and Kenneth Rawlings.

Graveside rites and burial were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Rice Cemetery for W. L. Greer, 72, Waco nightwatchman who died Sunday in Waco. The Rev. Luther Crawford, pastor of Missionary Baptist Church in Corsicana, officiated. Corley Funeral Home conducted.

He had resided in Rice for 40 years before moving to Waco 10 years ago, and was a native of Henderson county. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II.

Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Wesley Reynolds of Bardwell, Mrs. Peach Griffith of Eustace and Mrs. Eva Crow of Victorville, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. J. D. (Addie) Burdine, 89, resident of Rt. 1 Rice, who died Wednesday in Memorial Hospital. Burial will be at Rice Cemetery.

She was born June 29, 1886 in Tupelo, and was a life-long resident of the community, and daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Bowden of Tupelo.

She married J. D. Burdine in 1904. He preceded her in death June 9, 1973.

She was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church of Rice where she was a member for 75 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Alvin Jones of Tupelo; four grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Clay Fluker of Corsicana; two brothers, John Bowden of Rice and Wid Bowden of Kerens.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Mrs. Atchley, an Alabama native, had lived in Rice 63 years.
