S/Sgt. Carson A. Wilson, son of Earl and Winnie L. Wilson. Married to Jean Ray Wilson. Entered service July 29, 1942, serving in the U.S. Army. Served at Gunnery School, Las Vegas, Nevada; Low Alt. Bombing, Carlsbad, N.M.; and Armored School, Salt Lake City, Utah. Attended Corsicana High School.

GEORGE J. WILSON
Cpl. George J. Wilson, husband of the former Marie Barnes of Corsicana. Entered the U.S. Army in 1940 and had 26 months overseas in the European Theater of Operations, as a field artillery veteran. Served with the 36th Division and saw action in North Africa, Italy, France and German.

JOE A. WILSON
Sgt. Joe A. Wilson, son of Rod G. and Gussie Wilson of Dawson. Entered the U.S. Marine Corps. on April 30, 1941, training at San Diego, Calif; Camp Elliott; and Camp Pendleton, Calif. Served in the Southwest Pacific area., New Zealand, Guadalcanal. Wounded in action on Guam in Aug. 1944. Discharged Oct. 24, 1945.

LOUIS WOLENS
Major Louis Wolens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kalman Wolens of Corsicana. Married to Ann Wolens. Entered service Dec. 31, 1942, serving with the Army Air Force, Central Flying Training Command, Randolph Field, Texas. Served as an Assistant Exchange Liaison Officer and Exchane Liaison Officer. Received a Commendation from Victor H. Strahm, Brigadier Gn., commending hi for his high standard of efficiency in doing his duties. Honorably discharged Sept. 1, 1945.

HUGH L. WOOD, JR.
F.O. Hugh L. Wood Jr., son of Hugh and Nellie Stokes Wood. Graduate of Corsicana High School. Enlisted in the USAAF and received advanced pilot training at Ellinton Field where he received his Wings and became a bomber pilot. Attached to the 787th Squadron, 466 Bomb Group, USAAF, stationed in England. Made more than 20 missions. After his return to the States, he attended Texas A.& M. and was killed in a car wreck during his senior year in 1948.

  • Hugh Ruben Wood, Jr.
    Jul 24, 1924 - Nov 7, 1948
  • Hugh Rueben graduated from Corsicana High School, attended Texas A&M University and was a bomber pilot in World War II with missions over Germany. Hugh R. was killed in an automobile wreck on November 7, 1948 and is buried near his mother and grandparents at Oakwood Cemetery.

After serving as an Instructor at the School, he joined the 28th Inf., serving in the European Theater for 28 Months as Inf. Battalion Cmdr. Received 5 Battle Stars and Bronze Star Award. Honorably discharged in March 1946.
