Navarro Regional Hospital.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Central Baptist Church in Blooming
Grove with the Rev. Barry Fikes officiating. Burial will follow in
Rosehill cemetery. Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Blooming Grove
is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn Murray of Blooming Grove; one son,
Billy Joe Murray Jr., of Blooming Grove; four daughters, Tina Marie
Blevins of Arlington, Jonie Ivie of Purdon, Tina Blocato of Bedford
and Toni Cunningham of Emerson; two grandchildren; one
great-grandchild; one brother,
Nelson Murray of Mexia; one sister, Frances Shults of Purdon.

Washington; her sister, Evelyn Wright of Dallas; two grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Owen was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Wynn.

She was born Feb. 12, 1909 in Mt. Pleasant to William Meek and Rosa
Ella Page. She was a school teacher for many years in Titus County
and in Dallas schools. She was a member of Westminister Presbyterian
Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Fleetwood Page;
and sisters, Buena Page and Vessie Page.
Survivors include her brother, Ralph E. Page of Blooming Grove, one
niece and two nephews.

Guss A. Patterson, 69, retired Texas Highway Engineering department
employe, 616 North Main street, died in Memorial hospital early
Tuesday morning.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. from the Central
Baptist church in Blooming Grove with burial in the
Rose Hill Cemetery.
The rites will be conducted by Rev. Bruce Hibbitt, pastor of the
Missionary Baptist church; Rev. A. F. Sanders, pastor of the First
Baptist Church in Blooming Grove, and Rev. Bob Northcutt, pastor of
the Central Baptist Church in Blooming Grove.
Patterson was a member of Missionary Baptist Church here and was a
member of the Central Baptist Church in Blooming Grove for 50 years
before uniting with the local church. He was a 32 degree Mason,
holding membership in the Blooming Grove lodge, was a Shriner, past
master and a past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Emma Lee Patterson, Corsicana; two
sons, G. W. Patterson, Blooming Grove, and J. W. Patterson, Dallas;
eight grandchildren, five3 sisters, Mrs. Ida Smith, Slaton; Mrs. J.
W. Green, San Angelo; Mrs. Clarence King and Mrs. Ruby Boyd, both of
Fort Worth, and Mrs. George Green, Blooming Grove and other
relatives.
Masons will have charge of the graveside rites.
Pallbearers will be Ewing Woodall, Floyd Armstrong, Bryan Denn, W.
A. Haden, Drew Gillen and Lloyd Simpson.

Born, November 24, 1876 in Blount County, Ala., Burns resided in the
Frost community for years before moving to Corsicana.

Corsicana; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Smith, Tomball; and several nieces,

Funeral services for John W. Burns, 77, retired Bethlehem Supply
Company employe, who died at his home, 1216 West Twelfth avenue,
Monday night, were held from the Corley Chapel Wednesday at 2 p.m.

A native of Alabama, Burns resided in the Frost area prior to moving

homemaker and moved to Marshall from Corsicana. She was a member of
the First Baptist Church of Marshall and was active in her Sunday
school class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude E. Taylor, in 1969,
and her son, C. D. "Bud" Taylor in 1986.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Rubye Nell Taylor and
John Barr of Longview; one daughter-in-law, Marie Taylor of
Marshall; five grandchildren, Jennifer Taylor Dimmitt and Nancy

Texas College in Tyler and had taken advanced studies at Prairie
View A&M University, North Texas and East Texas State University and
Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science. She and her husband, I.W.
Brown, owned and operated Brown's Mortuary in Malakoff. She was a
member of Friendship Baptist Church in Cross Roads. Retired Teachers
Association American Business and Professional Women, Rose City
Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, president of the Housing
Authority in Malakoff, Friends of the Library and the Toast Masters
Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, I.W. Brown.
Survivors include, one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and
Jacquleine Brown of Malakoff; two sisters, Navelle Williams and
Willie Mae Westbrook; one brother, Paul Carroll; two
brothers-in-law, Joe Westbrook and Norton Cloud, of Ft. Worth; three

Mrs. Wilson died Sunday afternoon at her residence after a long
illness.
She was born Aug. 29, 1920, in Navarro County to Lawrence and Lucy
Ann Blackmon McManus and had been a resident of Athens most of her
life.
She was a Baptist and worked in ceramics for 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence McManus. She was
active in Girl Scouts as a Girl Scout leader.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Lloyd Lee and Judy
Wilson and Bobby Ray and Sherry Wilson; daughter and son-in-law,
Ruth Ann and Tommy Durden; mother, Lucy McManus; two brothers,
Chester McManus and William Henderson, all of Athens; 12
grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; a nephew and a niece.

Lane, Tyler, Texas 75703.

He was born Sept. 20 1901 in Equilla, Texas. He had lived in Eurrie
and Corsicana. He was a former rancher and oilman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willetta Magness Johnson.
He is survived by three sons, Racy Jack Johnson Jr. of Cleburne,
Olin Kemp Johnson of Kemp and Truman Clyde Johnson of Granbury; one
daughter, Becky Sue Tyer of Kemp; 11 grandchildren; and 20
great-grandchildren.

Ernest Gordon Lucas, 80, of Trinidad, died Dec. 26, 1993, at his
residence.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Griffin-Roughton
Funeral Home with Father Dennis Smart officiating. Burial will be
Mankin Cemetery in Trinidad at Cedar Creek Lake. Family will receive
visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
He was born Jan. 24, 1913 in Norwalk, Conn. He moved to Corsicana in
1948, where he was an executive and vice president of Miller
Brothers Hat Company for 28 years. He retired to Cedar Creek Lake,
Trinidad in 1976.
He is survived by his wife, Verna Catherine Lucas of Trinidad; two
sons and daughters-in-law, Pete and Martha Lucas of Freeport and
Mark Lucas of Trinidad; one daughter and son-in-law, LTC Ronnie and
Soo Soo Rhoads of Fla.; one sister, Eleanor Lucas of Norwalk, Conn.;
and two grandchildren.

Graveside services were held in Edmonds at 230 p.m. Tuesday, Dec.
28, and a memorial service was held at 3:30 p.m. at Esperance
Baptist Church of that city.
He was a former resident of Corsicana and is survived by his wife,
Hazel, of Edmonds.
A memorial service for Mr. Copeland will be held in Corsicana in
Mid-January with time and place to be announced later.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist

in Wortham is in charge of arrangements.
She was born July 10, 1914, in Navarro County. She was a secretary
in the public school system and a member of the First United
Methodist Church in Wortham.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Bounds, on Sept. 13,
1993.
Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie Ann Flynn of Westbrook,
Conn.; two sisters, Edith Story of Port Neches, Texas, and Grace
McReynolds of Wortham; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brad McReynolds, Jerry Dvorak, James Black, Mack
Strange, Pete Willard and Arnold Keeling.

Survivors include six daughters, Lottie L. James of Corsicana,

Hospital in Waco.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Marshall & Marshall Chapel
in Hillsboro. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery in Mertens.
He was born Oct. 26, 1934 in Emmet, Texas in Navarro County. He grew
up in the Mertens area. After high school he moved to Ft. Worth and
worked for Johnny Johnson Tire Company and later worked for Worth
Food Market for 14 years before moving to Hillsboro in 1966 where he
worked for Frito Lay until his death. He was married to Barbara
Waits in 1954 and was a member of the First Baptist Church in
Hilsboro.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Pearson in 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ballew of Hillsboro; his mother,
Carmel Ballew of Mertens; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Steve
Crabtree of Burleson; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Randy Ballew
of Hillsboro and Richard and Vicki Ballew of Ft. Worth; one brother,
Buddy Ballew of Mertens; two sisters, Patsy Watson of Mertens and
Nancy Hooser of Frost; and eight grandchildren.

the Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 3, 1924, in Corsicana. He lived in Corsicana since
1961` and was a regional director for the Great American Reserve
Insurance Co. He was a member of the Noonday Baptist Church, and he
served in Europe in the U.S. Army during
World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Ellett of Lake Palestine; one son,
James N. Ellett Jr. of Santa Ana, Calif.; two daughters and a son-inlaw,
Sue Green and Claire and Leonard Leifer, all of Tyler; one sister
and brother-in-law, Betty and R.B. Moore of Pasadena; and four
grandchildren, Lori, Cody and Libby Leifer and Ty Green, all of
Tyler.

Sonny Ellett
Services for James N. "Sonny" Ellett, 68, Lake Palestine,
relative ao a Tyler resident, were scheduled for 3:30 p.m. today at
Lloyd James Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Terry Blankenship

Mr. Ellett died Monday in a Tyler hospital.
He was born Dec. 3, 1924, in Corsicana to James I. Ellett and Ethel
Ware, and had lived in the Tyler area since 1961. Mr. Ellett was a
U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was a member of Noonday
Baptist Church. He was a member of I.O.O.F.
Mr. Ellett was employed with Great American Reserve where he began
in personal production. He became a unit manager in 1960, assistant
manager in 1961m branch manager and was the Regional Director when
he retired in 1988. He has served as past president of the
Tyler Life Underwriter's Association and was a member of GAMA.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Ellett, Lake Palestine, one son,
James N. Ellett Jr., Santa Ana Ca.; two daughters and a son-in-law,
Sue Green, Tyler, and Claire and Leonard Leifer, Tyler; one sister
and brother-in-law, Betty and R. B. Moore, Pasadena; four
grandchildren, Lori Leifer, Cody Leifer, Libby Leifer and Ty Green;
all of Tyler.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Walter Johnson, Bill Hilliard, Bob Sanders,
Bob Starnes, Ron Dudley and John Justice.

as steward. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was born June 11, 1905, in Mertens, and grew up in the Mertens
area. She was a homemaker and a resident of Corsicana for the past
50 years. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dudley Patterson;
two sisters, Winnie Dunaway and Clemmie Keathley; and a brother, Jim
Jetton.
Survivors include a niece, Latrelle d. Sommers; a nephew, Frank M.
Keathley; a great-niece, Carolyn Sommers; and five great nephews,
Frank Keathley Jr., David Keathley, Hoyle Sommers, John Sommers and

breast cancer. Jean was born July 23, 1940 in Milwaukee,

She is survived by her husband, John, and children, Debbie,
Cindy, and Mark and six grandchildren.

Bama Banks Miller, 88, of Malakoff, died Dec. 22, 1993, in Cedar
Lake Nursing Home.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday in the Methodist Church at
Trinidad. The Rev. Steve Goad officiated. Burial was in the
Kerens Cemetery under the direction of Paschal Funeral Home in Kerens.
She was a member of the Methodist Church in Trinidad and had served
as the city secretary in Trinidad for many years. She also worked
for the Trinidad schools system.
Survivors include three nieces, Carolyn Burgner, Mary Lois Phillips
and Rosalie Keathley, all of Mexia one great-nephew; seven
great-nieces; four great-great nieces; and three great-great
nephews.
Pallbearers were Bennie King, Mark Moore, Frank Antley, Roy
Stanfield, Bud Anderson and Tim Minatree.

Richard
Mack "Ricky Mac" Williams, 79, of Corsicana, passed away
Friday, March 29, 2013 while in the company of family
members at Twilight Home Nursing Home in Corsicana.
Richard was born in Waco on Jan. 11, 1934, the son of the
late Minnie Lee Eunice McKinney Williams and Clyde Franklin
Williams.
Richard served honorably in the United States Air Force from
1954 to 1957. He served and protected as a Police Officer
for a total of 44 years, most of them with the Dallas Police
Department, Ellis County Sheriff's Department, Ennis Police
Department, Ennis ISD Officer and Corsicana ISD. Richard
became a Detective for Henry Wade, District Attorney and
then became a Private Detective when he was 70. He loved to
farm. On June 1, 1999 Richard married Barbara Joyce Rudd in
Tyler. He was a member of Trinity Assembly of God in
Corsicana. Richard was a wonderful husband, father,
grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all that knew
and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Richard is survived by his wife of 13 years, Barbara Joyce
Williams; one son, Billy Williams and wife Jennifer of Mt.
Pleasant; daughters Lucy Kent and fiancé Bart Dunaway of
Corsicana, Peggy Batchler and husband Will of Ferris, Teresa
Foster and husband Kevin of Mt. Pleasant, and Valorie
Williams of Worthington, Penn. Richard is also survived by
four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of
friends.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6,
2013 at Trinity Assembly of God, 109 FM 2452 in Corsicana,

Mr. J. W. Duren is in receipt of a letter from Austin saying that
Alex M. Crossland Died April 5th in the Confederate Home and was
buried there. Mr. Crossland lived here at one time and will be well
remembered particularly by his old comrades-in-arms. He enlisted
here in Capt. Winkler's Co., Hood's Texas brigade, served through
the entire war surrendering with Mr. Duren, Dr. Mills and others at
Appomattox. His comrades pronounce him a brave and loyal soldier.

Thursday, April 4, 2013 in Austin. He was born in Irving on June 21,
1975 to parents Michael Eugene and Sarah Mae Yancey McCoy.
He was a
1993 honor graduate of Corsicana High School. He graduated
from the University of Texas in Austin in 1998. He was employed at
Triple Crown Consulting, LLC in Austin.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Huron Eugene
and Lucille McCoy, and his maternal grandmother, Iva D. Yancey.
He is survived by his parents, Michael and Sarah McCoy of Corsicana;
sister, Tiffany Leigh Zachary and husband Leigh; nephew, Hayden West
Zachary, and a niece, Abigail Lila Zachary of The Woodlands, as well
as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on
Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Corley Funeral Home.

Alvin Wrinkle, age 78, of Corsicana passed away Tuesday,

2013 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. He was born June
27, 1934 in Corsicana to parents, W. L. and Eunice Wrinkle.
He lived his entire life in Corsicana, and graduated from
Corsicana High School. After high school he started roofing
with his dad, and continued roofing along with other general
contracting work to provide well for his family. He was a
member of Westhill Church of Christ. He married the love of
his life, Barbara Schulte on Oct. 22, 1955.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W. L. and Eunice
Wrinkle.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Wrinkle;
daughters, Belinda Acock and husband Billy, and Brenda Stark
of China Spring; son, Joe Wrinkle and wife Angela of
Garland; granddaughters, Mindi Comeaux and husband Adam of
Wylie, Deanna Ybarra and husband Daniel of Bosqueville, and
Erin Wrinkle of Garland; grandsons, Eric Wrinkle of Garland,

Doris Christene Melton, 86, of Irving, died Thursday, March
28, 2013 in Lewisville.
Born on a white Christmas morning on her parents farm, Doris
Christene Melton, “Tene” to her friends, came into the world. She
had 11 brothers and sisters. She attended Frost High where she was a
cheerleader. She married her best friend Syble's cousin while he was
home on leave from World War II. She was 17 years old. Ethan and
Christene were stationed in Charlotte, N.C. until the War was over.
She was very homesick being away from her big family. They moved to
Oak Cliff where their son David was born in 1949. Daughter Chrisanne
followed in 1952. The family moved to Irving in 1953. Ethan and
Christene both worked in Grand Prairie for LTV. Christene was a PBX
operator at LTV. She later worked at Scotty Alluminum Products where
she retired in 1991. Christene and Ethan lived in the same house on
Lawrence Street for over 50 years. They attended Plymouth Park
Baptist Church for five decades.
Christene will always be remembered for her good deeds. Always
taking care of others, especially when they were sick, or their
spirits were broken. She so loved her trips with her church JOY
group. After she retired she traveled the country with her husband
Ethan's only brother, Big Irv, and his wife Jean. Christene loved to
cook, laugh, play dominos, and had a passion for shopping. She so
loved her Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks!
She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ethan W.
Melton.
She is survived by son, David Melton and wife Lucy; daughter
Chrisanne and her Four Star Husband, Jeff Lanier; grandchildren,
Kealey Melton, Casey Melton and his wife Natalie, Morgan Rochas and
her husband Jaime Rochas; great-great grandchildren include Donovan,
Kobe, Sydney and Presley. She is also survived by her brother,
Ramsey Fields and his wife Joyce; and many other cousins and family
members.
A special thanks to the wonderful women at Cimmaron House in
Lewisville for all their love and care during her lengthy illness.
Funeral service is 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Plymouth Park
Baptist Church, 1714 North Story Road, Irving, Texas 75061 with

Corsicana at the age of three and lived there throughout his
childhood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Mitchell Prowell,
and sister Elizabeth Catherine (Prowell) Fancher.
He is survived by wife Beverly; daughters Laura Jean French, Kelly
Elizabeth Prowell, Brandi Nicole Nanez, and son Michael Lee; brother

hall of the First United Methodist Church, at 107 S. College
Street, Malakoff. Everyone will proceed to the graveside
service to be held at 11 a.m. at the Malakoff Cemetery with
Bro. Charles Kimble officiating.

Milton
Lee Porter, 70, of Midland passed away Monday, March 18,
2013.
He was born Monday, Nov. 30, 1942 in Pelham to Robert Lee
Porter and Etta Jess McMullan. He served in the Navy from
1962 to 1968. In 1965 he married his sweetheart Jodie
Porter. Milton owned his own landscaping business.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry
Porter.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 47
years, Jodie Porter; sons, Julius Watson and wife Audrey of
Big Spring, Kenneth Watson of Midland, Milton Porter, Jr. of
New York, N.Y. and Robert Porter and wife Lillian of
Midland; daughters, Rosie Scott and husband Shawn of Midland
and Pamela Coleman and husband Ceromie of Midland; brothers,
Kenneth Porter and wife Juana of West Covina, Calif. and
Leonard Porter and wife Kolisha of Odessa; sisters, Patricia
Porter and Kathy Porter both of Midland; uncle, J.B. Porter
and wife Katherine of Pelham; aunt, Katherine Thomas of
Midland; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He
also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He will lie in state at Ellis Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 9
p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013.
A funeral service has been scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday,
March 23, 2013 at Greater St. Luke A.M.E., 401 S. Adams,
Midland, with Pastor James Greene officiating. Interment
will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. |

Dorothy June (Sayles) Bouwman

Dorothy
June (Sayles) Bouwman passed away Monday, March 25, 2013, in
Corsicana following an extended illness at the age of 94.
She was born June 6, 1918, in Pine Township, Mich., to Leroy
Sayles and Emma (Petersen) Sayles.
She graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville,
Mich., and worked for Kemp Insurance in Greenville for
several years. She met her husband, R. Ivan Bouwman, in
Greenville and they married July 3, 1941.
She was an active member of the Congregational Church there
and also was an active volunteer in her children's schools
and was a member of the Thalia Club.
In 1962, she and her family moved to Ft. Smith, Ark. In
1967, the family moved to Dallas, where she and Ivan would
live for over 30 years. She was an active member of the
Northminister Presbyterian Church. She was an award-winning
sales associate for 15 years for Sanger-Harris. She and Ivan
traveled extensively after their retirement and enjoyed
their many friends. She and Ivan were both volunteers at a
charitable clothing distribution center in Dallas. They
celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2001.
Dorothy was devoted to her family, was an excellent cook,
homemaker and seamstress. Later in life one of her greatest
pleasures was making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls which she
shared with close family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, by her brother,
Cyril Sayles, sisters Edna Petersen, Anna Winchell and Rita
Ball. She was the last surviving grandchild of Dr. C. C.
Sayles, a prominent local physician and community activist
of Langston, Mich.
Survivors include a son, Robert Bouwman; daughters Katherine
Rudel and husband Larry; and Barbara Honea; grandsons Brian
Rudel and wife Sheri; John Rudel and wife, Cindee; David
Rudel; Kyle Honea; and Scott Honea and wife Carol; seven
great-grandchildren; Connor and Mason Rudel; Rawley, Ryan
and Ruby Rudel; and Dylan and Dominic Honea, and several
nieces and nephews, as well as dear friend and caregiver
Shirley Jones.
Dorothy was a very caring mother, grandmother, wife, sister
and friend, whose memory will be cherished by all those she
touched.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at
Corley Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held at Riverside Cemetery,
Langston, Mich., at a later date and time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American
Parkinson's Disease Association at 8330 Meadow Road, Dallas,
Texas 75231, the White Rock Center of Hope at 10021A Garland
Road, Dallas, Texas 75218, or the charity of choice.
