THOMAS FLETCHER STEVENSON
2nd Lt. Thomas Fletcher Stevenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Stevenson of Frost. Husband of the former Mildred Goodman of Mertens. Graduate of Frost High School. Entered service March 5, 1942. Assigned to Army Medical Corps, training at Camp Barkley, Texas. Served at New Guinea, the Philippines and the occupation of Japan. Received direct Field Comm. Feb 24, 1945. His Company, 411 Medical Collecting, was awarded the Meritorious Service Unti Plaque for outstanding devotion to duty of exceptionally difficult tasks. Discharged Feb. 2, 1946.

WILLIAM EDGAR "W.E." STEVENSON
T/Sgt. William Edgar (W.E.) Stevenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Stevenson of Frost. Graduate of Frost High School, attended N.T.S.T.C., Denton. Inducted into the service April 7, 1942, assigned to Army Air Force training at Harlingen, Texas and Wendover Field Utah. Served in the European Theater as radio operator on Liberator Bomber in battles of S. France Normandy and Germany. Engaged in the D-Day invasion. Received the Air Medal with 3 cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross, American Defense Ribbon. Discharged Sept. 18, 1945.

DANIEL A. STORY
Lt. Col. Daniel A. Story, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sid P. Story. Husband of Lavita Love Story.  Graduate of Corsicana High School and attended Texas A. & M. Volunteered as Flying Cadet in Oct. 1940.  Commissioned 2nd Lt. and awarded Pilot Wings in Feb. 1942.  Served as a Pilot of B-24 in 98th Bomb Gp. Flew 26 missions. Captured and was a POW from Feb. 1942 til April 1945. Stayed in Air Force and retired in May 1961. Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal.

JOHN R. STRODER
S 1st Class John R. Stroder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stroder of Big Spring former Corsicana residents, and grandson of Mrs. J.H. Stroder of Corsicana. Entered the U.S. Navy in Feb. 1944, training at San Diego, Calif. Served on Palau Island. Employed by Air Activities of Texas at Corsicana Field prior to joining the Navy.

Capt. H. R. Stroube, Jr., son of H. R. and Mary Stroube of Corsicana. Husband of the former Mary Ann Gillespie. Graduate of Corsicana High School, Phillips Academy and Yale Univ. Served with the Army Communications System in the Pacific on Saipan, Tinian, and Guam. Received a Unit Citation.

Jack A. Stroube, son of H. R. and Mary Stroube of Corsicana.  Husband of the former Winkie Pierce of Corsicana.  Graduate of Corsicana High School, Phillips Exeter Academy and Yale Univ. Entered service in Dec. 1942, training at Gadsden, Ala. Attended Georgetown Univ. in Washington, D.C. to study to be a German interpreter. Spendt a year and half in the European Theater stationed in England, France and Germany.

Capt. Clyde S. Stroud, Jr., Medical Corps, U.S. Navy Retired, served from April 1942 and July 1970.  Assignments included duty with the Pacific and Atlantic Fleets, hospitals in the U.S. and in Japan and at the U.S. Naval Academy. Son of Clyde S. and Emily Wills Stroud. Husband of the former Mariella Burke of Corsicana.

Shipped overseas on the USAT "Sea Barb" with the Co. B. 594th Eng. Boat and Shore Reg. Served at New Guinea, Philippines Lib. New Britain, Luzon and Japan. Received citations and campaign Medals for the Asiatic-Pacific and Southwest Pacific.

T/4 Luther V. Tanner, son of Luther V. and Onus Tanner of Barry. Husband of the former Jeanette Gibson. Entered service Feb. 16, 1944. Served as an automotive mechanic in the U.S. Army. Attended Motor Course Armored School, Ft. Knox, Ky. He was a Rifle Sharpshooter, and received the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and Victory Medal. Honorably discharged Nov. 16, 1945.

AMM 2/C O.K. Tate, son of Louie and Ollie McCallister Tate. Husband of the former Janice Culberson. Joined the US. Navy Nov. 11, 1942. Attended Radio School, served with the Lighter Sn. #28 at North Island, San Diego, Calif. Served on the USS Chinnango (air-craft carrier) for duty in the Pacific. Served at Tarawa, near New Guinea, Guam, Saipan, Philippines, and Okinawa. After Peace signed went to Nagasaki, Japan, to pick up some 1800 POWs. Discharged in Nov. 1945.

JOHN CORLEY "KAY" TATUM
Capt. John Corley (Kay) Tatum, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Liston, Tatum. Volunteered for flight trng. in Jan. 1942 and received "wings" and commission in 1943. Trained at Randolph Field and became a twin-engine instructor at Lackland AFB, Waco. Served with Air Trans. Command, with the 1333 AFB Unit in Chabua, India. He flew "the Hump" from India to China. Discharged in Jan. 1946.

Sgt. Major John Frederick Taylor, son of Fred H. and Robert Blackmon Taylor. Graduate of Corsicana High School and Texas A. & M. Husband of the former Margaret Jane Jackson. Entered service Oct. 23. 1944, training at Ft. Francis E. Warren, Cheyenne, Wyo. Served 17 Months overseas in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Oper. with the 2nd Inf. Bn. Discharged Aug. 2, 1946.
