Sudie Lois Moore, 85, of Corsicana passed away Thursday, March 30, 2000, in Corsicana.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. David Carroll officiating. Interment will follow at
Dresden Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jim Cooley, Toby Harwell, David Harwell Jr., Mike Massarelli, Dustin Moore, Lance Moore, Shane Moore and Paul Wise.
Mrs. Moore was born Feb. 1, 1915 in Cryer Creek. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She was a wonderful mother and loved her
family and church very much.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Z. B. "Rusty" Moore.
Mrs. Moore is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and David Harwell of Rice; sons and daughters-in-law, Buford and Jan Moore of Corsicana, Joe and
Glenda Moore of Longview and Gene and Johnetta Moore of Poetry; brother and sister-in-law, Damon and Margie Holditch of Bullard; sister-in-law, Leora
Holditch of Corsicana; grandchildren, Stefanie Gilman and husband Doug of Spring, Toby Harwell and David Harwell Jr. and wife Tamara, all of Rice, Janna
Massarelli and husband Mike of Corsicana, Dustin Moore of Garland, Lance Moore and Shane Moore, both of Longview, and Sally Wise and husband Paul of Kingwood;

Beatrice Moore, 85, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001 at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
The celebration of life will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Farley Street Baptist Church in Waxahachie with Brother Richard Smith and Brother Jack McDaniel officiating.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Corsicana.
Mrs. Moore was born Sept. 30, 1915 in Navarro County to Luther and Eva (Gann) Wood. She was reared and educated in Corsicana. She married John Patrick Moore
Sept. 25, 1932 in Hill County. She moved to Waxahachie in 1960. She was a member of Farley Street Baptist Church and the Mary Sunday School Class. She was
employed by Trinity Pharmacy and later as a retail clerk for Bealls Department Store for 15 years. She loved her church, her family and her grandchildren.
Mrs. Moore is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Donna Moore of Waxahachie and Ricky Dan and Chany Moore of La Porte; daughter and
son-in-law, Joyce and Jim Roy Brown of Corsicana; brothers, Weldon Wood of Stanford and Bobby Dan Wood of Cedar Creek; 10 grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.

Elaine Bounds Moore, 40, of Wortham, passed away Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000 in Marshall.
Services were 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Wortham with the Rev. Martha Bessac officiating. Interment followed at Wortham Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Doug Allen, Jimmie Moore, Brent Jones, Shawn Lippe, David Latham and John David Latham.
Mrs. Moore was born April 14, 1960, in Fort Stockton. A registered nurse and graduate of Wortham High School, Navarro College and MCC where she received her
RN degree, she was a home health care nurse. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Wortham and a member of Order of the Eastern Star.
She was also a permit holder in the Women's Professional Rodeo Association and competed in rodeos around the state.
She was preceded in death by her mother, LaWanda Bounds.
Mrs. Moore is survived by husband, Jerry "Buddy" Moore Jr. of Wortham; daughter,
Jennifer Lea Moore of Kaufman and fiance Eli Thompson of Kaufman; father and stepmother, Johnny and Geneva Bounds of Killeen; sister and brother-in-law,
LaNell and David Latham of Tatum; and niece and nephew, John David and Lauren Latham of Tatum.

She died Saturday, June 26, 1999, in Lubbock.
She was born Aug. 9, 1999 {1919}, in Corsicana. She married Floyd Moore on Feb. 5, 1932, in Lovington, N.M. He died Feb. 4, 1992.
She moved to Los Angeles, Calif., in 1941 and moved back to Lamesa in 1971. She was a member of Crestview Baptist Church for 25 years.
Survivors include two sisters, Cladie Ruth Nix and Vaundane Guinn, both of Lamesa; and three brothers, C.P. Guinn of Lamesa, and Chester Guinn and Elmer
Guinn, both of Van Buren, Ark.

Mrs. Moore was born Aug. 10, 1909 in Wortham. She was a homemaker.

Mr. Morgan died Sept. 15, 2000, at his residence in Mabank.
He was born May 5, 1927, in Corsicana, to Welton L. and Ruth Grace Peavey
(House) Morgan. Mr. Morgan married Mary M. McEwen, in Dallas, Sept. 2, 1980 and retired from Coca-Cola U.S.A. after 31 years. He served in the U. S. Navy during
World War II and was a member of the American Modelers Association. Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Survivors include; wife of 20 years, Mary Morgan of Mabank; daughters, Stephnie Cherise Ford of Houston, Darlene O. Skipworth of Bridgeport, Ill., Kimberly G.

Larry W. Morris, 72, of Fairfield passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2001 in Tyler.

Mr. Morris was born Feb. 5, 1929 in Hardiman County. He was retired from the
U.S. Army, having served from 1946 to 1966. He was also a prisoner of war for two and one-half years in Korea. He was retired from the U.S. Post Office.

Henry N. "Moon" Mullins, 83, of Mount Calm passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2000 at a Waco hospital.

Mr. Mullins was born June 7, 1917 in Tahoka. He retired in 1981 after serving as
the postmaster of the Malone post office for 20 years. Mr. Mullins married his second wife, Annie Florence Jones, in 1987. He was a member of the Central
Baptist Church in Malone and also attended the First United Methodist Church of Malone. He helped establish the Cottonwood Cemetery Association and served in it
for many years. He was a Army sergeant in World War II veteran and a member of
the Hubbard Masonic Lodge No. 530.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Goodwin Mullins, in 1983.
Mr. Mullins is survived by his wife, Annie Florence Jones Mullins of Mount Calm; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jerry Hugo of Leroy; brothers Loyd
Mullins of Irving and Bob Mullins of Sinton; sister Marie Tyler of Hurst; granddaughters Sherri and husband Tim Barrett of Woodway and Terri Hugo of

Charles E. Murphey
Charles E. Murphey, 74, of Corsicana passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2001 at
Navarro Regional Hospital.
Services will be 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church Family Life Center, with
the Rev. B.F. Risinger Jr. and the Rev. Alvis Bell officiating. Interment will follow at Rice Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his county agent friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons fo First Baptist Church of Corsicana, his hunting buddies and the
Bellville July 4th Slumber Club.
Mr. Murphey was born March 9, 1927 in Corsicana. After graduating from Rice High
School in 1945, he served in the U.S. Navy. After his service duty, he graduated
from Navarro College and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University and his Masters of Education from Texas A&M University. He served the
state as a county extension agent for 31 years, 28 of which were in Bellville (Austin County). He started his extension career in Edna (Jackson County) in
1951 and transferred to Bellville in 1954. He retired in 1982 and worked as a substitute teacher in the Bellville Independent School District for five years
before returning to Corsicana.
He was always active in his community. He served as a deacon at First Baptist
Church in Rice, Bellville and Corsicana. He was a past director of the Bellville Chamber of Commerce, the Bellville Lions Club and the Austin County Fair
Association. He was president of the Austin County Fair Board and while on the board was the livestock superintendent for many years. He also volunteered his
time on the tourism committee of the Corsicana Chamber of Commerce. He was elected as an honorary life member of the Austin County Fair Board or Directors
in 1982. He served approximately 34 years in many capacities of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lillie Murphey; and brother, Joe Murphey.
Mr. Murphey is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joanne Murphey of Corsicana; daughters, Pattie Murphey Lucas and husband Tom of Houston and Molly Murphey
Boyd and husband Mack of Ennis; son, Mike Murphey and wife Susan of Houston; grandchildren, Thomas and Joanna Lucas and Michael and Morgan Murphey, all of

Billy J. "Bill" Murphy, 75, of Corsicana passed away Monday, July 16, 2001 in Corsicana surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy battle with
Alzheimer's disease.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Corley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Williams officiating. Interment will follow at
Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.
Mr. Murphy was born Jan. 3, 1926 in Eureka to Luther and Clara Murphy. He went
to work at an early age doing manual labor. He worked at a variety of jobs, including being employed by the Cotton Mill Warehouse, Bethlehem Steel and Oil
City Ironworks. He eventually gained employment as a roustabout at the Coffield and Guthrie Oil Company, working there for approximately 15 years. In the 1970s,
Mr. Murphy and his son started a dirt contracting company and Mr. Murphy ended his working career by being employed by Navarro County Precinct 1 and 3 from
1981 to 1987.
He married Vera Budai in 1943 and raised two children, Gowan and Billie. After
retiring, Mr. Murphy enjoyed going to the coffee shop several times a day, visiting with friends and tending to his cattle. He will be dearly missed by
those whose lives he touched in his special way and remembered for the kind caring ways he always showed his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ray in 1996.
Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Vera Murphy of Corsicana; son,
Gowan Murphy of Corsicana; daughter, Billie Weatherby of Palestine; granddaughter, Courtney Murphy of New York, N.Y.; grandson, Wade Weatherby of
Jacksonville; sister, Geneva Berry of Kerens.

Charles R. Norman was born Oct. 25, 1914, in Chatfield, to Charles W. Norman and Hattie Mitchell Norman. The Rev. Charles Norman was the assistant pastor of Anderson Street Baptist
Church at the time of his death. Prior to his affiliation at Anderson Street, he served in pastoral positions in Fort Worth and Ovilla. He retired from Swift & Company after working there for 20 years. His work
history also included ten years of employment with the Fort Worth Independent School District and five years with Tandy Corp. of Fort Worth.
He met and married Mattie Hannie, and to this union, four children were born.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie; his parents; and his sisters, Iola

Mr. Osborne was born Sept. 23, 1912 in Emmett to Anderson and Minnie Watts Osborne. He was a resident of Dawson for over 50 years. He was an Army veteran
of World War II. He owned and operated a trucking/transport company for many
years, and he enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Dawson.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nona Fae Osborne of Corsicana; sister, Ernestine Herrell of Coldspring; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many loved
ones.

Mr. Otto was born to Carl A. and Helen McKenzie Monroe Otto on Dec. 28, 1939 in Auckland, New Zeland. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. He was a truck
driver for 31 years. For the last eight years he worked at Williamhouse. Formerly he was a member of the Corsicana Police Officers Reserve for 19 years,
where he served one term as chief. He was also a member of the Corsicana Emergency Corps for 20 years, where he also served one term as chief.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Joles Otto of Corsicana; son Scott Otto of The Woodlands; daughter Sandra Kristine and husband Richard Scott Butler of
Corsicana; grandchildren Lauren McKenzie Butler and Cameron Scott Butler, both of Corsicana; brother Carl E. Otto and wife Louise of Mill Valley, Calif.;
father-in-law Buddy Joles of Corsicana; sisters-in-law Jeanie Poe, Linda Joles, Carolyn Garcia and husband Andy, Delores McCain and husband Ricky, Eva Kelly and

U.S. Army, First Inf. Dev, including the Battle of the Bulge in WWII. He
attended Arlington State, before transferring to SMU where he played varsity basketball and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. After graduation, he started
Mustang Chemical and other business ventures. During the mid '60s, he he was the Player Relations Director for the startup franchise, New Orleans Saints. Later,
he was a commercial and residential builder in N. Dallas before retiring. He is survived by children: Mitchell Owen and wife Suzzane, of Dallas; Bart Owen and
wife Sheron of Garland, Kyle Owen, Wynne Owen and Mark Owen all of Dallas, and grandchildren: Haley Owen, Jenna Owen, and Scott Owen. SERVICES: Restland

He was born Sept. 12, 1907, in Dawson. He married Ruby Mae Haigood on Nov. 11,
1930, in Dawson and moved to Tahoka. He moved to Lubbock in 1948, where he had worked for the McLain Oil Rip Griffith Truck Center and Horkey Oil Company. He
later moved to Slaton in 1974 where he worked at Guy's TV and Appliances.
He was a member of the Faith Christian Church in Slaton. He was preceded in
death by two sons, Wardell Owens on Dec. 6, 1993; and Guy Owens on July 21, 1997.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, James of Lubbock and Neal of Slaton; a
daughter, Barbara Colbert of Slaton; a sister, Winnie Kizziar of Tahoka; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pate was born Nov. 28, 1927. She owned and operated Evalena's Beauty Shop
for over 25 years. She was a member of Lavon Drive Baptist Church in Garland.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Noel Douglas of Garland; daughters
and son-in-law, Carolyn and Bill Loeser and Beverly J. Ringo; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Douglas and Karen pate; grandchildren, Tammy, April,
Jason, Justin, Johnny, Angela, Rebecca Lynn and Brandon; five great-granddaughters and numerous other family members who loved her.

Mrs. Patterson was born June 22, 1909, in Hill County. She was a sales clerk at
Bowden Pharmacy.
She is survived by sisters, Josie Dunlap of Corsicana, Madeline Mason of Mesquite and Dovie Patterson of Irving and a host of nieces and nephews.

 Otis Annell Pederson, 86, a lifelong educator died Monday, February 5, 2001,
at his home on Lake Granbury. Memorial service 10:00 a.m. Thursday, at First United Methodist Church in Arlington, the Reverend Bob Holloway officiating.
Burial will be in Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington. Honorary pallbearers, past and present principals and administrators of Arlington Independent School

Wheels Pmgram. Otis Annell Pederson was born June 10, 1914, in Hamilton County, the youngest of three sons of Otto C. and Gena Ringness Pederson. His oldest
brother, Gerome, died as an infant and his brother, Raymond, died in Italy in World War II. His family moved to Clifton in 1919, so that the children might
have the opportunity of schooling. His mother, Gena, died when Otis was eight years of age. Five years later, his father, Otto married Hattie Sormrude, who
became Otis' stepmother. Otis attended public school in Clifton and graduated from Clifton High Schol in 1932. He attended Clifton Junior College, now a part
of Texas Lutheran University. After two years of college, he taught school at Meridian Creek rural school for two years before continuing his education at
North Texas State Teachers College. Upon graduating in 1940, he continued his teaching in Trinidad, Texas, before moving to Corsicana to teach. World War II
interrupted his career as he volunteered for service in the U.S. Navy in 1942. He was discharged as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in 1946, after serving in both
the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He returned to Corsicana as a teacher and coach until 1956. Having received his masters degree from Southern Methodist
University, he went to Ennis as high school principal. After 31/2 years, Otis moved his family to Arlington. For the next 18 years he served as principal,
curriculum director and administrative assistant to the superintendent. Otis retired in 1976 after 38 years of service in public schools. Otis married
Dorothy Rose Anderson of Gainesville on January 17, 1942. She preceded him in death June 14, 1987. Survivors are sons, Donald O. Pederson and his wife, Kathy,
of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Robert W. Pederson and his wife, Rebecca, of Austin; daughter, Rose Ann Schmidt and husband, Jim, of Granbury; and
grandchildren, Julie R. Pederson, Michael A. Pederson, Amy L. Lauth and husband, Richard, Carrie A. Pederson, Justin J. Schmidt and Allison L. Schmidt. Moore

Mr. Peebles was born May 28, 1920 in Davis, Okla. He was reared in Corsicana. He
was superintendent of Santa Fe Oversees Oil Company. He served his country in the
U.S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis J. and Violet Evelina (Goodall) Peebles; and brothers, Aubrey Peebles and Jessie M. Peebles.
Mr. Peebles is survived by his wife, Josephine (Steward) Peebles of Durant, Okla.; brother, Ivan Peebles of Plano; sister, Alice McGlon of Fort Smith, Ark.;
and several nieces and nephews.

He was born Sept. 30, 1912, in Corsicana and entered the Army in 1941. He was a veteran of the 338th Infantry Regiment, which landed in French North Africa and
Italy during World War II.
He received numerous military decorations, including three bronze medals. He was
a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 269395.
He married Anita Regalado on Aug. 3, 1946, in Waxahachie.
Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Francisco of Lubbock, Armando of Oklahoma City, Alejandro of Orlando, Fla., Fernando of Wichita, Kan. Emilio of
Slaton, Ruben of Lubbock and Gustavo of Lubbock; a daughter, Yolanda Villalobos of El Paso; two brothers, Nieves Pena of Lubbock, Manuel Garcia of Austin; a

Mary Louise Ramsey Percy, 89, of Corsicana passed away Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001 in Corsicana.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Kaufman with the Rev. John Gondol officiating. Interment will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at
Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor.
Mrs. Percy was born Aug. 20, 1911 in Franklin County, Ala. to James A. and Willie Lee (Martin) Ramsey. After graduating from high school in Russellville, Ala., she attended Baylor College for Women in Belton (later changed to Mary
Hardin Baylor College in the fall of 1934). She graduated Aug. 5, 1934 with a bachelor of science degree in home economics. She served as a home demonstration
agent in Cooper, Kountze and then Kaufman where she met and married William D. Percy on Oct. 16, 1943.
All of her life, Mrs. Percy worked for community improvement and betterment. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout troop leader. She served in all activities of the
Kaufman Methodist Church and was a member of the sanctuary restoration committee in 1985. The chamber of commerce honored her as Citizen of the Year at the
annual banquet in 1989. The United Methodist Women's Division of the United Methodist Church recognized her with a special mission recognition award in
1985. She served as president of the Kaufman Garden Club three different years and was a nationally accredited master flower show judge. She was also past
president of the Clover Club, a study club organized in 1897. She was a volunteer at the Kaufman County Library from its beginning on the Kaufman city
square. As a member of the finance committee, she helped raised the 3.5 million dollars needed to start what is now the Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman. Her
knowledge of plants and their use in landscaping has left a living legacy at the Kaufman County courthouse, Kaufman Public Library, First United Methodist Church
and educational building.
Mrs. Percy is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Percy of Corsicana; brother, Edward Lee Ramsey and wife Deane of Birmingham, Ala.; brother-in-law, Calvin G. Percy and wife Vicki of Georgetown; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Percy and Joanne
Percy, both of Georgetown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was born Nov. 11, 1932, in Navarro County. He moved to Paducah in 1948 and
married Jean Johnson on April 2, 1952, in Paducah. He had been employed as an equipment operator for Cottle County for the past 10 years. He attended the
Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicky Lynn Perkins, in 1975.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Cynthia Diane Grant of Vernon,
Sandra Jeanine McRae of Groesbeck and Dana Leigh Perkins of Aspermont; two sons, Billy Wade of Sayre, Okla., and John Mitchell of Paducah; a brother, Don Ed of

Mr. Perkins was born Dec. 23, 1914 in Irene. He had been a resident of the
Spring Hill and Dawson area since 1929. He was a farmer who enjoyed hunting and
fishing. He was also a longtime fiddler. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Perkins is survived by his wife, Yvonne Perkins of Spring Hill; sons, Leslie
Eugene Perkins of Southerland Springs, A. B. Perkins of West Salem, Wis. and

Perry died Monday, March 31, 1997, in St. Mary Hospital in Lubbock.
He was born July 29, 1926, in Walters, Okla. He married Versie Barclay Roberson
on June 24, 1959, in Lockney. He graduated from Brownfield High School, and he
was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Lockney Masonic
Lodge and First Christian Church of Brownfield.
He farmed in the Aiken Community. A son, David Roberson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Gay L. Bradley of Corsicana; a son, Joe
D. Roberson of Lockney; a brother, Max of Midland; a sister, Monah King of
Abilene; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Methodist Minister, Mrs. Perry came to Texas from Georgia, her birth place, and
settled in Navarro County in 1873. She had been a resident of Dallas twenty

DALLAS, May 3. - Mrs. Katie Turner Perry, 70, died suddenly at her home here
Thursday evening. A native of Georgia, Mrs. Turner came to Navarro county with
her family in 1873 and moved to Wortham in 1885 where she resided until moving
to Dallas 20 years ago.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Lucille Perry, teacher in the Ben Milam school
here; two sons, Turner Perry, Dallas, and W. E. Perry, Roscoe; a brother, Sam
Turner, Dallas, and three grandchildren.

1950s. She later became active in farming with her husband in the Lockney area
for 40 years. She was a past officer and secretary in the Order of the Eastern
Star in Floyd County, as well as Corsicana.
Survivors include a son, Jo Dean Roberson of Corsicana; a daughter, Gay Bradley
of Corsicana; five brothers, Wilcey Wayne Barclay of Lakeview, William Grant and
Clarence Curtis, both of Amarillo, Sol David of Lockney and Dalton Daniel of
Kingman, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren.

She was born April 1, 1912, in Corsicana, Navarro County, where she grew up and
attended school. She married James Walter in November, 1932, in Corsicana. They
moved to Colorado City in 1948 and Amarillo in 1952. They settled in Plainview
in 1953, where she worked as a physical therapy assistant at Central Plains
Hospital until retiring in 1977.
She was a member of the College Heights Baptist Church in Plainview and had
resided at Vivian's Nursing Home in Amarillo for the past seven years. She was
preceded in death by her husband in 1974; two daughters, JoAnn Mills in 1991 and
Nancy Trussell on June 18, 2000.
Survivors include a sister, Sylvania Bowman of Missouri City; two sons, Ronald
of Amarillo and Jimmy of Baytown; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pierce was born Aug. 29, 1927 in Corsicana to Festus A. and Al'Nela Pierce.
She graduated from Corsicana High in
1944 as valedictorian and editor of the yearbook. She graduated from Ward Belmont College in Nashville, Tenn. in 1946,
where she edited the yearbook. She graduated from SMU in 1948, serving as the editor of the Rotunda yearbook. She was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Pi
Beta Phi, awarded a masters degree in counseling in 1968 and a life member of the SMU Alumni Association. She was a longtime member of St. Matthews Cathedral,
Daughters of the King and Community of the Holy Spirit.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Mary Pierce Atchley.
Mrs. Pierce is survived by her son, Jim; daughter Nela Margaret; sister Winkie Pierce Stroube; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

member of Oakhurst Garden Club of Fort Worth. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ray Pinkston.
Mrs. Pinkston is survived by her son, John R. Pinkston and wife Mary Jane of Dallas; brother, David Ralston Sr. and wife Barbara of Corsicana;

Mrs. Pirtle was born Feb. 5, 1934 in Hearne. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin G. Pirtle; and her parents, David A. and Nannie Lee Johnson.
Mrs. Pirtle is survived by her daughters, Linda Jonassen of Fairfield, Billie
Jean Carter and Shirley Gail Lewis, both of Kirvin; brother, William David Johnson of Honea Path, S.C.; sister, Evelyn McClendon of Houston; eight

Aug 20, 1906 - Oct 15, 2000 Edna Mae Bray Pitts, 94, of Corsicana passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000 at Navarro Regional Hospital. Services will be 3 p.m. today at Resthaven Mausoleum with Ferman Carpenter and
Dick James officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Batton, John David Bray, David Bray and Danny Bray. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Walker, Lonnie Watson and Jim Pitts.
Mrs. Pitts was born Aug. 20, 1906 in Hedley to Ida Mae and David Crockett Bray.
At a very early age she and her family moved to the Angus community. Upon completing her education, she moved to Corsicana where she completed a business
course. In 1933, she married Oral Lee Pitts in the K. Wolens home. Her career consisted of more than 50 years working as a buyer and sales associate at K.
Wolens Inc. She was very active in the Business Professional Women's Club where Louis Wolens established a scholarship at Navarro College in Mrs. Pitts' honor at Navarro College. She was a member of Kinsloe House and Westhill Church of
Christ. She was a great inspiration to those who knew her and she touched the lives of her family and many friends by her cheerful and loving ways. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Oral Lee Pitts; and brother, Theodore Moffitt Bray. Mrs. Pitts is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Bill Batton of
Corsicana; granddaughter, Lisa Jane Batton of Corsicana; grandson, Jonathan and his daughter Nicole Batton; nephew and niece, John David and Almeda Bray;

Nov. 26, 2000 by a tragic accident.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Believers Bible Church with Tom Rhodes

Pallbearers will be Matt Pettit, Jeff Pettit, David Bondy, Lyle Plauchz, Adrian

Mr. Plauchˇ was born March 6, 1951 in Baton Rouge, La. He attended local schools and later graduated from the University of Texas in Arlington. He served two
years in the Navy on the USS Forrest Sherman and four years in the Naval Reserves. He was employed by the Corsicana Independent School District.
He met and married Beverly Prewitt Hansen in 1985. He was a loving, caring father of his children. He was a member of Believers Bible Church. He was active
in the lives of his family and in his community.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. F. F. Plauchz
Mr. Plauchˇ is survived by his wife, Beverly; children, Brad and Krista of Frost, and Cheri Moran and husband John of Alvin; mother, Marie Plauchˇ of
Louisiana; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Jerry and D'Ann Plauchˇ, Jimmy and Gayle Plauchˇ and Addy and John Bergeron, all of Louisiana;
granddaughter, Jessica of Alvin; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Poarch was born Nov. 27, 1947 in Corsicana to the late Joe and Ella Ruth
Bell. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend with a heart of gold. She will be missed by countless people whose lives she touched. She leaves a
wonderful legacy of love and courage to her family who so dearly loved her.
She is survived by her husband, David Poarch of Carrollton; son, Jeff Poarch of
Carrollton; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Ronda Poarch and their children Alexis and Hunter of Mesquite; and sister, Betty Bell of Birmingham, Ala.

William Freeman "Bill" Ponder, 84, of Corsicana passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001 at Navarro Regional Hospital.

Mr. Ponder was born April 5, 1917 in Frost to William F. and Nannie Albritton
Ponder Sr. He grew up on a farm, served in the U.S. Army during World War II,
was a pumper in the oil fields for 34 years, and retired from Crown Central Oil Company in 1984. He was a member of First Baptist Church for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and only brother, David A. Ponder.
Mr. Ponder is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ava Nell Bilberry Ponder of
Corsicana; sisters, Gay Wright of Corsicana, Elizabeth Froese of Dallas, Catherin Stockard of Palestine, Norine Ponder of Dallas and Robbie Elmore of
Frost; and sister-in-law, Ann Ponder of Dallas.

Ira Claud Poole, 86, of Corsicana, died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital. Service is Friday, 2 p.m., Corley Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Calvin Francis and the Rev. G. T. Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Park.
He was a native of Alabama and lived in Corsicana since 1929. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie Poole, a retired foundry worker for Bethlehem Steel
and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Alyne Norman of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Mrs. Willie Dean Bickers, of
Jewett; one step-son, Richard Cheek, of Fort Worth; one step-daughter, Mrs. Dean Puckett, of Terrell; two grandchildren; five great-grandsons; two sisters, Mrs
Pearl Osteen, of Corsicana, and Mrs Jewel Green, of Malakoff; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pall bearers are Dewey Osteen, Kenneth Berry Hill, W. O. Green, Jimmy Watkins, Dale Reel, Larnett Moore, Marvin Slaydon and Chester Lowe.

Former Resident died at Henderson; Rites Held Monday
S. G. Powers, aged 73 years, of Dallas, formerly a long-time merchant in Emmett
and Corsicana, died at Henderson, Texas Sunday. Funeral services were held from the Corley Funeral Chapel Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock with interment in the
Emmett cemetery. The rites were conducted by Rev. Mr. Cannon, Methodist minister of Price, Texas.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Annie Ruth Miller, Henderson; Mrs. W. H. Wideman and Mrs. Vivian Toten, both of Dallas, and Mrs. Frances Faye Redmond,
Van; two sons, Jack Powers, Corpus Christi, and Terry Powers, Dallas and several grandchildren. Pallbearers were Hubert Dickson, Gus Grissom, Robert L. Thompson,

Mrs. S. G. Powers, wife of S. G. Powers of the Emmett
community, died Monday at 12:30 o'clock after a long illness; according to a
telephone message received by J. T. Williams of the Corsicana city police force,
Monday afternoon.
Deceased was about 45 years of age and is survived by her husband and six
children, two sons, Reyno and Terry, and four daughters, Rita, Deane, Vivian and
Frances Faye.
One brother, Duane McAfee of Warnette, Oklahoma, and four sisters: Mrs. J. T.
Williams of the Burshy Prairie community, Mrs. J. S. Williams of Drane, Mrs. J.
E. Shelton of Frost and Mrs. Minnie Perryman of Dallas formerly of Corsicana.
The remains will be interred in the
Emmett cemetery Tuesday.
Deceased has lived in the Emmett community
all of her life and is well known in the west of the county.
